Open Question: Am I considered a devotee?

I feel sexually attracted to men with Asperger's and I find aspie women to be cute. (Aspie is a term for people who have AS in case anyone doesn't know). Does that make me a devotee? What about people with disabilities who are attracted to other people with disabilities? Are they considered to be a devotee? But ironically I am not married to an aspie even though he has traits but that is not why I married him. I married him because I liked how he treated me and how much he understood me and he is very patient with me and helps me out in social situations and keeps me grounded. I never wanted to limit myself to aspies only even though I had a fantasy to marry one but I didn't want such a rigid criteria. It had to depend on what kind of people they are and it wouldn't matter if they had it or not.  more

Open Question: I signed a contract with a dealership and now they're calling me telling me my trade in isnt worth the same?

Ok, I went into a BMW dealership, and purchased 5 cars (my whole family). I traded in my car, and signed for a finance amount (X amount). Well the dealership called me today and said my trade in was worth 5k less then they offered. I asked them "why didn't you run the VIN and appraise the car before telling me the value and putting it in the contract?" The guy said, " well you said it was a Jeep Commander limited, but it was actually a Jeep Commander 4x4" I explained to him that the contract states the terms clearly, and what they offered me for the trade in, and this can cause a great inconvience for me as I can't afford to pay them back 5k. The sales person then told me to he can accept 2500 or return the car. Now my question is, considering I have all this in contract, shouldn't the dealership have to take the loss? It was thier job to run the VIN and appraise the car before selling it to me. Are there any legal implications for me not returning it since I have verything in contract? Or should I take thier deal? I contacted my attorney and was told not to worry about it, since the contract states the terms, but I was seeing if anyone in the finance industry could give me some guidance here. The entire 5 car purchase was based on the trade in value of our cars, otherwise we would not have purchased anything. I can't imagine anyone returning to a dealership and saying "here I don't like the car, give me my money back" so how could they ask me to pay more or return the vechile? Let me know, thanks.  more

Open Question: Why Do You Think the Founding Fathers failed to Set Term Limits for the Congress, Who Now Rules like?

an Aristocracy than an Elected Public Servants who govern the will of the people? This congress acts like a Ruling Monarchy--rather than servants of the people. Why did the founders not realise that w.out term limits, the elected people would acts like dictators?  more

Open Question: Whatever happened term limits?

It is frustrating when you see all the abuses of power from congress, both illegal or just plain unethical. There's not enough room or time cite them all here. Just some recent ones: Like Kerry parking his boat in a different state to avoid taxes he helped passed, Charlie Rangel - you name it with this guy, anything from tax evasion to improper use of Congressional stationary to promote his own financial interest. Most recently accepting trips to conferences in the Caribbean financed by corporate interests to encourage him to vote for bailouts. They even use a phrase among themselves as "getting their purple" which means when a new member of congress realizes he is part of the elite and acts that way, insisting doors are held open and have ing the people serve them (instead of the other way around) abandoning their ideals and causes. Why is it so GD hard to get term limits passed? My guess is that it's like asking the elites to vote for a law that would make them step back into the real world with us and live under the laws they created, Or maybe the corporate powers that "own" them are better organized and funded then joe taxpayer. We rarely even hear the phrase "term limits" anymore. Other thoughts or reasons as to why we leave these criminals in charge?  more

Open Question: What is the GOP opposing campaign reform for?

Wow what a shock that the GOP is going to filibuster something this administration tries to do. They have only filibustered this administration more in a year and a half than any two term president in the history of the U.S. Stalling and hoping for a slow recovery in jobs and the economy or hoping for failure is all the GOP have to run on in Nov. Any meaningful legislation that would produce immediate results is a stake in the heart of the GOP and right wing agenda. They cannot afford to allow the Dems anything that might be perceived as a feather in their cap. The GOP can't run on their successes because they don't have any. All they have is hope that the Dems and the country fail and then they might regain control in the House and Senate. If that happens they will just block anything the President wants to legislate and then in 2012 point to the failed (obstructed would be more accurate) policies of Obama and the Dems and try to regain total control. They will then run rampant and blame any failures during their rule on Obama and the Dems. You see they have no time limit on blame. Obama and the Dems have less than 18mos. to point the finger of blame but they can blame the economy on Freddie, Fannie , and Clinton even though that was more than a decade ago. They can also try and blame 9/11 on Clinton even though they had been in charge a little longer than Obama has now. Even though Clinton was the first to ever launch an attack on Bin Laden and the GOP cried "Wag the Dog" he's trying to take the attention off Monica Lewinsky. They said Bin Laden posed no significant threat to the U.S. It's funny how the rules they place on the Dems do not apply to them... The GOP has been getting paid for the last year not to solve America's problems but simply to obstruct, demonize and delay recovery. The group that proclaim to be the most religious and descent are the same ones who worry more about the cost of compassion and re-electing their party than they do the best interests of the citizens and the country. They want a single party system. Theirs. That is the true definition of Communism... They have acted like sore losers since day one and continue to do so and all I know is grandma wasn't murdered, BinLaden is not staying in the Lincoln bedroom, I haven't seen any Fema concentration camps, I'm white and neither me nor my children have been murdered by the black panthers, and the sky did not fall - so to believe that the GOP cares about anything but defending Wall St., apologizing to the oil companies or trying to divide the country either by race, wealth, patriotism and capitalism vs. Communism, Socialism, or through fear and obstructing in an attempt to regain power speaks volumes for what their true agenda is. Clear to any one with an open mind who form their own opinion based on facts rather than the closed minded people who must be taught with a chalkboard and by be inundated by bias right wing reporting like Fox and their crew of commentators and contributors Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, Lynn Cheney, Milke Huckabee, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reily. I wonder why with a group like that someone could say they are bias to the right and the GOP? I wonder why?...  more

Resolved Question: What are your top five ways to balance the budget, long term?

Mine are 1. Collapse any two governmental departments that do basically the same thing into one department 2. End the wars and our obligations overseas 3. Tort reform in congress; make sure that all bills that come out of a committee are short and read in full by everyone that votes on them, and limit the time and resources that committees have available to them. 4. Make every security related branch that has taken money from the government since 9-11 explain what its job is, why it has not done its job yet, when its job will be done, and why it still needs money. Once they have all had to sing for their supper, and their resources have been audited, they would be collapsed as per 1. 5. Let every state make its own drug policy and end federal drug enforcement. Federal law will still back up state law enforcement when necessary.  more

Resolved Question: My credit has gotten worse?

Hi. Is my credit a lot worse now? When I was only 20, I already had close to $50,000 total credit limit from only three credit cards combined and was already a platinum card holder. Today, I am 33 and have only about $9,000 total credit limit from around five credit cards. The last time I tried to open a credit card, I was given only $500 limit. I am not carrying any balances on my credit cards at the moment. I pay them off at the end of every month and really just use my Amazon rewards card now. Part of what happened is I didn't use some cards and they closed with their high credit limits. Others got their credit limit lowered within the last couple years when I reported cards lost/stolen and got replacements. I've paid all my credit card payments on time for the most part, except maybe one late payment once or twice a year that was quickly paid a week after the due date. I did have lates on my student loan payments, especially when I was mentally ill, but I think everything got taken care of possibly and now all the student loans are going to be written off due to permanent disability. My question is has my credit really gotten so much worse? Or is it the economy also? Is that why I was approved for only $500 for the last credit card I opened? I opened it hoping to transfer $4,000 through a balance transfer. Luckily, I got a personal loan instead since the limit was only approved for $500. My second question is I have five credit cards now (that I know of), should I try to open another one? Four bank ones and one store credit card. My other credit cards closed due to inactivity. I called and checked. I have an offer for Discover. I used to have one of their cards a long time ago before I closed it over 10 years ago. If I get accepted and spend $799 in 3 months, they will give me $100 cash free. There is no annual fee. How will this affect my credit? In the long term 'cause I know it will lower my credit score in the short term? Please let me know. My third question is I recently got an American Express offer for a credit card in the mail. I shredded it, but does that mean my credit is good enough that I got an American Express offer? Or does everyone get them? The last time I checked, my credit score was 750. That's just average, right? I am waiting for my student loans to be written off before I check my credit report and score again. Thanks! Whoops! I forgot a credit card and underestimated my total credit limit. It is $18,400 totaled from four credit cards and two store credit cards.  more

Resolved Question: Why isn't marijuana decriminalized yet?

Tobacco, alcohol and caffeine are all legal. Physical dependence develops when using any of these three frequently. All three have been linked to health problems and deaths. Although caffeine is clearly the more benign of the 3 legal drugs, deaths can and have resulted because of stomach ulcers or irregular heartbeat due to long-term consumption. Meanwhile, marijuana is not physically addictive and has been shown in studies to even inhibit the growth of cancer cells: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/17/health/webmd/main2696726.shtml http://www.webmd.com/cancer/brain-cancer/news/20090401/marijuana-chemical-may-fight-brain-cancer Not to mention that legalizing marijuana would allow us to have hemp farms once again in the US. A whole new industry and jobs could be created with the legalization. Decriminalizing marijuana would also be a great way to take the legs out from underneath illegal drug traffickers like the Mexican narcotraficos who are violent and will stop at nothing to make a profit. Legalizing marijuana would make the price plummet and make it a non-profitable business to engage in, limiting their options to other prohibited drugs. The only argument against marijuana legalization is the fact that inhalation of smoke is not good for humans. However, if marijuana were legal, people would be able to buy more marijuana for less money and consume it orally in cakes, soups and teas without any need to inhale the smoke. People smoke it because they get more benefit from a smaller amount this way. So again... why isn't marijuana decriminalized yet?  more

Open Question: Are Gift Cards/Vouchers a "Rip Off" ?

Just over two years ago, I received a WH Smith Gift-card for £15. I put the "gift" safely away, and now I find I can't use it. Why? Because their "Rip Off" Terms and Conditions say that it will expire in 24 months. In my view, WH Smith (allegedly) "stole" the money. The person that bought my gift card was part of the contractual agreement, NOT me. I can't see "how", legally, WH Smith can enforce their lime limit upon me, as I was not part of, and did not agree to their terms and conditions in the first place, the contractual terms were not transferable to me. Also, my brother bought me £70 of Woolworth's vouchers, just before they "went to the wall", other companies (of the Kingfisher plc Group) were stated on the voucher, so, in theory, I could have spent the vouchers there - but after Woolies went bust, none of the other Kingfisher Group plc companies would accept them. Why? Because the company that administered the vouchers was part of Woolworths, and, therefore, also "went to the wall". These companies like to take our money, but don't uphold their "part of the bargain", and come up with "some excuse". PLEASE, PLEASE, be aware of buying Gift Cards/Vouchers in the Future. Please tell us of your bad, and also good, experiences.  more

Resolved Question: When was the first time Congressional term limits was contemplated?

What where the limits and why did they not happen? Shamus hit it. The most prevalent concept of Term Limits was no more than 6 years in 10 as a member of the House. Senate was not really considered at this point since they were appointed by State Legislatures. As noted it was rejected by having regular elections, the want to keep the best and most experienced Statesman, and the concept being member of Congress was seen as a civic duty vice actual career.  more

Resolved Question: Husband excludes me from his social life?

I have a long-term problem, which comes to a head every so often, but I need some insight into what causes and why I react to it the way I do. The problem is this, I have been married for 29 years, throughout this time my husband has preferred a separate social life. Before children he would be often be out but we also went out together but rarely with others. About 10 years after we met we ended up working for the same firm and therefore I knew his work friends as they were people I socialised with as well. These are the group of friends he still has (the only friends),thought the firm has now closed . Since children (now 12 and 15) our joint social life was limited but we still made an effort to go out together. 4 years ago after a family day out we returned home and said he was going to Nigel's party, Nigel a member of the work group lives in the next road. . I asked in a friendly way if I was invite, I was told I was not and off he went, I was very upset. By chance I had a new friend who turned out to be Nigel’s niece, she asked me if I had attended Nigel’s party I told her no and eventually why not, she then brought this up with Nigel, of course it wasn’t Nigel who didn’t want me to attend, but he did say he and the others in the group did get fed-up with me because I didn’t attend social events I’d been invited to over the years, my husband would say that I was busy and attend by himself. The following year Nigel asked me personally and I attended. I did feel uncomfortable as old work colleagues said things like ‘Hey Hello stranger why do you never come out etc.’ There are other social events but again I’m not invited to many, including ones were others bring partners. After one I did attend another ex-work friend said to me, Deborah I’ve just realised something, all this time we thought you were being anti-social Richard would say you didn’t want to attend an event but you really did want too didn’t you. We had a massive row about this but the only thing to change is that I now feel embarrassed about joining in with the group. One event is the last day of every month and Richard organises it, by sending an email to about 50 people, only 5 or 6 turn out and after a row he included me on the email list but went to the event without saying anything to me about going and Richard even puts ‘Richard out’ in the diary in January for the last day of each month. I just don’t feel welcome. I am now not invited to anything. Richard doesn’t tell me he is thinking of going to an event he just puts it in the family diary, as Richard out at 7o‘clock. A month a go I looked through his desk to see if I can find out where he was going, I found two tickets for a special event. I moaned to a friend about this and by chance she said she was going with a group of friends and way didn’t I join them. So I bought ticket and put that I would attend the event in the family diary. When Richard notice this he said ‘oh are you going to such and such as well, Yes I said who are you going with, ‘Laura the ex-work friend. I said I was going to town early to see an exhibition first, He and Laura were going later, I was delayed and I suspected we might be getting the same train, I then hear him ring her to delay their journey, When I got to town I waited at the station to see if the caught the next train but they didn’t. I went to the concert and felt very uncomfortable that my husband was sitting with another woman, (though I don’t think they are having an affair) on the opposite side of the concert hall. I didn’t even meet up with my friend, as I need to get home early. This friend by the way was a work mate of my husband in a firm before me joined my firm, she said to me that Richard keep me a secret and didn’t invite me to events when others brought their partners. She said she wondered if I was a bit dull, stay at home type but of course I’m not! When I first met her about 5 years ago she had a big party and we were both invited Richard said’ what’s she invited you for‘ I have a good social life I’ve made new friends through sport and the internet but what I haven’t got is couple friends which most people of my age seem to have, because he has his social circle and I have mine. H doesn’t like meeting new people and trying new things, but I used to ask him. Since finding out that he has excluded me I’ve done more and more things on my own and not invited him so we are in a vicious circle. What I can’t understand is why he has done this? And why I still feel jealous? And why the hell don’t we split up!  more

Resolved Question: What is wrong with saying No?

As a parent I tell my child No all the time. No, he cannot jump just to see if he can fly. No he can't have a toy every time we're in the store just because he wants one. No he can't have dessert before dinner even if he's starving right this very minute. I can see that there needs to be restraint and limits. It might make him happy in the short term but in the long term can be harmful. Putting a bandaid on a broken arm isn't going to fix it; we have to reset the arm and cast it and no that's not going to feel very good. So thinking as a parent, and looking at an out of control government...I feel like someone needs to say no. Just like someone needs to say no to an out of control spoiled child who throws a tantrum when they don't get their way. The parent is blamed and is the bad guy. No. You can't keep paying for things when we're already so deeply in debt. No. You can't have me hold your hand for everything; there gets to be a point where you have to take what you learned and go out on your own and try. For those of you who are parents, do you ever say no to your children? And why do you say no? $13 Trillion debt. It's out of control.  more

Resolved Question: Why did 0baama's economics advisor Larry Summers write that unemployment payments should be LIMITED?

The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics "Unemployment" by Lawrence H. Summers First, government assistance increases the measure of unemployment by prompting people who are not working to claim that they are looking for work even when they are not. --- The second way government assistance programs contribute to long-term unemployment is by providing an incentive, and the means, not to work. http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Unemployment.html  more

Resolved Question: Don't liberals realize that the term "free speech zone" for college campuses is an oxymoron?

Liberal administrators in dozens of universities have instituted these so called free speech zones...why is it so difficult for them to see that what they are doing is unconstitutional? Isn't that like saying that free speech does not exist in the areas of campus outside the zones? Is this typical liberal logic? excerpt... University officials have argued that free-speech zones are content-neutral and don’t ban student expression. Along this line of thinking, the policies are constitutionally acceptable because they merely regulate where the speech takes place as opposed to whether the speech can take place at all. Controversies have erupted at several public universities including New Mexico State University, West Virginia University, the University of Mississippi and Florida State University to name a few. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, a Philadelphia-based civil liberties group, is advocating strongly against free-speech-zone policies. Thor Halvorssen, the group’s executive director, told a newspaper: “There are dozens of college campuses across the U.S. with free speech zones. We plan to take each one down, one by one. By creating zones, the administration is saying that free speech does not exist in the areas of campus outside the zones.” 1 The group’s president, Alan Charles Kors, has called free-speech zones “absurdly named” because they limit freedom of speech. 2 http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/speech/pubcollege/topic.aspx?topic=free-speech_zones  more

Resolved Question: How can we all settle on common ground?

To let go of our *need* to judge, insult or bash others in terms of who they are and what they believe in. Since we know we're humans, imperfect and limited in knowledge and experience. We also know that we shouldn't be judging one another. It's the human nature that drives us to find faults in others, and we know of this nature, yet we don't seem to fight it. Why not leave judging for the appropriate authority (God)? I'm sure we are all capable of doing that if we just use our God given will.  more

Resolved Question: Extreme Capitalism more harmful than extreme socialism?

To start out with I'd like to say I am a capitalist, I like to characterize myself as independent, yet I learn slightly more to the right than the left. Just asking the question for the sake of learning, being open-minded, and so on. But just a thought: Could capitalism be worse in the sense that at its maximum the extremely wealthy (business tycoons, those who own corporations, etc.) are the most powerful as compared to the government being the most powerful because of an influx of expansion and control? Meaning simply – those in government do not have a sense or source of perpetual power, eventually they must be re-elected or thrown out. However, capitalistically, tycoons do not have an end to their “term” and do not have a limit to where they can and cannot thrive. Remember, this is just theoretical. Obviously this is disregarding many other elements of why socialism would be ineffective for the United States. PLEASE read the whole question, if anything at least read the fourth paragraph. It has my main point. I am not pro-socialism. Skyhawk: I see your point and clearly understand it, but that is not the aspect I am illuminating with this question.  more

Resolved Question: Atheist... Why......?

Why do you say God does not exist? Why do you say there is no evidence? Consider the human hand. No other species can even begin to equal humanity's manual skills. "The human hand is capable of both brute strength and incredible finesse. It carries out hard labour yet is sensitive to nuances of texture and form, so much so that it can serve as a substitute eye to the blind...The human hand is unique in having two distinct grips...Not only can several items such as coins be held firmly in the palm with several fingers but also, simultaneously, the other thumb can be used to hold and turn a car key" Consider that our brain takes just a micro-second for conscious functions that we perform daily. This encompasses a vast gamut of chores that are light years ahead of the most sophisticated computer chip. Some examples are communication, data processing, organizing, sleeping, writing, balancing our bank account and finances — or, messing with them — not to speak of health, exercise, career and a host of other activities. Our brain works in an ever-changing environment, or situation. It adapts to change at the drop of a thought. In the process, it channels our inner resources to enable us to grow in terms of knowledge, and also emotionally, logically and spiritually. Besides, it coordinates and regulates other functions at the speed of thought — emotions and actions, such as laughing, crying, blushing at the prospect of getting engaged, or going through stress just before an examination, or presentation. The brain also regulates and maintains our psychical, psychological, and physiological systems. It heals and restores our body to optimal health too, after an illness, or even a minor injury. You may call our brain the seat of healing — this is not limited to the external aspect, the skin. It also relates to the emotional processes of our being that exist deep within us. The therapeutic power of our brain is our power to heal at every level of evolution. It is not limited to just the repairing process; it also represents an ongoing, incessant ability to handle new situations, pressures or stresses. Just as much as our mind-body-spirit dimension is interconnected, so are our emotions, feelings, aspirations, struggles and triumphs. This is best expressed by the famed two-word phrase, ‘gut feeling.’ This is an emotional feeling, all right, but it connotes a deep-seated meaning — one that is conveyed on our face, through our eyes. It does not take a psychologist much to decipher if someone is lying. If the Earth was just one degree closer to or further away from the Sun, all life as we know it would not exist. This is true. If the Earth was just one degree closer to or further away from the Sun than all life as we know it would not exist. @ alexface: 1) In answer to your paragraphs about the human body; our bodies aren't perfect. There are many imperfections. Also, the reason our bodies are good at functioning is because they've adapted in order to do so. WHO DO YOU THINK MADE OUR BRAIN TO ADAPT!!!! 2) In answer to your final paragraph; if the Earth were* one degree closer to or further away from the sun, all life would have adapted to that instead. IF THE EARTH WAS ONE INCH CLOSER TO THE SUN, IT WOULD BURN - IF IT WAS ONE INCH FURTHER AWAY IT WOULD FREEZE! THERE WOULD BE NO EARTH!!!!!!!!! I FEEL SO SORRY FOR YOU ATHEIST BECAUSE YOU ABSOLUTELY MAKE NO SENSE...YOU TYPE ANSWERS TO THIS QUESTION AND YOUR BRAIN AND HAND ARE WORKING TOGETHER WITH EACH OTHER AND STILL YOU SAY THERE IS NO GOD....SO THIS IS ALL A BIG COINCIDENCE! GREAT EXPLANATIONS! LOL @muddy9069; are you babbling or are you actually TRYING to ask a question? @alexface: The Earth's seasons are not caused by the differences in the *distance* from the Sun throughout the year (these differences are extremely small). The seasons are the result of the tilt of the Earth's axis. The Earth's axis is tilted from perpendicular to the plane of the ecliptic by 23.45°. This tilting is what gives us the four seasons of the year - spring, summer, autumn (fall) and winter. Since the axis is tilted, different parts of the globe are oriented towards the Sun at different times of the year. Good try! LOL omg: i can not sop LAUGHINGH! These people are so funny...whoever wants to join in...come on...these guys are just rambling! Alexface: Thanks for the laugh! I'm done...you guys have proved me right! Resolved Question: Do you think Henry Kissinger was correct On The Coming Global World Order?

According to Henry Kissinger: "Now, there is a need for a new world order, but that to me is sort of the outline, by which some day, in the next few years, a solution will emerge, that people will look into that couldron and decide that they have to learn their limits...not just me but everybody else." "I want to make one point about globalisation: it is always discussed in economic terms; that everybody is better off, but that is only partially, true. Everybody is better of on the average, but in some countries or in some regions, people lose their jobs; major adjustments have to be made - that's the engine of globalisation. The people who are disadvantaged by the process look to their governments for solutions, but the governments are national and the problem is global." This is the new world order that Kissinger talks about. It will affect everyone, but it seems, that the poor will be greatly affected, and they will have no-one to turn to, not even their government, whereas if you are reasonbly well off you will perhaps do okay. Those who lose their jobs in their countries or regions will turn to their government for help and they will be deserted by their government, and unions and dissident factions will rise up in anger. Do you think it will come to this? Do you believe massive social injustice will have to be addressed, and the government will not be in any position to help them? Why or Why not? Please state what your country so I can better understand your reply.  more

Resolved Question: In legal terms what is considered Libel?

With my limited knowledge of the term 'libel'. Would this example be considered the same? Example: A certified medical staff member of a hospital leaves work early, goes to the emergency room complaining of dizziness. A emergency room nurse practitioner see the patient and ask what seems to be the problem? The patient tells the nurse "about the dizziness and that they have some left side neck pain. But they are not there for the neck pain just the dizziness, and that they are already being treated by a pain doctor for their neck problems. The patient goes on to tell the nurse that they DO NOT WANT PAIN MEDICATION because they will take their medication prescribed by their doctor when they get home." This patient re-enforced twice that they didn't want the medication, and this was before any was offered to them. The nurse tells the patient that she will be trying to reach the patient's pain doctor while the patient goes for a CT scan. When the patient returns from the scan, the nurse enters the exam from with two pain medications, one by injection and the other pills. The patient thinks that the nurse had spoken with their doctor about this, and the doctor wants them to take the medication. Later the patient is followed up by the pain doctor. They have a conversation about the ER visit, and what medication was given. The patient doesn't think anymore of it and goes home. After giving the entire incident some thought. The patient goes back to the hospital and request a copy of the that day's medical record. In the record it states: Nurse calls patient pain doctor to inform the that their patient is in the emergency room for dizziness, and neck pain. The doctor states they just saw that patient one day prior to the ER, and that the patient is there seeking pain medication. Aftermath: The patient confronted the doctor and showed her the report. The doctor stated that she didn't say that, and she didn't understand why they worded it that way. 1. the patient wasn't there for neck pain. 2. that report has had a rippling effect since viewed by other doctors, that have made SOME of their health care decisions based on the written statement about the patient seeking pain medication. EX: that same patient was sent by ambulance for again passing out from dizziness to that same ER. Patient was catatonic on arrival and unable to clearly speak. When they fell they injured their shoulder, and was in great pain. But x-rays and ct scan showed no fractures. Unfortunately for that patient THE SAME NURSE was assigned to them. The doctor wrote based on the previous previous report, pain medication will not be given at this time. The out patient medications maybe a contributing factor for the dizziness. Side Note: This patient got his condition prior to seeing a pain doctor. They sustain the dizzy episodes when they had a neck massage. Question: Is what was written in the report about the patient "seeking pain medication" considered 'Libel'?  more

Voting Question: Why is my jaw pain helped by diazepam and no other medicine?

Pain in R tmj 3.5 years and worsening. No muscle pain that I can identify. All pain centered over joint. Bilateral disc dislocation with reduction. Diazepem offers some relief. Why does this help and nothing else does? I have taken, but not limited to: Muscle relaxers: Flexiril, Robaxin, Soma NSAIDs - Prescription Ibuprofen, OTC Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin Steroids: Prednisone Neuralgia Meds: Neurontin, Lyrica Pain Meds: Hydrocodone, Tramadol, Darvocet - none long term Antidepressants - SSRIs: Paxil, Zoloft Tricyclic Antidepressants - Amitryptaline Nothing else has remotely touched the pain. Why only diazepam? What other medication would have a similar mechanism as diazepam? P.S. Posted another question about my TMJ symptoms - had two answers sent via e-mail, but they will not show up on yahoo answers. What's up with that? Thanks!  more

Resolved Question: Are you a rationalist or an empiricist? Theist, Atheist, or Agnostic?

I majored in Philosophy and this was one of the most interesting subjects I crossed. Believe it or not the vast majority or people do not even know what an empiricist is or the real definition of a rationalist. That is great if you do. They are both philosophical terms. By reading the following, please afterward tell me which one you are and why. I am very interested. (don't worry, although it appears long it's not too boring) (: An empiricist is someone who believes in senses, experience, and the physical world. An empiricist might strongly believe in human discovery on Earth, like science, since they mainly believe in observations, senses, and experiences. The vast majority of empiricists are atheists. It is actually very rare to find a real atheist who isn't an empiricist. They are usually pretty straight forward and usually believe Earth science contains answers to anything. They usually do not believe in the external world or Theism because there is no physical proof or discovery of it. Some believe in paranormal activities though, because there are some limited sciences discovered to that subject. A rationalist is someone who does NOT believe in senses, observations, or experiences. They believe in reason. Applying Earths sciences to the external world would be considered irrational to a rationalist. The vast majority of rationalists believe it or not are Theists because they believe in an external world. They believe in the infinite question of "why" and that Earths sciences aren't the total reason why we are here. They do not believe the physical world is the total truth, and believe senses can deceive. For example, a goldfish in a pond might believe in it's world but does not know what the rest of the external world is. Most rationalists are also humanists, which means they don't believe human discovery is the final truth and that human discovery will always change because of our senses. An agnostic believe it or not is usually one who "sits on the fence" between rationalism and empiricism. They usually believe in both things, whereas an atheist is strictly empirical with senses and a theist is strictly rational with reason. Skeptikitten, thanks for clarifying my definition for agnosticism. I didn't really mean to lump the two together but it ended up that way because I didn't want to make it too long so I kinda cut it short lol. But thanks, and I agree on the agnostic atheism thing you said. ker: yes, 2009 random panther: thanks for adding that also. and thanks for finding my question interesting haha i love it when people do that. [= also to others, i'd like to add that rationalists still believe in the physical world like empiricists, but believe that it is not the answer to everything or the reason why we are here. i tried not to make rationalism too long, it's kind of hard to explain for people who don't think that type of way.  more

Resolved Question: Do you think we should get rid of master numbers [ numerology]?

and keep numbers 1-9 read what this lady has to say =] MASTER NUMBERS The longer I study and think about numerology, the more disenchanted I get with the concept of "Master Numbers." My first concerns arose when the traditional 11 and 22 master number were enjoined by 33/6, 44/8, 55/1, and 66/3. All of these latter day master numbers seemed to be wanting their shot at greatness, too. For years I maintained a staunch conservative resistance to this change, and stuck with the original masters and excluded the new pretenders. Over the years, this has upset a few 33/6s along the way. But I steadfastly sent them on their way to find others who would feed their vanity and good fortune (in an ego sense) of being born on one of those rare dates producing a total of 33. On reflection, it's hard to justify why, if the 11 can syphon off all of the potential superlatives of the spiritual 2, and 22 can steal the glory from the hardworking 4, then why can't the 33s do the same to the naturally nurturing 6. Seems only fair. But with most of the optimal trails of 2 and 4 expended on their "higher level" brethren, these two solid citizens are left with delineations reflecting personages resigned to the ordinary and humdrum. To me it is very hard to read what numerologists say about 1 through 9, without coming away with the sense that the authors believe that the higher the number the more potential for the person. The 2 and 4 are usually particularly drab, indeed. I just have a hard time accepting this. I hold firmly to the idea that all numbers are totally and without qualification equal in terms of human potential. It is simply that, that potential manifests, thankfully, in a wide array of different kinds of people. Further on this, I have the sense that upon learning one is a "master", the reaction can go a couple of different ways. Neither are very desirable in my view. In some, the discovery that your Life Path number or Destiny number is one of the master numbers can be a little freaky and intimidating. Not knowing what you are supposed to do with this wonderful "gift" can cause confusion and even paranoia. Not very healthy when a reading of the root number would give a much more accurate picture for both the 2 and the 4. With the potential for greatness included in the more comprehensive reads, it is far better to see the nature of your being and what the potentials are likely to be. As a member of this crowd with my 11/2 Destiny number, I'm feeling better already knowing that I no longer have to be so illuminating. The other group of masters proudly hail their superlative status. They adopt the view that they are somehow better than all of their single digit peers. Stands to reason, doesn't it? Their number is a master number and not just everyone is a has such a designation. This sort of ego trip flies in the face of master number concept. Surely these folks are living on the negative side of their master number. They are sitting around just waiting for that greatness to appear. They would be well advised to revisit the root number and learn the lessons there with a sense of humility. So, I have limited the amount of information on the site regarding master numbers, and I have incorporated the superlatives into the root single digit number instead. If your date of birth or the letters in your names adds up to one of the master numbers, 11 or 22, or 33 for that matter, I urge you contain your pride and excitement. Be humble and focus on the ultimate single digit number. Make sure you understand the basis of your nature and that you are indeed living your life on its positive side. im an 11 and agree a bit , when i first found out i worried, while my dad on the other hand used it as a reason to make himself more special than others and he is living on the negative side of their master number. They are sitting around just waiting for that greatness to appear....and in a way...they do make master numbers seem "above" the rest .... what about u =]  more

Resolved Question: term limits do you agree or disagree and why or whynot?

While a last year we had debates in my upperlevel poli classes and the one argument that kept coming up was term limits. do you think we should have them or not mainly in congress and statewide elections. Term limits to me are a good thing for congress and reps of states because without term limits you allow too many people to be out of touch with todays society. also inside of congress there is a system of the older you are in there the more jobs you can do and the more committees you can run ect... whereas if you are a newbie ( freshmen) you cannot get much done at all. so when we have people like mccain ( just an example ) running against a newcomer for republican as well, if the newcomer one and goes on to beat the dem the newbie will have very little say in what goes on in bills and what happens all together whereas mccain would have alot of say due to his longevity in congress @ lawyer x - agreed.  more

Resolved Question: Giga-tronics Incorporated?

Dear Applicant, Your application for the Virtual Administrative Assistant position has been received Sorry for the late response. My name is Shawn Harrison from Cara Operation Inc. that creates a medium that links suppliers and buyers. I source for buyers and suppliers within and outside United States at the same time so I can link them to make profits. On every transaction made through my administration's linking, I have a 20% profit. I am constantly on the move organizing Seminars to bring buyers and suppliers together and that is why a virtual administrative assistant is needed to complete billings, invoicing and transactions to make this medium effective. I travel a lot and when a buyer wants to make a purchase, he\she has to hold-on till I return, to place an order. This create a long term effect on customers and they start sourcing for suppliers on their own The best form of payment used are Business checks and direct bank transfers as they are guaranteed funds and are confirmed and readily available on the spot. They are not the only means used but they are the best for this process. Most of the buyers I work with are those I have previously handled successful transactions with, new buyers are verified and confirmed before the linking process occurs. The mode of operation goes thus; You will be receiving transaction payments from verified buyers which will be mailed via secured courier service, You will have this payment processed and have the processed payment transferred to the suppliers/vendors or directly to the company. Your pay is 10% of the amount received from the buyer and all charges during processing will be deducted from the 90% balance This makes your pay a fixed 10% of the total amount processed. You can handle as much as 3 or more transactions per week and on 3 transactions you're sure of earning nothing less than $600.00 weekly. The working hours are flexible as all you will be doing is processing of transaction payments and completing the transaction to the suppliers. You will be required to check your e-mail regularly for transaction updates. Voting Question: Why does my EX GF want to know what I've been doing? To the point of a few follow-up texts and two phone calls?

Main question: Is she trying to probe about where I'm at in life to see what the possibility might be of reconciliation while maintaining her pride? I want her back in my life but do not want to jump the gun. Me and my EX GF of 18 months have been broken up for a month and even though we got back together for about a week in between, it was obvious to me that things weren't going to work until we took some serious time apart. Because I felt that I was disrespected I went NO CONTACT on her for an undetermined amount of time. Turns out she tried texting me early in the morning (8 a.m.) on Sunday, which was Day 5 of NC, and then tried calling me after she apparently was out of work at 5. I debated whether or not to continue with NC but we all have to make our own individual choices based on the situations and people we are dealing with. Instead of calling her back and having any kind of a limited, three-minute discussion which is recc'd, I simply texted her over a day later with a blah, "Hi, saw you called. Hope you're well." Nothing emotional or nothing to give off anything. She replied immediately and tried multiple times to find out what I've been up to and commented that I hadn't contacted her. I just gave generic, general answers and let her know I was happy and I haven't felt this good in years (not a slam on her, but my stress level is wayyyyy down) and feel like I do before the world got in my way (one of my parents has a terminal illness and that's stressed me out big time). After the last text I sent her which had to leave her wanting more info., I did not hear anything back for a while. I stonewalled her with general answers but nothing that was brash or could be interpreted as me being difficult. Then about two hours later, SHE calls me, I happen to be on a treadmill at the gym in the middle of a work out, gasping for breath (lol I'm in better shape than that sounds like), I pick up the phone, tell her I'm in the middle of something and that I'll call her later. She agreed and that was that. Perfect timing as far as I was concerned...shows I'm not sitting around. About an hour later I call her and her phone is off..meaning I won't be trying to track her down further. Didn't leave a VM or anything. Something tells me she's both bothered to have lost some control of the situation (she did the dumping) and doesn't want me to know this, however, at the same time she seemed intrigued..at least interested enough to get the guts to call me again and want to talk. For the record, I'm very at peace with things and feel like I am a stronger person because of the turmoil that ended our relationship and how poorly I feel that she treated me in that small timeframe. People make mistakes, but nothing she did in my opinion is so bad that things can't be fixed at some point down the road if it's in the cards. So.. the big finale... From your perspective (if you were HER in this situation), knowing what you know now why would you most likely want to know detailed information about your EX boyfriend..to the point of calling him or contacting him and putting yourself out there to some degree. I'm not planning on contacting her proactively, even though I did reply on my own terms to her original phone call/text, etc. There may be no way to truly tell, but I'd appreciate any feedback. I'm in control of my situation and I'm fine walking away, but my heart still does beat for this woman..but I value mine more. And I won't allow myself to get hurt here. Thank you.  more

Voting Question: TX father wanting to term rights for a 6 year old child he just learned about in OH state?

Had a brief relationship with a girl about 7 years ago when in my early 20's. Shortly after relationship started she informed me right before we met she had been raped and as a result she was pregnant. We had a turbulent relationship and it was a lot to absorb but I had sympathy and didn't understand anything about what she allegedly experienced. Things crumbled throughout pregnancy and shortly after the birth it was over for good; she moved in with a new guy and I never heard from her again. Fast forward 5 years I get a petition for paternity from the state of Ohio (her home state) in the name of her step mom and a letter from a lawyer. My ex-g/f had had a stroke, she will live in a nursing home for the rest of her life. She has very limited capabilities, her parents took custody and according to the letter they were seeking to adopt. Hence the need for the DNA so no guy could pop up in six months claiming illegal adoption because no one notified him ect. I was told over the phone the DNA came back as me the father. I was floored, she said she was pregnant a month before we ever met?? However the final court papers said that I was NOT the father. All went silent Thought that was the end. I chalked it up to a clerk looking at the wrong file or something. Move ahead another year and I get a petition for child support from TX on behalf of OH instead of a petition for termination to move ahead with adoption. I called the lawyers office who had handled the DNA and guardianship. The family ended their representation after the DNA case. I went to the court date and the local court said OH court had made mistake in final decree and they were going to stick to the original lab results as grounds for support. Again her step mom was pulling these reigns, she went through her local child support court on her own. The DNA was complete June 2009, step mom filed for support Sep 2009; the case got down here to me June 2010. I don't know this kid or this family, I don't even know what she looks like! I don't understand why her parents are doing this?? I do know from the papers the child is on state medicaid benefits, they make twice as much as me and their house & cars are paid for. I have a feeling this is what this is all about. If they adopted they would never qualify for those handouts. How do I go about terming my rights across state lines? ****This my finance's situation and my account***  more

Voting Question: "Esthetician School Vs.Cosmetology School?" See Below>>>>>"?

"Esthetician School Vs.Cosmetology School?" See Below>>>>>"? I am planning on going to school to become a teacher.. I am still single and self supporting. I would like to obtain a short term skill ..one that I would enjoy.. in order to take this on first..prior to College. One that will be flexible..and that I can eventually get the clients to come to where I live for services in the evenings...or rent out a small room in a salon to do so. My choices about are of the two areas of interest for me. I have read countless blogs about them both.. with mixed reviews. However..many Estheticians.. are getting out of school .. depending on which state.. they live in.. and not finding work. Some .. act like they never will lol. The Esthtetician Program is 5 months. The Cosmetology.. I think is about 10. The Cosmetology includes.. nails.. and pedicures.. as well as touches somewhat..on facials.. I can though take some independent body wrap course and facial courses for skin care lines at these Beauty Supply Stores whom offer them for a few hours here and there. To get more skilled. Also.. I could do...this Extreme Eye Lash class that would enable me to also be equipped to do..Semi Permanent Eyelashes which are indeed costly.. as well as create spa baskets which would be for both areas. However.. In WI .. you have to work a year or two even before your allowed to have customers come to you one on one for services.. with the exemption of those permanent eye lashes. I could be a lash stylist on the side once taken the classes and practiced.. I am also interested in taking some on line or off independent classes for alternative reiki..tong ren etc.. color therapy.. and even color me beautiful.. which has to do with seasonal colors suited to the individual. All in which can some how be incorporated.. The Color me beautiful would go more with the full cosmetology. The alternative therapies more with the Estheology. I could possibly even work on the weekends at a Cosmetic Counter in a department store.. and may also take a theatrical make up course to do that and contract myself out to theaters .. Opera Houses.. in town and out.. and Ballets. Also.. would go more within the full Cosmetology Course. A woman wrote me back and said she owned a shop and has been doing this 20 years.. and complained to me she should have did nursing instead.. that she has carpal tunnel in her right hand and wrist and varicose veins. I find it hard to believe anyone would stay with something that long if it was so.. horrible or if the money wasn't there.. however.. My goal is to Only .. stay with it.. until I finish College and become a teacher. The Esthetician .. I wanted to add.. is shorter in duration..of months to attend.. and more focused..however takes some time to build up clients .. unless I advertise word of mouth on foot and market myself. In my state there are not strict laws for Estheticians. I can work for myself as soon as I can get people..whether I am renting a room in a salon or.. work from where I live. But ..with Esthetician.. the services are limited to facials and body wraps. Which depending on how you look at it can be good or bad. I can also do make up for bridal parties on weekend.. and spa parties... for bachelorette parties.. on weekends for income. But.. I again.. I need the flexibility to work weekends .. and to work nights.. Esthetican jobs require days and some early weekend and Saturdays.. but.. I don't think I can take those clients with me when I go.. is the only draw back.. and then will have to start all over on foot finding people again. Which do you all think would work best for me.. and why? Thank You * 1 second ago * - 4 days left to answer. Category Beauty & Style > Skin & Body > Other - Skin & Body  more

Resolved Question: DLA question..time limit on decisions?

My son has a curved spine he was born with it and has had 10s of spinal surgeries. Every 3 yrs we put in for dla, every time we get refused, everytime we have to go to a tribunal and get it warded back. we even had to [take him in his wheelchair, just to prove his condition, it's the same everytime, they know he has a long term condition which he was born with yet still we have to go to tribunals. even now we have been waiting nearly four months for a decision on his next claim,so we expect another tribunal meeting. do you think four months is acceptable? and why do legitimate claimants have to work so hard to proove their case? i was told 85% are refused as government have to meet targets, yet that does not mean you are any less disabled.  more

Resolved Question: Grappling to inherit my civic duties?

I am a 17 year old male US citizen, and my 18th birthday is soon approaching. Upon turning 18, I become a legal adult, and automatically inherit a small list of limited but important rights and privileges in the eye of the government. These things include, but are not limited to: 1) paying taxes 2) jury duty 3) enlisting to serve in the army/ registering for the draft 4) being held legally accountable for my actions/ be tried in a court of law/ be sued and of course, most cherished of all, 5) my right to vote There is a lot of pressure from society to participate in every way in all these above functions I listed. Failure to participate in all these civic exercises is largely considered ‘unpatriotic’ or ‘immoral’. Though what concerns me is that I have been questioning our government, not just the cabinet, or the legislature, or even the judiciary branch - but the very structure of our government and the true practicality of it. I sincerely doubt and question the potential for our government to truly fulfill the needs it has proclaimed to address as its collective responsibility. I question the wars we are fighting and the loosely defined terms we declare as our enemies. I question the sensibility behind a 2 party political system and a partisan and polarized perspective on our domestic affairs and foreign policy. I question the relevance of most discussions and concerns we consider to be of national significance. I question the attitude we have toward the ‘economy’ and the role money, occupation and status has in our lives and social structure. I question the role of the media in our lives. I question who we are told are in a position of power in our government, and who actually holds that power. I question the notion that my questioning of these questions are unpatriotic, offensive and immoral. I want answers. I want to discuss. I want to understand, and I want to do the right thing. Don't tell me to run for office because the government and its laws observe age restrictions. Help me realize where I went wrong in my thinking. Help me realize what I can do to do better. Help discuss, think critically, and debate the significance of the things I have brought into question. But above all, help - don’t indoctrinate me, HELP me understand what you think and why you think it, so I might see for myself what it is that I should be questioning.  more

Hey! I don't think this question about my complaints in life is as serious as other people's. But, for quite a long time, I always feel as if theres really nothing to do in life. Every day is the same for me, only sometimes when I go outside with a lot of friends, it's fun for that time, but once I step back home, it's really boring. I'm a teenage boy (14), living with just me and my mum. I love my mum very much, and appreciate that she takes care of me a lot. I attend high school, and have many supportive friends. I don't really have a hobby, I don't think I've found one yet. I find life extremely repetitive. To be honest, I don't even know why I'm asking this question, I don't even know what I'm asking for. :S A major problem that has been happening ever since I was in high school is when my mum still thinks I'm her 'little boy'. She wants me to sleep at the same time as her, and stuff. She doesn't let me go out too late, when all I really want is hang around with my friends and avoid home because it's really boring. I sometimes feel sorry for her, and stay at home because she tells me to. But really inside, I feel lonely, bored, depressed, and stress. Whenever I'm bored, I think about my future, my life when growing up to be an adult. This makes me stress a lot, especially about school work. I'm not failing in school or anything, I'm definitely not failing in school, but seeming to drop a little ever since primary school. I'm looking forward to try more harder this term. I get a lot of pressure put on to me because I'm the only child, so she depends on me a lot. I obey her and try hard in school, and translate a lot of things for her from English to Vietnamese because her english is very limited. I'm a good boy to her. I just don't see anything interesting in life, there's really nothing fun, the fun only lasts for quite a while. What is there to do to make my life more interesting or make me more motivated in life? Serious answers please. thanks :D  more

Resolved Question: Should government workers be allowed to vote?

"If we ever manage to get enough honest politicians elected, they should also pass a Constitutional amendment placing strict term limits on both House and Senate members so we could get back to having government by the people. Limiting the three branches of government to two terms would have the effect of putting the electorate back in control of things. Having said all this, I may as well throw in one last amendment that I believe would maximize the integrity of our Constitutional system of government: Make all government employees - at the local, state, and federal levels - ineligible to vote. If we can do it with incarcerated felons, who are locked up and unable to continue committing crimes, why not do it with bureaucrats, who are on the loose and able to vote to assure that their neighbors will continue paying for their cushy lives?" - robertringer.com Something to consider?  more

Resolved Question: Why hasn't AZ defined what would be "reasonable suspicion" of an individual being an illegal alien?

The final version requires police to try to determine the immigration status of any person who has been stopped, detained, or arrested and "reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien." Could reasonable suspicion be based on skin color or a Mexican accent? Here’s what it says: Senate Bill 1070: A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may not consider race, color or national origin in implementing the requirements of this subsection except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution. The unamended version said race et al., couldn’t be the "sole" factors. But the statute doesn’t detail what "reasonable suspicion" might include. And the phrase "except to the extent permitted" by the federal or state constitutions leaves even more ambiguity, because courts have upheld the use of race or ethnicity in some circumstances. In an annotated version of the law reprinted by The Arizona Republic, University of Arizona law professor Gabriel Chin writes that there are "many open questions" regarding whether race could be used in enforcing S.B. 1070. But he also said, "I am deeply surprised that anyone construes this law to prohibit racial profiling." Ediberto Roman, a professor of law at Florida International University, goes even farther. "It’s pretext to try to suggest that there is no discriminatory purpose," he told us. "Given that there is a lack of any other basis in terms of how they’re going to enforce it, it’s pretty clear that we’re looking to focus on a particular target group." Though the law only allows officials to ask for proof of citizenship in the case of "legal stop, detention or arrest," this doesn’t limit the questioning to suspected criminals — it can include those who are detained as victims of or witnesses to a crime, or people accused of violating local ordinances like noise laws or loitering laws. Roman is concerned that police will be more likely to both stop and to question those who they think look like immigrants. "The legislature was pretty careful in following criminal procedure notions, but it’s the discretion in how the law enforcement will use criminal procedure [that] is how the racial profiling comes into play," he said. @James: Care to point out anything I said that was "pro illegal-aliens?"  more

Resolved Question: Does the fault lie with the Constitution Of India or the President of India?

Kalam was responding to a question by The Indian Express on the sidelines of the annual lecture organised by the National Commission for Minorities (NCM). Asked for his views on the issue of Presidents sitting on mercy pleas indefinitely — when he demitted office at the end of his five-year tenure he left behind almost two dozen mercy petitions for his successor — Kalam said, "The Constitution bestows the power on the President." Under Article 72, which deals with the subject of President's power to grant mercy to a convict on death row, there is no time limit within which the President must clear the case. This is one reason why except for the late Shankar Dayal Sharma, who cleared all pending files during his tenure, no other President has cleared the backlog of cases. While Kalam cleared just two cases — turning down the mercy plea of Dhananjoy Chatterjee of West Bengal, who had been sentenced to death for the rape and murder of 14-year-old Hetal Parekh and granting mercy to one Kheraj Ram — the late K R Narayanan didn't clear any file during his five-year term from July 1997 to July 2002. When he was the President, Kalam had written to the government, suggesting a pardon for a majority of individuals on death row who had filed mercy petitions with Rashtrapati Bhavan. http://in.news.yahoo.com/48/20100706/804/tnl-kalam-calls-for-debate-on-death-pena.html  more

Voting Question: Why isn't my Internet connection working?

I was playing Xbox LIVE the other day. My Xbox is connected to my (Windows Vista) laptop, which has Wi-Fi, enabling the LIVE connection. My brother accidently disconnected the cable; when I reconnected it, I could no longer access the Internet. My laptop said it was connected but had limited connectivity...whatever that means. I 'diagnose and repair'ed it; it told me I have two network connections, which I assume were interfering with each other or something. The two connnections were called "Linksys 5" and "Unidentified network." My router is a Linksys, and my connection normally is called 'Linksys', so I disabled the unidentified network. Didn't work. Now, when I try to connect to Linksys, it continues to say "Limited connectivity" within that window, though the Internet connectivity icon at the bottom right hand corner of the screen says 'no connection' regardless. Now when I go to 'diagnose and repair', it gives me a message that basically says "we have no friggin' idear wtf is goin' on," in more professional terms, of course. I have no idea how to fix this. So...how do I fix this?  more

Resolved Question: Why are Christians taught the wrong meaning of free will?

Free will is exactly what it says and exactly what it means. Free will describes one who can act without ramification, has full control, and is not being influenced by any beliefs or expectations. I am a freethinker and by being this, I have opened my mind to the complete set of possibilities in my life. My actions are well planned with logic in every step and not influenced by any mythology or hopeless and pitiful faith of any kind. Biblical follower’s opinion of free will is a misinterpretation at its worst. The correct term for this perspective should be more like “consequential will”. What I mean is that god doesn't offer you much in this life. It’s either you follow his wishes and go to heaven or you choose your own path in life and be banished to hell. In my eyes, that’s not much of a choice at all. Basically, do as I wish or suffer the consequence of an endless punishment. I have heard people say that hell is not meant for us—that it is the place in which Satan was ostracized. Well by him being an immortal and our life being limited, we are just children in his eyes. So, why would he send his children to a place for an evil, immortal traitor for a limited quantity of petty human sins? Is a child that has been disobedient accused with an equal amount of fault as a murderer?  more

Voting Question: My lack of male interaction is crippling my teenage experience?

I have had such limited experiences with the opposite gender that I'm starting to worry it will damage me long term. I'll admit it: I'm a loud person. I'm opinionated, I love shock humor, I can be argumentative and pretentious at times... there's things in here that traditionally are set turn offs for the guys I go to high school with. I have a tiny class that I've known since I was five, and I really don't like any of the boys in it. Ok. I also live in a tiny town full of shallow teenagers in general. And I'm 16 and look like I'm in my twenties. For all these reasons, I almost never have reciprocated affections from boys I like (not like there's boys that don't want me... I just don't want them back, y'know?), or am approached on the street or at the movies. Hell, I've never even had my first "real kiss". This has utterly destroyed some aspects of my self confidence. I'm still funny and uninhibited and very socially outgoing. But when it comes to boys I can't decide whether I really AM beautiful and it's just the situation that's been treating me bad, or if I'm really an ugly, disgusting, obnoxious girl who thinks way too highly of herself. This has become so bad it's driven me to bulimia (which I've recovered from) and other self destructive habits, that I've been getting a LOT better at. But above all of this, I've noticed that I have no way to talk to boys. Older men, or college boys and stuff, hit on me when I'm out and about. I freeze up and have no idea what to do. I try to be charming but I've had no practice. I never wanted to "experiment" with the guys that liked me because I'd just hate myself later, and I couldn't let them down. So I have a question, mainly for the ladies: Have any of you been in this situation? It's gotten so bad, when I meet new people they think I'm really far along and great with guys. I can't tone down my friendliness to seem inexperienced because... I don't know I just can't. But I end up intimidating guys, or being intimidated, and it's really mortifying how little real romantic interaction I've had. So can you recover from it? Will I grow out of it? Will I regain that shattered bit of confidence I had about my appearance when I was a kid? Or will this haunt my social situations for a really long time? (Talked to my mom about this, she just can't understand why I think this way about myself and threatens to send me to a shrink because I can't take her advice on just being easier on myself.)  more

Resolved Question: Atheists: How far do you let your mind wander into "theistic" possibilities?

Had a little trouble coming up with the wording of the question, to best summarize what I'm looking for...so I apologize in advance if it isn't all that clear... I was reading an interesting article today that stated that the "new atheists" have faith that science will eventually sort out why there is something instead of nothing. It got me thinking...really? Do we? I certainly don't (maybe I'm not a "new atheist", whatever the crap that is). I don't know that humanity will ever "figure it all out", so to speak. But I'm often finding my mind wandering into what I would call "theistic" possibilities, for lack of a better term. I've concluded that concepts such as the Abrahamic God are childish and pedestrian, products of men who wish to exert control over other men. That much I've figured out... But that still leaves a billion open questions, and doesn't rule out that *something* that you might call "god" might exist. Heck, it might be us. I don't know. My question is, then, how much does your skepticism limit your wandering mind? Do you still consider possibilities that may be theistic in nature (I don't mean to say that you believe these things...just that you contemplate their possibilities and implications).. vérité, I'm an atheist...the word "theology" has little more meaning to me, outside of the study of religion and its influences on humanity. In this respect, philosophy is the closest thing to theism that I have.  more

Resolved Question: Whatever thought a human has only has to do with one's self. How does that affect the human's logic?

Please, I really need some intellectual feedback on this one. And this is not a question concerning the selfishness of humans. If there is a specific term for what I am talking about, or research already done on this, please let me know so I can research it. This is a common sense proposal, but it occurred to me that 1) No thought may be formed in the human mind that has no relation to the human. -The thinker thinks thus the thinking involves the thinker. This is because wonder is initiated by expirence(s), not spontaneously without cause. Primate humans had no way of forming thoughts about HD TVs. George Washington had no way of forming a thought specifically about Microsoft. This alone greatly contributes to the low perspective of humans on so many different levels. As I continued to ponder this thought, I came up with this proposal. 2) The more a human is related(has to do with) to "A", the more thoughts that are formed on "A". ( I know its kinda common sense but very few have understood what I'm saying, and I can't find any philosophers thoughts on this.) The second proposal may have faults, but I couldn't find a single instance that disagrees with the first. If you agree with the first proposal, what overall impact does it have on the human logic? I gathered that human progression/advancement is linear because because of this. For example, George Washington couldn't have thought of microsoft, but he could think about a machine that keeps track of information. Eventually computers come, then Microsoft. So the human logic is limited and linked to discoveries. Which can explain why so many inventions come by an accidental occurrence. And what if Einstein had not been on that specific bus looking in a specific direction. Advancement is initiated by one or many together, because of the logic that occurs at a specific time and place. But jumps from horses to spaceships cannot happen because of condition one. Human logic is superior the other species, but faulty because of this one aspect. The logic that comes form this is endless, but I'm interested in some intellectual viewpoints. If you have exceptions to the first proposition, then please share the exception so I may see the fault to my logic. The keyword is proposition. And if you don't understand the question and propositions then leave this question to someone who does. I'm merely trying to learn.  more
