im getting married soon and need to get my flowers sorted. a friend is willing to make the bouquets, but i need to provide the flowers!!! how many do i need?? p.s i want to use artifical flowers moreResolved Question: Opinions please - is this a silly reason to avoid a wedding dinner, or what?
A bride and groom are having a very small registry wedding - just them and three friends. The bride suggests having dinner at a local restaurant afterwards - not a specially reserved expensive room or anything; just a table for five in a nice place for lunch. The groom objects for the reason that he thinks it would be shameful to go to a public restaurant and have people see that their wedding group was so small. The bride is very hurt by this, and thinks it sounds as though he is ashamed of marrying her, and that it shouldn't matter who sees them celebrating their wedding no matter how small the group. Do you or do you not think that the groom's reason is silly? The bride will not be in a huge white dress with a huge bouquet or anything - just a simple dress, as will the other lady in the group. The men will just be in nice suits. What's the big deal for him? He wants to have dinner at their home instead, but this won't be as special for the bride. Wouldn't you think he could just stick it out for her sake? They can afford the dinner out and everything - for him it's just all about the 'shame'! Before anyone says that it's their decision - I know that. I'm just concerned, because the bride is already upset that her family don't want to come to her wedding and his can't because they live too far away. I just thought he could at least consider her feelings and try to make a nice day for her as a 'bride' (it's only going to happen once, after all) despite all the other horrible things that have happened for them. Albert: OK, fair point. But if they can afford it, and it's only lunch, is there really any reason NOT to have it? Surely you wouldn't like someone trying to tell you that you couldn't have something YOU thought was nice and fitting for a life event of yours? Han: Yeah...the groom is actually the one who WANTED the smaller wedding. He is now trying to make it EVEN smaller than before by cutting out the restaurant. The meal would be the only real 'celebration' type-thing that the bride would have, because they can comfortably afford a nice meal out for five but not a huge reception and loads of guests, if you see what I mean! 1234: Since when is being less than "loaded" rich shameful? I'm assuming you're a millionaire who wouldn't settle for anything less than a palace for your wedding, then?... Oh, and isn't it possible that they could have CHOSEN to have a small wedding? I know people with loads of friends who had tiny weddings, just because they wanted to. Ain't the power of choice a wonderful thing? ;) moreResolved Question: Wedding trouble...in laws driving me crazy what would you do?
Me and my fiance have been engaged for about a year and half and have decided to start planning our wedding but do it on a budget (I originally had my heart set on a big wedding and was going to wait a few years until we had more money but realised I could have the wedding of my dreams on a budget). Thing is, we have started talking to my fiance's family about it and all they've talked about is the stag do! They keep talking about going abroad to America (we like in the UK so quite far) and it's driving me up the wall. I feel like saying that it should be about our special day and all I've heard are all these ridiculously expensive ideas about going on this massive lads road trip for the stag do! Now this wouldn't usually bother me, and I'm not a bunny boiler that's trying to stop my man from having a good knee's up but it's seriously winding me up when I'm talking about making my own wedding bouquets and invites and everything and they're talking about spending thousands on a stag do! Also, my fiance is happy to just go away for the night to a sea side resort in the UK yet they're trying to talk him into this massive trip, and a lot of our friends have children and I know it's going to cause a massive rift between my friends if the men have to spend loads of money to go with my partner or they can't afford to go at all...What would you do in my position, I'm not sure if they're just trying to wind me up or something but they sound like they're pretty serious! =( moreResolved Question: how to preserve wedding bouquet?

Would it be OK to to for burgundy & ivory for our wedding then ivory and blue for our reception to match the venue's colours, or not? Thanks Messykatt: That was my original concern. Really don't want my bridesmaids looking like the Union Jack! Messykatt: I suggested lilac earlier to my fiance, but he won't stop joking about me putting everyone to sleep with my decision to incorporate lavender. I love it! A friend of mine said their bridesmaid had corsages instead of bouquet. a. to cut down costs b. cos they can where them all day instead of an hour c. she pressed them onto a thank you card for keepsake. Before we start, I do not like to think of myself as a freak. I may not be able to convince you that I'm just like you, but who's normal anyways? :D Since I can remember, I've always been able to see ghosts. For the most part, they're nice ghosts who have personalities and goals just like humans. Because they were once humans. They can't go to rest until someone helps them, so I try my best. One of them was a young man in his 20's whose wife died before their wedding. He wanted to give her flowers that he had picked before the wedding, but she was killed in a car accident on the way to their wedding. He had been chained to the spot where the flower shop was. He wanted a specific bouquet of flowers, but they did not have any in stock. The lady said they aren't easy to find any more. She told me where they have been spotted, and I searched a few areas and found enough for a medium-sized bouquet. I gave it to the man and he smiled and thanked me as he disappeared. Is this a mental disorder? What is this ability? moreResolved Question: Why is marriage so important?

What kinda questions will he want to ask us, and what should we ask him?? Just to give you an outline, I want to get married at a church near where my grandma lives where my grandfather is buried. I really want to marry there as it's a beautiful church and I'd really feel closer to my grandpa if I married there, I'd love to lay my bouquet on his grave after the church ceremony... =) We're going tomorrow to discuss the possibility of getting married there, as we don't live in the parish and neither of us are christened. (Our religion is church of england by the way). They are aware of this, and have said they may be willing to let us marry there providing we become members of the church, which we are more than willing to do. Saying they do allow us to marry there, what kinda questions are we likely to be asked, and what should we find out from the vicar?? I'm really clueless at this, so any help will be much appreciated!! Thanks xxx Geoff: How dare you talk about my deceased grandfather like that! You're nothing but a sick, twisted pr*ck. I have it in my head that I do not want to spend more than £5000 on my wedding (minus wedding dress as thats my parents contribution), so this is my idea. my partner and I live in the UK but he is originally from denmark so that is where I want to marry him - also because i prefer denmark to the UK. I have always wanted a church wedding and so does my partner so after the church wedding I thought the follwoing could happen - hire out our favourite restaurant in his home town, it is small and intimate but does great food! After the church service get all the guests to go there for drinks and nibbles, in the mean time my partner and I take a quick detour to visit his mums grave and lay my bridal bouquet there - i know that will mean a lot to him. Then we will go to the restaurant to meet our guests and have our sit down meal which would be prawn cocktail to start followed by steak and potatoes with this really nice danish wisky sauce and then dessert, and then just follow that with some music and a bit of a dance. would that be ok for a wedding? moreResolved Question: Poll; Who gets to carry the bouquet at the wedding , the bride or the groom ,,,,,anyone know .....?

I bought my wedding bouquet from an internet based company and wanted my bridesmaids bouquets to be made from the same flowers so I placed an order for them on January 8th 2009 and I still haven't received them. I emailed the lady who runs it and after waiting for weeks for a reply she advised that she and her husband had split up and that was the reason for the delay, I understood and waited but this was 2 months ago and all I've had since is promise after promise that they "are on their way" or "getting picked up this week" then when I email her to say I still haven't received anything I just get vague excuses like "something happened that caused a delay" . I didn't want to keep hassling her because she must be going through a hard time but the last email I got from her was nearly 5 weeks ago so I emailed twice this week and haven't had a reply, I've even called but can never get an answer so I left a message but still nothing. I paid through paypal but because I trusted her it is now way too late to claim my money back. Actually, thinking back, there was a really long wait to get my own bouquet and got promise after promise about the despatch date for that too so I filed a paypal dispute to make sure I got my flowers and hey presto they arrived 3 days later. Thing is, what can I do? She keeps promising she's sent/sending them and I get excuse after excuse about why it's not been done and can't get an answer from any of the telephone numbers and my wedding is only weeks away.
