Resolved Question: What art medium/substance would be best to "paint" a permanant woodland scene on a cedar fence?

I recently saw an untreated 6 foot tall, 100 foot long fence that had 2-3 foot across daisies drawn along it's length, done in chalk or paint. I would like to "draw" or airbrush (I'm thinking) in stain some trees, shrubs, and a few deer possibly even a bear or two (with cubs,) maybe a racoon, a bunny here and there, etc. Might try hiring a local high school or college area artist. Thought about woodburning, but I dunno, what do you think? (Might bring out the local fire department!!) Any ideas for what medium would last several years and would fade nicely without running and streaking and looking so bad in a few years I have to paint or dark stain it to hide it? Wanna do it right the first time......Thanks in advance for advice.  more

Resolved Question: Environmental problems in milwaukee area? how can i help?

*****only leave an answer if its an answer, not someone arguing about politics, i support your right to freedom of speach and i like to hear the other side, but im not asking for answers like that.***** i live in waukesha county, near milwaukee. i dont want to travel to a different state. yes there are plenty of causes in wisconsin. much of our forests and swamps have been destroyed. look at wisconsin on mapquest. do you see much woodland left? look on the shore of lake michigan in milwaukee. its loaded with garbage and dead fish(i can assume due to chemical waste). the water is brown at times, not a tint of brown, just brown. and since milwaukee is an art city(yes its true we arent always drinkin miller and eatin brats at the brewers game, sometimes we go to the art museum or just watch the waves of lake michigan). lol sorry just had to include some milwaukee steriotypes in there. back to the point. i have gotten sick from swimming in the lake. its a dirty lake. no comments about wisconsin not having ecological problems.  more

Resolved Question: What social class would you put me in?

I went to school and worked really hard, was always top of the class and have numerous certificates of achievement along with Head teachers commendations. I was always the outsider at school with many of my "friends" continually saying "You're posh, look at you, posh car, always get what you want, (no i am not a spoilt brat. I always waited, and never had a tantrum), etc. " I was brought up with Manners, to be polite respect my elders and always act with dignity, grace and poise. My exam results put me in a position to go to Grammar school as my parents wanted this. I also gained exam results that got me head hunted for Universities. I am at University studying for a BA (Hons) in Arts and Humanities, particularly Art History and Literature. I’m interested in Archaeology, Surrealism art (Salvador Dali is my favourite artist), classical Music, and History. I’m also hoping to gain a History of Art diploma with London Art College. And I’m looking into Cambridge University. I am also a part qualified AAT Accountant and hoping to continue with CIMA and perhaps ACCA at a later date. It is my wish to send my children to Public School even though I will have to pay fees. I grew up around Bewdley in Shropshire with family in Yorkshire, and Ludlow. Lived in the west midlands area for convenience and only during the school week except during Winter as travelling to the country was more inconvenient. Holidays and most weekends were spent in the country. I particularly have a love for Hampshire as it seems so peaceful and my perfect area for living. I came from a very good family on both sides, My Mothers side, well my Grandfather and his family before he married, owned land in Poland, and there was a priest in the family. The family also have lineage to the following; Counts, Countesses, Barons, Baronesses and Knights . The family were captured and tortured during WW2 because of their social class. My Grandmothers side of the family owned businesses, and also have nobility ranking dating back through history. There were many males of our family who were in the military. Mum was always looked after by my father who didn't really like her working, but she did work as a teaching assistant to avoid boredom. We have traced our Polish roots back to 500bc when the Goths were around and we have connections to Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia etc. My father was a police officer/dog handler/SAS/Grenadier Guard/Security Guard/and Scenes of Crime plan drawer. The Archbishop of Canterbury is in his family lineage. and he is related to a famous racing driver (Formula One) who is his cousin. He also went to Art College. My brother lives in Australia and owns his own building firm, he has built his own home many times in various locations with one location even being on the beach. His current home has an back garden view of dolphins swimming past. He is married to accountant. My step-sister lives in Sweden and is married to a Pilot and owns a large home with approximately 5 acres of land next to woodland. They also have a yacht which is located nearby. My Niece is a trainee Doctor, and my Nephews are studying.  more

Resolved Question: Later 90s Disney kids play place in the Los Angeles area?

So I'm trying to figure out what this place was, I remember when I was a kid in elementary school we took a field trip to some Disney play club, they had like a maze type thing, computer rooms, movie rooms, arts & crafts, and other things. It wasn't part of Disney Land and wasn't even anywhere near it. I wanna say it was in either Thousand Oaks or Northridge, maybe Burbank. Or definitely somewhere around that area. My school was in Woodland Hills so it had to be pretty close. I don't know if they closed down or are still open. This is just driving me crazy because I can't remember what this was or what it was called.  more

Resolved Question: If an evil queen/emperoress authorised her guards to raid your village and rape all the womenfolk in it ?

* Fictitious scenario * you live in some eastern european country ,where its almost always snowing and its cold etc - you reside in a nice village behind some hills and mountaneous valleys, outside the borders of a land ruled by a vicious tyrant female ruler, a queen of some kind. she wants your village and the land around it, so shes ordered guards (soldiers on horseback ) to ransack, loot, plunder pillage everything in your village - burn it down , slay the malefolk and abduct, rape the womenfolk. You survive, and watch all of this with your own eyes. you watch some 'next of kin' , being raped repeatedly and violated before having their throats slit. after a period of 7 years trying to live in the woodlands off of herbs, vegetables, small animals etc - you train yourself in the art of ambush, espionage, archery, spear and javelin warfare and enter the citadel of this 'queen' emperess. as a male, you slay all the guards and stuff - and approach her, as shes bathing naked in a large bath. do you now rape her ? teach her a lesson - a taste of her own medicine ? If not, why not ? surely to 'break' her sense of 'power' and 'control' , you can make her TASTE what she inflicted on the womenfolk of YOUR village ? so now you carry her over your shoulder, and toss her onto her own bed... surely once then ordeal has finished, you can have a quiet word with her and remark 'its horrible isnt it ? being raped ?' making her realise her mistake (she now understands fully wtf she committed on innocents) or is this downright vile and wrong ?  more

Resolved Question: anyone has any knowledge on paintings and art, i would like some advice?!?!?

when my mum moved into her house 25 years ago, a man who lived there once was an artist and he created 3 beautiful paintings on his wall. one in the living room which is about 15 foot across and 7 foot high, one in the master bedroom which is about the same size, and another one of the same size in the second bedroom. these paintings are really beautiful with great detailing. in the living room the painting is of a woodlands with a lake and animals in it with temples and beautiful buildings. the master bedroom is a painting of roman women in a boudoir naked. the second bedroom is a painting of an egyption on a camel in the desert. the problem is, 5 years ago my mum decided to decorate and her husband wanted them all covered up. in the living room a daedo rail was put up. we have recently took the wallpaper and daedo rail dow to redecorate. we forgot how beautiful the picture was. but the daedo rail has caused some damage, some of the paint has come off. the 2 upstairs arent damaged. the question i wanted to ask is,, is the painting fixable? and is it worth fixing? will it cost a lot of money to repair? its just that its a shame that its damaged as the man who painted the pictures was so talented and the paintings are so beautiful. apparently the man worked for madamme tuusade. so is it worth fixing. sorry to go on and on. cant take it to a dealer because it is actually on my wall lol. it was painted directly onto the wall  more

Resolved Question: Moving to Michigan...I have questions, can you help?

I'm going to be moving to Michigan soon (not my choice, husbands job alas). I am a Pacific Northwest girl (more specifically an Olympic Peninsula chick :). For me that means a healthy feeling of suffocation around dense populated areas, a love of nature, wide open highways with few cars, and a thrill of shopping at funky unusual eccentric stores that haven't been gobbled up by the commercial ones out there like Wal-mart. I know nothing of Michigan. I've visited twice and my husband and I have vastly different feelings about the place. He saw: Lovely almost New England type houses and quiet neighborhoods and pretty countryside with modern conveniences. I saw: Sprawling suburban nightmarish clusterfleck reminiscent of Edward Scissor hands. Nothing original, everyone a cookie cutter of their neighbor. TOo many people! MY QUESTION IS: Is there anywhere in Michigan that is not urban Sprawl? Where is a good place for me to live? Is there anywhere in Michigan that is a med-small size town (pop 12,000 -18,000 or so) with low crime rates, a commuter train/bus that goes into larger cities (about 30 mins or so away) , near a body of water (doesn't have to be the great lakes, rivers and oversize ponds are ok. :P)? I'm hoping for somewhere that has a higher quality/more money invested into the town. Where the people are a little bit more... sophisticated. Somewhere that well-off people might go to do their Christmas shopping because they just adore "random name town" or where people might love to look at the neighborhoods on a tour, because the houses are so nice. One of those quaint eclectic towns with a bustling holiday season, an active Artisan community, and always has something going on for bored minds to do (art fairs, and seasonal festivals, improv theatre, plays, musicals etc) and also a healthy dose of scenic woodlands, hiking/biking trails, and low traffic. Quaint little teahouses/coffeehouses is also nice. (Wouldn't say no to a good Indian/Thai restaurant as well!) I get all of that currently from the area surrounding my town. I'm going to be sad to leave, this is going to be rough. :(  more

Resolved Question: Need help finding a painting online. Could anyone help?

Im in a computer art class. I was supposed to make an image metamorphasis using a painting. I found one on google images and altered it to meet the asignments needs. unfortunately, i had to find the original image and cut out a flap from it to cover my alterations so a "flip-book" style thing could be made. unfortunately, no google search i try yields the painting i found, and the art teacher cant locate it either. Its an impressionist painting of a lady sitting in a wicker chair, looking to the right, and hunched over as though reading either a newspaper or a book. She is in a light dress, done heavily in dirty white and blue-gray strokes, in front of a woodland background, i believe she is on a porch. anybody know who its is? google searches already tried to no avail are Marie Cassatt, Edouard Manet, Claude Monet etc. could anyone help?  more

Resolved Question: Can't Sleep! Please Help Me...?

I am not a stereotypical teenage boy. I hate rap & pop music, I'm into art, music, writing, I don't like football, gore, or anything like that. I want to live in Chapel Row when i'm older, a lovely peaceful place with loads of woodland and few houses, roads & people. BUT I have a problem, I can't sleep. I close the curtains turn off the lights and lay down and try to get to sleep. This is where the problem, during the day i'm so busy having OCD's (See my other question...) writing, drawing, socializing, playing music and so on, I almost don't have time to think, so that when I try to get to sleep, thoughts ideas & inspirations come rushing into my head. I find myself up again at my desk writing, drawing, writing up track lists for albums i'll never make (see OCD question.), playing my guitar and so on. I love being awake and i read alot too, but i can never get to sleep, it never effects me for some reason and i'm never tired, but my parents are worried and annoyed and they've taken away my ipod (not so bad) and my guitar (which is like oxygen to me!!!) My usual time of sleeping is 2 o clock. (Morning) and i wake up at 6.I'm amazed it never effects me but my parents are threatening to take my guitar away for even longer. I will post the OCD question soon. PLEASE HELP!!!  more

Resolved Question: which out of these two poems should i enter into the poetry contest?

Speckled Egg I feel the feeble, thrumming pulse, Warm beneath this china shell. Paper thin, magnified vaults, My drooling tears of hurt do swell. Milk blue egg, so small and warm, Flecked with tears of your speckled heart. In the slanted barn, from the raging storm, Your haven of twigs is itself an art. Mother bird had flown away, To kindle her babies yearning heat. But gone her soul in the silken ray, She shall live within your luminous tweet. A crooked line, across the roof, Baby blue mosaic of awaited birth. The broken egg is the sanctuary's proof, Your soft, damp head is my innocent girth. Your blinking eyes of liquid black, Look sweetly up into my waiting gaze. I bind my tears in your breathing sack, Of a burning smile set ablaze. Nidawi Princess Her impenetrable mass of rose coloured curls, Tumbling, weeping past her thorned shoulder blades. The youngest sister of a dozen winsome girls, The deep, moth wings of the proud woodland maids. Across her thighs she is bound in limpid sash, A thick, raw blade of the rich, northern grass. With her sour, puckered lips, the earth's bloody gash, Is caressed with her dark mouth of damp, scarlet brass. She leans upon her feather staff, the vivid blue of Jay, Soaking her autumn shoulders... a river of mahogany hair. Pulling up her tattooed knees, through breath she flies away, Tugging the fur of the dark racoon, and silencing the bear. With flame coloured wings she paints her blood across the sky, With the swift, gentle stroke of nature's fair brush. Blood coloured feathers to thread and trim the dress at her thigh, Her lustrous gaze has been the guilt of many hearts to crush. NO NO STOP.. the second one was wrong. it was this one.. Wooden Flag On the sharp brim of a cedar bow, Lives the stillness of an allegory tale. To the sandy shores her soul disavow, The maiden carved beneath the regal sail. Her arms lay flat against her wooden hips, Flung back, beneath a river of hair. Rose coloured wood to sharpen her lips, Hollow eyes, wide...open in a constant stare. The symbol- the figurehead, chiselled and shaped, Horror does play at her tranquillity- forced. In billowing garments her solid form is draped, To turn from the future, her mind has endorsed. Behind and above her curved, timber throat, A bloody flag does haunt many dreams. A roaring screech to turn the boat, Through her pursed, frigid lips the vision now screams. But they dismissed this dream as a sailor's thought, And on through the waves the ship did ride. The carven effigy saw a battle, and fought... Through the dagger waves the maid must glide. The wrathful lightning struck the deck, They sunk, they died in the vibration of sea. Their death now apart of the sunken wreck, The maiden, now alive, through the ocean did flee.  more

Resolved Question: be a good boy, and critic my work please?

can you spot any improvements or any suggestions that would effectively imbue this piece of writing to imagine and describe? The sky was cloudless. The crimson semicircular sun was launching warm shards of luminous sunlight from the far-east horizon. The chilly breeze glided across the enchanted emerald forest. One could still stumble on a bag full of dazzling stars upon the sky, winking merrily at the tranquil verdant woodland down below. The rigid wild trees like Oaks and Willows were towering high above the ground, patting the astounding semi-dark sky. The pulsating chirps of the robins and quails echoed from trees to trees, producing a merciful melodic jungle harmony. The rustling of the parched leaves also echoed when the wild birds flew off of the branches, accumulating a drum beat to the morning orchestra of the wild. Clusters of lengthy beaked cranes soared to the northern sky hastily, assembling astounding shapes frequently as they flew. Underneath, critters and ferocious animals were awakening from their long privilege sleep. A thunderous blow of an elephant boomed from the rear end of the forest. Again, more crackles came out of the dried leaves as the terrorised birds fluttered and vanished in the sky. The swampy mosses and umbrella-like white mushrooms vegetated all around the forest. The slithering dark grey veins looped around the Ash trees, which critically looked an awful lot like snakes wrapping around their preys to suffocate them. Now the sun came out of its hive fully, it was shooting missiles of scorching fire arrows at the forest. These arrows pierced out of the roofing tree leaves only to reflect on the grey veins and the mushrooms. They were glowing like diamonds. Whitish flare mixed with a yellow light in a pea green background formed a mind-blowing art sequence. It was nothing compare to what happened next. It was the waterfall, situated right in the centre of the forest. The river was isolating the forest and had to leap over a big boulder - which created this outstanding waterfall. The clean azure water splattered on the blunt rocks at the foot, splashing everywhere. Red salmons and silvery tunas were hopping at the base of the waterfall. A green spotted clean-water fish bounced to the bang of the river, where it was unexpectedly raked by a sturdy claw of a brown brutal bear. The shocked fish was flapping in the gravely hand of the bear, all its joy emptied out and hope lost. The blood oozed down from the cleave beneath its fin. The bear didn’t hesitate or care; it simply gobbled the little fish and burped out its fish skeleton.  more

Resolved Question: I have here the conclusion to a story I have written. It obviously needs some touching up, but...?

what are your thoughts on what I have written? It's simply a rough sketch of what I have in mind: After I smoked my cigarette I sat upon my mother’s old 1950s stoop and pondered the backwardness of the earth’s yearning for “settling down”—why would you settle down when there are highways great arteries of the Mid West!—cowboys sittin’ in their saddles slouching chewing rutty tobacco and spitting to whistle through loose canines at the broad Mrs. Harbringer as she bends over to scoop up the daily mail from last morning’s mailboy circuit—it’s a shame they don’t deliver milk anymore—anywho, Mrs. Harbringer, the men whistle from high above their arrogant horse heads at the swingin’ *** of the woman as it swings brightly and excitedly back into the saloon—that image can quickly go to rot, as any mad bad mind can tell you. Anyway, I want the people who love to live life those who don’t mind drinking wine and stereotypically stripping down at the party to read and analyze Marx, the people whose hair flow outwardly upon the world like a golden silken blanket—maybe the cause of global warming—too much hair!—and on, those mad fools who will sit up in sleep bags just to talk at three in the morn and listen to the wind as it howls madly and silently in a creeping tip-toeing manner as a thief in the night. On the subject of Marx, his written works are selling like mad in Eastern Germany—(a connection there perhaps?)—and all of Europe for that matter. How odd it is to have grown up with a cynical capitalist Russia, when the rest of the older world has know Her as a Socialist machine, crude ruthless and ongoing—it’s an odd feeling looking at history over my shoulder; there isn’t much of it as is. Lucas is in Texas, analyzing and growing tea, reading scrolls written by Thoreau on the mannerisms and discourses among men and teaching younger selves about the qualities of life in all its broad quantities—Cass is living in some backwater flat over old Woodland mainstreet, trying to kick her benny habit and raising her many golden-eyed children—small waif-like little things—and gazes out of her window on the minor traffic as husbands and wives rush home to their loved ones—she sees the world through sorrowful lens of late, she writes to me. Poor woman, God only seems to know her well-like sadness; it stems so deep. As for Hank, the man is mad, living and dreaming in the opium speakeasies of San Francisco, lady city of the brightly lit bay in all her mist and glamour. He writes more, he says over the phone to me—In the background, white noise, the kind of noise that consists of offbeat surges of electronica pulsing from silver-smooth cars, people talking and yelling from across the street—“it’s UNDER the seat!”—and so on, I can close my eyes and see the smoke that hangs over the city like a symbolic greasy cloud, stinging the eyes and bringing warm euphoria to the brain at the bottom of narrow stairwells and gated road blocks, ladies in their dresses and men in their slacks off to Yoshi’s for Port and good Jazz—Charlie Hunter Trio is playing again informs Hank—the city in all her jewels and lights, her art and her cats that roam bemoaning man and his lack of conscience as they wander into dank clubs to discuss the current scene and its ****. I say my goodbyes to Hank, and tell him of my plans to work as a hired hand on the next ship freight coming into New Orleans—they are so few now—Hank chokes up, and gruffly gives his best. “Watch them sailors” he warns “They don’t care for your Rimbaudish type of man”—and so on, until I lose interest in his cynical unhappiness and tell him hurriedly that my mother is calling for help with the evening sup. He cuts off, then thrusts in a goodbye, and cuts the line before I can say the same. I sit back and ponder the life I seem to have been thrust into, and as the memories well up I tear open another cigarette from its packaging, and walk back up the drooping stoop to my room—mother hurrying about preparing a bit of nourishment before I head out—and prepare for my departure from these states, all its gleaming little slums and happy men and women who anxiously look out their little doors before venturing outside to start their days. I kiss my mother goodbye—she is crying now—and as we drive down to the docks to the freight ship she turns to me and gives me a single kiss, hurried and rushed as I rise from my seat to the pale dawn of the watery morning to trod out onto the plankway that leads to the ship; I turn once to smile and give a solemn wave, but only see that my mother has already left, her little blue Honda turning at the light down the street—and gone—gone, and already looking for her little bottle in the cupboard, and then to the television to watch the silver ball drop in New York City, tears. As I venture on board the vessel I notice the captain give the go ahead as the last of the stragglers pull themselves up the plank, rushing before the ship leaves port, and New Orleans behind I wasn't sure what section to put this under, hopefully this is it. Also, only serious answers please, none of that "I love it! Keep writing!" unless you have more to add to it and back it up. Be brutally honest, that's why I posted it. Sorry for the length. Thank you Searchbar. :) But, keep in mind, this is a Rough sketch. I'm editing later. Several changes will be made. But thanks for your answer anyway.  more

Resolved Question: Any comments on this poem?

This is a poem by William C. Bryant Green River When breezes are soft and skies are fair, I steal an hour from study and care, And hie me away to the woodland scene, Where wanders the stream with waters of green, As if the bright fringe of herbs on its brink Had given their stain to the waves they drink; And they, whose meadows it murmurs through, Have named the stream from its own fair hue. Yet pure its waters--its shallows are bright With colored pebbles and sparkles of light, And clear the depths where its eddies play, And dimples deepen and whirl away, And the plane-tree's speckled arms o'ershoot The swifter current that mines its root, Through whose shifting leaves, as you walk the hill, The quivering glimmer of sun and rill With a sudden flash on the eye is thrown, Like the ray that streams from the diamond-stone. Oh, loveliest there the spring days come, With blossoms, and birds, and wild-bees' hum; The flowers of summer are fairest there, And freshest the breath of the summer air; And sweetest the golden autumn day In silence and sunshine glides away. Yet, fair as thou art, thou shunnest to glide, Beautiful stream! by the village side; But windest away from haunts of men, To quiet valley and shaded glen; And forest, and meadow, and slope of hill, Around thee, are lonely, lovely, and still, Lonely--save when, by thy rippling tides, From thicket to thicket the angler glides; Or the simpler comes, with basket and book, For herbs of power on thy banks to look; Or haply, some idle dreamer, like me, To wander, and muse, and gaze on thee. Still--save the chirp of birds that feed On the river cherry and seedy reed, And thy own wild music gushing out With mellow murmur of fairy shout, From dawn to the blush of another day, Like traveller singing along his way. That fairy music I never hear, Nor gaze on those waters so green and clear, And mark them winding away from sight, Darkened with shade or flashing with light, While o'er them the vine to its thicket clings, And the zephyr stoops to freshen his wings, But I wish that fate had left me free To wander these quiet haunts with thee, Till the eating cares of earth should depart, And the peace of the scene pass into my heart; And I envy thy stream, as it glides along Through its beautiful banks in a trance of song. Though forced to drudge for the dregs of men, And scrawl strange words with the barbarous pen, And mingle among the jostling crowd, Where the sons of strife are subtle and loud I often come to this quiet place, To breathe the airs that ruffle thy face, And gaze upon thee in silent dream, For in thy lonely and lovely stream An image of that calm life appears That won my heart in my greener years. How do you feel about it?  more

Resolved Question: Mixing art medium idea good or not - please help?

I am working on an independent art project for my 2-d art 3 class and it is like an autumn woodland background . Then i want a picture (drawing ) of me and a guy friend in it , everything is spaced for it. However it is alot of work to be able to paint us as it took days to draw us because i want it to actually look like kyle and i. Anyways do you think it would look bad to have the colored landscape then like a charcoal or inkwork, or graphite drawing of us collaged on. Which would look best. THank you.  more

Resolved Question: Tell me what you think of...?

Stigma Part I By: Taylor Packer The air was still in the forest that night. Nothing seemed to stir in the woods. No bugs sang their songs to each other. There were no animals in sight. The woodland was caked in a thick silver mist. The air was damp and heavy with humidity. A cold howl rang through the quiet void. Something was lurking in the silhouetted trees. Something stepped on dried pine needles and twigs. The howl that had been emitted was growl that came from deep in its throat, as though it was gargling blood. The creature was nearly the size of a grizzly bear. Its jet black fur had an appearance of sharp needles rising from its back. The mane of the monster was nothing like a lions but rather of a wolf’s. It pulled its lips back to reveal a large jaw with razorblade fangs. They were more menacing than its great claws. It shifted its weight with each haunting step. Unlike most creatures who would see in many hues of color, this beast saw only one. Its view was as crimson as the blood it lusted for. Its breath had a steady rhythm. That was when it saw its target. The quarry was at the edge of the clearing. The beast heartbeat picked up speed as its pace quickened. Its mind began racing. It couldn’t wait to sink its fangs into the juicy meat. It began running towards its prey, picking up greater speed with each bounding step. It would soon have its prize. It let out a growl of hunger as its maw opened wide. Its steps turned to leaps. It had its victim. He turned just it time to see the great jaws of the beast close around him. There was a spray of blood and sickening crunching sound. It was over. --- A red-orange glow coiled around the burning logs, making cracking noises as the heat split the wood into neat lines. A young man in his late twenties sat in the large library at a wooden desk placed near the hearth. He was studying a compendium of many newspaper clippings and listening to various digital recordings of radio news reports. All of these events he listened to and read about were starting to happen in the United States and news of it was spreading like wild fire. Tatsuki Ohaira ran a hand through his short black hair. His brown slanted eyes examined all the information on the table before him. He needed the information so he could find his sister. Michelle was his half sister. His American mother gave birth to her before she met his Japanese father and gave birth to him. Later, Tatsuki moved back to Tokyo and got a job as a martial arts instructor. He came back to America when he got the news that Michelle; his only remaining family member had mysteriously vanished without a trace. Michelle had become a reporter and after being assigned to investigate the recent attacks she went missing. Many of the people who went to the forests of northern Arizona and were reported missing, were usually found later, or at least what was left of them. Tatsuki shut out that thought. He knew Michelle was a strong woman and was probably just lost. But lost for two weeks? He tried to stay positive but the little shoulder devil kept telling him to forget it. She was gone and there was nothing he could do about it. Tatsuki could not accept that. He had to keep looking for some kind of clue, something that would lead him to her. He would find her, dead or alive. He could not throw away all that she had given him on the assumption she was dead. He just wanted his sister back. There was creaking sound behind him that made him jump. In walked a tall thin man with gray hair and a wrinkled face. His attire was the same as always; a black tuxedo with matching pants, shoes, and bow tie. He came in with a silver platter that held a large vial of red liquid and a wine glass. Tatsuki didn’t drink wine but he enjoyed drinking from that kind of cup. “Would you like some cranberry juice, sir?” The butler spoke gently as if it lessened his chances of disturbing his master’s work. “Yes, please.” Tatsuki said. The butler began pouring the drink as Tatsuki returned to his studying. Tatsuki was one to get easily distracted, and when he heard the liquid slowly filling the cup he couldn’t help but focus on the drink rather then his current predicament. The small escape was momentarily relaxing. “How is your search coming along, sir?” The butler inquired as he carefully handed Tatsuki the glass. Tatsuki took a sip of juice before answering. “It could be better. I contacted the news agency and they said they have no idea where she could be. I keep reading these articles and listening to the radio to see if I can figure out what is doing this, but it is unlike anything I have ever heard of.” He took another sip. “If I may, sir,” the butler said. “It sounds to me like we are dealing with a new species.” “Don’t be ridiculous Max.” Tatsuki said. “This isn’t Bigfoot we’re talking about; this is a bear of some kind.” “It is a bear that looks like a dog?” Max asked sitting in a wooden EVERYONE!!! Resolved Question: 'Net maps and sat nav systems are accused of wiping out crucial geography & history of places: do you agree ??

Are online maps wiping out history? Internet maps and satellite navigation systems are being accused of wiping out the rich geography and history of a place, leaving out crucial details which give people a true sense of their location. Do you agree? Millions of people around the world use these systems every day to help them get directions quickly. In Britain, sales of maps and atlases have fallen by a third. But now the British Cartographic Society says online maps and sat navs are making historical landmarks invisible, by omitting locations of such things as churches, ancient woodlands and old buildings that help people understand a landscape. "The consequence will be long-term damage to future generations of map readers, because this skill is not being taught in schools", said the BCS's president Mary Spence. Are internet maps and sat navs destroying an appreciation of the landscape around us? Do you still keep a map in your car? Do you still use it? Are map reading skills becoming a lost art? WHY omit landmarks that folk use in giving verbal directions & in remembering an area? http://newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread.jspa?forumID=5281&edition=1&ttl=20080831202054 Attracting tourist revenue is another important consideration Why omit highlights that many folk most enjoy @ an area?  more

Resolved Question: Name of these poems.?

Can you name these poems? Thanx! :) My days among the Dead are past; Around me I behold, Where'er these casual eyes are cast, The mighty minds of old; My never-failing friends are they, With whom I converse day by day. With them I take delight in weal, And seek relief in woe; And while I understand and feel How much to them I owe, My cheeks have often been bedew'd With tears of thoughtful gratitude.- Robert Southey and Books! 'tis a dull and endless strife; Come hear the woodland linnet-- How sweet his music! On my life, There's more wisdom in it. And hark! how blithe the throstle sings! He, too, is no mean preacher: Come forth into the light of things, Let Nature be your teacher. Enough of Science and of Art; Close up those barren leaves; That watches and receives. -Willian Wordsworth  more

Resolved Question: Can you please explain what each stanza means in this poem?

--A simple child, That lightly draws its breath, And feels its life in every limb, What should it know of death? I met a little cottage girl: She was eight years old, she said; Her hair was thick with many a curl That clustered round her head. She had a rustic, woodland air, And she was wildly clad; Her eyes were fair, and very fair; --Her beauty made me glad. "Sisters and brothers, little maid, How many may you be?" "How many? Seven in all," she said, And wondering looked at me. "And where are they? I pray you tell." She answered, "Seven are we; And two of us at Conway dwell, And two are gone to sea. "Two of us in the churchyard lie, My sister and my brother; And in the churchyard cottage, I Dwell near them with my mother." "You say that two at Conway dwell, And two are gone to sea, Yet ye are seven! -- I pray you tell, Sweet maid, how this may be." Then did the little maid reply, "Seven boys and girls are we; Two of us in the churchyard lie, Beneath the churchyard tree." "You run about, my little maid, Your limbs they are alive; If two are in the churchyard laid, Then ye are only five." "Their graves are green, they may be seen," The little maid replied, "Twelve steps or more from my mother's door, And they are side by side. "My stockings there I often knit, My kerchief there I hem; And there upon the ground I sit, And sing a song to them. "And often after sunset, sir, When it is light and fair, I take my little porringer, And eat my supper there. "The first that died was sister Jane; In bed she moaning lay, Till God released her of her pain; And then she went away. "So in the churchyard she was laid; And, when the grass was dry, Together round her grave we played, My brother John and I. "And when the ground was white with snow, And I could run and slide, My brother John was forced to go, And he lies by her side." "How many are you, then," said I, "If they two are in heaven?" Quick was the little maid's reply, "O master! we are seven." "But they are dead; those two are dead! Their spirits are in heaven!" 'T was throwing words away; for still The little maid would have her will, And say, "Nay, we are seven!" * 4 hours ago * - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 4 hours ago Please help. Resolved Question: What do you think of Houston, Texas?

I personally love it. Sure, the topography might be flat and boring--oh wait, there are hills out in The Woodlands. But the flatness is otherwise made up by the hospitality of its people. I've never been to a large city that was as friendly and hospitable as Houston. There are hundreds of different experiences in the arts, culture, and entertainment each year in the form of museums, entertainment districts, festivals, etc., that can all be experienced and are inexpensive. It's the best large city in Texas and America.  more
