The Coast Hotel Vancouver Questions and Answers
Resolved Question: Any suggestions for a reasonable hotel on the oregon coast?
Hi, I'm actually planning on travelling from vancouver to the oregon coast. Does anyone know of any reasonable hotels (i'd like to stay for a few days) but nice/decent? Also any suggestions of attractions? Is there are specific area I should stop at or spend different nights in different areas? I know of cannon beach, the caves, theres a waterfall out there, any others? thanks :) moreVoting Question: What should I doooooooooooooooooo?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Okay, so here's the plan(s). I've been planning to go to Bonnaroo this year for awhile now, BUT I saw online the "supposed" lineup and it was horrible. Dave Matthews Band? Really? Anywho, I have around 200ish saved up for that. I went to see Crystal Castles in Chicago on NYE and that was just amazing. Best night of my life. I can go into more detail if you'd like :). While waiting outside for two hours, I met this girl from San Fransisco who was also waiting in line. She was really cool and anywho I guess she'll be going to see CC again in Vancouver. I was invited and we're kind of planning on going IF the Bonnaroo lineup is rubbish. Now, the problem I'm having is which to choose. Problems: 1) I don't know if I'd be able to miss anymore days of school being that I'm almost positive I've missed the maximum amount (almost). 2) I don't know the girl from San Fran that well, so that would be a little awkward. And she's bringing a friend so I don't really know what to expect with that. I offered to bring my sister along (who went with me to see CC in Chicago) so it wouldn't be as awkward. Although, I think we'd all be too preoccupied with other things for it to be awkward. 3) BIG ONE. I'm not really sure how much the trip to Vancouver would be. I know the tickets are $40, the flight in is $130 to San Fran, and gas to Vancouver and hotel I'm not sure. I absolutely hate asking my mum for money, I'd feel horrible if it turned out to be expensive. Yeah, I don't have a job right now, I'm a loser. The lineup for B'roo comes out February 9, so pretty soon. BUT I think going to the west coast for a weekend would be just as amazing. We would leave late on the 25th, go sight seeing through Oregon and Washington on the 26th, and CC the 27th. <--THIS SEEMS VERY EXPENSIVE. The CC concert isn't until February 27, so I have little time to decide. Obviously with Bonnaroo, there's a lot more activities and bands to see and it's four days of fun, music, and good times. If CC does play Bonnaroo again this year, I'll most likely end up going. But to be able to go to the west coast and Vancouver, I think it would end being an EPIC road trip. Not to mention, getting to meet new people. Well, this was probably the most pointless topic ever posted on Yahoo! Answers. But I'd like your opinion on what I should do. And for any of you who think both are immature decisions and wastes of money, all I can really say is, "You Only Live Once". What's the point in living if you aren't enjoying yourself? I'll be off to college next year so I need to have fun while I'm young. Way off topic with that one hah. Thanksh! moreResolved Question: What is the world coming to ?

is the "Coast Harborside Hotel&Marina" a good hotel? (in victoria) me and my family (4 people) are going to stay there for 3 days and 2 nights and i am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so is it a good hotel? moreResolved Question: Traveling with Amtrak and Greyhound?
This summer, I will be traveling across the west coast on amtrak and greyhound for some concerts. I've heard that amtrak sometimes gets delayed on longer trips, so I was just wondering if I'll have enough time from getting off the train to arriving at these venues. 1. Vancouver to Fresno, arrives at 11:51am, 27hrs, about 2 hrs to check into hotel, eat and travel to venue 2. san jose to portland, arrives at 3:40pm, 19hrs, about 1 hr for hotel, dinner, and travel to venue 3. seattle to sacramento, arrives at 6:15am, 20hrs, about 2hrs for hotel and travel to venue The concerts start at 7pm. Please offer any other advice if you have some as this is my first time with amtrak/greyhound. Thanks. *** The times for hotel, dinner, etc. are not the times I have to get from the station to the arena. The concerts start at 7pm, which means that in Fresno I have approx. 7hrs extra, in Portland I have 3hrs extra, and in Sacramento I have 12hrs extra (I think this one has well enough time at least) moreResolved Question: Should the NHL switch to the 2-3-2 playoff series format?
Let's face it. Home-ice just doesn't matter as it used to. Even the NHL players will tell you that. For one thing, hockey is an indoor sport, and second, most hockey arenas have become so commercialized and Orwellian that you really can't tell the difference between the Wachovia Center and the TD Banknorth Garden. The only exceptions to this rule are arenas like Madison Square Garden or Joe Louis Arena. MLB uses the 2-3-2 format for the LCS as well as the World Series. The NBA uses it only for the Finals (they started it in 1985, after two consecutive years which saw the Celtics-Lakers and 76ers-Lakers, and it was way too much travel involved). Basically, the 2-3-2 format would save money (travel and hotels etc) for teams, networks and the league. Player fatigue would be reduced and games would be high-energy, more action, more hits and more enjoyable for the fans. Can you imagine a Stanley Cup Finals with Boston vs. Vancouver? Or Carolina vs. Anaheim? You'd have to travel between the east and west coasts 4 times in 10 days. That's too much. The NHL should consider doing this at leasy for the Stanley Cup Finals, even if they don't want to do it for the first three rounds. Mike: you're absolutely right. The teams in the West would LOVE to have the 2-3-2 format. But what about the teams in the *East*? You forgot about them, they would love it too. Teams like Dallas or St. Louis might not care very much since they're 3 hours to either coast, but yeah the East teams and the West teams would jump at the idea like you said. moreResolved Question: I am going to NYC in two months and have cousins coming along?
We booked the Hotel Carter for them because it was cheap (they're paying for the hotel but I booked it so I chose a cheap one to save them money) and they are coming in from the west coast (Vancouver, BC). We would only be staying in NYC for one night with a tour group from Toronto so we could only see each other for that long. I was wondering if Hotel Carter is a upper class hotel? Because I looked at the building's pictures and it seemed reasonable for a $100 per night hotel to me. moreResolved Question: where are safe places to park and camp on my pacific coast roadtrip?
I'm taking a solo road trip up the Pacific Coast from LA to Vancouver and back, and I plan on taking about a month to do it. I dont want to stay in a hotel most nights, are there places I can stop for the night and sleep in a tent without finding an official campground that cost $30? moreResolved Question: What stuff is there to do around the Coast Stanley hotel in Downtown Vancouver BC?

I'm purchasing the North American Rail pass from Amtrak for the month of August. This allows me unlimited travel for 30days on Amtrak and Canada's VIA rail system. I'll be departing from the San Francisco Area on the Coast Starlight which I'll take to Seattle, then Vancouver,B.C. From there I want to take a line that goes all the way to Toronto and eventually to Nova Scotia. I have no set plans, so where should I go? What should I see, where to stop?? I'm a 25 year old student, female and will be traveling alone. While I'm not on a tight budget, I would like to be a but frugal with it, so fancy hotels are out of the question. I'm into geology so places with great rocks would be key. Where do you suggest and why?? -I've been to banff and jasper briefly - Nova Scotia was beautiful and I definately plan to go back - Never been to the Canadian Plains! What's out there? I want to stop at as many places as possible on the way out to Nova Scotia and back. Been to Lake Louise, gorgeous glacial flour lake. Yes, Halifax, Toronto, Montral, Quebec, Vancouver, but what is a must see/do there?? moreResolved Question: Crossing Border in a Tour Bus?
I'm just asking for a friend. She's going to be going on one of those tour bus vacations from Vancouver BC down to the States, and she was wondering what the experience is like (compared to driving for example). She hasn't been on a tour bus and crossed borders before so she was just wondering what it's like and the differences. She said she thought hearing somewhere that it's less of a hassle? Do border guards (both going into US, and re-entry back into Canada) do searches for tour bus (like in cars sometimes? She's not going on one of those chartered buses, but one of those tour company buses with like 5 day trips including hotel etc. along the west coast. Besides the usual ID for land travel (passports not needed yet, right?), is there anything else? Is it less of a hassle in comparison to going via car? moreResolved Question: Christmas Trip: What city should I go to on the west coast? Help me pick!!?
HELP! I live in Southern California and my husband and I want to get away for a few days during Christmas. We want to travel somewhere on the west coast or somewhere quick that is less than a 3 hour flight from Los Angeles. Some cities we have in mind are: Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, San Diego, Phoenix, Denver, and anywhere else. Please let us know some cool areas and why you think they are great. I have a lot of Hilton points so it has to be somewhere where I can use those points for the hotel stay. Thanks! We've been to Las Vegas before. Northern Cali..where abouts? I love San Fran but we were just there in July. Umm, Cambria sounds great. I have some friends that highly recommend that and going to Hearst Castle. moreThe Coast Hotel Vancouver News
