Do personal experiences count for anything?
I ask this because I have a unique experience. I am a man who *chose* to be heterosexual. Based on my experiences, and the experiences of others I know, I can definitely assert that homosexuality and heterosexuality are indeed choices we make. See, my wife and I are both members of an ex-gay group; that's how we met, in fact. I can't tell you what a blessing from the Lord it is to have this woman in my life. I can only imagine what my life would have turned out to be had I not chosen to embrace my God-mandated heterosexuality. I was always a man you would never have looked at and imagined to be anything but straight. During my teen years, however, Satan sent every temptation he could to try and ensnare me in the gay lifestyle. First, there was that sofa my mother bought; she had chosen a respectable rust coloured overstuffed one, but what was mistakenly delivered was one in rich corinthian leather. Almost immediately then the furniture store went out of business, so we were stuck with the sofa. The rich, musky smell of that leather put all sorts of polluted thoughts into my young mind. It was about the same time that those Brawny Paper Towel commercials of the 80s started. With his "butch" clone look, I innocently thought Mr. Brawny all man, and emulated him. Frankie Goes To Hollywood was also riding high then, and all of this meant that I was on a one-way road to hell town! I was battling in my very soul, and I felt weak. It was 1984, I was a young man filled with hormones, and there was nothing on television but the lousy election coverage. I was fighting temptation to go to a gay bar and have my fill of lust. I tried to pray, and I asked God for a sign. Well, Satan must have intercepted my prayer, because, turning on the TV to try to find a Christian program, the screen instantly flashed on to Clara Peller, that little old lady from the Wendy's commercials, saying "Where's the beef?" I gave in to sin and went to the gay bar. There followed years of immorality where I did terrible things, like wear a plaid kilt and leather vest, watch "Solid Gold" to get a glimpse of Andy Gibb's hairy chest, and record old Match Game reruns featuring Charles Nelson Riley. That last one is a shame that will haunt me my entire life. Things got so low for me that I even got a nipple piercing. I still have the piercing, but today I only wear a crucifix in it. I thank Jesus, though, for delivering me from all of that. I met Becky at the ex-gay meeting, and we determined to embrace our heterosexuality. My marriage to Becky is the most important thing in my life, and I am really saddened to see the march of same-sex marriage threaten the sanctity of it. My marriage is a precious gift from God, and I knew it from the moment I saw Becky at the meeting, all the way through to the next morning, when we wed. Is it always easy? No, but Becky and I are vigilant. We have taken steps to heterosexualize our home. For instance, I am no longer allowed to wear Brut cologne, because of its slogan, "the smell of a man." Becky helps me to keep a watch over things that might cause me to fall; for instance, she got our ex-gay group to intervene and talk me out of going in for that prostate exam that the doctor had scheduled for me. I can't thank her enough for looking out for me. Becky, too, has to always be on the alert for anything that might lead her astray. She has taken to wearing makeup, except for lavender eyeshadow, of course, and she is no longer allowed to go to the Home Depot, wear birkenstocks, or eat sushi. Mammograms are out of the question for her, unless performed by a male doctor. We both made the decision to ban tofu from our home. Our support group is excellent, and it provides the majority of our social life. Becky and the ladies get together to praise God and comb each other's hair, and I get together with the men from the group, and we play tackle football. Once a month, Becky and I follow the Lord's will, and I go into her bedroom so the two of us can make heterosexual love. Our faith in God gets us through this, plus the doctor's prescription for Compazine really helps. Right now, Becky is pregnant with our little bundle of joy, and I know our home will be happy and complete when this child is born. I can't imagine a child growing up in a more perfect home. So there you have it. My wife and I have both chosen to be heterosexual, so it stands to reason that homosexuality is likewise a choice. Why do people insist on saying that it isn't a choice, however? Do personal experiences count for nothing? I thank Jesus every day for the happiness of the normal life that I now know. (((((((Wayf))))))) I wish more people would read the details, lol. :) (((((((Bones))))))) :) That is a Thelemic quote, isn't it? moreResolved Question: Can you give me feedback on my novel?! (one page yet)?
I still remember the bold black iron bars of the gate, standing tall and towering above all beings. A cool midnight breeze brought me to my senses, and I suddenly took notice of the lad coming towards the gate. He was rather young, a junior of no more than 18, and he carried a chain of keys. The sound of a distant storm shook the earth and broke the silence. This only caused the porter to search more nervously through the keys to find the right one. The air was thick and moist, and his lantern was merely a halo in the dull grey sky, frosted with humid breath. Not a single sound was to be heard but the clinging of the rusty old keys. “Oh for god’s sake, son, get a move on...” said the loud voice of a woman coming towards us from behind. A short figure wrapped in covers, looking rather like a ball of wool, she was a woman of 40 who introduced herself as Mrs. Hamston as she pulled out a key, and pushing the boy away with her large figure, made way for herself and opened the lock, letting me in. “Do accept my pardon, Mr. Turner! Henry was sent to us a week ago. Well, thank lord you are safe and sound. How was your journey?” said she, as she walked me along the garden towards the house. I followed her like a son following his mother, afraid of being lost in the foggy darkness. “Glad to be settled at last, madam.” I said, looking up at the sky with inner frustration. Another roar of the clouds reminded us to keep walking in pace, and soon the icy drops of rain began to fall. The humid atmosphere did not allow me to look around, and so I stared at my feet, and concentrated on the sound of my thick leather boots rustling on the wet pebbles. Finally, a halo of dim light caught my attention and here I lifted my head and found myself on the porch of the grand mansion; and a grand mansion it was. Its walls were tar black bricks, and the sides extended through the trees, out of sight. The stairs leading to the porch were of dark marble, paneled with wooden boards to avoid the slippery wet floor. Just then, my observations were interrupted by Mrs. Hamston, who now held the great wooden door open for me to enter. “Come along now, Henry. Show Mr. Turner to the guestroom while I prepare the tea”; She then locked the door and walked away in her tiny steps, her skirt rustling away into the distance. As Henry went to attend to my luggage still left in the carriage, I had the instance to forget about the grandeur of the building outside, and be awed at the nevertheless luxurious interior. The floor was parquetted in rhombuses intersecting each other in different shades of rich glossy wood, covered with an antique crimson Persian carpet that ran to the foot of the grand staircase. The staircase was of rich, expensively carved oak, carpeted blood red velvet, and curved from the left side of the hall to the right, ending in a mysterious dimly lit hallway upstairs. The door opened and a cool breeze sent me a slight shiver. Henry had my trunk and set forth, telling me with a silent look that I should follow him. I though we were headed upstairs, but instead, he led me straight ahead of the hall, and then turned towards a rather small door under the staircase. He put the trunk on the floor and started searching through his key loop again. Finally, he found the right one and turned the lock, opening the door to complete darkness. He then proceeded to an elegant table that sat outside the door next to the back door window, opened its drawer, and drew a match from a box, lighting the candle on the table. He returned to “my” room and without entering it, reached for a lantern hung on the inside wall, and lit it with the candle he had in his hand. The room was now visible with the lantern, and I stepped in, looking around. It was a large room as opposed to its tiny door, furnished with antique Victorian furniture. The floor was warmly carpeted, and there was a canopy bed on one side, a chair, a sofa, a study desk and the bathroom at the very end. There was nothing lacking, yet it felt unfamiliar to be standing among the nostalgic figures of the objects. I turned to Henry and thanked him, with the intention of asking about the electricity, but I would rather discuss that with the house keeper, and so I dismissed him. I took another look at the room, and then took off my coat and hat, and started unpacking my stuff on the bed. The closet, just like the room, was ironically spacious on the inside, whereas I thought I needed to find another place to hang the rest of my clothing. I then sat on the bed and looked around. There was much decorations and objects to see, much details to memorize. There was a painting of a lighthouse lost on the shore among the huge rocks, a painting of Scottish highlands and one of a bee farm, all aligned next to one another across the wall. moreResolved Question: Is Krause furniture a good quality furniture?

Ok i'll apologise in advance if some of this doesn't make sense, i'm tiered and impatient. So a little over a month ago we got a bengal kitten. We had him for about 2 weeks and then we had 2 leave for europe for a month holiday. We left him at a cattery during this time with a lady we know very well. We've been back for a little over a week now and we're had some serious issues with him. I should probably tell you he's about 4 months, probably closer to 5. And we got him at about 3 months. Here are all the issues we've had: 1Excessive clawing: He scratches us beyond what acceptable play (alltought i realise he is just playing) 2Jumping on furniture: while we have been lucking that he has not been scratching anything he shouldn't be (he has taking to his scratching post quite well) he climbs on the table and the kitchen benches (those are the places i am most concerned about because that's where we eat. I am not to fussed about him sitting in the sofas) 3Not responding to boundaries we are setting: when he jumps up on the kitchenbench/table/places he's not allowd, we spray him with a spray bottle and growl at him, he does not seem to respond to this discipline because he continues to jump on the kitchen bench. 4inappropriate elimination: Ok yes that's just some funny term i found on the internet, and for those who don't know what it means, it means that he dosn't pee in his litter box. Well he does most of the time, but he's peed on my bedding twice and on the leather sofas twice. 5He steps in his (sorry) poo and walks it through the house (sorry if i put any unfriend images in ur head): Not much more detail i can add to that one appart from it's gross and unhygienic cause he jumps on the kitchen bench. Ok those are the issues that are of biggest concern to me, there r other issues like him being very active at night (i know this is only natural) Oh and i should point out that i understand that most of these behaviours r only natural for bengals and part of growing up for any kitten. But i don't know what to do about them! And i can't live with this kind if behaviour! Either there is some way to fix this, or bengals are just not the right cat for me. I am at my wits end! I really have no idea what to do. The only thing i can think of is handing him into an animal shelter. But i don't wanna cause he is a gorgeous cat. So either someone here can help me change my mind and help me fix these issues or he's going to an animal shelter. Sorry i know that was really long! And i wil be great full for ANY answers Thanxx -worried bengal owner rockmaiden25: in an attempt to stand up for myself, i hope you can understand, I did research, some of my friends are bengal owners or know bengal owners and they all said great things about them. The breeder, a very nice lady who we spoke to many times before we received the cat, said that they were great cats and not too wild (and yes i knew they were a little wild). Also a quick google search doesn't bring up many bad things about bengals. So how should i know any better about them being SUPER wild? The breeder also told us that squirting them is a good way to discipline them. And i wasn't growing at him it was more a firm NO or GET DOWN And i said that i understand that all of this behaviour is normal cat/kitten behaviour. I was more asking for help on how to deal with it, like discipline tips, how to stop toilet accidents etc And plus i am willing to deal with the cat, but i rly donno how, and that's what i'm asking for help with. Oh and i already own a gold fish. Oh and sorry every one, when i said i grown at him i mean i tell him NO or GET DOWN in a firm voice. when i said i growl at him (sorry) moreVoting Question: My dog has chewed my furniture. How do you stop a labrador chewing? 14 months old?
He used to chew all the time as a puppy but we thought he had grown out of it until he eat through the arm of our leather sofa. He is a really good dog in terms of temperament and behaviour but he is a nightmare for chewing. We are at the end of our tether and are thinking of giving him back to the farm where we got him which would be a real shame but he has done so much damage and we cant afford to keep replacing furniture! any ideas? moreResolved Question: i want to purchase modern furniture.so tell me which company provide good furniture.?

Last fall I started this story: Natalie Carlyle by L.D. Part 1- Jake I called her one more time. I had rung the door bell and even knocked. All the lights were on in the house but there wasn't a car parked in the driveway. I took hold of the brass doorknob and turned it. The door opened and I walked into the open townhouse. I smiled when I saw sixteen Natalie Dakota Carlyle, my girlfriend of 8 months sleeping face down on the worn leather sofa. Her hair was flattened down the back of her large gray sweatshirt that concealed her petitie torso. I smiled at the fact that she was wearing the jeans I bought for her for her birthday. They fit her perfectly. The flat screen tv was blaring in the background. I looked for the remote but the coffee table was covered in coffee cups and glasses full of half melted ice. I shook Natalie's shoulder softly. She didn't wake up. I shook her a little harder. Her head turned to face me, her eyes closed. Her beautifuly thick, dark eyelashes flickered open. Her deep navy, ocean blue eyes stared up at me. “Hey Jake,” she smiled at me. “I missed you,” I leaned over and hugged her closely. I had been in Southern California for the past 5 days, visiting colleges, going to the beach and vacationing. I had missed her like crazy. I only had two days with her until our week-long Thanksgiving break was over. “So where are your parents?” I asked softly. “Out, I think,” she murmured in a sleepy tone. “You okay, babe? You look exauhsted.” “I just need to wake up a little,” she yawned. I sat down on the sofa next to her feet. For a second I worried that she wasn't happy to see me. That maybe in those 5 days I had been away she had forgot about me and found someone else. I remembered first seeing her. The gym was filled with lots of students watching the boys varsity basketball game. I wasn't focused on the court though, my eyes went to the sidelines. The cheerleaders doing all sorts of crazy stunts and amazing flips. One particular girl with sparkly blue eyes and shiney brown hair being thrown intot he air(In later what I found out was a twist cradle). In just that second I knew that she was strong, imagintive and efortless. From that moment on I knew I wanted her. Days went on and I realized she was everywhere. At lunch, in my gym class playing basketball and volleyball, around the whole highschool campus in between classes. She seemed to be a very outgoing person. She was friendly and funny. I asked her out and we went on date after date. Out for pizza, to the movies, to college basketball games and out to dinner. Weeks went on and we got more serious. She was only a sophomore and I was a junior. Yet she was perfect. Her age didn't change anything. We got along so well. I knew we would last. And here we are several months later. Dakota squeezed my hand and I snapped out of it. “Do you wanna go out?” I asked. She shook her head. “Let's just hang out.” She grabbed my hand and led me up the cream-carpeted stairs to her bedroom. The first door on the left. I took in all the details of her room I had missed. The walls of her room were completely blank and painted pure white. Her princess-like bed was covered in breadspread of espresso and champagne colors. All the mahgony wood on the matching furniture looked as if it had all been polished. The white mac computor was missing from her desk and the window in front of it was cracked open so the cool almost-december air flooded in. I shut the door quickly and grasped Natalie's neck with my left hand, I held her face with another. I kissed her cherry red lips softly and warmly, which is what I wanted the whole time we were apart. I want to touch her soft skin and kiss her. Part 2 Natalie I woke up the morning we were going back to school. The clock read 7:00. My parents had already left for work. I felt like a complete mess and I only had 20 minutes. The smell of artificial heated air filled my bedroom. A headache started in the back of my head. I got up and stood in front of the full-length mirror. My big navy blue eyes were bright but started to throb. My deep espresso brown hair was dark and straight but still slightly highlighted with golden blonde pieces from the summer. I got undressed quickly and dressed again in a pair of jeans that were laying on my bedroom floor and a large grey Princeton sweatshirt from my closet. I stared into my reflection as I brushed my hair until it was smooth. Jake's car beeped from the driveway and I raced to the front door grabbing my bags on the way. I ran out of the house and into the cold, crisp late fall air. Jake smiled at me. I smiled back, even at the ungodly hour of 7 am. He walked toward me and hugged me close, tightly. I rested my head in his chest. “Can we please go get coffee?” I asked sweetly. “Of course,” he smiled even bigger. “We can do anything you want.” Jake grabbed my bags and put them in the back of his sorry that it isnt coming out right i can't fit the whole thing in one question :( Email me if your serious about reading it. moreVoting Question: What color leather ottoman is a good match for a gray modern sofa?

I had a new leather sofa delivered to my home by a major retailer. The delivery people unwrapped the sofa on the sidewalk outside and then carried it through my front door and up my stairs. I have a two-year-old English Angora bunny. She's very happy and well-taken care of, she can go upstairs or downstairs, inside or outside freely, and she has lots of toys. She's well-fed and has a large cage, so even when she's locked up she still has freedom and toys. Normally she's very well behaved, but the problem is that she digs on the furniture. We have a place in the backyard she can dig to her heart's content, the problem is when she comes inside and jumps on the leather sofa she starts to dig on it. We keep her nails well-groomed and rounded so it hasn't caused a problem yet, but sooner or later she's going to scratch it or put a hole in it. How do we stop her from digging? P.S. She only digs when we're sitting on the sofa next to her, by herself she just sits down. Connection? P.P.S; I don't pay attention to trolls, so things like "cut off her head" or "break her spine" are going to be ignored. moreVoting Question: Did you buy microfiber furniture because it was supposed to be harder to stain, and easier to clean?

My shoes are also leather? HELP! moreVoting Question: How can I stop my 1 year old pug from chewing a leather sofa?
My family adopted a pug from a pug rescue. She's about a year old and is chewing a lot. We have two other 4 year old pugs and 2 cats which she plays with. We regularly walk her. We provide MANY toys and "bully-sticks" and rawhides for her to chew. She shreds toys, has ripped up outdoor furniture and some older furniture. Recently, she's started chewing on the leather sofa when she's not getting constant attention (the family is watching TV, eating dinner, running an errand, not long term lack of attention). We think her chewing was why she was given up by the other family. My parents are totally losing patience with her because her chewing is getting to be a very expensive bad habit. We've tried spraying water at her, providing more toys/exercise, bitter sprays, "avoidance" sprays, and physically moving her from the couch to the dog area and giving her a toy to chew instead. We're running out of ideas and furniture. Help!! Crate training isn't an option since the other dogs aren't crate trained, she would freak that the other dogs are out while she's not. We walk her twice a day, morning and evening. We also have a large yard where she runs with the other dogs. She has a million toys. Rawhides, bones, kongs, chews for big dogs so they'll be tough for her to gnaw on but she still eats through them. We've tried the pinning, she isn't learning. Unfortunately, my dad isn't consistent so our step foward is followed by two steps back. And bitter apple doesn't work. We've tried literally every bitter spray possible. Thanks for all of the advice, keep it coming!!! =] We're big Dog Whisperer fans here, so we've tried a lot of the techniques, the issue with that is consistency since my dad refuses to follow the rules we set for her. A trainer may be a direction to go, we just didn't know if they'd be able to do much since the vet brushed it of as "she's a puppy, she chews" moreResolved Question: Please help with stains on Leather sofa!?!?

If this helps they are dark brown and they are from ashley furniture and I pretty sure the stains are some kind of light yellow ink. Thank you so much for your answers! moreResolved Question: Trying to pick a wall colour... help?
I have a piece of antique furniture that's sort of shabby-chic and painted a dark turquoise. Dark brown leather sofa. Dark brown coffee table. Curtains are grand floor-to-ceiling taking up an entire wall because the window takes up one whole wall, and they are like a wine/marroon on either side and then a muted greyish green (it goes well with the turquoise piece of furniture so that ties it all in). Right now I want to paint one wall - the wall behind my leather couch. I have no idea which direction to go in. Also, since it's a rental, I have to make sure it's a light enough colour that I can paint over it easily without having to do a million coats when I move out. Should I go in the turquoise direction? I don't really want a turquoise wall. Should I go in the wine/maroon direction? I might end up with a darker wall colour than I'd like - just for painting over it's sake. Or should I go for an entirely different colour? I'm afraid of introducing another colour into this scheme, it might end up looking too weird and throwing the whole room off. Help! moreResolved Question: What are some good furniture stores?

I bought a Flexsteel Brandon leather sofa and loveseat (from the Latitudes collection) and will be picking it up tomorrow. I have been researching this furniture since I placed the order on Friday. I know I should research before buying, but it was a one-day only sale and I still have up to 7 days to return it for a 100% refund if I want to. I am concerned about the quality of this line of furniture. Most Flexsteel products are made in America but I found out the Latitudes collection is 100% made in China. I have heard some other people say that it is of a lesser quality and will probably not last a long time. There have been some reports of the leather flaking, fading or becoming discolored. Most of the parts are covered with a lifetime warranty, but the warranty on the leather is only 1 year. Does anyone have any experience with this furniture line? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Is there any way to restore this or have I ruined it?
My son scribbled on my dad's brown leather sofa with black felt pen. I freaked out as I knew how angry he would be (covers are not removable and sofas were recent and pretty expensive) and remembered we had this alcohol rub stuff that says it's for furniture, not really sure what it is exactly it's like a gel consistency and is extremely strong and turns to powder if you get it on your hands. I know my dad said he bought it to use on sofas but I think he was referring to the suede sofa in the other room. So stupidly I used it and I scrubbed. Now I have almost rubbed the colour away from the sofa, it's a light brown patch over medium brown sofa - very noticeable. It looks how leather looks after many years of wear and tear. Plus you can still see the pen lightly. I've made the problem a thousand times worse, it looks awful. The leather is very soft and matte. Is there anything I can do now (preferably before said father notices - I'm keeping a cushion over it at the moment but that can only last so long) or do I need to begin saving for a new sofa? moreResolved Question: Im colorblind so these colors seem good to me but does it to you?
I'm colorblind so these colors seem good to me but does it to you? I ama single male going for a modern look. The only furniture I have now is 1) a High Gloss white shelf 2) white tv stand 3) Samsung Flat panel with a black border (will be hung on wall) 4) White leather sofa. I have hardwood floors that are on the darker side rather then lighter. I am going to use Behr paint and I really would like to have accent wall that is a darker blue because I think it will look good with the hardwood and make the white high gloss shelves and couch pop. So my questions are: 1) If I choose a dark navy blue as an accent wall would the white furniture I have work? 2) For the other walls would you recommend I use a lighter blue, dark Chocolate brown, silver, gray, or forest green with it? 3) Someone also mentioned using a Chocolate brown with the accent wall and blue on the other walls. Would the white furniture go with the brown accent wall? Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help! moreLeather Sofa Furniture News
