Resolved Question: Where is the wierdest place you've seen a piece of sports commentary?
I'll be going to Vancouver in a couple of weeks to meet with some members of the Canucks scouting team, and while in Vancouver, I always try and visit the Yaletwon Brewpub. Well, today I was looking online to see what new beers they had on tap - and what do I see at the bottom of the menu?
http://www.markjamesgroup.com/Yaletown_Menu_Beer.pdf
That says it all......so, what is the wierdest place you've seen similar commentary?
I take it the Eagles and Cowboys have a huge rivalry.
Bigger than the Pack and the Bears?
In Chicago there are only two NFL teams...Da Bears, and The Pack, the rest of the league is just there for show.
Keep it going Bob, I met Toe Blake when I was three months old.....I'd like to say I remember it, but I don't....fortunately I got to play against Montreal at the forum in my first exhibition game, and there was Toe behind the bench......I still have his autograph somewhere. The Rocket owes a lot to Toe!
moreResolved Question: I was sad when I came home from Vancouver?
Hey everyone, I live in New England and I just got back form my favorite place in the whole world: Vancouver. I had the best trip ever because I went with my mom+dad and friend and it was so much fun...but when I came back home, I've just been really really sad all the time and I can't really figure out why. I cry all the time now and I just feel really sad and upset all the time. All I want to do is get old enough to move out there, and just get out of here. I'm guessing it has to do with SOMETHING about Vancouver or being back at home or something because it all started when i got back. anyone know whats going on??
Additional Details
to add more detail and mostly to anser Lor T's question: i live in new engalnd, it is so boring out here to me and Vancouver is thrilling, stunningly gorgeous and the perfect place, you seem like someone who loves sun and california is for you. I love the rain so much and i love everything about Vancouver. When i went twice this year, i mostly did all the touristy things like stanley park (totem poles + aquarium) went to yaletown which is my favorite place in the city, and shopped on robson that kinda thing. i also went down to surrey and i took a tour where a movie was being filmed and when to all the sets (new moon + eclipse) which was so fun for me because i not only got to see the scenes wher they filmed but i saw a part of vancouver that not everyone sees. most of the places were hidden and it was just an awsome couple of trips. i'd say to try to see the good in vancouver even if you dont think you can, because your city is so amazing and you are so lucky to live there now :)
moreResolved Question: 2010 Vancouver Olympics music performance band name?
February 23rd at Yaletown Live Olympic Venue there was a heavy metal(?) rock band from Canada's East Coast that performed just before the fireworks finale.
Anyone know that name of that band? I've looked everywhere I could.
Thanks.
It was Live City YALETOWN not Live City Vancouver (there were two sites), but thanks to you I found the band!
moreResolved Question: I am thinking of spending summer working in Vancouver. Is this good plan/Other suggestions?
I have been offered accomodation for the summer months in Yaletown, Vancouver. I am currently a student in Britain. If I did take this opportunity, I was wondering when it would be best to go? I was thinking end of June till end of August? I was hoping to get a job as a waitress, or server as they are called. How hard is it to get that sort of job in that area? As an outgoing, adventurous person, would I enjoy a summer working in Vancouver?
I am open to any other suggestions for what to do with my summer - free accomodation is definitely the bonus in Vancouver though. Expensive flights are the only issue for me.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!
moreVoting Question: Heavy metal band name?
I have searched everywhere I knew.
Vancouver Olympics 2010. Tuesday February 23rd. (?)
Yaletown Live Olympic Venue. Just before the nightly firework show.
There was a heavy metal band from the East Coast of Canada. They were awesome.
It was a great ending to a night for me and a friend of mine.
Can anyone help with that band's name?
MUCH appreciation. Its been really frustrating.
Thank you.
moreResolved Question: Where is the best place to watch the Olympic games in downtown Vancouver?
My family and I want to go downtown tonight to be in the midst of all the olympic hype especially with the Men's hockey game tonight (GO CANADA!), but we don't know where the best place is to watch. I've got LiveCity Yaletown and Robson Square on my list. Are there anymore places to watch the games at? And if so, which ones are the best? Thank you!
Richmond O Zone is also an option but we dont really want to go to richmond, we want to hit the streets of downtown!
Thank you again!

Hello, im moving to vancouver and confused of the geographic boundries.
Google map shows: west point grey, point grey, quilchina, southlands, riley park, south camble, grandview woodlands, grandview, kensignton cedar cottage, victoria frasier view, killarney, vancouver hights, hastings, cascade hights, renfrew, capitol hill and finally shelburn.
That makes sense right? Well not when you go on craigslist vancouver to look for an appartment: Kerrisdale, Yaletown, GM place - False Creek -Science World, Broadway/Cambie, downtown, new westminister, Garibaldi - Squamish, dollarton, langey, maple ridge, mount pleasant,College Park, Port Moody, maple town.
I know vancouver is majestic surounded by the ocean and rockies but im starting to think its kinda ``mythical`` too. All jokes aside can someone help me out with the geographics so that I can live in vancouver where the mail I recieve says city name:Vancouver! thanks!
moreResolved Question: Anyone know good websites for Furnished Rentals in Vancouver ?
I am moving to Vancouver on the 20th August this year (from Australia)with another friend, for the first month we have a place in Yaletown. But since this place is so expensive we can't stay there for the 2 years we will be in Vancouver. I have been looking for a 2 bedroom furnished rental but not sure as to where we should live or what sites to look on. If you have any info at all it'd be a great help, not wanting to spend more than $1500 a month.
Thank you
moreResolved Question: Should I get my makeup done for Grad/Prom?
I am graduating next month and am debating the pros and cons of getting my makeup done.
My mom says she'll pay for it if I really want it, but that she can't see how some stranger can do a better job than I can.
Is it worth it to pay the $35 to get it done at BeautyMark salon in Vancouver? (YaleTown)
moreResolved Question: Help me! Living in Vancouver?
I'm going to be moving to Vancouver late February... and I'm going to stay there for a year for school. I am TERRIFIED. I've never really lived all on my own (well I've had like my own apartment but my parents have never been more than an hour away...) and I'm trying so hard to feel excited but the more I think about it the more scared I get! So, I have a ton of questions.
-What's the weather going to be like? I stayed in Seattle for a month with my sister during the summer... that's the closest I've been. Is it similar? All I hear is rain-rain-rain-rain and I'm from Arizona... I have -no- winter clothes so I'm trying to decide what exactly I need.
-Is it safe just walking around alone? I'll probably be living in the smallest apartment I can find in Yaletown or West End. The school I'm going to (VFS) advertises having to work late and going home at all hours of the night. I grew up in suburbs so I really don't know much about how big cities are.
-Is food expensive? I'll probably just be getting take-out a lot of the time...
-Is there free wifi around? Like in coffee shops or anything... I want to be able to keep my phone and stay connected with everyone I can and the out-of-country data plan is REALLY expensive.
I'm sort of ashamed of myself for being so scared... every time one of my friends talks about how soon I'm moving and how excited I must be I have to change the subject :/ I think I just need some more info from people that live there... clear and honest answers are a plus for me :D Please help me put my mind at ease!
moreResolved Question: Vancouver, a safe city?
I moved to Vancouver a week ago and we are staying in downtown, at the limit of Yaletown. Every night or morning, we hear a couple non stop police sirens. That is way lots compared to Montreal! We are starting to ask ourselves if Vancouver is dangereous as city..?
ohh.. maybe it's the ambulances.. right! I will try watch out to see if that's the case. thx for all the info guys!

moreResolved Question: Anyone try this beer, Downtown Brown?
I think it's produced at a brewery called Lost Coast in Eureka, California. However, there are many beers like this. I had one called the exact same thing in Vancouver, BC at Yaletown Brewing Company and also one at Steamworks in Vancouver called Nirvana. Just wanted to know what anyone else thinks of this beer. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend you do!
Yes, very much like Newcastle. I LOVE Newcastle as well, but this beer has a bit more flavor.. it's nice to switch back and forth.
moreResolved Question: Thinking about visiting/moving to Vancouver...have some questions?
I am thinking of moving to Vancouver. However, I only want to live in a "downtown-ish." Nothing against the outer-areas or anything. But I am born and raised urbanite and want to live in a place where i can walk/bike to my local store, shops and restaurants. Plus I'm going to be living with a person, and we only have one car. So I don't want to be dependent on it (I am not looking to buy a car).
What is the cost of renting a decent sized (600 ft2 - 900 ft2) apt in either West End, Gastown, Chinatown or Yaletown (this does not need to be luxury)?
If someone could give me a sound description of the neighborhoods, I would greatly appreciate it.
How is public transportation? I have been to Portland, OR and they had a great system for a Pacific Northwest city.
moreResolved Question: Where should I look for Vancouver condo rentals apart from Craig's List?
I would like to find a 1 bedroom in Yaletown (preferably larger than 600 sq. ft.) that allows small dogs. Does anyone know where to search, as well as how much I should expect to spend? I already know it's expensive, but I would appreciate a realistic estimate.

Hi all, well i am planning to take admission in a college at Vancouver for higher studies. Since this is my first time i am a bit tensed and at the same time excited too. I have so many question for which i need someone who can answer me.
1.) How much will it cost for me to rent a shared flat/other housing unit, in Yaletown/ anywhere in West Hastings Street.
2.) Where can i get my food from? I cant goto restaurants daily? Are there some services that provides food for students and also dilivers it to students door and charges weekly/monthly/whatever? Or i will have to cook my food on my own?
3.) What are the taxi charges per mile within city.
4.) If i buy a bicycle. Can i bike it all over the city or to just some restricted areas? Will i require a special permit/licence, for it?
5.) How safe is the city. Coz my classes are of 18 hrs a day and i will be returning late hrs and then back early hrs to the classes.
6.) Which one amongst theTaxi/Buses/Tubes/Bicycles/Walk, is the best
moreResolved Question: Seek Vancouver Hotel or B&B in Yaletown or Downtown?
Looking for a nice weekend w/ the girlfriend in Vancouver so I'm seeking a decent stylish hotel or bed & Breakfast in either in downtown or perhaps Yaletown ideally (which I've heard is nice). A friend recommended Hotel Opus which looks fantastic but is a little pricey. (approaching $280/night).
Any other recommendations for something charming, hip or interesting, ideally in the $80-160 CAN range? I value quirky, cool and interesting over traditional business amenities (i.e. concierge, restaurant, spa etc.)

Hi! I know there is a construction for Canada Line at Pacific blvd. & Davie St. in Yaletown area of Vancouver.
I am about to sign a lease for an apt. in the area. And I am wondering how noisy it could be when I live there for a year or two.
When I looked at the apt., the noise was not bad. Anyone who lives next to the construction to give me an idea how bad it could be?
Thanks!
moreResolved Question: My girlfriend and I are moving out to Vancouver (BC) from the UK in June of this year...?
We spent time in LA (Venice) last year and loved it, but LA as a city is too disconnected, and so we decided to take a chance on Vancouver as a possible place to settle.
That said, where should we consider within the downtown
area (unless there's somewhere comparable?).
We're both in the fitness industry, and our focus will be on training, and finding a way to make some money there by setting up a business in that field (along with anything else that comes along!).
We're looking for the mix of being in a city where there's much to do, while having access to some natural surround, and Vancouver seems to score pretty high on that count. We've looked at Yaletown as an option as it looks like a nice area to be based, but without knowing it first hand, we're still only guessing.
We want to find a more rounded version of LA, where we can make some money, have plenty to do, and enjoy a good standard of living at the same time, with access to some scenery!!
Where should we be looking??
