I'm currently studying in Italy, but I will be traveling to other places (mostly in Asia -- India, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.). I have a MyWave FW2011T dongle from TIM that I'd like to unlock so that I may purchase SIM cards in these other countries and stay connected. Is this possible? If so, how can I do it?  more

Open Question: Does anyone know how to get immediate grants or scholarships for traveling (volunteering) abroad?

To whom this may concern: My name is Onwaniqua Heard and I am currently 17 years old. I aspire to become a volunteer in South Africa or any place that needs my services to help with community building, teaching English, human rights, medicine or conserving lands and such. I am a well respected member of the community and I have plenty of volunteer experience with the disabled, the elderly and tutoring young children. I am an individual who is looking to change the lives of many others! I am a very loving and charismatic person with a great regard for human life. I know that I will gain a great deal from this program. I have also been looking at other countries such as Jamaica, Senegal, Morocco, Ghana, Romania, Mongolia, Jamaica, India, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Botswana, Peru, Mexico, and Costa Rica. If any programs are available this summer I would also like to know if there are scholarships/grants available to pay the full price. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated even if this organization gives me a lead to another site that can be of better assistance. Thank you! I have also been looking here: http://grants.library.wisc.edu/organizations/internationalfunding.html  more

Open Question: I am really asking a very SERIES question and I need a very truthful and helpful answer please .?

I has a very important and dear friend of mine [she is my relative too ] [and I swear to god I am not her and I am not talking about my self ] she is very important to me and to all our family and friends .and we all love her so much as she is a very kind person.but she has a bad problem ,all her life she never liked the way she looks ,and she has suffered a lot of issues because of that ,specially when she had a car accident ,and this accident resulted in such bad scares ,some burns and other physical injuries ,before this accident she was so cheerful and spontaneous ,active and full of life ,and she didn't care that she wasn't so beautiful as long as no one reminded her with that .but after that accident she was like the mountain that falls down .she became so miserable and extremely depressed .her psychological condition was so bad .she did some plastic and reconstructive surgeries that cured her injuries [scares and a few burns ] a little bit .as the plastic surgeries didn't help much and her doctors said that it will take a very long time to become in fine shape once a gain .so she was so desperate .because she also spent a lot of money on these surgeries.she became psychologically destroyed .and she tried all the means that can Enhance her look but in vain .also she has suicidal thoughts ,and then she went to a very different level and this is magic .I know it sounds strange ,but a friend of her that was her college in work [she used to work with her ] told her that if she used beauty magic spells and shape shifting spells that she will be cured from all her physical appearance injuries ,and she also told her that she knew some indian guy who is expert in this sort of things who can help her so much .of course our hearted girl was so eager to meet him .so her college told her that this guy would visit our country just for two weeks and then who will travel again to india ,so she must meet him and ask him to do her the spells just in these two weeks period .her college said that this indian is a professional magician and he is so expert at this kind of things.and he can do for you a lot of things but for the right price .but the problem that the right price was so expensive .as the indian guy asked for thousands of dollars [over 40 thousands dollars ] that was too much .but my friend was willing to pay him just to be cured from this burns and scares as she is psychologically destroyed and she is willing to do any thing to fix her shape again .personally i don't trust that guy and I am afraid that she loses all her remained money as she spent a lot of money on her plastic surgeries .so what can I do ,I just cant stop her and she seems that she will give the indian Magician the money he wants .to perform the spells for her .I don't know what to do .I am just asking is these beauty spells really works or it don't work ,as if it don't work or it wont help her I will try to convince her not to do this as she may lose all her money in vain ,I can understand why she don't care to lose all her money to fix her physical appearance again because I can understand her feelings as woman and I know that her condition hurts her so much [she is a passionate woman in all meanings ] .but if this magic spells didn't work she will lose all her money .and she will not find a penny to buy her self a Cream .so please tell me what can i do with her to convince her not to do this ,I am worried about her and I am feeling that they are using her and I don't know what to do.this a series and humane situation.so please give me truthful helpful answers that are so far from joking or giving any answers just for winning points ,and i will be thankful .and if you don't have any helpful or truthful answer please don't answer that question .as I don't know if i asked this question in the right place or not .because I am so depressed too and I am trying to find any information that can help.  more

Resolved Question: why are Indians treated so badly at the Korean consulate in India New delhi,?

when an Indian national goes either for visa submission or collection they have to stand in long que's without any protection from the SUN and they are being handled only by uneducated security guards all the time very rudely. They don't understand the importance of people aspiring to travel to Korea. They do not provide even a glass of water or a place to write the applications or correct the applications. More to say the Korean consulate is situated in the heart of the city in a good spread of paln with huge buildings and enough space to atleast have a simple shed for the Indian national who are in no way have to be treated so badly. The people at the counter are also rude. They don't understand thay the induvidual is asking for the basic rights of applying for the visa and no way obligated and there is no reason for the security guards or the staff to be so rude to educated felloow indians.  more

Voting Question: What to do about the in-laws visiting 6 months?

My husband and I just had a baby boy a couple months back and he will most likely be the only offspring we will have ever have due to medical reasons. We learned our baby has been diagnosed with a serious condition for the rest of his life.As it was very stressful early on, I am now faced with a different type of stress. Husband's parents are from India and are visiting/ staying at our home for six months. They are nice, but speak a different language, and come from a different culture and generation. The mother in law volunteered to cook while I tend to the five month old baby; however they constantly want to spend every second of time with him, even when the baby is under my supervision (by the way they also have other grand kids back home). Here's the problem, I feel I have no privacy in my own home and literally have to hide in the nursery to avoid them and so I can spend some one on one time with my own baby. I'm a stay at home mom and want to take care of the baby the best way I can and enjoy his precious milestones. My husband goes to work mornings and comes back evenings. He is a great father and the man I fell madly in love with. Things have changed a lot ever since his parent's visit. I understand he misses them, but he spends all his spare time with them, unfortunately leaving very little time to talk. We no longer watch tv/movies together like we once did, or ever go out. This is adding more tension to our marriage. On top of that, I just found out my in laws missed out on raising my husband and his sibling when they were babies and instead handed their kids over to their grandparents. So basically my in laws have zero experience of raising kids and missed out on a very important stage of being a parent. And now, it seems they are trying to compensate for that loss and relive parenting through my baby boy. I find this little disturbing and unfair because they chose to skip out of parenthood because it was an inconvenience to them during that time and now this explains their non-courteous behavior:Always wanting to push the stroller during all walks, wanting to constantly watch every move he makes, picking and holding him as if he is a toy. Even though I'm the baby's mother, they make me feel like I'm the third wheel and yesterday I told my husband how I feel.I tried to let to not let it bother me, but the in laws invited themselves into the small nursery and took over the time I had with the baby. I was hurt because i thought we had an agreement set. Since we have a large home, my husband had told them before that the family room was where they could play with the baby and to give me some space. From what I'm observing, they don't listen and haven't changed much. They continue to do the same things over until it's become annoying. I tried to persuade my husband if they could leave by august because I don't know how much longer I can take this, but from his silence they'll most likely be here till early fall. I miss my freedom to live and raise my baby the way I want to, but with them hovering around, instead I feel suffocated. Unfortunately, he thinks I'm over reacting and says they are not perfect nor are my own parents. He says he puts up with my parents when they visit from the east coast and I should be able to tolerate this. He doesn't see this as a major issue and wants to let them stay however long they want since they seldom get to visit due to travel costs and distance and because they are HIS parents. He said he would discuss the nursery matter with them, but them leaving early is not an option. Unfortunately we're we live we have no friends to console with and because of trust, I can't leave my baby in their care and go some place to escape. So now I'm stuck and the more I talk to hubby he's making me feel as if I'm the villain when all I want is some peace of mind. I know one thing for sure the more I stay with them, the more I cringe and fear we may end terms on a bad note. If they leave sooner things would be much more peaceful for everyone, but I don't see that happening.  more

Voting Question: Help me fulfil my wish - get me work that helps me travel all over, in India and abroad.?

I wish I had work (not necessarily a job) that took me to places all over India and abroad. Not just the commercial hubs like London, Singapore, New York etc. but also beyond. I am ok to make decent money but should have enough opportunity to travel. Not really looking for a corporate "up in the air" job but something where I can interact with people outside boardrooms too. Such a work could be in the form of a long-term project, a full-time employment, on-n-off but steady consultancy, etc. Could be with global companies, not-for-profit organisations, developmental agencies etc. I have 15 years of experience in global conglomerates, financial services firms, technology companies, dotcoms, and research institutions. I have worked in general management, strategic and techno-business roles. I am good at conceptualising things strategic and creative, starting new things from scratch, working with small teams and have result-oriented inter personnel skills. I have a keen interest in knowing about people, cultures, and environment. Can anyone suggest me anything?? At least, where to start looking?  more

Resolved Question: Do you think Jesus was the son of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra?

1 Caesarian was recognized as son of God in Egypt after his mother (Cleopatra)named him co ruler Pharaoh of Egypt and declared him as the King of kings at age 13 during a ceremony dedicated to Alexandria the Great at 34 BC 2 Julius Caesar was stubbed to death by his most trusted friends and then Octavian (Julius Caesar adopted son)swiftly took power as the new roman emperor Caesarian was supposed to be rightful heir since his father was Julius Caesar and also he was the first blood born. 3 After the death of Julius Caesar Cleopatra become romantically involved with Mark Anthony a commander of the Caesars Army and they had 3 kids(twins a boy and girl and then another boy) 4 Mark Anthony invades Egypt and so Cleopatra arranges for the safe passage of Caesarian to India with her most trusted servant whom by the way were called MARY AND JOSEPH.who become Caesarian guardians. 5 Mark Anthony places Cleopatra and his three kids in the care of his wife while Octavian invades Egypt. 6.Mark Anthony and his army suffer a brutal defeat by Octavian and so Mark Anthony commits suicide by falling on his on sword.and so Cleopatra commits suicide by a self inflicted snake bite. 7While traveling under cover in Egypt Caesarian is forced to change his name to Issa (Jesus in Arabic or Egyptian) and also hid his real identity. 8 Mathew 2:13-14 tell a parallel story of young Jesus,Mary and Joseph fleeing into Egypt under the cover of nite, .why tell this? 9 according to the bible two of Jesus disciples were named James and Thomas full brothers and also according to the bible the Jesus is identified as their half bro, Thomas is also identified in the bible as Jesus twin, how is it possible that Jesus was a half brother and also a twin at the same time?, well Mark Anthony had three kids with Cleopatra (James, and one of the twins Thomas,)which clearly made them Jesus half brothers and also Thomas was clearly Jesus younger half twin brother . Mary Magdalene was the second Mary present during Jesus crucifixion also identified in the bible as Mary of Cleopas( Mary of Cleopatra) 10 Caesarian (Jesus) had promised to recapture his fathers kingdom which Octavian had stolen from him not with swords and army but with a new religion and transforming it from Roman empire to the new holy roman empire. what do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEq9KPbFc2A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxjKi8gVWMU  more

Voting Question: What is driving the worldwide revival going on right now?

First the disclaimer: I'm not a practicing anything, though I do consider myself spiritual in the sense that I try to keep an open mind and just admit to myself that I just don't know enough one way or another to commit to any one defined way or looking at the world and existence. My spirituality I find mostly in nature. So my question. A friend of mine whose Dad travels alot during the summer setting up literacy centers all over the world as a joint effort by U.S. universities ( He's a PHD at Davis in Sacramento ) told us that there is a gigantic revival going on in many places around the world. South America, China, The Pacific Rim, Africa, and even some of the Muslim nations like, interestingly enough, Iraq, are seeing explosive growth despite repressive governments. The gatherings range anywhere from a dozen people in what they call a " house church " to a crowd I had to see his video of to believe where 1.4 million people were gathered in one place at one time. My first though was that these are developing nations and so more easily swayed, but on the other hand China is hardly just a developing nation, and neither is India...both of which are poised to overtake the United States in both technology and productivity in the next ten years or so. He says from what he can tell it's happening because they have moved beyond religion, dogma, or ceremonialism to a basic unstructured grassroots sort of worship that focuses on the words of Christ reduced to their most simple form. A former Muslim in Iraq said the problem with the west is religion is judged in accordance with it's abusers, so no wonder people are disillusioned. He goes on to say it has to be judged by the character and intent of it's founder, who was never interested in starting a religion in the first place. Anyway it's fascinating. Thoughts?  more

Voting Question: Young kid- how do I travel the world?

So, I am an 18 year old girl about to set foot in COLLEGE. I'm broke. Can't even find a job for the summer. So the question I ask of you is this: I want to travel. A lot. There are so many places I want to go and things I want to see! And I don't even mean like, a week backpacking in Germany. I'm talking Bolivia, Indonesia, Ireland, India, Europe... (Those are the top 4 countries at the moment, for specific reason.) But realistically, HOW? I keep reading and hearing "travel now, it only gets harder." what I want is someone to tell me how to do it. "Find time after you've been working at a coffee shop for a month or two!" is not going to cut it. I have school September through May, hopefully internships some summers, no money for college let alone travelling- But I don't want to let my chances slip away. I want to settle down with a family in my late 20s, when I'll start having a job and getting real money yet zero time to bring a screaming 3 year old on an airplane and Machu Pichu hiking trip. >_< So, how would I even begin to realistically plan for any trip like this?  more

Resolved Question: I'm a writer...I'm too young to be an author, but i want someone to read some of my writing. Help?

here's an excerpt of my latest book, 100% Undead: “Amazing. Absolutely brilliant, Meggie.” Emily praised me. I giggled. But that triggered another new power. This time it was that I could project things out and make like a story. As I spoke, the story went along with what I said. Ambry and Belle wanted to see first. So I focused so that my movements were controlled by the power. “Once, in the land of Far Away, three girls were left alone in a cabin..” I told the story on, gathering a crowd of my friends. I went on, speaking of a witch godmother turning three princesses into pixies without wings who had to get a magic vile of dragon spit to turn back to normal. By the end, Ambry and Belle were cuddled up in a sleeping bag. I was tired to the extreme. Jacque hadn’t fallen asleep yet, and she was practicing telekinesis on the twins. They didn’t notice. I thought, and I became sleepy as I watched Lindsay drift peacefully asleep, floating in midair and slowly, ever so slightly, become invisible. Emily was watching Animal Planet on her miniature TV. I closed my eyes. Everything was calm, and yet, I was still afraid. The zombies had left, and they had taken Brit with them. I saw everything in the hut, right down to the cellar. Meswie liked it down there. I nudged Emily. “Meggie, what?” Emily looked bubbly, though it was two in the morning. “Will we stay…alive? I mean, you can tell the twins that we will conquer the zombie race, and that we will never die while we fight, but I see the dysfunctions in your eyes. How can we survive?” I felt distraught. “Oh….” Emily thought. “Well…I see what you meant. We have our powers. We might not conquer a whole race, but if we can save people in as many places as we can, we can….call for my mom’s plane, the Bloomer, and ride to England, travel down south by my dad’s boat, the Cindy Ray, and from there we use buses, taxis, trains, and walk to Asia or possibly India or Africa. We can take twenty other people, and start waiting for the zombies to die. Every time a zombie kills twice, he dies. But after two days ‘re-alive’ they burst and never return. Just a couple weeks in Asia, and America will be safe again.” I hadn’t expected her answer. I had plans of my own. I will sneak out the emergency escape tunnel I found….after everyone has fallen asleep Tomorrow. I would take my zombie book, a blanket, pillow, a medicine I had conjured up to cure early zombie changing, Mewsie, gauze, and other things. I reached for my backpack. I shuffled for my clipboard and began writing with my polka-dotted pencil Fiona gave me. I wrote my plan out, by flashlight under my sleeping bag. Emily was asleep at her desk, I had turned off her lamp. what do u think? i respect criticism and i reely hoped u liked it. comment below! :)  more

Resolved Question: What is the BEST place to visit in Asia?

my best friend and I want to take a trip to Asia: preferably either India, Thailand, Indonesia or the Philippines. Has anyone traveled to one or more of these places? We want a hotel/area/city that includes a majority or helpful English-friendly tourism, hiking and/or beautiful beaches or mount areas to hike, easy transportation (ie less than a three hour bus to the airport) and lastly, not a lot of crime. I wholeheartedly appreciate any views/comments. Major points! thank you!  more

Hello! I weigh 120 lbs and I'm 5'8. Now I know that I'm not fat or anything but I am really not happy with my legs--especially my inner thighs. I am traveling over a lot of places this summer. First, my parents are renting a house near the beach in Orlando for a week and we'll be hitting up all the amusement parks there. Then I'm staying my hometown for about 2 1/2 weeks and then I'm traveling to London and India and then Seattle. So with that being said, I will not have much time to exercise and I really need to because of tennis next year. I want to have nice, musclarish looking legs. What exercises are best for getting your legs in awesome shape? and overall just your body? Please help! Thank you :)  more

Resolved Question: Who wants a travelling life with me?

I met a couple while i was living in Sydney, Australia and their story was the best story i could ever imagine and it stayed with me ever since. Not as a goal but as a pain :) Like knowing happy people who have all the money in the world or something like that. Because i couldn't dare dream of ever being in such a relationship but i imagined it to be the end of the rainbow. They met each other in India, while doing some solo-travelling, fell in love and sat down to have a little chat. They both loved travelling very much and they decided; Fuck it! We are going to take what we can get! Now at the end of every amazing year they sit down and each make their own What-if-next-year-is-my-last-?-list. He wants to do a diving course in ... Yongala or something, see a number of other places and join the hot air balloon pilot school in ... America. She wants to climb some mountain somewhere, swim with the dolfins, visit some cave... and see a number of other places. i don't know. I'm just making this stuff up. Anyway, they put their lists together, put all the destinations on one line, and they go and do it. Moving from place to place, working on the way, going with whatever happens and making sure they enjoy themselves to the fullest. He's teaching her how to be smart with money, she's teaching him how to arrange things in the right way and find good housing quickly... etc. And they're very good at it! Now i'm sure this is probable naive and stuppid in some way or another but if anyone is up for it... so am i! So, i guess this is a "male seeks crazy, smart, adventures and beautiful 30-year-old woman" ad :) Travelling isn't that expensive. I've lived in Spain, London, The Caribbean and in Sydney Australia and travelled to many places but i never had much money. You just have to be smart and ... easy.  more

Resolved Question: British Empire was not 'wicked' says Michael Palin, the travel writer and former Monty...?

...Python star. OK? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/6251398/Michael-Palin-British-Empire-was-not-wicked.html (Spike says 'All the old Imperial stuff is now actually run by India: the Commonwealth organisation and the international popularity of Cricket. Also, the Asian subcontinent -Pakistan- is the best place to buy Scottish bagpipes.) While the Empire – at its height controlling a third of the world’s population – had many, often brutal, failings, its positive effects were still being felt today, he said. Palin has just taken up the role of president of the Royal Geographical Society and, in an interview in Geographical magazine, he said: "If we say that all of our past involvement with the world was bad and wicked and wrong, I think we're doing ourselves a great disservice.  more

Resolved Question: A Villager's Melancholy:I could see high-rise Temples at a distance of 10 kms.Why are they obscured now?

Tamil Nadu is the only State in India where one can find high rise temples and big ponds adjacent in big towns. My native place is Mannargudi,Tamil Nadu,India. There is a nice temple with too high wall surrounding the temple. The pond is square shaped may be more than a km in circumference. I could see the temple at a distance of,say 10kms while traveling by coach, run by Indian Railways in 1960s. Now haphazard, mushroom growth of tall buildings violating all rules with the help of some powerful guys have destroyed the scenic beauty of almost all temples built many centuries before by Rajas'. We have been losing our rich heritage and culture due to step-mother treatment meted out by those who have scant regards for all these.  more

Voting Question: 'Get Direction' - On Google maps - Monitored by human?

Am Bhoopalan Thaati from Chennai, India. I search routes on Google maps 'Get direction' app before going to some unknown locations. What amazes me is, This 'Get direction' app, knows everything in nook & corner of Chennai. I myself don't know every place. This 'Get direction' feature knows about all 'round abouts', one ways, dead ends and everything that is important for a person who is traveling on his own vehicle. I never expected a computer generated direction would be so accurate. That's why I am confused, if these routes are routes that human set themselves or really automatically generated routes?  more

Resolved Question: Why is the "deep south" section of the United States so racist when compared to the rest of the US?

BEFORE you speak, look up what the "deep south" means. It does not include Texas, Florida, North Carolina, or Virginia. As someone who has traveled to a lot of places and lived in a lot of places I have noticed this. In the deep south I notice that people give cold stares to interracial couples, usually say a lot of racial slurs out loud, generally show uneasiness and discomfort around foreigners, are more inclined to ignore a person because of their race/ethnicity and in many cases they act shocked whenever they see an Asian or Hispanic person. I currently have a friend who lives in the deep south and he is Indian (Asian, aka from India). He tells me that his kids have a really tough time at school, daily they hear the most racial slurs being thrown at their direction, most do not have many friends because they don't take kindly to him being a Hindu, the people call him all sorts of name on his way to work and once when I visited I saw his kid being pushed by a White kid (and I am White myself) and the White kid said "go back to your own country you dumb sand n*gger". I am so shocked, I currently live in New England and here we see Indian, Black, Hispanic and Asian people getting along all the time and me being White myself, I play basketball with my Black and Asian friends a lot. My Hispanic friends seem to be more interested in Soccer though. Anyways, why is the deep south portion of the United States so racist?  more
