Open Question: Err, which should I choose? Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 or Apple iPod Touch 4th Generation?

Okay, first of all, lemme say this. I have a deal with my brother's fiance. I'll lend her $250 for two weeks so she could get a supplementary credit card because she won't be able to get a credit card if she can't maintain $500 in her ATM for two weeks, she can only maintain $250 that's why she needs my help. Well, I'm only a college student and I just had enough of my phone and my PSP Go (because it can't be hakced -.- ) and I just want a new phone. My PSP and phone is worth $150 and I need to save the other $100 out of my monthly allowance. Okay, I like the SE Xperia X10 because of its design, though I know its disadvantages, it's still a cool phone for me. About iPod Touch 4th Gen, it has better video recording (HD) and I think more fun games and better video playback. The problem is: I'm just not comfortable in bringing two gadgets at a time because it's bulky, that's why I wanted to only bring one. But of course, if I'm gonna buy an ipod touch 4th gen, I won't sell my phone and that will make me a bit hard time to save money for the iPod Touch 4th Gen. Oh, and also don't recommend me iPhone, I can't afford it. And also, I think, I don't need some of the high-tech apps of SE Xperia X10 Uhm,,, just having a hard time in chosing those two. In the past week I have had two complete nervous breakdowns because of college related stress. My boyfriend and I recently moved into our first apartment, and we've paid all of our bills on time, had no issues that were very big until the fall semester started and within the first week not only did I have to dish out fifteen hundred dollars out of pocket because the university lost a paper that was required to verify class payment, now I'm finding out that I have signed up for a major VERY wrong for me. I've had two years college experience prior to transferring to my current university. I was at a community college and they were far more professional in dealing with financial matters. I'm going to have grey hair and I'm not even legal drinking age yet.. I chose to major in education to become an elementary teacher when I transferred because I had gotten all of my basics out of the way and I'm very comfortable dealing with young children, not to mention the recent recession had me thinking about jobs that don't normally suffer as much during fluctuations in the economy. Teaching has a great deal of financial security on top of guaranteed vacation time on top of benefits the only downside is the stress factor can be high and it's for a lower end pay. But if it's something I can build off of then it's worth it, or so I thought. I walk into my classes and come to find out that even my previous science major classes when I had been considering that field were far easier and less stressful than a writing intensive children's literature class. And I'm finding this really ironic and completely horrifying because my best subject has always been literature and English. I've never made less than an A in those classes. So the problem is now I know I need to change my major as not only am I incapable of taking fifteen hours of complete brain overload classes one of which being Spanish which I didn't want to take in the first place because I'm interested in other languages and hated it in high school. I've spent over two years trying to find out what I want to do for a career or even for a major. I've taken tests on the Internet, tests given by the school, I've searched the Internet, researched book stores, all-in-all gone to great effort to find ANYTHING that I might be interested in but anything I liked was immediately in the "get lucky" category as in you cannot make money in this job unless you have outstanding talent and charisma, both of which I lack--charisma considerably. I'm artistic, but I don't want to starve. Really it's becoming ridiculous and I'm going to college, wasting my hard earned money in the hopes that I can secure something that will keep me out of debt and then some in the future, but I'm kind of giving up unless I can find something. I love to draw so I considered some type of design, but if I become a designer I'm afraid I'll grow to hate the hobby I love now because I'll have someone above me, or a client who will say jump and I'll have to ask how high as that is the part they tend to leave out when telling you how wonderful and creative design jobs are. I want some direction yes, but I also want a lot of freedom if I'm using my creative skills in a job. Also I enjoy writing, but the same issue comes into play there too. I'm a huge video game fan and I think it might be a little fun to be a video game designer because it involves a story, visual, and audio art, but the university I'm attending doesn't offer it, and I can't go somewhere else because my boyfriend is going to school here and I have to consider him as well. (Of course he's thrilled because he's known exactly what he's wanted to do since he was five, be a wildlife biologist.) It isn't that I haven't thought about it, I've thought about what I want to do with my life since as long as I could remember, but every time I came to a conclusion I did a little research and in the end the cons outweighed the pros. Does anyone have any suggestions? My favorite things to do are clean, organize, draw, read, be early on all of our bills, crochet, create things in general. I just like to have low stress, it gives me a sense of acomplishment as apparently me being stressed out is increasing more and more. Like just now I'm sitting here typing this, heard a car run into something outside and am stressing that some ignorant first year student hit my car which is parked because it's happened before just last year when some idiot ripped the front bumper off of my parked car because they weren't paying attention. Anyway sorry if I sounded overly pessimistic, I'm just really stressed and I want to know if college is a waste of time and if I shouldn't just go to a tech school or something. I'm a senior in high school and i'm just starting to look at college. i'm interested in game design, particularly the guy who writes everything. The story, characters, dialogue, ETC. i would imagine that i would have to be able to do much more than that in order to be a game designer, even if i am just the writer. I'm not interested in the programing side of design, but i do think i should learn more about the art of game design (level mapping, character creation, ETC.). So to be a game designer that a company would want to hirer, what do i need to know? do i even need to learn any graphic design? am i wrong, and would be able to just write? What classes do i need to take? I currently have no computer experience. could that be a problem, or will they teach me the basics in college? also, what else other careers similar to game design could i end up in? Hi, I am a newly graduated high school student and am currently enrolled to start my first semester at the local community college in a few days. I have been troubled with figuring out a career to pursue, but I have a fear that I will not like it and would have paid for classes towards that major, but then would want to switch majors, thereby extending the amount of time I have to spend at a university to get my degrees AND upping my financial aid amount to pay back later. The goal I'm trying to reach is to find a career option that I feel I may actually enjoy, would have financial stability once I'm in the field, and decent to high job placement/wanted rate (as to make sure I have a chance of getting a job in this economy). Because I am not sure what I want to major in yet, I have decided to start my 'general studies' classes at the community college level and listed my degree as "Associate of Arts," as to save money, still be working towards the end goal, no matter what I choose to major in (since everyone has to take general classes at any level college for any major), and receive basically the same education. I have done some serious research time online with careers in areas of my interests, but everything I have found seems so vague or generic. I am hoping that you people at Yahoo! Answers may be able to help with your real-world experiences and name some careers to study that are interesting, relevant to one of my interests (or more than one if they mesh), and also provide the financial stability, job output rate, etc that I listed earlier. My interests include: Video games Computers Technology Music (have played saxophone for 8 years, and counting. Been first chair throughout middle school and high school) Psychology (I like learning how people think and why they do the things they do) Animals I've seen career options like graphic design, sound design, music education, music therapy, psychologist, etc. Those are the types of majors that seem just so generic, vague or almost unusable in this economy. For example: I don't even really know what a graphic designer does or how because I've never taken any classes on it, but I know it deals with computers, I could use it towards video game design, which would mesh my video game interest. However, I am terrible at drawing, so I don't think anything like that could work out. Same thing with sound design and video games. Except with that, I could mix my passion for music with my technology and video game interests by making game soundtracks. However, even though I enjoy music, I have read up on it and it seems like one of those careers that takes luck or a huge amount of skill to get a good gig in. You know, with the big boys like EA and whatnot. With something like music therapy, the job output just isn't anything near stable, and I'd have a very hard time making money with that kind of career. Sure, it might be kind of cool...but where have you seen the last local musical therapist? Exactly. It's factors like those that scare me the most about my future, and I just want to make sure I'll be okay once I get out of the safety of college, as well as happy with my career that i'll have to deal with for the next 30+ years (if I ever decide what I want to do and get into the college life and leave my house). I hope some experienced adults can help me with some ideas or tips :(...because if I don't make my mind up soon, I'll miss out on the college experience (you know...the best 4 years of your life), fall very behind in graduation time and won't be able to find the right college for me in the first place. =( Please help. I am a high school student, and am going to college next year. To this day, I am unsure about which college to attend, as well as not knowing which career path to major in. This is what I need an opinion in. First and foremost, I love to play video games. If I could, I would play them all day. This is certainly my most prominent skill and hobby. I like to play them and talk about them. I have thought about going into game design, but I have realized that I like to play the games rather than make them. I also have an extremely overactive imagination. I tend to lean towards fantasy elements whenever I think about something though... I have recently discovered that I can use this fantasy mindset to develop stories...I am able to think quickly and type up or write a short story, which could possibly develop into a writing career. I also have a rather large vocabulary, which could certainly contribute to this. One of my dream jobs would be to appear on a TV show, such as Attack of the Show or some other program that has a video game mindset. This would be a compilation of everything I want - talking about video games, being on international television, and being able to go to gaming conventions such as E3. Please excuse my arrogance, but I know that I am an intelligent person. I believe that I could learn almost any skill if it were taught to me properly. I have made straight A's all through elementary school and high school, thus far. I plan to hold on to that streak, and use it to my advantage. One of the biggest details I would like to add is that I want to use my intelligence in order to be in a career in which I can make a lot of money. So, sorry for the long description, but could anybody give me insight on what kind of job I should look into? Thanks so much in advance! EDIT: I would also like to add that I thoroughly enjoy MMORPGs, like Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. If there is any way this interest could be turned into a career, that would be great to have some insight into that as well. @Lilly: By saying that I am intelligent, I did not mean that I knew everything. I simply meant that I am able to learn quickly and retain information well. @Magnus: I consider myself pretty good at math, but I am also a funny person. I am usually able to make people laugh within the first few moments of meeting them. Another thing, I am able to learn how to play a video game rather quickly, and I pride myself in my ability to play most video games with skill. Hello everyone,my general question is when we are going to colonize space. I am a sophmore in highschool taking classes so i can have my associates once i am 17 along with my high school diploma from there i want to get my masters or doctors in several things at once including astronomy, astrophysics, quantum physics, and aerospace enginnering. after college or right before i am thinking about joining the airforce to help me learn the trade. I want to work at nasa and with nasa. I am also having a fall back degree witch involves graphic design and video game creating. I am 15 now and hope to be done by the time i am like 25-26, but i will always study and take some college classes through out my life to refresh myself. any way i said all this because well i want to discover, or invent something to make space colonization possible this century. I even will volenteer myself to go to mars, the moon, or alpha centauri to be a colonial. I am just wondering when does NASA plan to start colonizing mars and stuff. I think that we need 2 planets at least because right now if something were to happen to earth we would all be destroyed. My idea is to colonize first the moon, mars, venus, and alpha centauri . we should start with the moon in 2020, mars, 2030, venus, 2045-2050, and alpha centauri, 2065-2080. i believe nasa should get like 4 times more funding than it has now or better yet 1 space agency basically kind of like the UN. with the enough terraforming we could terraform everything in like 20 years. i understand you couldnt terraform the moon becuase gravity but you could build domes made out of like carbon nano-tube. mars you could just somehow jump start the magnetic poles again, witch i think could be done by nuking the core or something. (i believe million of years ago mars was habitable but the magnetic poles died and solar flares bombarded the plane. and venus we would have to cool it down mainly and if we could some how put trees in domes with the first towns there they would convert co2 to oxygen and i think after 100-150 years with the help of man venus in some parts look like a jungle. and alpha centauri, well if we find a habitable planet there and we can travel even at half the speed of light we could get there in like 8 years. i know 2065-2080 is kind of close maybe then we could send temporary missions to terraform it if it needs it we could send the first settlers in around 2110-2130. basically i think by the end of this century we should have mars,venus, and the moon habitable and looking like something like how america looked in around the 1750's-1760's.. technology is growing very rapidly i mean every we have terabyte hard drives out!, not even heard of just 10 years ago. look how fast we grew in the 50's if we could invest in space and green technology to help bring jobs back around the world we could be so advanced by 2100. i have hope in human kind. i think by 2100-2150 mars will have several cities and lakes, but it and venus wont look like earth completley untill like 2200. what does everyone else think. more

Here's the deal: I've been dating my boyfriend for a little over a year and a half. We're about to start senior year of high school. He's a nice guy and he's crazy in love with me, but lately I've been feeling apathetic and even trapped in the relationship. I enjoy hanging out with him most of the time, but sometimes it feels more like an obligation than something I really desire. I don't look forward to it, but I don't dread it either. When he went out of town for a week this summer, I didn't really miss him. It also makes me uncomfortable sometimes because I feel like he loves me a lot more than I love him. I feel like saying "I love you" isn't completely truthful. Also, last week I went out of town for a week long conference and the freedom I had to do what I wanted, when I wanted, with whoever I wanted, without having to update or answer to my boyfriend was so liberating. On top of that, I met a guy that I became very attracted to. I didn't cheat on my boyfriend but this guy and I did quite a bit of time getting to know each other just the two of us, and he was very flirty and touchy, but that's partly just his personality. Now that I'm home I can't stop thinking about him. I've texted him and talked to him a little bit on facebook, but not excessively. It worries me though...what does it say about my relationship that I fell so easily for a new guy? To make matters worse, my boyfriend does have a jealousy problem. I do hang out with a lot of guys and often I feel like I have to hide my friendships with them. He doesn't flat out forbid me to do anything, but he makes me feel guilty for talking to them or hanging out with any guys when he's not around. He is always asking things like "what did so-and-so mean when I wrote that on your wall?". But despite this we HAVE had a happy relationship. He's a very nice guy and I love him but I'm not sure if I'm IN love with him. I want him as a part of my life but I don't know if I want him to BE my life. I'm an intellectual looking to make a difference in the world, he wants to spend the rest of his life designing video games. When I fell for him, he was shy and insecure but the sweetest guy I'd ever met, now that he has gained confidence he has somewhat of a mean streak (not to me, but sometimes to my friends). I don't believe in long distance relationships so we won't stay together past college, so this relationship won't last forever anyways. I just don't know if I want to keep it going for another year. Between this guy and the two relationships before it, I haven't been single since the beginning of freshman year. I'm afraid that I don't know my identity alone, and I haven't had the chance to experience high school without a boy wrapped around my arm. I've actually started looking forward to being alone for college. But I'm just so confused right now. I don't know if I really want to lose him yet A big problem with breaking up is that it won't be a clean break - we do theatre together at school and we'll have to see each other every day. I know that breaking up would really hurt him, and it would hurt me as well. I still do enjoy his company. He made me happy, and still does a lot of the time. Is it worth trying to make the relationship work? Is there any way to rekindle the passion? I'm so lost and confused. I don't want to have to end it but at the same time the relationship just doesn't always feel right. I'm sorry this is so long also - we haven't had sex, but we've done other stuff. I don't really desire that sort of stuff anymore though. it's just like - if it happens, it happens. more

I am currently 17 years old, and am soon to be in the 12th grade. I want to get into the Video game field. I would like to be a programmer or 3D modeler, anything that is really hands on in creating video games. I'm not one of those kids that thinks they are good at games so they would be good at making games. I realize that this field is difficult, and I really want to be successful in it. I am very concerned about performance and what kind of graphics the computer can shell out. My minor is video game design so it has to handle animation very well. Along with that it should have a large memory. I also would like a long battery life, if that is possible with max performance. Price is a concern since i am college student. All i need are links and an explanation and I can figure it out from there. I also don't really care what size the laptop is. Black is preferred. I know that technical colleges i.e. ITT Tech, DeVry, The Art Institute, etc. offers Bachelor degrees in Game Design and Development and Simulation and Game Programming. But I'm not interested in those type of schools. Does anyone know of a four year university that offers a Bachelor's degree in Game Design and Development or Simulation and Game Programming? Resolved Question: should i take college classes for my freshman year of highschool?

I have to meet with my counselor on september 17th and idk what I want to tell her. In my future I really want to be a pharmacist. So wouldn't it be faster to get the credits now? But then also, I don't know if I would want to. Because I've never been in any advanced classes. And jumping from freshman in highschool to freshman in college seems like a pretty big jump. I asked my mom what stuff she did in chemistry for her classes to become a nurse and everything she said, I had never heard of in my life. Is the material easy? If I took the classes would I have to write 12 page essays? Idk what to do. And now I'm questioning whether or not I should even be a pharmacist. 6 years of that sounds impossible. If I don't do that, is there any other job you'd recommend? I want to do computer programming but that's now. Because I try to code runescape private servers with java. But in 5 years id be way over that. So I don't know if id still want to. And I really love video games. But would I love designing them? That seems like it wouldn't be worth it. It'd get boring after a while like java. At least with pharmacy you're getting like 70$ an hour. That'd keep me motivated if I got through all the school. But if not what other job should I take? I'm really confused on what to do now :\ School starts in a few weeks and I'm a Junior and Trilingual with Spanish, English and Vietnamese. I'm taking College and AP classes and I have to be 100% sure otherwise I'm screwed over for my classes >.<];;;; ._____,];;; As a child, I wanted to become an artist. 10 years later, I'm really confused what to do. Over the past two years, I considered many things to major in but it's really hard :\ One of my worst habits is trying things. I will keep trying until I get it right. Unfortunately, it backfired so now I'm sort of multi-talented in the Fine Arts. My friends are amazed at how simple my ideas start out and end up becoming something completely different in the end, making it stand out from others. It's just that I want to do something that others will remember out of all the projects. Currently here are some things I am considering: Computer Technician Graphic Design Audio/Video/Film Production Video Game (not sure which part) I have a couple of experience in those. Graphic Design and Film Production I know very well. I know things that can catch people's attention and I know how long the process it to film and edit the video along with different camera angles. I would have to say that I was more serious with Filming because that class was pretty hard for me, even if it was the only final I actually studied for and got a 79 @___@];; We never did paper work (besides story boarding) in that class and always did hands on work. Video game I don't know that much about as of now. I wanted to work for Square Enix but then I saw how many people were trying so I back out. I wanted to work for them because I had fun playing their games. Voting Question: Need Studying Tips for College?

I am a Computer Science Major entering my Sophomore year. I entered first semester as a physics major but was forced to drop Physics when the work became more than I could handle. I changed my major to Computer Science in second semester (I took 12 credits both semesters). I am already left with two classes that I will have to make up later on in a 5th year--since the major is so tight, I have no free credits. This semester I have 5 courses. Last semester I only had two hard courses and an easy course. The hardest course was, ironically, my computer programming course which would take me approximately 30-40 hours each week to complete the assignments, read the book, etc. If it had not been for the programming projects (which took roughly 20-30 hours each week), I would have been able to take 16 credit hours with no problem. This semester I have 17 credits, but I can no longer afford to drop any classes (since all of the classes I am taking are prerequisites to courses I will need to take in the future). Switching my major is not an option because I feel very passionate about Computers and Mathematics and would like to get into Video-game design or machine AI programming. I know that with practice, I will get better at programming, but until then I need to get faster at reading. I have trouble with picking out the important information and end up writing up a study-guide for the chapters and then I usually do pretty well. I also have never studied math before in my life (since math in my high school is very easy), and I have no idea how to study for it. Lately, I have just been reviewing the notes and going over practice problems (I study about 12-20 hours for Calculus exams). I do homework with every spare minute I have and am comfortable doing 52 hours of homework per week (not including time spent in class). I am very organized and get stressed out with my programming projects because (as all you computer science majors out there know) if the project doesn't compile or has an error, the error may take anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 hours to fix. I need help for dealing with stress for due dates and reading and studying faster, especially with Calculus (I'll be taking Calc III this semester). more

I'm a senior in high school and am trying to find the college that's right for me. I already know exactly what I want to major and minor in and what I want to do with my life. I am just having a difficult time determining where I want to go. In the long run, I want to be a video game designer. To accomplish that I want to either double major/triple minor, or triple major/triple minor. (don't worry these all work into bettering myself as a designer. I want to triple major in: Computer Science (to get the programming aspect) Graphic Design (this is the optional one, but it will allow me to work with computer art software) Mathematics (to give me outside knowledge to manipulate programs that don't do what I want them to) and triple minor in: German (to give me a foreign language, I might take some Japanese courses on the side) Physics (to allow me to create better game physics) Creative Writing (this one could also be optional and taken as elective courses, to allow me to come up with more complete story lines) I am in the top three of my class, and hard work is no problem for me. I really don't know what I am suppose to do, I have a job where i make decent money, but I want more, I want to be able to make more, spend less time busting my butt off, and most importantly i want to find what it is that i enjoy doing.. I don't really know what that is and i understand that no one can tell me what i like to do, but there has to be a way to find out what i enjoy doing and how to turn it into a career. The list of things i like to do are as follows.. 1) web design and programming (not very good and have a degree in this) - not really what i want to do with my life I think. 2) Playing video games, I know it's sad but I enjoy it. 3) Reading and writing, I don't do a lot of either as I don't have the time for it due to my job and other interests. 4) watching movies, just something i enjoy 5) snowboarding/skateboarding ( neither of which I'm very good at anymore, but back about 10 years ago when I first started snowboarding I was in a lot of competitions, never won anything but never placed lower than 5th) 6) I enjoy talking to people and getting to know them and of course if this helps, when i was younger I dreamed of being a cop/detective/fbi agent, film maker, computer programmer, and video game designer. I have yet to make any of those dreams come true as all still apply to what i dream of. My biggest problem is I have a student loan I can't pay from past college courses and a ton of debt. i don't want to be a loser for the rest of my life, I just don't know what I'm suppose to do. My life is changing - I am now working a sales job that includes presentations and eventually will include video conferencing from home, going back to college to take Web Design/Development, and still have the multi-use issues of my "normal" computer usage. I am not a MAC fan, so the Apple products are not what I am looking for, my last ten computers have been HP. I need a fast (to very fast) processor, am intrigued by the new 1TB hard drives, and it will have to be able to run multiple apps simultaneously. Which of the new processors should I look for? How important is it to get 6GB+ DRAM? Does the built-in wireless connector replace my current wireless reciever? Is the 1TB hard drive worth the money? Some of the software I will be using is MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, also probably QuickBooks Pro, and various other gaming (non-large file type), email, presentation software. Oh, I forgot, also MS Dynamics CRM. Help! PS - Please keep in mind two things - I'm old (52) and I don't have an unlimited budget. Well, like a lot of people, i really want to work in the gaming industry. I would love to answer the "what do you do" questions with something like "well, i design levels for video games". I've looked on various developer's websites (all of which are in USA -_-) to look at skills and qualifications required, and most of them can be learned at colleges or universities here in the UK. However, i'm not really in a situation where i can afford to go to uni, i have no money and my parent's couldn't afford to help me either. I was wondering what the chances of finding an apprenticeship (or an internship?) in gaming are. How would i go about finding one? I've seen one internship advertised at Obsidian in USA, but i couldn't afford to move country on an internship's wage, so i pretty much need to get the qualifications here, which seems impossible unless you have contacts or money. This internship also already requires knowledge of coding and a portfolio, but i obviously cannot do these things yet, i want to learn how. So, long question cut short. Resolved Question: NY state disability awarded, now a question regarding it.?

My cousin lives in NY state and just was awarded disability. They will reevaluate him in three years. Can he do online college, or are there rules about trying to increase your abilities so you can get off of disability that would prohibit him from going to college online. His health problem is one he will have the rest of his life--unless we learn to clone our own organs for transplant and gets a heart--he'll still be on disability. He wants to study video game design and graphics since it's something he could do that wouldn't aggravate his condition, but he needs to go to college for that. more
