As the title says. Im looking for a MMORPG that is free to play. After playing World of Warcraft & Runescape, I have a large taste to play these MMO games. And after reading an article on the expanding market of free to play MMOs I wanted to try one. However, I found all the ones I tried to be lacking in quality so bad that I found alot of them unplayable. I want to find a fun and well designed MMO game that comes at no cost. im 17 and about to start my A levels. my passion is game design ever since i was a child i was obsessed with hows games work and what goes it to making them and trying to make my own. i would say i am at average intelligence and to be honest dont think i will make it into university which is probably what i will need to do to get a decent job in game design. i dont know what else i would even want to do in life if game design does not work out for me, the only thing that i am slightly considering is aeronautical engineering in the navy but it does not make me tick the way game design does. is there any advice you can give me to go for these careers? or any advice to finding another career option? more

All the Primary weapons are fine I am not worried about those... but like Perk1: Bling Pro, etc, etc Perk2: Etc, etc Perk3: Scrambler, etc, etc... Special Grenade?: Stun, Semtex, Frag, etc Deathstreak: Last Stand, Painkiller, Matrydom??, etc etc and also where does a blast shield fall under? I am trying to design some classes and can't find a list that I can access at work. (i.e. no forums or gaming sites) Thanks again for any help! Mr David Cox is on the right track... Hello all, Im gonna keep this short n sweet but mostly to the point. I am looking for a skilled SC 2 Player, I have a Doubles Team ready but we are looking for a 3rd player. Firstly you will be attending alot of matches as my current team member may not be able to and if you play better then him and we work well together you will take the primary match spot. I am looking for a skilled gamer in within the EU must be 16+ able to travel, commited to practice and match times. I know we have RL commitments so im not expecting like 11 hours a day of play time, but i am expecting at the mimimum a couple of hours every night or every other night depending on commitments. Must haves = Good gaming PC, GB (game battles) account, Skype + Mic, Fluent in english, knows Macro's and has a great APM (Actions Per Minute). I am a Zerg player so i need a gamer who can play well with me. We will be attending at least 10 - 20 clan matches a week MINIMUM. Now as for the main goal, like many gamers I want my team to go professional and the ultimate gaol wud be to compete in South Korean Pro Cricuits. Myself and the team are Sponsered, so we do have a sponser at the moment and i have 8 companys at the moment who are interested in sponsering us, but want to see how we cope in GB matches first. I am not naming any sponser's yet, you will know who they are when you join the team, but these sponsers are willing to fund us with travel fee's to tournements and brand new gaming PC parts for free. Hi All, I am based in the UK and I have designed an online skilled gaming website that works in a competition concept for cash prizes. I built a beta version and all the games with my own money. The beta trial worked pretty well however I have come to the end of my teather with financials and the amount I have to take it to market is very little. I have spoken to the UK government who promise millions to startups etc but its impossible to get a grant, loans are not the route I want to go down at this point however I would really be interested in a venture partner to invest and work with me on making this project a success. I am looking to buy a computer, however i know naff all about them =) I am a apprentice graphic designer and make mostly print adverts with CS4 master collection , mainly photoshop tho although sometimes i am required to use After Affects to make animated adverts. I am looking to buy a computer that runs photoshop quickly without jumping at all. BUT most IMPORTANTLY runs games quickly without jumping at all. I will be using the computer to play games and sometimes do work at home. I like playing MMORPGS and FPS games such as WoW, Call of duty: MW2 and would like to play Crysis. I have been told of the specs of my computer at work and would like something similar for a cheap price. Here are my work computer specs: 600W PSU / INTEL i5-750 CPU (OC @ 4.0Ghz) / 4GB MEMORY / 500GB HARD DRIVE / RADEON 5770 - 1GB GRAPHICS / DVD WRITER / ONBOARD SOUND / WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM i am still a student so the cheaper the better =) i have found this computer do you think this will do the job. could anyone advise me on any computer deals or computers that meet my requirements. Okay its a film about a game. In this game there is like this writing at the begginning that the player has to read aloud. Then they each design there character. If you die in the game you die in real life. someone at the beginning gets hung. It turns out its this really creepy lady and if you kill her in the game you kill her in real life and vice versa. Each of the main characters start to die one by one. Does anyone know the name of this film? hi,, im looking for a laptop for around any price budget between 1000-1500 pounds as im going to a boarding college and i need a nice laptop to keep me happy i love playing music and hd vids so it needs good speakers and a big hard drive to store it all along with a nice 1080p screen if acheivable i occasionaly love playing games such as empire total war etc so it needs to be fast :) so it needs to handle that on reasonable graphics and im also looking for a very cool design not huge and chunky and plain boring i was loooking at the dell studio xps 16 but i really dont know,, i saw the alienware mx17 but people are saying its really heavy and bulky even though its quite coool asus look okay and i would consider macbook pro if someone persuaded me. i just need everyones honest opinion because i will have this laptop for a while, this is the reason why i am spending this amount of money on one because i want it to be top of the range but can macbook pro's run games?? such as empire total war or arma 2 is the 15" better than 17" people said that the 17" has lower grade processer than 15" more

Sorry, I couldn't decided where to post this question... What so you think? And why? I'm actually thinking a little far ahead but I intend on studying Web design/development at university. I was thinking I'd prefer the portability of the 14" but at least with the 17" I'd have a better screen at all times, instead of just in my room. The 14" provides convenience but the 17" provides blu-ray and better gaming - I'm only a casual gamer mind but do have an increasing bluray collection. Perhaps an external drive would solve that for the 14"? But it's all cost... (All screens will be HD) Thanks for your opinion! more

My research project aims to explore the use of self-contained activities in FE Art & Design classes, possibly in a regular slot such as every Monday morning. These activities can range from skill-learning sessions to games that do not relate to the student’s project, to discussions on topical issues. Hello Everyone I need a little help in a debate two of friends started, one which I have no clue who is right in. My friends and I have been buying cross-stitch patterns/charts/kits over the years from different stores (lie A.C. Moore and JoAnns and once upon a time from Rag Shop when it was around). One of my friend's daughters decided that she would like to use some of the patterns to make framed cross-stitch and then sell it. (Meaning she would sell the finished product she made not the pattern or kits or charts - just to clarify). Now her mom says she can't do that even though the patterns were purchased at craft stores but one of my other friends said that if you purchase them (such as Dimensions designs) from craft stores that they are fair game to make and sell as long as you are not selling the patterns/charts/kits? Who is right? I, myself, would think that it is ok to do as long as you aren't selling someone else's designs as your own design just your own hand stitching but at the same time I'm not sure if they are considered one and the same? My initial plan was to go to James Watt and do a degree in games development, but I don't think my SQA exams are going to go as well as I planed, as I was hoping to do my higher's, in Maths and Graphic Communication next year. So I looked into other options, and then I came across Futureworks. I looked at the Foundation Course in game art, as if you finish this you can develop a folio which may be used to gain access to the BA (Hons) Games Design course. But the problems lies with me living in Scotland, and I'am only 16. So if was wondering if you can get funding to study down in Manchester? I am looking for a book that teaches C++ to absolute beginners. I have never programmed before but want to learn it in relation to video game design, so a book tailored to that aspect of programming would be ideal. I have bought 'The Idiot's Guide to C++' which is an excellent book but it is an old edition and much of the syntax is out of date. I also have a copy of 'C++ Programming for the Absolute Beginner, Second Edition' by Mark Lee but have found it difficult to use as it doesn't seem that many of the examples have been tested and built and, when written display build errors. If anyone has any suggestions at all I would very much appreciate but please try to keep suggestions to fairly recent books as I know there are some books considered 'Programming Bibles' but I would like to learn the latest version of C++ without having to refer to many resources just to fix and update the book. Hi I joined a new company 7 weeks ago my job is designing and selling Kitchens direct to the public, I very much like the work, potential commissions, top class product and the company, the company provide all leads from a 1000 pounds money off voucher via tele sales staff. however!..... The system seems wierd in some way, unless i close a deal on the actual night, I get nothing, a trade guy goes in the next few days and clinches a deal with further discounts and I get nothing for my 4 hour presentation as I did not close on the actual night. So far in 5 weeks I have sold 6 kitchens and four more that the trade guy stole from me the next day. Of these, 3 failed credit, 2 cancelled and one went through after the manager gave a further discount. The net result for me is ZERO in commission despite 6 sales and 3 actual sales they day after by trade sales. Is this some sort of scam or a way of filtering many impulse leads for the trade guy to close on, am I just wasting my time? I am allowed to drop the top price by 40% but i find most people will just not sign on the night and if I persuade them to sign on the night as the company require then they cancel and I get zero commission again. seems like a catch 22 to me. Why does the company do this, the staff turnover s enormous as designers/sales guys can't earn enough, but the company gets three bites at every client who shows interest, are we just low paid filters for the trade sales guy?. Okay, I've been wanting a tattoo for a few years now, and have went through a few designs that don't compare or hold enough significance as the one I am going to describe right now. Although I only came up with it a few weeks ago, I think it's pretty original so I'm not going to tell everyone exactly what it is - but no, it isn't a Pokemon, it is one of the elements within the Gameboy games. Anyway, it represents a few things to me and more (if I can get the glow in the dark part done also): 1. Pokemon was the first game I ever played on Gameboy, and my parents were responsible for that. I was hooked ever since. 2. Because of that, I spent countless hours playing and collecting Pokemon, and hunting for Pokemon things and buying them one summer was the first instance I ever remembered what I did in Hong Kong 3. my boyfriend played Pokemon too, and he was the first boyfriend to ever treat me like a girlfriend. what I'm getting is specifically from the game he let me play for him, which sent me back into the sqing of Pokemon. 4. because of how he is my "first" in many ways, I wouldn't regret it if we ever broke up for what ever reason - it would have been great while it lasted. 5. there are many more reasons why the tattoo would be meaningful to me, but I can't say much without giving it away. I want to keep it as a surprise until I get it. that is, if I do. I've spoken to my parents already, and although they don't really approve, they understand that it's my body and whatever I do, I will have to live with it for the rest of my life. Besides, I am 19. The Pokemon wrist tattoo is pretty much the majority of my childhood in a nutshell, with more meanings that can apply to life in quite a few philosophical viewpoints. I've spoken to my friends about it, and all of my girl friends approve. Some guys did not, and my boyfriend, surprisingly, doesn't approve at all. Hi. I'm from Poland and I'm 18. Next year I'm planning to start at some university. The problem is, I cannot choose the right one... I would like to work as a 3D Artist, making games, or working in a Film as a 3D Model Artist. I would also like to attend to a good university, preferably in London, but may be in the rest of UK as well. I know one of the best is Full Sail in US, but I think it's too far, plus the fees are a bit pricey.. I checked up some of the London's Universities, and Imperial seems ok, but there is no such thing as Game Design or even similar. Everywhere I see there's Computer Science.. There is one school in Huddersfiels, UK offering such a degree, but I don't think it's any good. Even Oxford has only Computer Science, nothing more. What should I do ? Please, help! Any ideas? more

Voting Question: Does anyone know about getting a degree in video game design or development?

Here's a little background. I'm Mexican, I've lived in Mexico all my life (contrary to what narrow-minded Hollywood says, we don't want to get across the US border to "steal" jobs from them). I have a bachelor's degree in Computing Sciences at La Salle University. Later I found the first Latinamerican school about video games and decided to get that bachelor's degree as well. Since it was the first and they were only starting, a bachelor's degree was their only offer. Unfortunately, this school later went through some quite tough growing pains and dropped the video games part of it, leaving only the part about animation and digital art. I've explored other options, but the industry doesn't quite exists here yet, certainly there's no education or school of any kind about it. Since I'm not interested in making movies (either with a group of friends or Pixar) and I'm in no position to move to another country, I was wondering if anyone out there knows about any online degree that applies to video games. Resolved Question: ps3 problems when will it be fixed?

Hello anyone got a problem with their ps3. I bought mine on 28/10/2007 cost £349.99 at the time with 1 game great bargain NOT!! and now the stupid thing has fuked up. Playstation helpline said the older models have went bonkers due to the date. I cant even play any of my games offline, coz the damn thing says it has to sync trophys. I dont care about the shitty trophys . I can remember everyone slagging off the xbox 360 coz of its major overheating fault, most people laughed and said should have bought a ps3. I have just found out apart from this older ps3 date malfunction that there is another fault called the yellow light of death. Google it it seems to be happening to the old systems and was also on watchdog. I have the 60gb model and have no problems apart from the fan constantly on full blast as soon as i switch it on, even if im using if to watch a dvd. I wonder why this fault is happening to the older ps3 is thi a setup so we have to fork out more money. Hi there, Okay basically im thinking/wanting to work in the ICT field of work when i leave college, but I really do not have a clue where to start. I do not even know which field interests me the most whether it be software design, hardware design, game design, software programming.. the list is pretty long! It would be a portable games console, kind of like an iPad in physical design, only about 1 and 1/2 inch thick, with a thin, wireless controller that pops out of the side. Would probably be smaller than an iPad. About a 9-10 inch screen. I'm doing a project at school, where we have to design a concept product, and then set a price for it, and advertise and 'sell' the idea to other people at school. The more money we make, the higher the mark. Obviously we wouldn't be actually making this, or selling it, we'd just be doing everything else involved with making and selling it. So, for example, if someone saw an advert, an would buy it if it was made for the given price, they tell us, and we note it down, and then add up all the 'sales' So I wanted to know whether you thought this would be a good idea to use. I came up with the idea ages ago, before the project came up. I was thinking of what portable console to buy, and my brother asked why I wanted to get a portable one, the screen's are always too small for the games to be enjoyable. And I thought it'd be good if someone made a portable console with a decent sized screen. I originally thought it'd be a kind of laptop design, with a flip up screen, but then I realised how ridiculous it'd look with all that blank space where the keyboard is on a laptop, so I thought of a tablet, with just a screen, and then maybe a protector that pulls off and slots on the back (like a calculator's protector) and so to explain the tablet screen concept, I said the iPad, as that's the only thing existing that would be like this. The controller would be a double joystick thing, with two buttons either side and two buttons on the top (like a DS, PSP), an oblong about 5-6 inches long, 3 inches wide and about three quarters of an inch deep. It'd have no batteries, and would charge if plugged into the console when the console is charged. When I said 'like an iPad', I did add 'physically'. By this I meant that it looks like an iPad (like a tablet type thing, more of just a screen), it wouldn't be like an iPad in any other way. more

Resolved Question: Working from garage at home ?

I have a garage at the bottom of my property and we had and extension to it 8 months ago. I converted the inside of the new section as the old section was already converted inside (No structural changes just plastered and painted) this was to be a cinema room and games room. The garage was 20ft by 20ft and the extension added another 20ft by 22ft t so around (840sq ft). I have now thought about using half of it for work (Graphic design (80%), canvas (Wall pictures) printing (15%), a bit of website design (5%). There will be no customers visiting, 1 small royal mail delivery a week, no waste, no noise and I have no staff (All done via a website). Voting Question: What font is best suited for a child programme promoting healthy eating + excercise?

I am creating my own logo for this programme which is aimed at small children tackling them away from video games etc for my graphics project. The programme itself is fake however, i have designed characters etc for it and now need to create a logo so i can make some products. Please suggest some font i could use in the logo which would appeal to young children. I basically need a "different" font than those given in the standard OS such as comic sans... which appeals to young children... more

Resolved Question: I need some advice on what to do next...?

I'm just finishing up my A-levels now, and they're looking OK, not great, but OK. I have wanted to be a video game artist, maybe a designer, for many years now. I've thought I've been on the right track but I've hit a dilemma. I want to hold back from going to University for a year, to get some money together for it. I really need to know if a Year 0 course in Fine art would help me reach my goal. The other option is I pay 3k a year for 2 years to do a foundation degree in Digital Art and Design, and 2 years is just too long for me. Also, how would I find out if one University course is more suited to my job than another, because one course is called Game Art, and the other is called Games art and design. They are at separate Universities, one is better than the other according to that Times leaderboard thing. It's all just confusing me I feel like I need to sit someone down and get them to tell me what I should do. I'm completely lost. And to add to it, I need to apply privately, since the UCAS application deadline has now been and gone. I didn't miss the deadline this year, I applied and when the interview came the deadline was over and in the interview I found out that it was the wrong type. more

Voting Question: Need help - game design courses?

My boyfriend who is almost 19 is currently taking a computing course at college, but has quite recently got into game design. He has looked online for some courses in game design, but they are very costly after the age of 18. He isn’t keen on going to Uni, but rather is eager to get into a full time job soon; however, he really wants to get into the game design side of computing. When I suggested learning from home on a course, possibly Open University, he seemed attracted to that idea also. I would be very appreciative if someone could point us in the right direction and supply us some information about what Game Design courses are available, preferably home study ones, and what that would entail, as I am sure he is frustrated with his current situation.
