Open Question: Do unintelligent dogs exist or are the owners always at fault?
People have said, "There are no such things as stupid dogs, just stupid owners." I was talking to my mom's boyfriend today about the family dog, a Chinese crested. This breed is notoriously hard to potty train, from what I have read but I don't know if that's true. Well, my mom's mate called Chanel [the dog] a "pea brain" because she is still pissing and crapping all over the house, even though she is let outside all of the time, often for at least 20 minutes. She is given many opportunities to relieve herself. However, just the other day, after being outside for at least half an hour [but probably a lot longer], Chanel comes into the house and squats on the rug not even 20 minutes later and soils it. My mom even turned the same rug over today just to see if there were any other stains and sure enough, there were. I asked my mother if she has honestly tried to housebreak the dog and she told me yes. I asked her man the same question today and he said that they honestly probably haven't put in as much effort as they should have but they've still tried. I also happened upon a large, yellow puddle of urine in the dogs' [we also have a shih-tzu] crate this afternoon. I told my mom's boyfriend that the dog could possibly have a medical condition that causes her to eliminate indoors but he disagreed. I don't think she's unhealthy either, to be honest. She is playful and energetic. Neither canine is abused and I only punish either of them when I catch them in the act of doing something bad. They are not hit but given a firm "No!" when caught. Personally, it wasn't even my decision to get these animals - I couldn't have cared less. I have also just moved back in with my mom after being gone for over a year, so I cannot say for certain what they have done to help the dog. I guess it's possible that the other one is pooping and peeing in the house but I think he's potty trained, for the most part [at least that's what I've been told - I've only lived here for about a month, give or take a week but I have not seen him do anything bad but chewing]. As a side note, please don't be biased. I know this section is for dog lovers but that doesn't mean that you need have a closed mind. Okay a couple of years ago my cousin and I were walking home from church and we were just walking up to the crest of this hill that overlooks the entire cove where I live(small island) and we had a clear view of this womans huge backyard. Well I was in the middle of a story or something and then I looked down over the hill into this womans back yard and froze. There was a HUGE black cat standing up on its back legs and like leaning its front paws against a tree. It had a really long tail as well and a slender body.Well,my cousin saw it at the same time I did and we both were quiet and scared sh*tless. Well,the thing dropped down on all fours and ran up into the woods in behind this womans yard. We ran the entire way home and told my mom and she was confused because she knows I don't lie to her and I'm honest but she couldn't believe it. But she saw how scared we were and kind of accepted it. I was looking up on it recently and apparently like in England and unusual places like that,sightings like this happen all the time. I had no idea that I wasn't the only person to see a black panther(Yes,I call it a panther,it looked like a panther) in such a crazy place. Like,there is no possible way it could have gotten where I lived but I wasn't seeing things and neither was my cousin. There are no bears here,and if their were they would be small with no tails. To make matters even stranger,a hunter that lives here heard mom telling the story to someone and said he had seen the exact same thing when he was hunting,except he had only caught a glimpse of its long black tail and saw pawprints. Even my grandmother said she was up picking blackberries once and a huge black cat jumped across the trail she was picking at and she ran home and never went back. Has anyone else ever had a similar sighting? Seen any black cats? So I am a 22 year old male and will hopefully be going into student teaching in a couple of years. I will be teaching Math at a Secondary Education level and was wondering how my two wrist tattoos (maybe 2x5 inch on either wrist) will affect me getting hired. Chapter 1: A Hogwarts Letter On a particularly sunny afternoon in mid-August, the Diggory home in Ottery St. Catchpole was very quiet. Mrs. Diggory was just about to start on supper before an average Tawny came through the kitchen window with a letter addressed to Miss Natalie Anne Diggory. Mrs. Diggory opened the Hogwarts-crest-sealed letter and read the familiar emerald print. It informed the family that the new term began at it's usual time on the first of September. It also included a supply and book list requirement for the following term. “Nat?” Mrs. Diggory called from the kitchen. Natalie made her way out of her bedroom and down the stairs to her mother. “Your Hogwarts letter came,” she handed it to her daughter. My daughter is growing up and now deviating from the normalcy of family relationship. I find her constantly waking up in bath tubs. No doubt this has put a huge strain on her neck and doctors suspect she will be paralyzed in 2 years at this rate. Every time she comes down the stairs my wife drops a plate of pancakes and breaks the plate the minute she sees her. It's annoying. My son has become intoxicated due to my daughter constantly switching Crest toothpaste with Jack. She rides around with some guy who looks like Joe Dirt, only that he looks more like a tool or a molester. She also gets pulled over by the cops, the cops put handcuffs on her, but instead of taking her jail to benefit the rest of society, they just leave the handcuffs on one hand. How absurd. Hi everyone, I am getting a welsh mare who was dangerously obese and very out of shape back to riding condition for her owners, and I am worried that I worked her too hard. Today I went on a trail ride with a bunch of friends, and got slightly lost. We took a wrong turn and missed the loop back. My horse is pretty out of shape so I only wanted to take her on a 1 hour ride, but it ended up being over two. We did some trotting and cantering the first half of the ride, because we weren't expecting it to be so long. By the end of the ride, my horse was sweaty under her saddle and girth, on her chest and the bottom of her neck. Her heart and breathing rate were fine, but this ride was much longer than I had expected. There was also a dry patch under her saddle...I know this is a sign of poor fit. I am guessing that some of her muscles have atrophied so the saddle I am using no longer fits properly. To get you an idea of what condition she was in, I started working with her 5 weeks ago, and took a two week break a week ago to go on vacation with my family. When I started, she was HUGE with a giant crest on her neck, and had had no work for 8 months. Before I left for vacation, she was doing 45 minute sessions in the arena at 50% walk 40% trot and 10% percent canter with no problem, and hour long trail rides at mostly a walk. When I was away, she was ridden a few times, and I have ridden her 3 times since returning less than a week ago. I know this was irresponsible of me to have not gotten great information before going out on the trail, and I feel really horrible about it. I just want to make sure I am doing everything to help her recover. I cooled her off really well and rubbed her down. I also ran a hose over her legs in case any of her tendons were tight. We are a couple who love animals and want to add another dog to the family. - It would get roughly 3 hours of exercise in the evening and possibly a quick walk in the morning (half hour) although some mornings it just isn't doable. - We already have 2 small dogs ; a JRT x Beagle x Dachshund x Schnauzer, and a Chinese Crested - We would like a dog no smaller than a Spaniel this time round - We have enough space for almost any dog - We are moving to Australia in about 5 years (fingers crossed) so it would need to be able to handle the heat of Oz - Not a big barker! - Fairly easy to train - Shedding isn't a problem - Not going to cost us a lot of money to groom (£10 a month or so is fine) - Known for being good with kids. Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a new video camera, but I have absolutely no clue what's good. I do believe you get what you pay for, so I am willing to put in up to $500 or so, but I'd prefer to pay less. I basically want to use the cam to record family/friend events, and my animals. I'd like for it to be good enough quality so that I can record my crested gecko, and for you to see it's detail and whatnot, and not be blurry 'cause it's little. Some cams have lights, and something so that it shakes less... But other than that, I don't know what to look for. Also, I have a Mac. My last name is Rodriguez, my family was born in mexico most of them except my two sisters but my ancestors come from spain and italy but my family is more spanish than italian. Her parents, Mayor of the City of Deer Park, doesn’t allow her to date no guys unless theirs willing to talk to him first. She wants to be official with Macro but is scarred her dad might destroy that. Karlee Miller Best friends with Anastacia, she likes Luke but is scarred to tell Anastacia because she knows she likes him too. And she ends up ending their friendship, and joins Honor “It” crowd just to flirt with Luke and tries to sleep with him but fails due to the fact, he tells her his in love with someone else that she knows that special girl. She gets mad and will do anything to end that relationship even if it kills her.... Honor Matthews Hates Anastacia because she better looking then her. She gets Karlee to join her because she tells her that Anastacia is a freak and she heard that Luke likes her and it was a lie. She ends up liking Marco but hears that Marco is Anastacia’s twin, which might makes her switch sides or hate Anastacia more. Bailey is a 6 month old Chinese Crested. Up until 4 mpnths she was the perfect pup - good with kids, dogs, cats, adults - you name it, she loved it! Then things began to go wrong at home and so I and Bailey went to stay at a friends, consisting of his mum, him (18), and his two brothers (10 and 8). I'll add to this saying the 8 year old is a total mummy's angel and never gets told off. His name is Mika. Anyway, his mum used to tell me she was fine looking after Bailey and the kids if I went into my friend's room, so I happily left the kids to it with her as I was pretty sure his mum would stop them if they did anything wrong. In the last few days of that week, my friend was ill so I spent most of my time outside with the kids. Here I saw them yanking at my poor dog's ears, tail, feet, hair (they were fascinated by her crest), picking her up and dragging her back when she tried to run away, feeding her matches so they could fish them out of her mouth, putting her lead on to drag her round the garden, etc. I had NO idea this was happening or we never would of gone there. Since then Bailey has hated being picked up when she used to just want cuddles all the time, won't walk on a lead, and HATES kids. She has just snapped at a toddler in the street when before, she was fine and would just walk past them/ In my family I have a 6 month old and 9 month old niece and nephew, a 3 year old cousin, a 10 year old cousin, and of course their friends. I am also planning a family in the next ten years. So a child aggressive dog is not an option. I cannot afford hundreds on training and definetely cannot afford anything if she bites someone's child. Lots of dogs aren't good with children but are easily avoided on walks, plenty of dogs in RESCUES are to be rehomed with no children, which for some people in rural areas, is not a problem. You're all acting like I'm a terrible owner ; I trusted the boys' mother to watch them and they are USUALLY pretty calm kids. I and my boyfriend hadn't even thought about kids until a few months ago when he proposed. She has always been excellent with children until this incident. I was wrong to trust this woman but honestly, these dogs are not as fragile as people make out. My sister's 6 month old daughter has pulled at her ears, tail etc a few times (with us quickly removing her hands), and Bailey has just looked at her with her tail wagging. She's also run into things and fallen off things countless times (as puppies do) and she's fine! She still IS fine with my niece, it's more toddlers and children under 12 she isn't keen on. It's done now, but you're having a go instead of giving me advice! I CAN afford and take care of her! We are having money problems at the moment so cannot afford hundreds on training, but both our dogs are fed good food, all their jabs, worming and fleas are up to date, and they have lots of toys and a big bed each.
