Open Question: What would you do if...?
If you were sitting on the loung chair on a saturday night in your friends-style apartment, eating chicken strips from KFC that you got with the $50.00 you found on the ground on your way back to get out of the rain because it was a very wet, cold night outside. Well eating your chicken strips your mind starts to wonder, the thoughts wizzing around in your head causing you to put your chicken strips in the fridge in exchange for last-nights chinese food and then a chinese gypsy comes out and says "Herro my name is scheawua'ann (pronounced shoe-one) and I am here to give you 3 wishes (exluding more wishes) But chose carefully Patrick" you: "HOW THE ^%&^% DO YOU KNOW MY NAME!!!!!!!" :Its on your name tags" He replies with that slight tone in his voice suggesting you are a major douche bag, you look down thinking god i'm a loser why the %^%*& am I wearing two name tags, one saying patrick the other one reading the pat-anator. What would your three wishes be? moreOpen Question: Linguistics or Accounting?
I'm so lost in life right now. I've wasted almost 2 years out of high school amounting to pretty much nothing. I tried to go to school for a major in Biology to get into Optometry. It turned out a bust from the start since I was heavily influenced by my family to do something medical, so I had no motivation to do good in my classes. I ended up dropping out. Now I'm back to square one with trying my hardest not to take in anyone's opinion but my own. I really truly want a future, but am so scared to even set foot out for the fear of failure. I feel like I have to be the very best or do nothing, and I know it doesn't have to be that way.I've done some major reflecting on myself thinking back to high school when I had ideas on what I wanted to be. Languages has always been a huge interest for me, dating back to middle school when I was trying to learn Japanese. Over the years I've picked up a little in many languages, but now am trying to be serious to stick with Portuguese. I fluently speak English and Spanish (thanks to my mexican/spanish background). That's where I picked up the idea that I should do something that has to do with languages. I don't know much about how you go about seeking employment in it though, which is of course a problem. The idea that I got for accounting is, that once I push through the laziness, I can be quite good at math. I mean a lot of math is just it giving you an equation, and you plug in numbers into it and you balance it to make it a true statement (if possible). I also know that accounting isn't just all about crunching numbers. I have more of in interest in forensic accounting, but of course before I can do that I have to try out regular accounting. So I stand at what I believe are my own choices from my heart, yet I still feel compelled to get someone's opinion on which one I believe I should choose. Heads or tails? Pray for a sign? Just flat out ask people? I'm just scared it will end up like the whole Optometry failure again. I need questions that really make me think of what career could really suit me best. Thanks in advance for those who read all of this! moreOpen Question: How does modulo algebra work?
Ok, so call me stupid (Senior undergrad math major that I am) but something about using modulo to solve basic things just DOESN'T make sense to me. For example. One of my homework problems is to solve this congruence: 4x (is congruent to) 1(mod)7 and the answer is supposed to be: x (is congruent to) 2(mod)7 I have NO idea how to get that answer from the question. Another one of our homework problems is to "Find the units digit of 3^29 + 11^12 + 15" given the hint: Choose an appropriate modulus n, and then reduce modulo n. Basically, my teacher teaches AFTER our homework is due and already turned in, making it almost impossible to do. Not to mention he calls students to the board to do proofs of what we're studying and I'm first in line come tomorrow morning.... moreOpen Question: Just a few silly roommate problems?
I chose my roommate and we get along GREAT but there are a few things that bug me about her and i don't know how to go about fixing them: 1. She copies what I wear! I know she has her own style because I've seen her clothes and seen what she's worn in pictures, but when I get dressed first in the morning or to go out, or do my hair first, she will wear a replica of my outfit of hairstyle! It's really weird! And sometimes annoying/embarrassing 2. All of the girls on our floor write on each other's whiteboards (dry erase) like stupid "I Love Lainey!" messages and stuff, but when IIIII write them on her board, she always says, "Why don't you write it on your own board?" like...why would I write "I love Tiffy!" (her name is Tiffany, but seh goes by Tiffy) on MY board? We all write on each other';s boards and it was odd that she reprimanded me. 3. She talks like a two year old 80% of the time. She is very whiney and will talk in a baby voice. I talk in a baby voice once in a while too joking around, but she is a WHINER! As an education major, I've often dealt with kids not talking in their 'big girl voice' and i almost want to say that to her, but obvi it would be condescending. 4. I brought alcohol to school and she didn't. I don't want to keep supplying her with alcohol (it only takes three shots and she's so drunk though, don't worry - I take care of her) but it's annoying that she EXPECTS me to let her drink mine, when like...I paid for that. 5. She always asks to use my computer! She has a Mac, it's brand new. My computer is brand new too and I'm a fairly private person, but she always asks to use mine "for a sec" but I don't like her using my computer. So yeah, what can I do about these things? moreOpen Question: Should I break up with him?
Ok , so I want to know if you think i should break up with my boyfriend (we have been together for over three months and im 13) because he doesn't really Talk o me much anymore like when we were first going out we texted each other all the time except when hes with his friends. but lately hes been with his friends a lot and he NEVER texts me when hes with a friend and i asked him if i text him and he cant talk if he can just let me know hey i cant talk right now and he said yes but never does. I only know it cause im usually texting th friend hes with! and hes mean to my friends like he says bad stuff about them and to them and usually leaves a bad first impression on them so i cant go out on group dates with him. he also takes everything to seriously like one time he showed up to a dance wearing neon green pants and a giant plain neon green tee-shirt and i said he should let me choose his outfits from now on jokingly and he took it really serious and got really upset. also he causes a lot of problems and gets mad at everyone else when he started the drama and makes me go after him and im usually the one who has to fix it cause he gets all mad. so i need major help!! also how can i get him to stay friends if we do break up cuz i really want to! and sorry for the long description guys! but thanks! and please dont say you're too young to date because my parents allow me to! moreOpen Question: Does Anyone know anything about the book Sparrow hawk Red?

First answer gets 10pts.?
Also? Any pointers of things i should add or remove? (ESSAY #1 on how society has impacted me) My parents chose to homeschool me my whole life, because they disagreed with multiple things involved with our public school system, not all public school systems, but ours in particular. Because of the district that I live in, as well as the point in time that which we are living, my education path was impacted. A few decades ago my parents would not have thought twice about sending their child to a public school. However, as time has passed, public schools have, in their opinion, lost their focus on academics and there has been a decline in the mores of the community. Thus, choosing to homeschool seemed, at the time, to be in my best interest to avoid these petty distractions and secular ideals. When I saw my friends and other people my age attending public or private schools, I could not help but wonder how I might have been affected differently if I had attended a public school. If the society we live in had been different, then my parents would have decided to send me to a public or private school, and I probably would have had more social experiences and a different educational backround, whether it was more challenging or not. Despite the fact that I wanted to attend a public school most of middle-school and all of high-school, there are aspects from my homeschooled upbringing that I’ve appreciated. It has given me more opportunities, including being able to have a steady job even through the school year, as well as, starting to take college classes earlier than most. I obviously do not know exactly how my outcome would have differed if I had not been homeschooled, however, I do know I would be a different person, personally and academically. I am also now aware of the pros and cons of homeschooling, and how it has molded me. So, if it were not for how the educational aspects are of society in this day, I have been impacted differently throughout grade school, and will most likely continue to affect me for the rest of my life. ESSAY #2 ON HOW I SEE MYSELF IMPACTING SOCIETY IN THE NEXT DECADE: Since I have yet to make a firm decision on my college major, it is difficult to predict in what ways I will be impacting society in five to ten years. Though, whether they are small or large, I think everyone imagines himself or herself doing great things. And I hope that my future experiences and even my career will give me an opportunity to have a positive affect on the “world” in a way more than just getting a paycheck every week. I think that upon graduation and reaching adulthood, it will be time to “give back” in some way. Volunteer opportunities abound, even for students and recent graduates. Having seen members of my own family volunteer their time in ways such as teaching illiterate adults how to read and helping abused women during their recovery time at the hospital has made me want to do the same and maybe even more. What better way to impact society than to help other people during time of need or crisis? Even though I have these ideals or visions of how I see myself affecting humankind in the next decade, it seems almost presumptuous to say what my future self will be like. It is realistic to think I will be finishing up getting my college degree, continuing on with life, while maybe making only a minor difference to a close circle of people around me. I might take on a cause like animal rescue or participating in some right to life fundraiser. Maybe I’ll get married and have children and my family will be my sphere of influence for a time. Eventually, I can see myself rallying in some way for a politician who I believe could make my county, state, or even country a better place. I don’t see myself running for office personally, but every candidate relies on support from the “small guy,” and even after elected they need a team that will stand behind them and help to further their ideas. Some people see themselves as leaders doing great things to improve society, becoming president or running a successful business or using their talents to affect great numbers of people. I do not know if I will find myself even pursuing such lofty goals, but I am confident that God created me for a purpose and whether that is large or small in the world’s eyes, I know it will be of value because He will use me in one way or the other to impact society. Thanks, first good answer gets 10pts. (sorry if theyre long, just skim through and tell me what you think) moreOpen Question: Why do academically unprepared students choose to major in nursing?
I have a master's degree and went to college with students majoring in nursing. Several people I knew majored in nursing. Two of my roommates majored in nursing...one completed the program and the other was unsuccessful. The one that was unsuccessful saw it as a way to make money and did not understand how serious the major was, nor did I observe her having the study skills and dedication for the program. A friend of mine was unsuccessful the first semester in the program due to a statistics class and she regrouped and studied harder and is getting her MA in nursing today. An associate of mine got her 2 year degree in nursing but it took her almost 4 years because she was working and had kids. I also know other girls I went to college with who declared nursing as their major and didn't even make it into the program because their grades were not strong enough. Now that I am older, I constantly meet young women who did not go to college right after high school and are now trying to go to college 10 years later major in nursing after having one or two children. Some of them may not have children but work full-time jobs to make ends meet. Many are not married. Some of these women I know personally and due to my experience of living with nursing students, I understand how tough the program is and how much dedication it requires. I know that you can be successful in college as an older student with kids because I was a single parent working on my masters but I was not in the medical field. I'm not trying to discourage these women. However, these women that I know were not strong academically in high school. Some have a GED. They seem to be choosing this major because they like to help people and view it as a lucrative job. I have heard many of them say they hate math and think science is boring. I am not sure if this disqualifies a person from going into the field but I know my college friends had to take lots of science and math classes. I'm wondering why they are choosing this major if they are not prepared? One of the girls I met is choosing nursing as a last resort because all of her other ventures have failed. moreOpen Question: Is it good if I Major in Finance and International business?
Two of my best friends are major in Accounting and Finance. When I told them I would like to choose International business instead of the accounting, they said the combination is so-so. I had two accounting class before, and i really not into them. But, I had one business math, it is fun. Then, I choose International business is because I know how to speak, read and write Chinese. In fact, English is my second language. =/ I just wanna know if finance and international business is a good combination to learn, and, I Just hope it will be easier for me to find a good job as having a double major. moreOpen Question: Boring Job need advice?
Hi, I started a graduate scheme at an engineering firm 2 months ago and I had high hopes for it. I thought Id put up with a modest salary for great experience with a major firm that had a good reputation. But at the moment I have to say that it kinda sucks. I really dont do much at work and most of the stuff I do learn is from reading. Ive told my self that Im gonna give it 6 months and if it doesn't pick up then Ill start appying somewhere else. im only concerned that employers will look at it and worry about the fact that I left so soon. I once came to hours late to work because of transport delys and no one seemed to care! My day at work usually is 20% work and 80% finding stuff to do wothout bothering people who are busy. This is my first real job after graduating and I feel I'm wasting the early days of my working life. I chose the firm because the won awards for their training program, but i dont understand how. hey have brand reputation and a large knowledge base to make use of but the Job is not teaching me anything, I dont feel Im developing professionally. Advice please anyone. moreOpen Question: Which Major should I choose or Should I Wait?
Lately I've been looking at colleges and a few of them I want to go to have restrictions on how many majors and minor you can have. I know your major doesn't always directly relate to a job you're going to have but I'm definitely going to major in microbiology or biology because there are a lot of paths you could take with it, and I would love doing it. But I also want to major in linguistics and minor in Japanese because the classes at one of the colleges I want to attend would overlap but still count for credits. But at my other choices I would have to choose between linguistics and Japanese. Which one should I choose as a major and which one would be a better minor? I'm taking Japanese now and I really like it, I want to work as a translator some day but linguistics really interests me and I think it would help me learn other languages in the future so I would probably like doing that more. I want to decide now so I don't go to a school with a lot of curriculum restriction and end up not being able to do something I love but the schools with the most restrictions are the higher ranked schools. Would it be better for me to go to a lower ranked school to give myself time to choose? moreOpen Question: Why do poor or less than stellar academic students choose to major in nursing?

Physics, chemistry, or computer science?
I'm a current freshman at the University of Texas in San Antonio (UTSA) and my current major is computer science with an emphasis in software engineering. I've recently thought about changing majors to chemistry or even possibly physics. I chose CS because of how important technology is now days along with computer technology being of high interest to me. I have an equally high interest in chemistry and physics is making its way up there also. Math is probably my highest strong suit in school and I'm fascinated with how things work. I love doing research and problem solving through experimentation. The factors that will come into play on deciding my major will be job opportunities, starting salary, and how much i can contribute back to humanity. If you have any opinions or facts on anything previously stated I would highly appreciate hearing them. I'm not tied down to UTSA so if you know of good schools for these majors I would love to hear about those too. I don't know if this would make any difference but I'm also a very passionate musician. Thanks a ton for your help guys!!! Engineering is of interest also but it's not as high as CS, chemistry or physics moreOpen Question: How or can I become a medic in the military? (confused and lost 17 year old)?
I have just started senior year in high school and time is closing in on me to choose a college to go to next year, what to major in, how to prepare, and other stressful things. I am very interested in becoming a medic or paramedic or EMT or something similar. I do not want to be a doctor however, since it takes too long (4 years college, 4 years premed, 4 years residential, etc.) and it is too expensive and I wouldn't be able to afford it. Do you need a doctors degree to become a paramedic / field medic / combat medic , etc. ? Should I go to college first then enlist in the army as a medic? Or should i enlist first and gain training as a medic by the military? I am also confused about what branch to go to. Army medic, air force medic, combat medic, reserves medic, etc. whats the difference between all of them ?!?!? Do you need to be really strong, or fit, or athletic to be a military medic? I am trying my best to build muscle mass, but it may take a while for me. THANKS A LOT ! Well i actually have two questions and it would be great if someone coule answer both :) So i am a Senior this year at my high school, and like everyone else, it is the time for serious college activities. I have read online somewhere that letter of recommendations usually tend to resemble a major you choose, and that it SHOULD reflect the major you choose. This worries me because i am planning to opt a major in the medicinal sciences (pre-med, pharm, etc.) and i did not have the room to choose such topics as anatomy (because my school does not have ap anatomy, so i decided to take another ap science course). I understand that it is in a way fair to assume that the letters of rec would reflect this, but does anyone know if perhaps it wont affect it to such a great degree that the chances of me getting into a college like USC are thwarted? As for my second question, the teacher(s) that i have confronted for the letters of rec have asked me to comprise a resume for them to facilitate their work (since they obviously have other things to worry about like teaching). Can someone shed some light to how i should write my resume. Like should i just follow the job resume format or something? Thanks for feedback, Yahoo Community. On the note of admission to colleges, My GPA is 3.88(unweighted)+ (ap scores gave me grade changes so it should be higher than this now) SAT 1 2000+, and SAT 2's 700+. Could someone possibly give me a certain list of schools i should be able to get into? :X Thanks again. Oh and yes i do live in california (So-Cal) moreOpen Question: Help choosing a colllege?

Alright, here's the deal. I've narrowed down my future to 2 possible choices, but I have no idea which one to pick. I feel that if I choose one, I'll regret not choosing the other for the rest of my life. I'm at the end of my high school career. I've made it to my senior year, I've been accepted into my colleges of choice, and now I just have to sleepwalk through my final year into graduation. I've always had a passion for computers. This probably stems from playing on computers since I was 8, but I started really digging the technical stuff around 3 years ago. Whenever I come across something I don't know how to do, I'll spend hours learning how to do it (and then some more), while having a total blast with it. Whenever someone has a problem with their computer, they always come to me, and I usually have even more fun fixing it for them. My first career choice is in computers. For the past 3 years, it has been the ONLY choice. In 6th grade, my parents told me I had to do some kind of extracurricular, so I chose band. I picked up the concert baritone, since I liked the sound it gave. I didn't much care for music at the time, probably because we didn't play anything particularly interesting. Freshman year, I learned that there was a whole new side to it all. The music suddenly became much less stiff, and enjoyable. But I truly started having fun when I joined our jazz band. I was forced to pick up trombone, but I ended up loving it. See, we don't really play much slow jazz. We mostly do big band stuff. This year is when it finally hit me. "I'm never gonna get to do this again...". Lately, it's been digging into me really bad. Suddenly, I can't even see myself doing computers anymore. I see myself playing all different kinds of music, traveling around, etc. I was accepted into Capital University already, so I could choose this if I wanted to, but I'm scared. I'm scared that I might just be thinking all this because I don't want it to end, and that I'll regret it in the years to come. I don't know what I'm really expecting as far as help, but I know I needed to vent. Any advice would be appreciated, though. moreOpen Question: How should I ask out this shy guy in my Math class?
College started 2 weeks ago and we only meet for Calc II on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I came in late the second day of class and said aloud, ''Oh I forgot to pick up a syllabus!" He offered to get it for me, but I said no thanks. Throughout the rest of the class, the back of his neck and his ears were red. We have not had any interaction since then, but he always sits in the very back of the class, and I always choose the spot behind him. This last Thursday, I tapped his shoulder and asked if I could see his notes, and he smiled and whispered a joke to me. That's the extent of our interaction... I've been told by many people that I'm pretty, and I'm confident -- but I really want to ask him out and don't know how to approach him, and feel insecure and nervous just thinking about it. What should I do? I can't ask him for math help because he knows [two of my friends sit by me] I'm a Physics major, but perhaps I could ask to study with him? HELP, I don't even know him but I'm already crushing on him like CRAZY! moreOpen Question: Man on the Edge of Divorce {SERIOUS ADVICE TO A FRIEND}?
A friend came to me with a problem looking for advice. So here's the problem: He was a car guy. Loved working on anything with a motor since he was a kid. His dad was a master mechanic. His granddad was a mechanic. So it runs in his family. He has won several nation racing award. This is his big passion in life (aside form being a Dad) Long story short, 2 years into the marriage his wife had it with his husband spending so much time and energy at the shop. Again, he was making money and for him didn't feel like work. So she gave him an ultimatum. Give up working on cars, get a new job, and stay home more, or she will divorce him and file for sole custody of his son. He choose his family. Got a desk job (not as much money but a stable schedule. Comes home on a regular basis. Provides for his family and does whatever his wife wants. He even sold all his tools and covered his 3 car custom garage into a library for his wife. The problem is his wife is complaining how "he doesn't seem to have any passion for anything" and doesn't want that kind of influence around the child. Divorce talk is slowly creeping up. (I have to admit I have seen a major drop in this guy's zest for life. He still a nice guy, but there isn't a bounce in his step anymore.) The man is desperate not have his son come from a broken home. He grew up in one, and I personally think his wife is using that trauma against him. I don't know what advice to give him. He wants to get back that lifelong passion he had, without going back to cars. Personally I don't think it can be done. What advice would you give? Also what do you think of situation about giving up your life passion in the way he did? I would like to clear up. Even while he was working on cars he made it a point to be home every day and spend time with his kids or have the kids hang out with him at the shop to show that a man can get paid and love what he does. He also craves off date night every week with his wife, but I think his wife doesn't like how he loves something more than her. That's my guess and what he has said to me. It's a true story. I actually helped build the custom garage to his house. His wife always wanted a library for herself and hated the garage. It was HIS idea (as a sign of how committed he was to his family) that me and a few of his (mechanic) friends got together and renovated the garage to help him out. It's just Drywall, paint, laminate flooring, and bookshelves. The wife doesn't want anything to do with cars. No NASCAR, not custom cars TV shows. Even when me or any of his mechanic friends call up our friend for something, she screens the call. Example: I was having an engine compression problem I need advice on (the guy is a gear genius), and she freaking hung up on me. The only reason I haven't been filtered out yet was becuase I'm the Godfather to his kid. Pearl: The reason the hung out at the shop was he LOVED what he worked on. it was never a money issue. The man is a freaking legend in some circle. The man is no puss either. He is just in living fear of losing his kid, that the wife reminds him repeatedly. His back-story was at 12 his folks divorced, and becuase his old man had a drug problem, the mother got the child. a year later she abandoned him and spent the rest of the years bouncing around group homes. The only constant he had was working on cars. moreVoting Question: Which career should I choose and why are my parents trying to choose my career for me?
I am a high school Sophomore and I either want to become a producer, actress (not very much though) or a lawyer. I wanted to be a lawyer for years but then I started to think about it and I don't know how good I am at arguing. People say I love to argue, but I don't think I can make a good argument, although some people say I can, others I can't. I am going to start taking acting lessons next year as my elective. I've been obsessed with this one celebrity so I looked into becoming a producer and it sounded interesting. I've started watching the behind scenes stuff on DVDs and it looks like fun! I have an uncle who is a producer and he is unemployed. But, then my neighbor is a lawyer and he is unemployed also.I told my parents I want to be a producer and they said "NO WAY!". My dad said "if you major in producing, find a way to pay for your own college", but he said this in front of his friends so I don't know if he was joking or not. After he said this, my mom said "just minor in film." I am taking acting classes next year for my electives and there are tons of opportunities for me to act if I am interested in it. I am going to college after high school, probably Notre Dame or U of Michigan and maybe majoring in Business and minoring in film . I am planning on going to law school after college. If I decide to go with the lawyer career, I want to be a Senator. Or I was considering becoming a producer and then governor (like Ronald Reagan was an actor and then he became President.) There are stars like Peter Facinelli and Ashley Greene who didn't start acting until college and Cameron Diaz who auditioned for a part and got it with no acting experience and Harrison Ford started acting, wasn't making a lot of money acting, so he took of carpentry and then was hired to build George Lucas's cabinets, and then Lucas hired him for Star Wars. I also took a career test and it said either a producer or lawyer! (That was no help at all!) Also, I was looking at employment statistics, and it said for 2008, there were around 100,00 employed producers and 700,000 employed lawyers, but I won't be graduating college until 2017, so I don't know how much the statistics will change. What are my chances of becoming a producer in Hollywood? Can I have some advice? I have no idea what I want to do! Also, my mom said the reason she didn't go to law school was because of how hard it is to find a job as a lawyer and she isn't good at arguing. Also, I don't want to become a lawyer because I am really shy and my brother said that if I want to be a lawyer, I better get over my shyness and he said that I just want to work in the movie industry because I'm obsessed with a celebrity and it's "clouding my mind". I don't know what to do and my parents always make me feel bad! Also, my parents friend is a lawyer and she is having tax problems and paying her taxes etc. Also, my dad keeps saying "It's my job to make sure that you can support yourself and there is no money income in with movies" Also, I've always been they type of person who thinks "if someone else can do it, you can do it also, but better." moreResolved Question: Should i choose Early Childhood as my major?
I am a liberal arts major right now just aimlessly taking classes. Everybody is pressuring me to choose a major right now so i decided to give in. I am looking at early childhood but is there room for advancement with this degree? how is the salary if i were to work at a daycare? What are some good jobs i could get + around how much they make. Is this just a 2 year degree program or is there any way i can build off it? say adding psychology and becoming an early childhood psychologist? please help im so confused :) moreVoting Question: Discharge, Period, Pregnancy.. Oh my! What do you guys think?
How early can discharge take place during pregnancy? My periods usually come around the end of the month, around the 27th. I am 6 days late (I seriously have been stressing over the situation and school -- but idk if that's the reason)! I recently had unprotected sex 5 days before my (what should've been) period in July. My boyfriend DID NOT ejaculate around me nor did he ejaculate AT ALL! The problem is precum.. and I know that can also fertilize an egg. But since I was so close to my period & so far away from my previous period.. my chances at getting pregnant should be pretty low. Now remember that I am 6 days late, the thing is that in two days, total, I have discovered white discharge.. idk if this is a sign that I am pregnant or that I will be starting my period. To me it looks as normal as it always does. For some reason I DO think I am pregnant but everyone else doesn't seem to think so -- I think I could be overreacting also. If you do not have an answer to my question(s) then please do not waste my time, I also could careless about your opinions as far as the topic and how I chose to do this or that. Please help me out here!? Oh yeah. Do you guys think this is a sign of me being pregnant or about to come on my period? I am not understanding how my chances of being pregnant are HIGH when ovulation is around your previous period & we had sex weeks after my previous period.. I started stressing the WEEKEND of my period that just became late.. THEN my period was late. We had sex 5 DAYS before so! And I have been getting major pimples on my face (I rarely break out) -- could it just be stress? moreVoting Question: How can I spend less time being wishy washy with major decisions?
Small decisions I have no problem with. What to eat, wear, etc. I don't give a crap. I see people spending 25 minutes deciding what to order in a restaurant. That's not me. But bigger decisions, like choosing between jobs, deciding to go back to school, deciding whether to lease a place, etc. I absolutely AGONIZE over. I spend hours of a whole week sometimes just weighing the pros and cons and at the end after I make the decision, I'm still unsure. I spend so much time thinking about these decisions, it takes away from me getting stuff done. Does anybody else have this problem and what can I do to fix it? moreVoting Question: How would the world be different if the devastating Indian Ocean earthquake & tsunami of 2004 hadn't happened?

I want to study business in college/university. I will be staying at home, in terms of residence. I have a 10 inch netbook, a 17 inch laptop, and a desktop. Do i need another laptop? I mean, the only really portable computer i have is my netbook, is that enough? Thats the only laptop id consider bringing to school and back. If i do need another laptop, what size should i get? Thanks in Advance!!! moreVoting Question: how to choose career/ major?
I'm currently in my sophomore year of college and I'm still a little undeicided on my major. Right now my major is accounting. I want a good paying career so I can have a nice house and a nice sportscar, silly I know, but ever since I was little I've dreamed of having those two things. A lot of my friends are majoring in something they love, their passion. A lot of people say it is best to follow your passion and not the money. However, I'm not really sure what my passions are. Well, I know what my passions are but there isn't a major directly related to it. I love serving my country, I love working out and staying in shape (but I don't want to be a personal trainer), and I also love working hard and doing the best job I can. The harder I work, the better I feel about myself and my job. As long as I'm around interesting and fun people I've found I can be content with just about any job. Education wise, mathematics is my worst but favorite subject. I really struggle with it but I love it because it requires a ton of effort but I love the feeling I get when I finally solve a problem. I'm taking an economic class right now and I have a knack for it. It seems pretty simple to me but it's kind of boring. I also love politics, current events, and history. Career wise I think I would like to at least do a few years with the FBI, thats my main reason for majoring in accounting. After that, my career plans are blank. So how do you choose a career path/ major? moreResolved Question: How to know whether psychology is for me or not?

Just since the 90s has this major increase in sexual assault, objectifying, and demeaning behavior begun on a mass scale. A perfect example is the Laco ta Nation in South Dakota. 1 out of every 4 women is raped, most of the time by multiple men repeatedly, then beaten. This isn't just in the Laco ta tribal Nation people, this is world wide. Remember the 15 year old white girl who was raped by approximately 20 black and hispanic men? That was in California. Why on earth is our populace breeding this ignorance? I just saw this guy on here say...."like the blood that comes out of a girls ass 1/4 of the time" now if their is blood isn't that an indication that the body isn't meant to do that? I am not condemning anyone who chooses to do this with their body by free will, I'm talking about women who don't want to do this and are forced or coerced into it. So, I want to know how do we as a people stop this ignorance against women? Give me your opinions. moreResolved Question: I need some major advice. I have red/auburn hair and want to die it a medium/dark brown. Yes, brown.. not purple/green, etc. My mom's reasons why I cannot: - too young (I'm 14, by the way) - can't afford it (I offered to pay for it) - don't need to/unnecessary (she says I have "beautiful" hair) - she regrets coloring her hair when she was a teenager She has no idea how happy it would make me if I got my hair colored... I'm sorry if I come off like a spoiled brat, I'm anything but! She told me I'm "high maintenance", also, though I never ask for anything...? I'm a freshman in college and currently am an undecided major. I am debating between two majors right now; electrical engineering and film. I know that Electrical Engineering should be the obvious choice because there are more job opportunities in that field, and a job is basically assured after college. But then, I love film. I love movies. I enjoy making up my own stories, trying to create characters in my head. Write down some dialogue for them and imagine it playthrough. I always wonder what an audiences reaction would be like if I were to actually take a camera, get some actors, myself even, and MAKE some sort of short film. But I have never had the chance to due to lack of money and equipment. And now I am in college. I am an undecided major, so therefore I am not taking any film making class because people keep telling me that I won't be successful in it, and that it doesn't assure me a job. But I don't want to pass off the opportunity. I want to try it out. I will sign up for a film making class next semester because I really want to see how I do in something that I actually am interested in. Maybe I have a hidden talent and it needs to be pushed out, maybe I'll be successful. Who knows? But then, what if I am not? This is where I need help. Should I major in Electrical Engineering? I am OK at math and all that, but the idea that i'm going to have to DO mathwork annoys me and I don't find it appealing. I won't enjoy it and will not give it my all. However, I feel something when it comes to film. I feel that I could be good at it. But then there's the reality check that always comes to mind. Which do I choose? BTW!! I enjoy computers, I enjoy fixing things and working with my hands. I enjoy taking them apart and upgrading them. I do it, even without knowing, I learn and it sticks with me. Should I do something with that? What majors offer something like that? Also, Video Games. I love video games. I don't know about making them though, would it be fun to do? What major do I take to learn that? Please give me some advice. I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks. moreResolved Question: high school science teacher?

In the past week I have had two complete nervous breakdowns because of college related stress. My boyfriend and I recently moved into our first apartment, and we've paid all of our bills on time, had no issues that were very big until the fall semester started and within the first week not only did I have to dish out fifteen hundred dollars out of pocket because the university lost a paper that was required to verify class payment, now I'm finding out that I have signed up for a major VERY wrong for me. I've had two years college experience prior to transferring to my current university. I was at a community college and they were far more professional in dealing with financial matters. I'm going to have grey hair and I'm not even legal drinking age yet.. I chose to major in education to become an elementary teacher when I transferred because I had gotten all of my basics out of the way and I'm very comfortable dealing with young children, not to mention the recent recession had me thinking about jobs that don't normally suffer as much during fluctuations in the economy. Teaching has a great deal of financial security on top of guaranteed vacation time on top of benefits the only downside is the stress factor can be high and it's for a lower end pay. But if it's something I can build off of then it's worth it, or so I thought. I walk into my classes and come to find out that even my previous science major classes when I had been considering that field were far easier and less stressful than a writing intensive children's literature class. And I'm finding this really ironic and completely horrifying because my best subject has always been literature and English. I've never made less than an A in those classes. So the problem is now I know I need to change my major as not only am I incapable of taking fifteen hours of complete brain overload classes one of which being Spanish which I didn't want to take in the first place because I'm interested in other languages and hated it in high school. I've spent over two years trying to find out what I want to do for a career or even for a major. I've taken tests on the Internet, tests given by the school, I've searched the Internet, researched book stores, all-in-all gone to great effort to find ANYTHING that I might be interested in but anything I liked was immediately in the "get lucky" category as in you cannot make money in this job unless you have outstanding talent and charisma, both of which I lack--charisma considerably. I'm artistic, but I don't want to starve. Really it's becoming ridiculous and I'm going to college, wasting my hard earned money in the hopes that I can secure something that will keep me out of debt and then some in the future, but I'm kind of giving up unless I can find something. I love to draw so I considered some type of design, but if I become a designer I'm afraid I'll grow to hate the hobby I love now because I'll have someone above me, or a client who will say jump and I'll have to ask how high as that is the part they tend to leave out when telling you how wonderful and creative design jobs are. I want some direction yes, but I also want a lot of freedom if I'm using my creative skills in a job. Also I enjoy writing, but the same issue comes into play there too. I'm a huge video game fan and I think it might be a little fun to be a video game designer because it involves a story, visual, and audio art, but the university I'm attending doesn't offer it, and I can't go somewhere else because my boyfriend is going to school here and I have to consider him as well. (Of course he's thrilled because he's known exactly what he's wanted to do since he was five, be a wildlife biologist.) It isn't that I haven't thought about it, I've thought about what I want to do with my life since as long as I could remember, but every time I came to a conclusion I did a little research and in the end the cons outweighed the pros. Does anyone have any suggestions? My favorite things to do are clean, organize, draw, read, be early on all of our bills, crochet, create things in general. I just like to have low stress, it gives me a sense of acomplishment as apparently me being stressed out is increasing more and more. Like just now I'm sitting here typing this, heard a car run into something outside and am stressing that some ignorant first year student hit my car which is parked because it's happened before just last year when some idiot ripped the front bumper off of my parked car because they weren't paying attention. Anyway sorry if I sounded overly pessimistic, I'm just really stressed and I want to know if college is a waste of time and if I shouldn't just go to a tech school or something. If anyone has any potential career or major suggestions Not to be rude, but only give HELPFUL answers or just don't answer. I'm tired of sifting through spam (That carekorner crap is spam by the way. I just looked it up. They were already having issues with it on this site.) moreVoting Question: NEED MAJOR HELP downgrading from 4.0.2 to ios 4.0!!!?

I'll be a senior and won't have math or science, but I'm still extremely stressed about going back, which will be on Thursday.I've lost a fair amount of friends due to some stupid reasons (ex: they started hanging out with other people, got boyfriends, etc), and it's not easy to make friends at my school. I want to major in art, so I'll have 3 art classes this semester. However, when I went to get my schedule, it was all messed up and two were missing! My mom called last week (that's when they said they'd have it fixed by), and they told her I wouldn't see my schedule until the first day. One lady said it's harder to schedule art classes. One of the missing ones was independent, and with that they just put you in any class since you're on your own, so I really don't understand that. I had to get a sheet signed by my art teacher and I've got my concentration chosen (and I had to get art supplies), so I'll be very unhappy if they don't put that class on my schedule. I didn't talk to my friends much at all this summer, and I was the one who had to start most conversations. I don't know if any of them have lunch with me either since I don't have my schedule fixed. I hate that I won't have my freedom anymore and I really don't like the way people are in my school. I'm not joining any clubs since I've tried already, and none of them worked well with me. Another thing that freaks me out is the fact that by the end of the year I'll be graduating. I'm just really stressed over all this. What can I do to try to calm down? It's ruining my last days of summer! moreResolved Question: What should I study?--- I really need help!?
Before anything, thanks. I am stuck. I have no idea how the American education system is like. I go to an international school. Right now, I don't have any IB courses (or tests, whatever it is) because I don't know what they are and what will it do to me if I do take them. I am scared because most of my friends take some IB courses. Do I need it? What is it? My second dilemma is that I have absolutely no idea what I want to be when I grow up. I do know, however, that I like languages, fashion, cooking and cosmetics, psychology. To rank them in increasing order- cosmetics, fashion and cooking (I can't decide :p), psychology, languages. So far, I know my Bahasa Malaysia, English, some Swedish (I still can't speak good Swedish like before but with my Swedish friends now, I think I can get back on track), French (though I'm not too good at it- I can't speak like the French! I wish I can but their pronounciation is kind of hard!) =) I'll not let it stop me though! And now I'm starting to speak Castellano, a form of Spanish. I don't know what I should major in university. And what to become... I know it is hard for you to help me too but please try... Just choose one you think is best and list why. Thank you so so much!!! moreMore How To Choose A Major Results
