Zimbabwe could end Pakistan's status as a no-go cricket zone after offering to tour the strife-torn and flood-devastated nation, officials said on Friday. The tour is loosely scheduled for later this year, probably during November and early December, and could be a series of ODIs and Twenty20 matches as decided by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Much depends, though, on a satisfactory security check and report beforehand, which will dictate whether the Zimbabweans actually go. The Zimbabwe players have not yet been sounded out on whether they are prepared to play in Pakistan, given its recent history of violence, but convenor of selectors Alistair Campbell told AFP he was confident the majority would be willing. "Nobody will be pressured to go if they decline," he said. Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Ozias Bvute said the idea of touring Pakistan, which has been off-limits because of the country's deteriorating situation, emerged several weeks ago. But the offer was developed into a fund raising effort designed to help the millions of flood victims. "It's become a gesture of help," he said. Bvute added that the Pakistan cricket authorities, currently engulfed by the spot-fixing scandal in England, have welcomed the idea. Pakistan are due to tour New Zealand towards the end of the year so that schedules may need to be worked out to accommodate the Zimbabwe series. Meanwhile Zimbabwe are smarting over the British government's advice to Scotland that they should not travel to Harare for their Inter-Continental Cup fixture in October. Campbell said: "We have 10 Englishmen playing cricket and coaching in Zimbabwe, including our national coach Alan Butcher, and apart from anything else the decision is an insult to them." But in a cautiously worded statement Bvute said that sport was a great healer and "strained relations will eventually be restored for the common good". Those strained relations are primarily with England, Australia and New Zealand, while Zimbabwe gets its main (and majority) support from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and to some extent South Africa and West Indies, helping to maintain their status as a full ICC member. After consultations with the International Cricket Council and with Indian and Sri Lankan authorities in June during a triangular series, it was agreed that Zimbabwe could make a return to Test cricket next May or June. A new movie for Superstar Rajnikanth is going to be released staring Rajnikanth and Aishvary Rai called Robot. Many years back when I was touring Cheanni, a movie with named "Padyappa" or something like that was being released, and remember people praying posters of Rajnikanth, they were poring milk on movie posters, cracking coconut in front of posters, offering garlands, entire traffic was jam, I travel across India, but I have not seen such mass hysteria anywhere else for any other movie star. May be some extend Chiranjeevee has fan following to similar extend in AP but I don't think to same extend. I don't think Superstar of Hindi Cinema has such mass following for him any where in India including his own city, and he never had even during his best days. Even today, Rajnikanth has over 100 registered fans club in India and Amitabh has only 20. At one time Rajnikanth and Kamal Hasan had completion but today, as far as name and fame is concerned, Rajnikanth is undisputed superstar of Tamil cinema. Rajanikanth is not a politician but often gives political statements that have impact, he is not a spiritual leader but sometimes gives spiritual statements and people pay attention to that. He is a real entertainer, but his most of the movies are entertaining only, unlike Kamal Hasan where he has art, or Amitabh's Paa or Black where he does experiments, still Rajnikanth is THE HERO. What is the reason for such mass fan following for Mr. Rajnikanth, the undisputed superstar of Tamil cinema, who leads in fan following to any superstar of India including Amitabh Bachhan the superstar of the millennium? Raj Kish Sir, while opening this question, I had Bull sir's avatar in my mind :), I was expecting him to write a an elaborate answer on this subject, and I was expecting me to select his answer as a best answer, I had made up my mind before even opening the question that Mr. Bull is my BA candidate for this question :) But Mr. Bull does not give me opportunity. Just a joke guys, don't take seriously... I have not said Rajnikanth is a better actor than others, like in Hindi Cinema, AB is not better actor than Om Puri or Nasiruddin Shah though he is better entertainer. The number of tourists coming to India has been growing, but so too are complaints. "I think Indian men treat Western women a lot differently then they treat Indian women. "We are not the agency which can reign in people, but we are working with authorities to sensitise people including scooter and taxi drivers," said Tourism Minister Kumari Shelja. me and my sister are going to Israel and would like to do some more traveling after its over. We have about two weeks. We prefer roughing it and spending at a minimum but we still want to be safe. We really don't have a clue about that part of the world though I have spent three months in Varanasi India so I have some experience in a third world country and being modest and respectful of others customs. I love to dance and explore. We also like to see art. We don't want to be the tourist trail, especially after what we expect to be something of a cattle tour on the birthright trip, (a fun cattle tour). My sister was curious about the transsiberian railroad and mongolia. The idea being that we sleep on the train and thereby avoid hotel bills. She likes to photograph landscapes. I on the other hand think that this would be extremely boring and that we would be dying to get off the train after a few days. (we have no idea how much it costs or how far it is from israel, feel free to fill us in) we don't speak a word of hebrew or arabic. I would really love to see middle eastern dance traditions and even am considering looking for a salsa or zouk class to take while I am in a city as I hear it has caught on there. So, any suggestions? anything at all? we are open to spending a little, how much would it be to go from Isreal to India, or Egypt? So, I'm looking for a CUSTOMIZABLE PACKAGE DEAL from a reliable company (ie, they take care of the booking the driver and the hotels and we both determine the itinerary). I would like it to include Ooty and travel in the Blue Mountain Railway, and Sri Meenakshi Temple and POSSIBLY go all the way across the state to see Pondicherry. Wanting to leave at the end of November (not this year) and I know where I want to go: All of Asia (including India), Europe, and South America/Central America (Including the islands). + Morocco, Egypt, and Dubai. What I’m unsure of though is how long I will need in each continent and country (Keeping in mind I have to do this all in one year unfortunately - due to rtw ticket conditions). What are the best ways to get around in each continent? I'd like to do a bit of independent travelling as well as tour group travelling... I get around 16 flights and can go to all continents. I planned to go to Kochi in April. Got some organised tours arranged so at least I am covered for sight seeing and where to stay. Will be doing some backwaters tours as well. what I would like to know is: 1) Is communication going to be an issue? It is often said that English is widely spoken, but in real terms, say, if I just want to go to a local supermarket to get some toothpaste and buy a few bottles of water, would there be a problem? 2) using atms and exchanging travellers cheques. Anything I need to know? Are there exchange places readily available or do I have to go to a bank? 3) While I am careful about scams and personal safety, are there any tips I should know that may be specific to travelling in India? (eg - only used a certain type of taxi? What about public transport? Do people approach foreign tourist on the street trying to sell stuff ? etc?) 4 - any particular customs I should be aware of (eg - taking photos of buildings, of people? Any tips about local law enforcement? are there tourist police? Are the police trustworthy?) I do have a copy of the Lonely planet guide, but I am also trying to find out as much as I can from other sources about travelling to India for the first and on my own. Resolved Question: Biggest Heavy Metal Band in the World: Iron Maiden or Metallica?

I was wondering the other day which is the most popular and well-known metal band. Metallica is supposedly "the biggest heavy metal band in the world", which isn't hard to believe, considering they have sold millions of albums and have sold out most of their shows, and have many many fans worldwide (Me being one of them!) But there's also Iron Maiden (which I am also a fan of) which I think is really the biggest heavy metal band, for many reasons. Some of them being that they are the most known NWOBHM band (them or Judas Priest...or Motorhead), they also sell out most of their shows, sell a ton of merch and millions of albums. They also travel across the globe in their tours, reaching all corners of the world such as Japan, Argentina, Mexico, India (not just UK and US), etc. They have faithful fans everywhere like Metallica. Their situations are similar (except that Iron Maiden has been around a longer while) so I think it's very close, but I think Iron Maiden is the biggest heavy metal band out there. What do you guys think? more

I am planning a trip for my parents. They live in Mumbai, India, and want to do a spot of site seeing in Europe in Oct sometime this year, 2010 before heading to the USA (Phoenix, AZ). Can you recommend some places to go? They have friends in Vienna, and London, and can stay with them. So these places automatically go on the list! Where else is recommended? Paris maybe? Sweden/ Switzerland/ any others? They are both vegetarians, speak fluent English (no Spanish/ french/ etc though). They'd like to relax, see some beautiful places, spend a few days in each place, and head to the USA (AZ) to visit us sometime in Nov/ Dec '10. Can you pl recommend a travel plan from your experience? Also, what could be a good sequence to follow starting from Mumbai, ending at Phx, AZ? How long would you recommend in each place in Europe? Since I was a child, my parents always wanted me to become an engineer by enrolling me in English high school. However, I India where I lived there were no English schools. When I was four years old I was enrolled in Gujarati School which was a local language school. After two years, my parents moved to Bombay because of lack of business and for my education. I was enrolled in English school from grade second in Bombay. As I was a small kid, I started learning new things and liked doing different things like painting, craft, sports but I disliked English language even though fellow students giggled at me. I always had problems understanding grammar and never got good marks in English. My teacher always called my parents complaining about my poor grades and bad performance in school. My father never shouted at me even though I was bad in studies but he always used to tell me that one day I will realized how important English language is. As time went by, I finished my grade tenth but didn't’t get good marks so I dropped from my school without finishing grade 12th. My father was angry but didn't’t say anything. I started helping my father in his business since I was out of school. For almost eight years I helped my father in his business but for some reason my father had to close down the business. After the closing down the business I didn't’t had anything to do so i started looking for job but never got one. Everywhere I went the employer wanted a college graduate which I was not. As I was 24 year old I started realizing how big mistake I did by not studying English and not finishing my studies but it was too late. In India once you are twenty you cannot finish your high school. I had to compromise with my life and I started working in a small company and the salary was not so grate. Nothing looked grate in my life and was loosing my confidence. Luckily, I was hired by a travel agency as a tour guide, taking the travellers to Dubai for their vacation trip but even there English was required which I was not proficient. While on my trip I met a girl who was from London. We became friends and got married. She sponsored me and I went to London. The reason behind going to a new country was because for my studies hoping one day I will finish my qualification and live a good life. But it was not an easy task. Even after four years studying was not an easy task especial English. Learning English language was a tough job for me. Teachers were excellent and new their stuff but I did not know any of the words or their meanings. I left the class with a miserable feeling that I had never felt before. I'm budgeting a trip for South America, though also considering Japan and South East Asia, and wanting to compare my travels to other people's in terms of budgeting. Last time I went to India it cost £4000 for three of us together, but that was for a month and NOT living on a budget, ie. staying in good hotels and doing tours etc. I realize I could, and will again easily do a much cheaper trip, as I'm less scared about eating cheap food and staying in hostels/going on dodgy trains/buses etc. I'm planning to go for 2 months to Peru and Brazil, wanting to see the amazon, rio de janeiro, go on the inca trail, and see some places like el salvador, quito, manaus, ihrs Grandes. On october 30 we have booked a taxi from Pitam Pura to Saket and paid this company Rs 500 in advance The Day and time of the travel is 5:30 evening 1 Nov. At 5:45 we contacted him why the taxi not reached he gave us the telephone of driver. When the driver connected he told us that he is in Dhaula Kuan and given a telephone No. of his taxi owner who is setuatated in near Airport. Now he told us that I ranged your Tel twice and it was busy at that time and I have to conform that will you pay for route from airport to pitampura and then to saket and back to pitam pura and then back to his station Airport. The distance between pitam pura to airport is to be bear by us when we booking aur taxi at Jhalak Tour & Travels pitam pura which is hardly a kilometer from our place. We arranged other mode of travel as driver had to take an hour to reach Dhaula Kuan to pitam pura.The next day when we contact Jhalak Tour & Travels the croock said the taxi was sent to saket in place of pitam pura by mistake at 4:30 only. We even had given no address of saket.And also that the driver started to aur place from dhaula kuna and returned so Jhalak Tour & Travels paid him 1200 so insted of asking us the refund of Rs500 give me the balance of 700. more
