Open Question: Where can I find indi electro-pop music?
I'm looking for a place where independent artists in the electro pop genre (or really anything dance music like with lyrics) put up their music. Kind of like the newgrounds audio portal, I'm looking for a place where indi artists can put their work up on the web and also be contacted through that website. moreResolved Question: I need a song 1980 or earlier that describes how women are viewed in its lyrics. An example would be Independent Women by Destiny's Child, but that's after 1980 so I can't use it. The song has to depict an attitude or ideal about gender roles. Any ideas would be helpful! moreResolved Question: Do you like this rap(link and lyrics included)?

With the slow death of music these days, it seems that all the general public wants to hear is club bangers that don't have a whole lot to say. The most thought-provoking music seems to wander up from underground and independent bands that are barely getting any of the limelight and it makes me wonder: is this the end? Has the world transformed itself into a crowd pleasing organism that is so money hungry that the music industry has basically reduced itself to a limbless cow that cannot produce any milk? The way I see it, after Bono and Stevie Wonder (and the few other famous musicians out there that sing about something larger than someone's booty) have died, so will music. Which takes me back to my original question: in this world where money and sex sells over thoughtful lyrics, can there be another influential musician like John Lennon (or Bono or etc.) in the 21st century or the centuries to follow? There really is no right or wrong questions and I just want to know what you guys think! moreVoting Question: the song " Getcha Money Up" by keri hilson, keyshia cole & teyana?

I am looking for a short music video that an independent person created. I came across it online about 4 years ago. It contained an African American spiritual folk song (I can not remember the title and lyrics of the song). The lyrics of the song were depicted on a person's body with black ink. The depictions would appear and disappear with the song's progression. Behind the person's body was a black background. If this description sounds familiar to something that you have seen can you please provide with the link or further info about the video? Thank You moreVoting Question: what is the rap song with the bridge "heya, eya, eya eyaaaa"?
i heard it on the radio, it is very familiar, and old...the 90's i think, its a man singing about a fine, independent, styled woman, driving him mad. i think it also has a female rap part. very famous, drives me crazy that i can't remember any of the lyrics... it is not heya by outkast. it is not a light rap, it is more hardcore moreResolved Question: How should I write a song?
okay. i just want to say, to begin with, i am not asking for basic information. i've been in a band for ten years. i have been obsessively listening to music since the age of 3. i am primarily a drummer. but even as a drummer, i've had great instincts as to the direction of songs. when my band has written a song, i've often contributed a musical part, or idea, that has substantially improved the song. just for an example, my ideas often come from playing with the musical themes already in the song. i generally like to drastically change the second verse. possibly a tempo or speed change. we had a song around for years that didnt go too far, until one day we just happened to be jamming, and i suggested what we were doing would make a great intro to said song, which subsequently gave the song the appropriate spice, and made it a bit heavier. aside from that, i've been a writer of prose for a very long time. i play a bit of guitar, but i dont use a pick, and my ability is limited. i have been playing piano self taught for a couple of years. and here's where my problem begins. i am very confident i have what it takes to be a song writer. but i just can't seem to complete anything. i have a total slew of incomplete musical pieces that range from just a riff, or a 30 second piece, in some cases even up to a 2 minute piece. but i kind of have a "the chicken or the egg?" complex, and it mostly has to do with writing melodies. i have experience with writing melodies, as i have contributed a strong one or two to our songs. this usually came as a result of hearing the musical idea on the guitar with no melody, but being handed someone else's rough lyrics. i have also managed to make a strong melody out of previously written lyrics of my own, with the song already written. i've often wondered which should come first: the melody or the song? or what about the partial song? should the melody guide the song changes or vice versa? i believe a song should necessarily be organic, and ought to include as many dazzling changes as possible, so long as they hold the listeners interest and keep the song going. i believe a band should take a song, jam, and see what kind of strange, musical rule breaking things come as a result, and then add them in a useful manner. its usually not until that has occured that a song sounds complete to me. so let me restate my problem. along with my slew of small musical pieces, i have a slew of incomplete prose, or potential lyrics. i just can't seem to complete anything. i've tried lots of things, sort of. i've hypothesized that maybe what i ought to do is wait until the day that i complete a set of prose (hasn't happened) and then simply choose one of my pieces, and start finding a melody. i have a very hard time finding a melody for my pieces, because i'm very picky. i believe a good melody should usually be very independent of the rest of whats behind it. my fellow band members are pretty good at spitting out rough lyrics with a melody on the spot, as they write, and i seem to lack the ability to do that. i seem to need lyrics already written before i can make a cool melody that flows. in literally only a couple of cases, i DO actually have a melody, but no real lyrics. i also think it can be helpful to pay attention to only the drums when writing a melody. but therein lies another problem. i cannot imagine drums that interest me, when it comes to my own material. only straight forward beats. so i'm kind of hoping that anyone who has bothered to read all of this might have a sort of out of the box approach to song writing that i haven't thought of already. or even that i have thought of, but should further try. frankly i'd just like to hear from someone else who shares this problem. thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Okay guys...If your wife got you this for your anniversary...?
Its a song..well I wanna get him the CD because I really like this song..but Im not sure he would take it the right way...so your opinion guys? Sanctus Real - “Lead Me” I look around and see my wonderful life Almost perfect from the outside In picture frames I see my beautiful wife Always smiling But on the inside, I can hear her saying... “Lead me with strong hands Stand up when I can't Don't leave me hungry for love Chasing dreams, what about us? Show me you're willing to fight That I'm still the love of your life I know we call this our home But I still feel alone” I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes They're just children from the outside I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine They're in independent But on the inside, I can hear them saying... “Lead me with strong hands Stand up when I can't Don't leave me hungry for love Chasing dreams, but what about us? Show me you're willing to fight That I'm still the love of your life I know we call this our home But I still feel alone” So Father, give me the strength To be everything I'm called to be Oh, Father, show me the way To lead them Won't You lead me? To lead them with strong hands To stand up when they can't Don't want to leave them hungry for love, Chasing things that I could give up I'll show them I'm willing to fight And give them the best of my life So we can call this our home Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone He's also getting something else.... but normally we try to get something meaningful for each other and then also the things we want.... this is the meaningful one... my questions is does it send the message he isnt doing his job as a husband?lol... cuz thats not my intent...lol moreVoting Question: looking for a meaningful tattoo idea? help? Eminem?
My life has been crazy my parents divorced when I was 3 I have a twin sister,(19)brother and a little sister(10) my mom cheated on my dad everyday almost had an abortion with my sister and I. she does drugs she's in and out of prisons and jails for drugs and prostitution..and to be honest I don't give a damn what she does know...I don't want her in my life. I love my dad to death and I would take a bullet for him but I just want to be independent away from my family. I want life experiences.my mom has come back and gotten all of our(my siblings) hopes up and left again EVERY TIME. she stays for 6 months-1yr then leaves back to the streets with drugs and ****. she has been married 6 times. my little sister was kidnapped and brainwashed to hate everyone. she's back to normal now though. my dad was hit by lightning and well that was just a crazy event ....a whole other story. I guess this sorta turned into a rant about my mom but whatever. I want something that incorporates independence,a good future, eminem(maybe some lyrics of his?or something)- he's my favorite singer/rapper. getting out of a rough childhood coming into something better. leaving my problems behind(my mom) and crazy ****. I also want to incorporate something about my papa-I loved him so much, he died when I was 14. It was hard but some crazy stuff happened..too long to explain here but he let me know he was ok. something that symbolize that I'm taking a stand and I'm doing (whatever) for ME not for anyone else. I'm breaking out of this "cage" my family has been holding me back and in two more years I'll be 18 and gone. sorry this was all over the place lol I'm really tired :) moreResolved Question: Is this song any good?
I was bored so I wrote song lyrics. Be honest but nice. And tell me what you think the song means. Verse Imagination can only go so far And what's real or what's not is beyond Acting is an art you've perfected Considering your whole life's a play It's getting late, but you wait. You believe You're an optimist You're a fool Chorus Lie in bed Close our eyes Hold on to that pillow Its just a pillow So fool yourself and Make-believe That people believe in you Wake up in the morning Give everyone the usual They never ask You never have to say You're strong, independent, a positive-thinker You're lonely, but at least you're not betrayed (repeat chorus) Lie in bed Close our eyes Hold on to that pillow It's just a pillow Get that brush Sing your song Let nobody hear it They don't have to know moreResolved Question: Can I celebrate Canada's Independence Day, not just July 4th?
To celebrate it I want to take the Miley Cyrus song "Party in the USA" and write a Canadian sequel to the song called "Party in Canada Day" to be sung on Canada Day by Canadian pop singer "Justin Bieber!" On July 1st it's Canada Day....because on July 1, 1867 the British Parliament in London passed the "British North America Act" which stated that Canada could now govern itself without Britain! That's how Canada became a separate country eventhough they were loyal to the crown. But the July 1, 1867 is called "Canada Day" or Canada's National Day...it's not really Independence Day because Canada gradually became more and more independent of Britain over time, it didn't happen immediately. Would Americans help me with the Justin Bieber song? Canadians will love us. We can make the first verse in English, second verse in Quebec-French. and have some fellow Canadians fill in the lyrics. Conservatives can put a line in about how Canada is lucky not to be under Obama or something... and then you have line about how Canada's Hockey Team won in the end in the Olympics earlier this year.... I think we can do something with Canada with this Party on Canada Day parody song moreResolved Question: Advice me, how should I start my independent life?
I asked this question before too, but I got nothing but nagging and nobody understood me, so try to understand, please. (English isn't my first language). My is burning right now, I can feel how bridge to my future burns now, so I need to take a big jump .. The thing is I failed math exam, I really tried , but still I failed. I was thinking about to go to vocational school to get a job.. (but I don't know what is useful to learn, with no math) I actually know what I want, but that's something everybody wants... I'd love to become a rapper and an actor.. Dream about becoming a rapper isn't like because of fame, even if I really am ugly, there still would be these psycho fans chasing me,which would be bad, I guess. I wanna do it, because I wanna spread the word. I mean in school teacher had told me everyday that I have no future ( maybe it's lame, but I wanna show them that I have ). They've told so many mean things to me and without any reason... I don't like school, mainly because I have very bad teachers... They're making "jokes" that we're like that like we are due Chernobyl disaster's. Once manual training teacher attacked my classmate (really, there was almost no reason, he just wanted to talk to classmate and teacher attacked him) and we went to police and they did nothing.. I know that I am not alone, so I'd like to spread the word loudly and support people who are doing bad in school. I know a lot of people commit suicide due school, they know that they're worthless and they have no future... So I wanna support people with music, with lyrics.. I have to practice my English, I know... I have also a strong accent. Becoming an actor ( in movies:D ) would be because I have no friends, people had disliked me since I was small, for example when I was small, I went to some birthday with my mother and other kids told "Don't play with him!"and they offended me often. So, since when I was small, I've been a lonely kid, I am now too, I've gotten picked on in school a lot of times too. So I have problems with my self esteem, but good people in the internet are helping me. I only have some internet friends... Maybe it would be a good way to make friends and kind of hobby too, even I know acting in a movie isn't that fun, I mean you have to do same thing about 1000 times and it takes hours to save one clip, but still... If looks do matter (but there are a lot of ugly actors too, even in a porn movies) then my pictures are here: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=263092373&albumId=36980 Well... The thing is, I don't know where to start... I'd like to go to US/Canada, but I also wouldn't leave Europe... Where to start ?! I know it's a long and hard road to crawl, but soon I wanna fly. Thanks for taking time and giving an advice to me. moreVoting Question: Please help identify a song!!?
Heard this afternoon on a Boston independent radio station. It sounded acoustic, just voice and guitar, a young sounding female with a higher pitched voice. I tried to remember the key phrases but they aren't coming up on any search engines! What I remember most is: "Go ahead, fill your cup" or something similar about a cup, then later on .... "Don't say I'm yours and I will never say you're mine" and it ended with her repeating something like "We tried too hard, we shouldn't try so hard" a number of times. These lyrics aren't exact, I think I'm butchering them a little bit, so frustrating!! Does anyone know this song and/or who sings it? If so, thank you so much in advance, I'd love to know!! moreResolved Question: What do you think about these lyrics about me maturing mentally?
“Life Lessons” Well, hello, this is my song A song about life and things gone wrong Now don’t you let it happen to you Just learn from my mistakes and you’ll make it through I didn’t just screw up once or twice I ruined too much, but that is life It’s not my future, but the time at hand And I’ll sing about it in my rockin’ band So here’s the tale about my tell It keeps on gettin’ hotter in my personal hell So sit down and listen to me The story’s gonna start in one, two, three (So you) so you think you know me You barely (barely) even scratched the surface (Whoa-oh) So if you wanna stop guessin’ (guessin’) Sit down and listen to my life lessons Ever since the day I was young I was raised stupid and way too wrong I never realized these lessons weren’t true Until high school was ‘bout halfway through I don’t believe it happened too late There was a girl who set things straight Brought me up to send me crashing down My heart was bruised, but I would rebound She taught me things that I could do Things deep inside and the feelings were true No one will love her quite like me But she led me to my maturity Standing up and getting kicked in the sac Rolling with all the punches, but I would be back Was losing so many of my friends worth having you? I didn’t think of you for sex like my dad told me to And I really thought that I loved you But love to me, was still too new I loved the person that I thought you were But you took off your mask and you weren’t her During the course of these shaping events I figured out things and became less dense I became comfortable with who I am But I’m the only one who’s ever given a d*mn (So you) so you think you know me You barely (barely) even scratched the surface (Whoa-oh) So if you wanna stop guessin’ (guessin’) Sit down and listen to my life lessons I was brainwashed, but now I’m free I shout to the heavens, “I’m a brand new me” You can’t control me anymore So go to hell with your abhor I’m independent and deistic And I can’t help if I’m a little sadistic I’ve got a forceful personality And I know that it’s gonna bury me I’m too protective of the ones I love I’m ticked off, and I’m ready for a shove Kick me, punch me and knock me down And I will get up ‘cause I own this town Me and my friends were offended And my loved ones, I defended Which is why I lost another one The fat lady has never sung I am a pacifist with a short fuse So don’t mess with me ‘cause you’re gonna lose There is a revolution on the way To pull your head out so you can see the light of day Life is too short not to live So if you’re listenin’ to the advice I give You’re not gonna be doin’ much of livin’ Livin’ life is a life of sinnin’ My call to action is takin’ a toll But now I’m with someone who makes me feel whole You see me, and be sure not to mess It’s my cyanide and happiness (So you) so you think you know me You barely (barely) even scratched the surface (Whoa-oh) So if you wanna stop guessin’ (guessin’) Sit down and listen to my life lessons Oh yeah! [Simultaneous Guitar and Bass solo] So you (so you think you know me) (You barely) barely (even scratched the surface) Whoa-oh (So if you wanna stop guessin’) guessin’ (Sit down and listen to my life lessons) (So you) so you think you know me You barely (barely) even scratched the surface (Whoa-oh) So if you wanna stop guessin’ (guessin’) Sit down and listen to my Life lessons My life lessons Sit down and listen to my life lessons Life lessons These are my life lessons Sit down and listen to my life (So you) so you think know me You barely (barely) even scratched the surface (Whoa-oh) So if you wanna stop guessin’ (guessin’) Sit down and listen to my life lessons moreResolved Question: Rate these lyrics :)?
Only you See I could go on by myself and make a beautiful life in this messed up world but boy you got me curled all around you, I can't stop thinking about you I can see the view when Im with you baby o baby And I say oh lord, make this boy fall in love with me again, make my dreams turn into reality cuz o he just makes my life seem totality he is my vitality. I seen how I do in life without you I know I regret letting you go because you showed me the other side of life that I never learn to find. But how could I have let you fly out of my life how come all the time I just pretended to be happy but than I realized I was unhappy There you go There you are When My life is falling apart I find you Only you baby Only you baby only you baby (X2 repeats) I couldn't say I was sorry, cause sorry doesn't fix anything Once a mistake has been made, it doesn't fade away quickly from somebody's mind from somebody's heart. The day that you left, there was a cleft on my heart I can be independent and resplendent, but that doesn't me buy your love There you go There you are When My life is falling apart I find you Only you baby Only you baby only you baby (X2 repeats) Yes I did write this, and it took me only 3 or 5 min to think of it lol I have a passion for writing music but its not something that I will do as a career.. So I have a bad bad problem going on. Guys keep falling in love with me after meeting me ONCE. With multiple guys trying to date me at the same time, it always just ends with them fighting over me and me having to choose one over the other. I'm frankly sick of it and would rather be free and just hang out with my friends for now. I'm about to turn 19 in a week, still quite young. Right now, there are at least five guys that I know of that like me. Two of them are best friends and are fighting over me. One of those friends (who lives two hours away) is driving to come see me in a week and cook for me. Most girls would love that, but i'm really independent and don't. What are some song lyrics or quotes about not wanting a man right now, or about being independent? Thanks! moreResolved Question: What words can be used to describe an eagle?

*I'm 17 years old. *I'm extremly quiet, usually even around good friends. Often I don't know how to respond when people talk to me. The bigger the crowd, the quieter I'll be. *I've had self esteem issues for a long time (as far back as 5 years old). I've gained more confidence in my personality over time, though I still doubt myself in some things. *I'm an overall good student, but a lot of the material seems to come naturally to me. *I love overcast weather, I prefer to listen to downbeat music with personal lyrics, I'm very introverted (energized by being all alone, but drained by socializing), and I prefer colours like blue or purple to yellow or orange. *I'm a very moody person inside, but my emotions are never extreme. *I am extremely independent, but honest and loyal. I also like to consider myself moderately smart. *I may not be the type that loves being touched all the time, but I really love hugs. Sometimes I blush when I get hugged, especially if it's a guy or if I wasn't expecting it. I would really love to cuddle with somebody. *Appearance-wise, I have very dark hair, green eyes, a light complexion. Grunge the subculture movement Remember a time when Nirvana, flannel and Seattle was cool, that time was better known as the Grunge era. Music spewed out of Seattle like a waterfall in the 90’s and into American pop culture. The very word grunge in essence means trash, sludge, or grime. This “Seattle Sound” was known by the dirty, heavy guitar riffs that many of the bands trademarked. It was also distinguished by iconic rock stars such as Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, and various others. Grunge was in, and Seattle would be known as the music capital, and all the world would hear its sound..The Grunge Era in rock heavily influenced the music industry, and fashion of American society. The Grunge sound was now blaring on radio stations with successful bands such as Nirvana, and Pearl Jam at the top of the list. Emerging from Seattle the local bands there did not expect to be signed to any major record labels. Seattle endorsed mostly grunge music which originated from Alternative music that was developed in the 60’s to counter the pop in mainstream music. Although Seattle didn’t have many major record label companies it did promote music with Independent Labels such as Sub Pop. Sub Pop released a three-boxed set called Sub Pop 200, without this highly influential boxed set the sounds from Nirvana, and Soundgarden wouldn’t have even been heard throughout the world. Seattle entirely revolutionized the playing field for the music industry. Great bands would no longer have to play in the few confined centers like New York, or Los Angeles to get noticed. Seattle showed the music industry that there’s a scene going on everywhere even in the backwater places no one knows about, all you really have to do is look (Bell). The pure force of Seattle Grunge bands was so powerful that it provided a economic market of its own. Seattle was a haven for Alternative Rock. Music became such a large proportion of the economy that out of the one hundred, and forty dollars ten billion dollars a year that Generation X would spend, ten billion dollars of it would go to the music industry. The seven best Seattle band’s record companies profited with over two hundred million dollars in gross revenue from the sales of their albums (Bell 2). The almost unheard of Nirvana were getting more airtime from radio stations, would go on to sell four million albums in early 1991 with their hit album Nevermind. Pearl Jam would also come to sell four million by the end of the year with their album Ten (Freind 2). In a sense it was Nirvana mania Jack Endino implies this perfectly when he states “92 was the year Nirvana knocked Michal Jackson off the charts…Soundgarden was doing better… It was suddenly the cover of ------ Time magazine” (Heylin). With every genre of music there is a common theme. The Seattle Sound is directly uniform with the youth culture in the area (Bell). No one say it better than Duff McKagen bassist for Guns n’ Roses when he states “You gotta understand Seattle, it’s grungy, people are into rock and roll, and they’re building airplanes all the time, there’s a lot of noise, and there’s rain and musty garages. Musty garages create a certain noise” (Azerrad). By 1992 Nirvanas Nevermind was number one on Billboard’s pop album chart (Marin). Nirvanas song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in the Nevermind album also became the anthem of every anguished teen of the era with its catchy riffs, and depressing weary lyrics (Freind). “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was so popular that it was constantly running four or five times a day on MTV, and was put into its Buzz Bin in September 1991(Marin). College age students and other members of Generation X related to this music as it was a time when they were looking for a sense of belonging, and self identity, of which they had found through grunge music (Bell). Few individuals were as talented, and influential for grunge music as Kurt Cobain. Although not the original founders of grunge music Kurt Cobain, and his band Nirvana where credited as announcing to the world that’s it’s the end of one era, and the beginning of another. Although Cobain never intended to become the generation’s spokesman, he wasn’t given a choice. He came from a time of greed, designer drugs, and image-driven celebrities, otherwise known as the 80’s. He didn’t want to be a hero, but people were willing to accept anyone they felt was real. The public reacted to his sound, and loved it, even while he was struggling with fame, drugs, and his identity he still captured his generations through his music (DeCurtis). Other Seattle bands owe a dept to Nirvana without their financial success Sub Pop would have gone bankrupt, and wouldn’t have been able to sign other grunge bands (Bell). Cobain’s song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was one of the defining moments in rock history it was a scream of rebellion, alienation, and rejection of societies commercialism from the youth culture of the day. In many ways it was Nirvana who broug brought grunge to the mainstream, their success marked the end of the 80’s, and the beginning of the 90’s. Cobain’s last words in his suicide note echoed “It’s better to burn out than to fade away”. (DeCurtis) Seattle wasn’t just known for its music, it was also characterized by the fashion that originated from the region. Seattle drew in the youth of the area, and was conveyed as “The biggest town in the middle of a large nowhere” by Alden and Gilbert. Originally people would wear flannel, and Doc Marten boots to demonstrate against the fashion industry, it was an anti-fashion protest against the fake flashy style that the 80’s was known for.(Bell) People didn’t just start to randomly dressing up as lumber jacks with their flannel shirts , and leatherettes. Flannel shirts were worn as a safeguard against the Pacific Northwest climate(Marin). The black noise sound and smelly caveman look became vastly fashionable. Before you knew it everyone was wearing flannel. Designers saw their Designers saw their opportunity to profit from the grunge scene, and so this marked the beginning of the end for the grunge movement. (Bell) Soon it became a fashion statement to wear clothes that look like they were bought from Goodwill or worn as a hand-me-down from an older sibling. The anti-fashion protest had back fired on itself; the clothes that they wore were so publicized by the media, that it became an insult to the very music that inspired it. Models would be strutting in ski caps, combat boots, and dirty hair in fashion shows. Stylists were even being asked by young models to make their beautiful hair look a little bit greasier. It takes only one season to steal styles, and put it in the runway, but it takes about three years to see it at a store. Grunge however was different it was already at the store, and it was even on sale at Kmart, and the Salvation Army. Grunge became an easy target for designers, and commercialism. Just as grunge music had sold well to the public so had grunge apparel, rich teens that were to proud to shop at the very place grunge fashion started the local Goodwill, would purchase overpriced commercialized clothes in shopping malls. There they would be buying a pair of purposely ripped jeans for 150$, and intentionally faded, and fringed flannel shirts for 65$. The former point to grunge fashion was to wear things that were cheap and looked cheap this purpose was destroyed by commercialism. A couple of years back, when Lily wrote a "Cheryl Cole" song, which Cheryl thought was a nice gesture and then Lily said those lyrics was not meant as a nice gesture. Recently lyrics have been seen as the one thing that makes a good song. People only seem to care about what the lyrics say and how they rhyme. I'm gonna go ahead and blame modern rap for this first of al but not all rap because I've heard some very creative and musical rap. I agree that in pop music that being able to have the rhyming and rhythmic structure of words can make something unique. But if you want amazing words put together into art then you should be reading poetry and not trying to be a musician. Music should first be about the chords, melody, harmony, and the structure of rhythm to keep it together. The most brilliant music ever created didn't feel the need to put words with music and it didn't need it. Words are unique but finding the right notes and chords is what makes a song a song. I guess people like that kind of stuff but I like my music a little complex and with actual music that strives to be something new and that sounds good. Sure anybody can put a few chords together and make a pop song, that's obvious but its finding new sounds and new combinations that really makes music great. Putting a bunch of words together and rhyming ignoring music for the most part doesn't seem right. I'm not really talking just about rap here, I'm talking about the mainstream in general. All these pop artists have this generic beat with stupid nursery rhyme lyrics and these overused chords with a hacked melody. Then next thing you know it's on every radio station, on the top of the charts, and it's the most popular song in the world and they're making millions off of it. It's just wrong and I hate to sound old but in the the past the industry wasn't even this bad. They let creativity come through (somewhat), now it's just a bunch of guys trying to figure out what's going to make the most money. The industry has always been about making money but the real musicians with actual ability were the ones doing it. Sorry to rant but I feel strongly about this and I believe it's time for a change. So stop following everybody else and think for yourself about what music really should be. Support the real artists and all of those independent musicians struggling to keep making music. The companies will rethink what they are shoving down the peoples throats trying to call music. If you read through this entire thing then you have my respect but if you didn't then I don't blame you. Just to be clear I love great lyrics and they make a song much better. But lyrics by themselves do not make a great song. moreResolved Question: what song are these lyrics to?
the lyrics went something like "crashing through this canyon". it was a slow-ish, acoustic song, with a woman singing. the song was really nice (to me at least) but i cant seem to find it anywhere, or any lyrics on the net to match, which makes me wonder whether it was an independent artist. let me know please if you know the song, and if you could send it or where i can get it from. moreResolved Question: Artists who are never noticed?
So, I've been listening to a lot of music nowadays of artist who seem to never have either any radio airplay or have never been heard of by the public. People might call them "underground artist", "Independent artist", or just might see those kind of artist as being unskilled and such due to not having any public notice of their talents. This goes for any genre of music, from hip-hop to even country maybe, does anyone feel like artist who are unappreciated should get more airplay and notice from their musical talents? The music we hear on the radio can be good at times, but it's mostly subjective. But, when I do listen to the music on the radio with the same artist having repeated airplays of their songs, the lyrics just seem either degrading or never even fit the whole theme of the song from their title of the song. It's like people will enjoy the music just for the catchy beats or voice of the artist, but I always wonder if anyone REALLY listens to the song and what they say or really mean. To me, artist who are mostly independent always have a strong message and theme to their songs which are beautiful, real life issues, philosophical, etc. but I never see that a lot to music that is "mainstream" (hate using that term). Do you guys feel the same way with music at all? I mean, a lot of genres of music have started out as ways for party songs, but they have improved over years for newer artists to build on and contribute to music, just seems like a lot of what I hear today is just rehashes of music that a lot of artist aren't improving on and are just emulating, and when you take a look at the artist who a looked down upon, they are contributing something to that genre of music to improve on (some artist who are well-known have also contributed, but nowadays it's hard to find those artists who are trying to keep away from emulating so much). Kinda asking a lot from this question, but it's always been on my mind. Whoops, didn't know I had some spelling errors, my apologies. moreResolved Question: What song is this?
