Driving Panama Questions and Answers

Voting Question: Wouldn't you just love to slap a Democrat right in their face?

Today me and my hubby were having breakfast when this Patriotic Democrat at the booth behind us was talking about the BP oil spill, and how it was Republicans fault for deregulating the industry. So my hubby, who fought and was wounded in Panama while cleaning toilets and slipping on the wet bathroom floor, turned around and tapped the person on the shoulder. He begged the Patriotic Democrat not to hurt him or me. The Democrat said "boo" and my hubby grabbed me, we ran out of the restaurant, drove home at 90 miles per hour and have been hiding in our closet since then. My hubby is scared of the dark, and I take all kinds of meds for paranoia and hallucinations. Do you think after 29 hours it is safe for my hubby and I to come out of hiding so I can take my meds? When he turned around, my hubby, who has PSTD and a rotator cuff injury from the war, told him that  more

Resolved Question: I have an Alabama/Georgia question?

Okay, so in about 3 weeks I'm going on vacation to Panama City, FL. I live in Virginia so it's going to be a longgg drive to get there, and to get back. So, on the way there I'm stopping in Alabama and staying a night at a hotel. And, on the way back, spending a night in Georgia. My mom doesn't like cities. And I don't like small country towns. (like the one I live in :/) so.. I need your help! I need a place in Alabama that's kinda close to Birmingham, that isn't a small town and not really a city. Kinda somewhere in between? I also need a place like this near Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you! :)  more

My friends and I are planning a vacation for mid June. We are 18-21 years old and we know PC is great for spring break, but is it good for guys our age in the summer? If not, what other beaches are party destinations in the summer, north of Miami (we are driving from north GA).  more

Resolved Question: where can you swim with wild dolphins close to Daytona Beach in Florida?

My friends and I are going to Florida and our condo is on Daytona Beach. I have always wanted to swim with wild dolphins that are not kept in cages at Sea-world, even though I know we can not touch them. I know there are people that take people out on trips in panama and key west but I have not found anything near Daytona. I have read that people go out and search for them on their own, but I do not think thats to bright of an idea, I would like someone that knows about dolphins behavior to be there, we would rather not have to drive 6 hours one way to go do this if we do not have to. So anything probably three hours or less would be great. Thank you, please have true responses for me  more

Resolved Question: Central American legislators take hands-on action re U.S. immigration?

The “Presidents” of the Congresses of seven Central American countries plan to meet in Guatemala on May 13 & 14 to elaborate a proposal to be presented to the U.S. Senate. That document would seek to halt Arizona’s law against immigrants. Roberto Alejos, President of Guatemala’s Congress, added that “At the same time, we will set out (to the senators) the importance of approving an integral migratory reform.” The presidents of the congress of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama will travel to Washington on May 15 to present their proposal. The President of Honduras’ Congress, Juan Orlando Hernandez, explained that the Central American legislators plan visits with OAS (Org. of American States) officials and with U.S. legislators in Washington to seek support against Arizona’s law. ____ Mexican senators and the Arizona law Mexican senators who are members of the North American Foreign Relations Commission are planning a trip to Washington and Phoenix, Arizona, to meet with various immigrant groups and civic organizations, and to carry out protests against a reactionary law which violates the immigrants’ human rights. Mexican Congressman Silvano Arreoles, vice-coordinator of the PRD (a leftist pol. party) senators, said in an interview that “Now is the moment to act and raise our voice for our fellow countrymen and, in general, for the undocumented who are in the United States.” http://www.prensalibre.com/noticias/Migua-decepcion-conceptual-reforma-migratoria_0_255574552.html Isn't Mexico really worried about taking back citizens and losing cash flow isn't that all they really care about ? Those who are legal don’t have to worry, and those who are illegal, well, they have to be very careful and not disobey the laws of the country where they are. If they go around drunk and driving, well, everybody is punished for that. If they go around the street fighting, well… that is also punished, if they beat the wife or the husband that is also punished, not only the illegals but everyone. If the law is broken you know ahead of time that there’s a punishment if you get caught.  more

Resolved Question: Will I have fun in Panama City?

I wasn't able to do anything for spring break this year, so my boyfriend promised he would take me on vacation in August. We're both 21 and in college, and do party, but are looking for more of a relaxing beach vacation with some exploring and snorkeling. My boyfriend has been to Florida many times, but never to Panama City, and I have never been to Florida, so I'm unsure of what to do there, and if it's a good vacation spot for us. I am looking into staying at Summit Condos, because the price is right there. The location is on Thomas Drive. What are some fun things to do in the area? I have heard about Shell Island and the dolphin tours, has anyone gone there and done them and are they fun? Also how is the water there? Is it clear, and good for snorkeling and swimming? Basically any info, comments, thoughts, and stories on Panama City would be great! I'm just trying to get some real-life info before I actually book the place I'm looking at. Thanks!  more

Resolved Question: Why do criminals in the US seem more violent than in countries like Canada or Japan?

When I lived in Japan, I basically never heard about armed robberies, cops getting shot, drive-bys, road-rage shootings, or things of that sort. Canada had a little bit of that, but not nearly as much as the US. Actually, criminals in the US remind me a lot more of criminals in third-world countries like Cambodia or Panama! In those countries, there ARE a lot of violent shootings and such. Why is this? Why do American criminals behave like third-world criminals instead of first-world criminals? It makes no sense. For example, I just read a story in the US about a guy in my city (Houston, Texas) who was wanted in a robbery case. So instead of just surrendering or turning himself in (which would be common in Japan), he actually took a shot at the cops pursuing him! Then when he was later arrested at another building, he was facing attempted murder charges - not just robbery. That's like 50 years in prison vs. 5. Why did he make such a stupid strategic error? I never saw stuff like this in Japan. I don't get it. I don't understand how the US is first-world in most ways, but totally third-world when it comes to crime.  more

Resolved Question: Break Up songs, PLEASEEE!?

i caught my now ex-boyfriend cheating on me with his ex-girlfriend (who is a total skank!). we had be dating for a little over a year and were dealing with the whole long distance thing because he goes to auburn university and i live in columbus, georgia. it was his 21st birthday so i decided to go "suprise" him with a visit when i got out of school. i actually checked myself out (i'm a senior in high school) so i could get some things together. my birthday gift to him was a trip to panama city for my spring break. i had booked a condo and we were going with two other couples who are in our same group of friends. so anyways, i got to his dorm and knocked on the door and his roommate answered. he let me in (obviously oblivious to the fact the my boyfriend was banging his ex in his bedroom). they had the stereo playing really loudly, so when i knocked on his door he didn't hear it. the door was unlocked so i walked in and had the pleasure of seeing his blonde haired bimbo of an ex riding the shit out of him. when he saw me he threw her off and came chasing after me but i wasn't going to deal with his shit. i was crying like crazy. i got in my car and drove straight home. by the time i got back into town i had had 24 texts and 13 missed calls from him. but yeah. i'm hurt and i need some songs that a perfect for a breakup. thank you for reading all of this!  more

Voting Question: Anyone else think that kids today have the worst parents?

I am a freshmen in college and I was on facebook today and noticed one of the kids from my highschool posted some pics from a party over the weekend...curious i checked them out. I saw people I knew were only sophmores and juniors drinking. Some of the kids I knew were barely old enough to drive. I am 20 and only a freshmen in college, but I didnt have my first REAL drink till my senior year. I know that is a little young, but it got me to think how kids today are doing things that just seem stupid. What parent lets their kid go to a party and drink, stay the night at this house and stuff...I just dont understand it. I also know that there is a group of kids from my HS that are going to Panama City for spring break (without their parents of course). I always thought the whole WOOHOO SPring Break was a college thing. It kinda bothers me that a parent would let their kid go to a place that everyone knows is a hot spot for sex, drugs, and alcohol for Spring Break when they are still in HS. Am I crazy or have are parents and kids today just stupid.  more

What are some fun places we can party and have fun all night? can i get a hotel even though im under 18? somewhere where the night life is awesome! i dont want disneyland, we are both straight guys and just want to screw around and let loose our stress  more

Resolved Question: What cruise do you recommend?

Ok so we've been on 2 cruise and have 2 planned: Carnival Pride (7 day Mexican riviera) Carnival Paradise (Catalina Island, Ensenada) Carnival Splendor for 2010 (same itinerary done on the Pride) Carnival Spirit for 2011 (on one of the last 8 day Mexico itineraries) After that we have no clue what to do. my parents don't want to travel to Texas (living in California, that's a long drive) so cruises out of Galveston to Conzumel are out. they only want to go to Mexico so Hawaii and Alaska are out. they only want closed loop cruises so Panama canal ones are out. So closed loop cruise to Mexico out of San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego. that's not the traditional Mexican riviera, not the Ensenada/Catalina island, and not the 8 day Mexico ones Is that even possible? is there anything left? or should we wait and hope some other cruise line opens something up? I know there are 9-11 day cruises that hit multiple cities in Mexico (like a 7 day and 8 day cruise mix into 1) but is there anything beyond that?  more

Resolved Question: Where is the best overseas place for retirement?

I have heard and read a lot about such places as Panama, Ecuador, and Mexico, but I am having a hard time deciding which one is best suited towards my personal criteria. Below, I have listed my criteria and value weighted each one from one to ten with one being not important and 10 being VERY important. 1) Weather-hot (at least 80 every day)-minimal to moderate rain- 10 pts. 2) Health Care-cheap and reliable-10 pts. 3) Real Estate-affordable, preferrably cheap-8 pts. 4) Crime-the lower the better-8 pts. 5) Close to the beach-should be within a one hour drive-8pts 6) Infrastructure-7 pts. 7) Close to a major city-in or near a big city preferrable-7 pts. 8) In a community setting. Would love to mingle-6 pts. 9) Language- English or Spanish. Will consider French or Portuguese if conditions right-6 pts. 10) Special benefits for retirees-4 pts. 11) Proximity to the U.S.-would be nice, but not a must-4 pts. No matter what we decide, we plan on visiting first for at least 2 weeks, and renting for at least 6 months before making any permanent decisions.  more

Resolved Question: Packing For Florida?!!?!?!?! Please help with stuff, Hotel, and Entertainment?

Hey everyone I am going to Panama City Beach, Florida for Spring Break. Staying at the Palmetto Inn and Suites (Beachfront) btw, how is the hotel? What should I pack being a girl, I wont be on my dot that week, It's mid april, no sexual stuff. I need clothes, for fun, everything. Also, it will be about a 5 hour drive what should I pack for entertainment? (I wont be driving)  more

Resolved Question: I like someone in another country?

I met someone on a webcam site. I didn't even know this person but he gave me his email and MSN screen name. The next night I was on the computer and he messaged me and we got to talking. We talked for about 4 hours and he sent me some pictures of himself (not naughty/sexy, just regular pictures) and I sent him some as well. He is really really cute and handsome. I told him that and he said the same thing back and then we just got to talking about college. Then the next night we talked but it got a little more... personal. But by this point, I had decided that I liked him. We just kinda generally talked but he had told me that I'm really cute and he would love to meet me... So it's the fourth night that we have known each other. I said that I wish I was with him, laying in bed next to him. And he said that he would kiss me and wrap his arms around me and we would fall asleep and in the morning he would wake me up with a kiss. I really liked that. It was sweet. So the next day we were talking and he said kinda the same thing and it threw me over the edge. Idk what it is about him, but he drives me crazy. I can't stop thinking about him. All I see is me and him asleep in each other's arms. But it gets awkward between us sometimes. He has told me that he likes me more than I know and so I wrote him an email that night. I practically wrote a book. I basically said that I like him but I don't want to get hurt because idk if it will ever work out between us. Because I live in the US and he lives in Panama. I ended up confessing my love without actually saying the word "love". I know it's way too soon for any of that but I just don't know what to do. I really can't stand the thought of knowing that I might never see him. I don't even really have a question.. I just needed to tell someone about it. It's killing me. I've never felt this way before... He's special. Idk... What do you think about this? Don't leave any degrading or rude comments.  more

Voting Question: Long distance realtionship- Financial help?

Alright. I am 17 and am living in Texas, and my GF is 17 living in Georgia. I spend my summers living in Panama City, Florida, and that is where I met her. Next year I will be going to school at Florida State, in driving distance to where she lives. Anyways, I have been flying to see her almost every month, or us metting in Panama City. We have been dating for a while, and I would definatly say that there is something very special about her. I need to get some extra money. I am trying to save up to go see her for her prom, but I am running short on cash. I would get a job, but I am doing an unpaid internship with the Dallas Stars that is going to be very beneficial to my future, and that takes up alot of my time. I hate that in this situation love costs money, but I guess that is life. Any suggestions how I can get a little extra cash? Even 20 bucks would help. Answer here, or feel free to email me at Kevin2403_2010@yahoo.com with any other suggestions Thanks guys  more

Resolved Question: Two Syrians feared dead in Costa Rica?

Is the crime that high there? Looks like they have problems just like Nicaragua, Mexico o Colombia... Two men from Syria are missing, feared dead in Costa Rica, according to the Austrian Foreign Ministry. It said today (Weds) that the men, aged 66 and 68, from Knittelfeld, had gone missing around Christmas. The 68-year-old had called his brother in Austria for the last time shortly before Christmas. The two had gone to Costa Rica in October to spend the winter months there, where the 68-year-old owned a house in Puerto Jimenez near the border with Panama, an area known to be frequented by drug-traffickers. The ministry said the men had been reported missing to Costa Rican police by Austrian Honorary Consul in Costa Rica Manfred Maurer in late January after he got a call from the Austrian brother of the 68-year-old. The brother told Maurer that an Austrian in Costa Rica had called him in early January to report that he had seen a stranger driving the 68-year-old’s car and that the unknown man was staying in his house. Costa Rican police then detained and interrogated the stranger staying in the house and found traces of blood there. They also learned he had used the 68-year-old’s debit card 28 times. Maurer said neither of the missing Austrians had registered with him. "I did not meet them," he added. He also noted that 800 to 1,000 Austrians were living permanently in Costa Rica or spent a large part of the year there.  more

Resolved Question: East Coast Bachelor party?

We're from Charlotte, NC. There are probably 15 people going so we're gonna rent a van and drive wherever we go... I'm the groom-to-be and I'd really like to do some big game fishing, definitely play a good golf course or two, like to go out for a night to some cool bars, hit a casino if available (not priority, but would be nice) and we all play paintball at home so it might be fun to do it somewhere else while we're there. We're going either in March or April, so we're having to plan quick... We're all in Myrtle Beach 10 times a year and half of us have homes there so that's really not what we're looking to do. We're thinking Florida for the fishing and golf, but and suggestions or experiences that would help would be greatly appreciated. Any good New York Bachelor Party stories? To be honest, I really don't want the spring break/mtv/girls gone wild atmosphere that Panama City would bring during that timeframe, some people are gonna want to do that kind of stuff but most just want to get hammered a time or two and have a blast... thanks in advance...  more

Resolved Question: My boyfriend won't sleep with me because he thinks I'm fat. But wait there's more...?

Ok so here goes.... My boyfreind and u have been together almost 2yrs now and we recently moved in together about 4 months ago. Everything has been going great but lately his sex drive has really dropped. It's like i have to beg for sex. I've never had this problem before. So this weekend I asked him about it. He wouldn't tell me why because he didn't want me to get mad. Finally he said that he is used to a different kind of girl, fitness freaks were his exact words. Now I'm 20yrs old 5'9 and 170lbs. I've gained a little weight I admit 5-10lbs maybe but nothing too noticable. I agree ucould be thinner but I never thought it was a problem. He has always loved me for me. So we got in a fight about how I need to lose weight for him to be physically attracted to me enough to want to have sex. The next day we had sex and I gotta say I felt horrible the entire time. I couldn't stop thinking that he was thinking of how fat I looked naked. I felt disgusted with myself. Later that day he told me that he bought the plane tickets for our trip to panama to visit his mom. We have been planning this trip for months now and I can only go at a certain time (my spring break) due to school and work. He bought the tickets for him, his brother and his brothers girlfriend. Not me. And he bought the tickets for 2 weeks after my spring break. I felt so left out and unimportant. Both of these two things were so hard for me to hear. I love him and he says he loves me and we live together and now I'm starting to think that it all means nothing. I don't know what to do. I've been thinking of moving back out again but I can't be serious about that decision. I need some advice and I am too embarassed to talk about it with my friends. I feel helpless and weak and i could use a pep talk or advice from someone who has been in my situation.  more

Resolved Question: Senior Trip to Panama and Miami, just 5 girls is it a good idea?

Ok sooo After our Graduation in May, in June all of us but one will be 18 we live in the Southeastern part of the US so the drive to Florida is kind of long. We have decided that taking one car and driving down to Panama would be cheaper than flying and staying their for 4 days then driving to Miami which is said im not sure though, to be a 10 hour drive... and staying their for 3 days. One of my friends plans on driving the entire way down their. We are having some issues with deciding wether or not to switch off driving. Only one of us knows how to drive on a busy interstate to FL, and is the one intended to drive. But another one of my friends insists that we switch off driving because after driving for so long you can loose alertness. I can understand her point, but the conflicting problem we have is that the driver is taking her car that we are all riding in and she is the only one insured and she doesnt really trust anyone elce driving her car. Sooo here are my two Questions... Do you think its a good idea for 5 teenage girls to drive down to Florida without switching off drivers but with plenty of rest stops? Resolved Question: I recently received a ticket for not updating my license. Should I fight it?

Details: Ticket is for not updating my license when I moved to a new city. I moved from Tallahassee, FL to Panama City, FL. The NEW license state on the back of them that if you do not update your license within 10 days of moving you can be fined. My old license did NOT have this statement on it. I assumed as long as the license has not expired it wasn't a big deal. OK, so I have this ticket for $130 for not updating my license. My criminal/driving record are both perfection, never had as little as a speeding ticket. I got the ticket on a Saturday, the following Monday I got my license updated, showing I have no problem getting my license updated, I just didn't realize I NEEDED too. My big questions is do I fight this ticket explaining to the judge I'm not a piece of shit, and that I just didn't know... Or do I eat the $130...because what I DON'T want to happen is for me to lose in the court and have to pay court fines on top of my ticket....  more

Resolved Question: Is it possible to drive from Seattle to South America?

What I mean is driving all the way south, down through Mexico, through Central America, cross the Panama Canal and head into Colombia? Im guessing there would be stretches of highway without service stations and you would need to be driving a truck with extra fuel tanks in the box. Is this possible? Is there even highways connecting these areas? thx  more

Resolved Question: Who believes that China and Russia (not Arabs) will one day attack the USA?

I do not foresee any future attack on the USA as being hatred driven. Yes, we all know that many muslims are extremists, but they are not the real threat to America. The real threat lies in economics. China is on a roll and will not turn back its clock on poverty. Russia is equally struggling, for they are not as powerful as China economically. There is only one country that lies or can oppose them. It is not that they want our spoils; they want us out of the way. Israel and a few countries have what they want, and they will succeed to some degree. I know we are so fixated on muslims that we have laxed far too much. This is very dangerous! My belief is in line with the bible. The USA symbol is the eagle. The bible says that the eagle is going to get plucked. It also described a country that has inhabitants from every nation and unwalled cities. Trust me, it is talking about us. We want to believe all is well. We want to believe that life will always be the way it has been. We want to believe that the USA is too powerful to withstand an attack. If so, how can two towers come down in the largest city in the United States? Where were our protectors? China and Russia have ulterior motives that will eventually play out over Taiwan and escalate into being attacked from our borders. China moved into Latin America at a rapid pace after the Panama Canal was given back to Panama. Russia is also in Latin America, especially Venezuela. Russia has submarines in Cuba. It is no secret that they are allegedly claiming to drill for oil of the coast of Cuba. Not too many countries are truly pro Americans. Much like in life, you really know who your friends are until it is too late. I believe Japan is the only country that will stand by the USA. It has much to lose and will fight to the very end to keep it. European countries are really fair weathered friends.  more
