Voting Question: can i wear my kilt to school on national tartan day?
last year i wore my kilt to school and was asked to take it off. I complied. Then i learned of National Tartan Day, a holiday made official in 2005 by congress, recognizing April 6th as a day of Scottish-American pride. I love my kilt...im brave, and im slightly crazy...i wear kilts everywhere(ranging from my fancy dress kilt, to my leather and casual kilts). I want to wear my kilt to school unhindered, and without a problem. Would i get in trouble for wearing this kilt? and if i were to be punished would i be able to press charges? I am of the clans Myric, McDonald, and Gennings, living in Florida. The ridicule doesn't bother me, so don't bother bringing it up, i am a damn proud Scotch/Norse American. Use of the term "Scotch" in the name has a pejorative origin. To cut costs 3M applied the adhesive only to the edges of the tape. A remark was made by a St. Paul automobile detailer that the stingy Scotch bosses needed to put more adhesive on it. I wasn't sure where to post this, but since it's a family squabble issue, I thought I'd put it here. I have a son (16) and daughter (17). Both are staying with my sister in England for the summer vacation. She runs a store in England (Scotch Shop) which sells Scottish related things (clothing, food, ornaments etc). They are helping out part-time to fund their keep and earn some extra spending money which they are then using to travel around more. Anyway, here is the argument. My sister (and her district manager) have a policy that the staff wear kilts... note that these are not real kilts which can be very expensive, but more different tartan stlyle skirts (of varied lengths). My son is objecting and says he doesn't want to wear a "skirt". My daughter thinks he should, otherwise she shouldn't have to either (she is actually a tomboy and hardly ever wears a skirt).
