Resolved Question: Le Cordon Bleu... help?
i am 17 years old female in America graduating high school in 2 months. i finished in 3 years so now i have a year to spare to do with what i want. my parents think i'm going to college (how conventional) to get a business degree in 4 years.
what i really want is to go to Le Cordon Bleu culinary arts. i have such a passion for learning and creating things and food just seems the way to go. there will always be a job because everyone has to eat :p and i would love to open a unique restaurant after attending and graduating from the Culinary School.
some would ask why travel to europe when there are culinary schools here and my response why stay in the USA when a whole other culture awaits to be enjoyed!! (i love studding other cultures when i was little i wanted to be Archaeologists) so i have a choice to go study at the very finest trade school in Paris France or in London England, Melbourne, and Sydney Australia. so i need help deciding where to go and my options considering i'm so young.
i am learning german and have a friend that lives in germany so i'd like to live near a friend. From Germany to France on the train is like an hour and a half so that wouldn't be so far. however i would have to fully committee and learn French and German to be able to understand how to get around, school, conversations... (i think i would like living in a new place using a different language and meeting new people along with getting a degree from the very best Culinary School!)
OR i could go to school in London England not knowing anybody, not have to learn a language.
next year i will be 18 an adult, i could leave home start my higher learning without my parents trying to keep me here doing the same old boring things. i want to wait one more year to grow up however not spending it doing something unnecessary like community college (because i don't think credits would transfer to culinary school). i was really seriously thinking about taking a break from the whole college and learning German French and Spanish really well fully committed with a one on one tutor! and not having any distractions so that i could be prepared for my career goal (if worse comes to worse i could use the knowledge and teach languages).
so my question to you is what should i do this year before i turn 18 because it will decide what my future will be. if i learn the languages i will be set to go to france, if i don't i will have to think of a new plan altogether.
(i have totally faith with hard work i will be-able to learn the languages fast in a year. i just know)
and i need pointers on how to convince my parents to accept my goals (they have always instilled college and business in me and my brothers since we were little and up to now i thought i was going to be a business woman. however i know i would not be happy with that job)

The brumbies owned the plains and into the steep gorges of the Flinders Ranges. They could not be captured easily. Eyes flashing with black manes and tails flicking, they dashed clean out of sight as soon as you ever caught a glimpse of them.
Early that year a meat importer caught sight of them while holidaying in the Australian out back. When he got back home to France, he phoned the station owner back in South Australia as it had been playing on his mind for the remainder of the trip:- the thought that there was money to be made shipping horse flesh back to his country, cryovaced and ready to sell to up market restaurants in the city of Paris. He made Mr Morgan an offer he could not refuse as the horses were increasing in number and were competing for food with the cattle that were his major source of income. We need to remember the long drought had, as yet, showed no sign of breaking. A certain up market French restaurant was hungry for horse meat.
The cattle men on the station were renowned for their riding skills as were their mounts. After a few days they had most of them all loaded into a cattle truck ready for the trip to the rail head at Port Augusta. They would be slaughtered and processed in Adelaide after a five hour trip by rail. It would then be shipped frozen to France. This meat would be expensive but there were plenty of wealthy customers and diners who would be willing to pay for gourmet meals of horse flesh.
The horses were having none of this as the huge black stallion and leader of the herd kicked the hinges off the gate to the railway cattle truck and horses sprayed out in all directions soon to be led by the stallion along the road and into the first paddock with an open gate. Thirst got the better of them and soon they were found drinking at the nearest sheep trough. Adrian Draper was on his way to the owner’s place when he saw them and nimbly opened the next gate and drove through without any horse doing the same. Jeff was in the shearing shed when Adrian called out to tell him about all his unwanted visitors.
Jeff was on the phone immediately to the management in the Railways demanding to know how this situation had occurred. Not only did he have sheep to pasture, he had the responsibility quite a few agisted horses in a paddock nearby.
The skilled horsemen in Morgan’s employ were soon dispatched to Port Augusta for the big roundup to get those slippery horses back on to the rail trucks ready for the trip to Adelaide.
These horses had a proud heritage, having descended from magnificent military animals and left to go wild in the out back after the First World War. Only the strong and most wily ones survived the harshness of the Australian summers and the extremes of drought. It took two long hard days of mustering to get them back on the trucks but even then, the black stallion had escaped to the foot hill with a harem of at least three of his mares.
In the hills they soon joined up with a motley band of resident wild horses that were being led by a fairly old white stallion. Very soon new blood was invigorating the herd and they quickly learnt new tricks from the wild newcomers on how to evade capture.
The top insult came when the black stallion impregnated several elderly mares who had been put out to grass on this land to end their days in peace. There were some other assorted horses and ponies there also of various ages and none were expected to be in foal by the next year but they were. The Black Stallion spread his genes and then vanished into the hills never to be caught. He is there to this day.

a) have plenty of things do over the week,
b) nice enough weather,
c) is cheap (eg. around 10 euros for a main course in a restaurant) and
d) near an airport as we won't bother hiring a car I don't think.

Last year in July I travelled to Paris. Paris is a town situated in a country called France in Europe. I went with my family and two of my best friends from school. We went by plane, and it took us around one hour and a half before we reached Paris. The views from the plane were amazing.
As we landed in the Airport in Paris, we went to collect our baggage, and then hired a car at one of the agencies.
The weather seemed good, with a nice clear sky.
We travelled to our hotel as we were quite tired from the journey.
I went to sleep at around 10:00pm after watching a bit of Tv.
In the morning we all woke up early so we could go sight seeing. We went to see the Eiffel tower and took many memorable pictures.
After all that we decided to go to the beach. Me and my friends went swimming in the sea, while my parents just sun bathed and probably slept for a bit. The water was cold at first, but we soon got used to it and started enjoying ourselves.
After having a swimming me and my friends decided to go an buy an ice cream. It tasted very nice, mine was chocolate and vanilla flavoured.
After eating the ice cream we packed all our stuff away. I helped my dad by putting away the parasol.
We all got in the car and drove to a near by restaurant.
The food tasted great, especially the desert.
Soon after we ate, we went back home because mum and dad were tired and said they wanted to go to go home and plan what to do tomorrow.
While they did so, me and my friends went to play football in the garden, and while doing so we met a French boy. It was exciting speaking French. We told him our names and asked him if he wanted to play. He said yes and so we played with him as well.
Unfortunately we managed to loose the ball a few times, but luckily we always found it in the end.
It was very entertaining and good fun.
Soon after, my parents started calling for us to go inside as it was getting late.
We then watched a bit of Tv, before all going to bed.
During the week we went sight seeing other places such as the Arc de Triomphe.
Although I wished I could of stayed longer, I did start to miss some of my other family back home, so it was ok.
Next year, me and my parents are thinking of going on a trip to Germany. We still aren't sure were, but I am sure that we will soon arrange something. I would like to meet someone who is German so I could practice my speaking skills, and also make friends.
I think we will also travel by plane when we go to Germany, as it is the cheapest alternative. (Is that even right.. cheapest alternative.. anyways)
I hope we can stay for a bit longer than we did in France. And also take more friends.
