Open Question: Question about getting mouse cursors?
I want a cool mouse cursor(: But i want it to be free and no surveys or viruses attached if it had to be downloaded. I kind of wanted it to be a letter as my mouse. the cursor is the little white arrow that you use to click on your computer(if you didnt know). i know they have different cursors you can have on myspace, but i want one for my whole computer. websites, anyone?

I just obtained a refurbished Dell Latitude w/ Windows XP, seems to work great except the touchpad has the tapping/clicking activated.
When I go to the control panel there is no section for touchpad. There is a Mouse window in control panel that has tabs: Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, and Hardware.
When i try to get instructions online they say to go to some tab that doesn't appear on my computer. When I adjust pointer speed under Mouse;PointerOptions it adjust the touchpad cursor speed, but there is nothing I can find to adjust touchpad clicking.
Do you know how I might turn off the touchpad tapping setting or if there is perhaps a driver I need to download ?

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Okay like on YouTube homepage you know that flash advertisement at the top that has a close add and X to click well my cursor dose not recognize it. And same thing on Amazon when I want to watch a video on a product I can get it to play but I cannot full screen it or pause or skip around video. Do I need to download something for adobe flash or shock-wave or what? Or is it my Logitech MX Performance Mouse, but I'm using a new Vaio laptop and its built in touch pad is doing the same thing so I don't think its the mouse. Please help.

google chrome is the main browser i use , i have quite a few added on extentions, and bookmarks , ive had a lot of tabs open for months and its never really caused problems but recently im starting to get the messages ; shockwave plug in is unresponsive ; do you wish to stop it ? - and the pages wont load , they freeze , i cant move the cursor or mouse, tabs keep crashing etc.
ive used ' glarys untilities ' recently to clean registry errors , and clean up , so im not sure if that has broke the chrome browser , but when i start it up, its just not working properly , crashes and freezes until i have to shut it down via task manager.
ive tried uninstalling shockwave player and re installing it , but it doesn't make any difference.
also months ago i downloaded programs and uninstalled them because they were no good and since , it altered my internet explorer browser 8 , the address bar has vanished , along with the go arrows for ' forward ' and ' back '.
ive tried restoring settings in the internet explo 8 internet options , didnt work , cant use system restore because ive had it switched off .
the only thing i can think of as a computer novice , is to uninstall internet explorer 8 and google chrome , then reinstall them.
but im worried i will lose any favourites or bookmarks or extentions or even my internet history to find pages i was researching or looking at...
any ideas ?

Anyway, I did it mainly because it says "Author: Microsoft." So I figured it would be safe. It was a "run" only file, so without thinking, I pressed "run." And instantly, a command line window showed up, did some things and dissapeared. I'm not sure if the mouse pointers were downloaded or not, because there is no description of what it includes. All I want to know is if this is normal for a Microsoft, or PC World download? Nothing is wrong with my pc, at all. I just don't want anything to come out of nowhere. Any suggestions?

My PC was working fine, then last night, the mouse stops working. Now cursor appears at all! Replace the batteries, tried another cordless mouse, then tried a corded mouse. The computer seems to recognize it as a new device, and tries to download the driver. I've tried a few suggestions about restoring, but that doesn't work. Tried to remove the items under mouse and pointing devices, but all instructions say to "right click" and that doesn't help since the mouse won't work. Tried installing a logitech driver for the corded mouse, but that requires that you click "Next" you can't tab to it. How do I fix this?
Still can't get it to work. I should also mention that the mouse and the keyboard I was using originally uses the same USB transmitter as the mouse. Keyboard works, mouse does not.
I also tried the driver updater suggested. That one also requires a "click" to run. I have 3 such programs now and all require a mouse click.

I had a virus on my computer about a month ago, I use and anti-malware and ccleaner and the computer seem ok although it took a hour after logging into desktop it was ok after that.
Since Saturday though, once in desktop nothing with appeer once clicked on apart from Google chrome. The cursor/ mouse is free to move but I can't get anything to come up, can't download anything from Google chrome either.
I can search on Google Chrome and the internet works fine and I can now do this straight away without having to wait an hour for desktop to load but can't get up help, or documents or anything other than Google Chrome.
I can't click on Ctrl-alt-del as nothing will come up apart from Google Chrome which works fine.

I just upgraded my Windows XP system with new graphics card (Geforce 250), hard drive (Western Digital 1tb, RAM from 2gb to 4gb with the same brand and model ram, and i have an intel core 2 duo 6600...
My problem is with installing Windows 7. I downloaded Windows 7 through the student program and burnt the image i purchased using freeware to a DVD. The install takes a realllly long time like 5-6 hours to run through the install. The menu's pop us slow, but the process finishes and i am asked for my product key and to set up my network...again very slowly. Then it just stop working. I have a black screen with a mouse cursor that I can move. I can't get Windows 7 working at all. Here's a few things I've tried while looking online for solutions.
1. Disable Floppy Drives (suppose to help from some topic i read)
2. Changed to low resolution mode (nothing changes)
3. Reinstalled and tried again (no success)
By the way this is with the 64 bit Windows 7, I am thinking my processor is not 64 bit compatabible? 3 people at Fry's say it should be fine....Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for reading this monster of a message.

A few days ago, i was using it, and the mouse crashed. Unable to get it to respond, i restarted the PC.
Ever since, it gets past the compaq screen, to a blank screen with a grey cursor flashing at the top of the page, then onto the windows unexpectedly restarted --Please choose a format for it to restart-safe mode, safe mode with networking, last known settings, or normally.
No matter what i choose, it goes to windows XP loading.
Then restarts. All over again.
Same problem.
I can't even get onto my PC.

Now I don't to buy a new tablet for my artwork, and I don't want to download it on to my laptop, for low res reasons. Take into account that I can barely afford the 8 grand computer so make the solution around $200. P.S. The cursor and highlight thing keep scrolling to the left. Like, whenever I type, it puts the cursor on the left so the word comes out backwards. And whenever I try to highlight something on my desktop it always highlights whatever icon is to the very left of the screen. Everything keeps scrolling left, and I don't know why. It happened last night; Firefox wasn't responding, so I closed it out, but before I turned it off I noticed that my leftmost icon was highlighted, like the internet icon is when you exit out. I got up this morning and it was like this. All I've recently downloaded was Firefox (the day before it happenened), a theme (a few hours before it happened), and GameFOX (same day as Firefox). I also made a new desktop background around the same time as I got the theme.
I've run numerous virus checks, to no avail. I've tried unplugging my mouse and keyboard, but that wasn't the problem either. I also changed my security settings on Firefox a short time before it happened.
Please help; I don't know what to do and it's incredibly difficult to use my computer. I've said everything I know, and I won't be able to get back on this (working) computer for a little while, so I can't respond to any questions. I can still check this topic, so please do your best to help, and I'll respond if it's fixed.

When I'm doing things on the computer like typing a paper, it sometimes comes to a slow crawl. The letters I type at around 55 wpm show up at a rate of maybe one letter per second on the screen and I try to click all over the place but get an even slower response rate from the mouse. If I'm surfing the internet, my page loading time goes from a fast speed to a slow speed, sometimes even freezing up. If I try to type in the address bar, the cursor won't show up at all. Just now, I was in the middle of watching a movie on netflix and everything was running smoothly but the movie paused in the middle and almost froze IE. The problem: Microsoft Security Essentials downloading an update. I look down at the bottom right of the screen and find the blue house with the green, downward moving arrow. I open it up and by the time it's open, the "cancel download" button is grayed out and the download status basically says, "almost done" but it goes on for at least a minute before the process fully completes and I can get back to work. This is so annoying.
I own a typical Eee PC 901 with Windows XP. I either want my computer to stop coming to a slow crawl every time an update occurs in MSE or a way to stop MSE from updating without warning whenever it feels like it just because there happens to be an update. I'd rather download the update when I get off the computer. I love MSE and there's at least one time that I know of where it has rescued my computer from a serious virus that I know of (not to mention the other times that I don't know of) because it's always doing its job but this has got to stop.

my computer is P4i65G As-rock mother board, 2.8Ghz p4 intel cpu. 512mb kingston ram., BIOS version 1.4. recently my hard drive went bad , so i bought a new one. The previous one was ata , so this time i bought a sata one ,hoping it would be more reliable. but to my bad luck , it was sata 2, and my motherboard just has 2 sata 1 port. I didn't know there are things like sata 1 and 2. after going into a lot of trouble , i could install windows xp sp2 in it( as i was trying different methods,i just disabled primary ide and to my luck it just installed)
the problem that i face now is that my computer suddenly stops. The mouse stops , the keyboard stops, everything stops. It just stops in that screen , even the time is stopped. even after half an hour , it is the same screen, mouse pointer at same place, and the same time in the tool bar.
And every time my computer freezes , the hard drive lead( the red one) stops blinking , so i suppose my computer is no more reading data from the hard drive. I don't know if my hard drive have stopped or not. When i put my had on the computer case(just outside where the hard drive is supposed to be) i can feel the vibration , but it may be due to cpu fan . I even tried putting jumper to work it as sata 1 as mentioned in western digital site( my hard drive is western digital blue cavier).
And the most interesting thing is , when my computer is working ,it is just working normally, i can download movies ,watch them , browse net , actually do anything that i am used to do with the computer. The computer speed is the same . And the computer just restarts normally when i push the restart button and restart the computer. last time when my computer stopped , i restarted and went into the bios and the cpu temp was 51-55 c, mother board 38-40 c.
before when my cpu fan went wrong, my computer used to shut itself, then i changed it, it is working well now with 3000rpm. It should be no problem with my temp. as sometimes this phenomenon occurs even when i just started my computer.
I have no computer viruses. I use semantic anti virus v.10.
so i don't know what has gone wrong with my computer.
my gut says , it's something to do with HDD settings, may be sata 2 is new for my mb , but there should be some ways to make it right. i am not a computer expert, i just learn things by reading here and there in the websites.
so please help me, i am in no position to buy a new computer at the moment.

my new 320 gb hard drive is nearly totally free. about memory, out of 512 mb, 8mb is used by graphic adaptor , and after antivirus software and everything still 130mb is left as physical memory , and 1.8 gb out of 2 gb is still left.
before when i used to have my old hdd working , this much memory was enough for me.

My macbook pro 13 inch has a intel core 2 duo 2.26 ghz processor and has 4 gb of RAM, but the problem only started recently, and seems to happen whenever im online, such as using msn or firefox. I have utorrent on, but im only downloading one file and that shouldn't be much of a problem, supposedly, and hasnt caused any problems before. I also have entourage on, but it hasnt cause any problems either. I have plenty of storage on my computer, about 100 gb, not that it should affect my computer speed anyways. Also another problem is my computer is not updating, and saying that there are no new updates even though my mac is only 10.6.1, so im not sure if that is the cause.

Hi, I use Hp probook 4410s with windows 7 operating system. My touchpad becomes violent after sometimes of starting windows (like, it moving with click, open the files/program without click when cursor goes over them, going to right corner to left directly or vise versa). So i download driver synaptic touchpad driver from hp website recommending for my model but now problem is touchpad works when laptop start but hang after sometimes. if i press alt+del+ctrl and chose "switch user" then it works again but not all time. Even if i go control panel>mouse setting>device setting and chose reset device then it works but not all time. when it not works then no device is show in device setting>device but normally it shows synaptic touchpad v 7.2 and port name PS2. I have TW Roadrunner Cable internet service, but it takes a long time when I open up a page or download things. One thing I really can't stand is how my mouse cursor keeps freezing on the screen. I have to unplug it, then plug it back in for it to work (about every 2 min on average). I checked my "Local Disk (C:)" and the free space is 17.4GB of 71.3GB. Not really sure if that has something to do with it or not. BTW, I have CCleaner installed, and I run the cleaner and scan the registry at least once a day. I run an Alienware Laptop with windows vista(not 7 cuz im afraid itll uninstall World of Warcraft and stuff by downloading it) and my mouse MORE OFTEN WHEN IM TYPING and sometimes just by so much as touching my hand to the open area the track pad is on and the cursor randomly clicks and sometimes just holds down and i have to keep clicking to unstick it. ive tried adjusting mouse sensitivity and when i reformatted this cuz of windows vistas problem the mouse problem was still there. I've looked around everywhere and havent found a suitable answer. Heres my problem - My mouse all of a sudden started to "lag" or freeze up a while back. The mouse cursor will remain frozen but I can tell that the mouse itself continues to track properly, because if I move the mouse over a link or hoverable object, it will show an indication of such. I've had this happen on the desktop, in folders, text files, video games and all sorts of programs. If it can happen there it, probably has.
I've tried virus scanning, updating my video drivers, system defragging, spyware scanning, downloading drivers for the mouse itself, I did a system processes scan, I even went out and bought a new mouse and it still happens. It happens randomly and the periods inbetween are irratic. Both mice are optical mice and are very clean. The mousepad I use is non-reflective and also very clean.
I'm worried that I'll have to reformat or even worse, if a reformat wont fix the problem, what if the issue is with my vid card, motherboard or something else like that. Any help?
Both mice in question are USB mice. With my old mouse I used a ps2 adaptor. I have not attempted to use the ps2 adaptor with this new mouse.
I am currently trying a different USP port to see if that helps. I have no external anything running from any USP ports. If this solution doesnt work I'll try the winxp repair suggestion.

I've went to file and then add folder to library on itunes, but it doesn't have the songs I can't put on my playlist when I encounter the "halt" sign. Any help?

there is this thing in my computer when i'm opening it which says that " you've got my lemons and it's not that sour. your computer has been locked. text me in this number ----------- (i forgot the number) to be able to unlock it" and the cursor is not moving when i'm using the mouse.
the last thing that i did was to download an application and I've already deleted it.i am opening the windows task manager by clicking alt+ctrl+del and it helped, but the problem is that every time i'm shutting my computer down and opening it up again, the message is still there and i still have to do that pressing thing over and over again every time i'm opening my pc...................how will i be able to remove it?????please help me!!!!! =' (

Okay, I just downloaded IE8 and the download worked seemingly great, and it looked nothing went wrong. But when my computer restarted, the IE would not open! It shows the Mouse and Hourglass cursor, then it goes away. It does not shoe it in the task manager either. The only time it opens, is when I shut down the computer. Anyone know any reasons why it may do this, or how to fix it? Thanks.

I currently tried to update my nvidia geforce 8500 gt card with the latest driver after receiving mass amounts of artifacting while playing the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta. I downloaded the driver off of Nvidias website and after installing was prompted to restart my computer. After rebooting the computer will load up to the screen with the windows logo but when it should proceed to the login screen it will stay at a black screen with only the ability to move my mouse cursor. I have restarted multiple times only for this to keep happening. I did a system restore in safe mode to get my computer back to normal but still do not have the newest drivers because this happens every time upon installation. I am running Windows Vista 32bit and have not had this problem before with my graphics card. What should i do to get the drivers to work?

How to solve this problem it started yesterday when I will click start nothing will happen and when i click my desktop icon nothings happen, good thing i install a pop up program and can direct me to internet explorer. But when i download at programs will not respond and when i will open up my task manager lots of things will appear and it said Run a DLL as an App. I had suppose to print but I cant print and cannot click anything in the desktop even do 1 icon. I have 1 idea suppose to download and after downloading I will uninstall the Mouse Cursor i have installed, as what i have say it failed because after downloading it will say scanning for virus and the computer will hang and watta need to restart. moreVoting Question: Help with PC Desktop only starting in Safe Mode?
My girlfriend's family Dell desktop (W. Vista) is all messed up because her younger brother and his "friends" were looking at websites they shouldn't have been, and the computer got all messed up from some sort of virus or spyware or something. It wouldn't start in normal mode (screen stays black and you can only see the mouse icon), so i tried safe mode with internet and it worked. Internet explorer ran horribly and the viruses would not allow most webpages to load or it would take me to the same spyware-like url telling me how many viruses the computer has etc. I tried downloading Nortons A-V from the comcast website but internet explorer wouldn't load.
There is no anti-virus on the computer so that's a problem. I tried doing system restore from many different restore points to no avail. Systems restore would start, the computer would re-boot and the boot screen appeared, and after the boot screen closed the screen would turn black only showing the mouse cursor. I doubt they have any of the OS discs to re-install windows either.
What are some steps i should take to correct the problem or at least get some sort of diagnosis?

We jus upgraded our windows XP computer to windows seven. The mouse and keyboard were working fine but i couldn't get the internet working. The computer suggested i restore the internet settings to see if they were the problem. So i pushed ok and the computer said Restoring plz wait but the computer froze so i pushed the power button on the comuter to restart it. it started up fine and the computer is working fine but the mouse and keyboard won't work. i hav no way to get into the computer to download updates or files that could help it. but the mouse lights up so the sensor and everything is working but the cursor won't move plz help

So, I've got a DELL inspiron computer, and it's fairly new, maybe only 5 months old, not even.
Anyway, I've got one of those optical laser mouse' connected with a USB cable, but it seems whenever I leave my computer for a little while, my cursor will go littereally insane! I was on the internet looking at stuff and i was on a website that i've been on before and it's been fine in the past but when i clicked on a thumbnail to a picture, it opened a box that asked "allow" and "cancel" and I Accidentally clicked allow and it downloaded something called "Desktop Defender" which was obviously a virus so I ran a virus scan and it quarantined it on my comp, then I uninstalled it from the programs list. Then I installed my webcam on the computer and restarted it because it told me to. When i typed in my pass word and logged into my comp, is said "Desktop Defender is not responding" and then there's nothing! Just a mouse cursor! I can do Ctrl Alt Delete and do "New Task" (That's how I got to the internet) But there is not task bar, theres no desktop icons or wallpaper, there's nothing! How do I fix this?!
