Resolved Question: Is diversity really all its cracked up to be?
I'm referring to cultural diversity in a nation, of course. Is it really all that desirable? When you look at it, it doesn't seem to be. The only nation with a high level of diversity which tops the world is the USA. Most European nations achieved and then maintained their success with more homogeneous populations compared with many Asian and South American nations. Granted, it was built on exploitation, but they've stayed pretty well afterwards as well and now they're struggling with its difficulties as their populations are becoming steadily more diverse. Even America has major problems with its own diversity. Japan and South Korea are similarly homogeneous. Other nations like India have major difficulties with it. Compare India, America to Sweden, Germany and South Korea, recession notwithstanding(that has little to do with cultural diversity). It seems more homogeneous populations are, on the whole, easier to manage and easier to develop. Tourism is the only industry which stands to gain out of diversity and even there many European nations score pretty well. Europe comes up with innovative ideas and philosophical concepts too. Most Western philosophy originated there. So why would we want to have a diverse population? Do you think we should be celebrating cultural diversity as much as we do or not? If yes, then why? Note:I know diversity is inevitable. I'm not saying we can stop it. I'm wondering why we celebrate it. moreOpen Question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in south india?

My girlfriend is from Chandigarh, India. We met at college in Northwest Indiana after her parents sent her here on a student visa. The student visa will expire in mid-December, and by that time she will need a full-time job in something that has to do with her degree (no McDonalds, etc.) She has a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Airlines, and Tourism and a Master's in International Commerce and Policy (ICP). As her boyfriend, I am just as desperate as she is to get interviews and help her find a job with ANY position she can get to stay in the U.S. I know how these visas work, and that there are costs for the employer that can range from $1000 to $2000 for the government application, but she is willing to take that much of a paycut if it means staying in the U.S. I know the situation seems desperate, but quite frankly, it is. We are hoping to get married in the future, and we want to do it the right way and not be rushed into a marriage just for the sake of her staying in the U.S. Plus, I want her parents to feel comfortable with me as well, which will take time. A belief that Jesus survived the crucifixion and spent his remaining years in Kashmir has led to a run-down shrine in Srinagar making it firmly onto the must-visit-in India tourist trail. Rozabal shrine, Srinagar Jesus is reputed to be buried in this run-down shrine in the Kashmir capital In the backstreets of downtown Srinagar is an old building known as the Rozabal shrine. It's in a part of the city where the Indian security forces are on regular patrol, or peering out from behind check-posts made of sandbags. There are still occasional clashes with militants or stone-throwing children, but the security situation has improved in recent times and the tourists are returning. When I first searched for Rozabal two years ago, the taxi circled around a minor Muslim tomb in a city of many mosques and mausoleums, the driver asking directions several times before we found it. The shrine, on a street corner, is a modest stone building with a traditional Kashmiri multi-tiered sloping roof. A watchman led me in and encouraged me to inspect the smaller wooden chamber within, with its trellis-like, perforated screen. Through the gaps I could see a gravestone covered with a green cloth. When I returned to the shrine recently though, it was shut - its gate padlocked because it had attracted too many visitors. The reason? Well, according to an eclectic combination of New Age Christians, unorthodox Muslims and fans of the Da Vinci Code, the grave contains the mortal remains of a candidate for the most important visitor of all time to India. 'Crazy professor' Officially, the tomb is the burial site of Youza Asaph, a medieval Muslim preacher - but a growing number of people believe that it is in fact the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth. Map showing location of Srinagar They believe that Jesus survived the crucifixion almost 2,000 Easters ago, and went to live out his days in Kashmir. "What else could they do? They had to close it," Riaz told me. His family home almost overlooks the shrine, and he is witheringly dismissive of the notion that Jesus was buried there. "It's a story spread by local shopkeepers, just because some crazy professor said it was Jesus's tomb. They thought it would be good for business. Tourists would come, after all these years of violence. "And then it got into the Lonely Planet, and too many people started coming. "And one foreigner…" he gave me an apologetic look, "broke off a bit from the tomb to take home with him. So that's why it's closed now." On cue, a couple of unwashed and exhausted Australians appeared, carrying the latest edition of the Lonely Planet travel guide to India, which, sure enough, carried the tale of Jesus's tomb, with some caveats about crackpots and blasphemy. They asked me to take a photo of them outside the shrine - but were not desperately disappointed that it was closed. The tomb of Jesus was just another place to tick off on their tourist-in-India must-visit list. Famous meeting Buddhist monastery, Srinagar The remains of a Buddhist monastery which some believe Jesus visited The ruins of a Buddhist monastery in a spectacular location halfway up a mountainside north of Srinagar are not, yet, mentioned in the Lonely Planet. It's a spot that I had previously been unable to visit, because as a senior police officer told me, it was "infested with terrorists". But the watchman now seemed prepared for the arrival of mass tourism, with his 50 words of English, and his hidden stock of ancient terracotta tiles for sale. He informed me that Jesus was among the religious leaders who attended a famous Buddhist meeting here in AD80, and even pointed to the place where he sat. The stories of Jesus in India are not just aimed at gullible tourists - they date back to the 19th Century. They were part of attempts to explain the striking similarities between Christianity and Buddhism, a matter of great concern to 19th Century scholars - and also a desire among some Christians to root the story of Jesus in Indian soil. Missing years There is talk of the missing years of Jesus, unmentioned in the gospels, when he was between the ages of 12 and 30. Woman kisses statuette of Jesus, in Srinagar Cathedral Christians form a little more than 2% of India's population Some say he was in India, picking up Buddhist ideas. These aren't notions that have entirely died out. The US-based Christian sect, known as the Church Universal and Triumphant, is the best-known modern supporter of the belief that Jesus lived in Kashmir, though they don't believe he died there. And in Islam, in which Jesus is the penultimate prophet, there is also a minority tradition adopted by the controversial Ahmeddiya sect, that Rozabal does contain the grave of Jesus. Professional historians tend to laugh out loud when you mention the notion that Jesus might have lived in Kashmir - but his tomb is now firmly on the tourist trai What do you think of this? moreResolved Question: Arab sex tourism in India?
for those who don't know abt the now long-established sex tourism biz in India, pls see the following link: http://www.danielpipes.org/3022/arabian-sex-tourism. Those petro-dollar rich Arabs who are indulging in such crimes must be somehow severely punished. They should be detained in jails for at least 5 years and must pay a huge sums as fine and penalty. These fines should be spent to educate young Indian girls so that they can have skills to make honest livelihood in a moral way. Of course these sex fiends have destroyed the life of a young and innocent girl while on a vacation. When they come to India, their activities shld be under surveillance and noted. how come the Indian polity and media are silent abt this established sex tourism? why does a western man have to expose it for us? i believe that the ruling Indian elites are allowing this to happen to keep the oil flowing, under threats from Arabs - who know how to wield their oil weapon. there are also many Arab students in Indian cities these days, so one can wonder what they're upto? it is reported that many Indian college girls in Hyd and Pune are living-in with Arab students that come to study. the current westernization and loose morality of urban Indian girls is only increasing the tourism. Clearly, India is seen by Arabs as a cheap country filled with millions to be used and abused to satisfy their diverse appetites. moreResolved Question: I would like to invite partners for an upcomming venture . I'm taking a year out from 'the real world' to travel around the world, and I had considered going to South Africa. Does anybody out there who has lived or been to South Africa have any thoughts on the matter? One thing that concerned me is that, with the world cup coming up, would the country be buggered up by tourism? I'm in India at the moment, and, after two months, am rather depressed by how the tourist industry seems to have engulfed everything worth seeing. The Taj Mahal, for instance, is purely an (anti-climactic and surprisingly small) tourist attraction. Conversely, when I went to Russia, there is no rea 'industry' for foreign tourism, and the concept seems non-existent in Siberia and anywhere east of Moscow. Perhaps because of Russia's hostility towards outide visitors, places like the Kremlin and st Basil's cathedral retain a certain vestige which the massive tourist sites in India lack. So, I wonder how the state of affairs will be in South Africa, and if anyone can tell me, that would be grrreat. moreResolved Question: How many Americans travel to India for major medical procedures every year?

I need some guidance on what to do next for studying in New Zealand. Hailing from India, I completed my 10th in 2002 with 74% and then went on to pursue Intermediate studies (equivalent to 12th class) and scored 66%. That was in the year 2004. After 2004, i quit my studies and went on doing odd jobs. All these years, I had a strong desire for studying but wasnt able to coz of different reasons like family, financial problems etc. Now that the things have started getting better, I thought of continuing my studies abroad and New Zealand is a place tht excites me. I appeared the IELTS in Feb 2010 and scored 7.5 bands. The individual scores are like Listening 8.5, Speaking 6, Reading 9, Writing 6.5.. You can see, my luv to read books and anything that i cud lay hands on (during the hard days) reflects in my 9 bands in reading.... After getting my IELTS score, i visited many educational consultancies.... But found none who is genuinely interested in helping me honestly with some good university/college... All they throw on my face is some college they are associated with and those colleges charge fees like NZ $15000 minimum and that is way beyond my limits... And if the fee is around NZ $12500, then the college has no standard and its no bigger than a match-box (literally).... Im interested in pursuing my studies in either teaching/ travel & tourism/ early child education etc... Can anyone out there guide me in what way I can utilise my IELTS score for admission in some decent university/college and at low tuition fees... My financial condition is a little stable now but the fees of the universities is too high.... I can somehow manage if it comes down to something around NZ $9000... moreTourism India Links
