Open Question: What is going through this ginger's mind?
I have been dating a guy for 3 months now. There's quite a big age difference between us, so at first I think we were both unsure of how long things would last and how our parents would react. However, we have fallen for each other much harder than I ever thought we would. I met his mom's side of the family two weeks ago, and since then, they (and my boyfriend) have wanted to include me in EVERYTHING (weddings, niece's graduation and gymnastics performance, etc.) And I think meeting his mom's family has brought me much closer to him. Ex. after seeing me interact with his nieces and nephews, he has mentioned several times how good of a mom I'd be and how he doesn't want me to move away like I'd planned after college graduation and how he wants to spend every day with me because I'm one the very few people he'll never get sick of-- things I can't imagine him saying a month ago! So, if I'm that important to him and if things went as well as he says with his mom, why wouldn't he want me to meet his DAD? Everytime he goes out to eat with him or does something with him, I'm not included. I feel hypocritical asking him because he has not met any of my family. This is because of the already mentioned age difference (I'm 18; he's 32). Please reserve your judgements on that aspect. But I feel like if he met my mom, I'd want him to meet my dad too (my parents are also divorced). So it's just confusing to me. What are your thoughts? moreOpen Question: Mom's okay to meet but not Dad?

Long story short, I was asked to be the best in a friend of mines wedding. The friendship has always been weird, since High school(30 now) I go without seeing or hearing from him for months at a time, at one point a year and half. There's always some excuse "I'm so busy", then he talks about how I never call him! Another factor is, he had a big falling out with a mutual friend which I am still good friends with so that's put me in the middle for like almost 4 years now. I've also gotten the feeling his family doesn't particularly like me either. I was asked to be his best man for his wedding(some one hes only know 6 months), this past february I reluctantly said yes. I was on face book looking at him and his bride to be, I realized "I don't know this person anymore". The weddings still aways away but I am really debating to "go through with it" or just to suck it up and do it. moreOpen Question: Are wizards allowed to join the SCA?
a friend of mine brought me to an SCA event to watch the fighters, and mentioned he wanted to join. Him and i both attend ren fairs, so we have the outfits to "blend in" however mine is wizard robes. They do site that they want historically accurate personas, and their were wizards around.. albeit, not the lightning from fingertips kind, but they were around to perform weddings, healings, etc etc. in short, i dont want to show up in mage robes and have everyone else fell i dont belong.. moreResolved Question: What condition is it when someone falls asleep at random times during the day even if not sleep deprived?
My father is 67 years old and I was born when he was 44. From the moment I can remember, he's always had a problem with sleep. My mom says this is true even from when he was younger. Like, we would go see movies and he'd zone out almost instantly when the lights went out. This wasn't usually due to being tired as far as I knew. He was just at my house recently and we were talking and it was a totally engaging conversation. I then turned to watch the TV for a few minutes and there he was all comfy dozing off. I can poke him and he'll snap out of it (depending on how long he's been that way) and he'll semi-consciously answer a few questions, but still be partially out of it. If I leave him alone for like 15 minutes he'll just keep sleeping and then come find me in 30 minutes seemingly very well-rested. What condition is this? I mean, my mother has also told me she thinks he is suffering from insomnia, but I don't think that's the case. He sometimes has issues with being a "night-person" and not going to sleep until very late, but I don't think his problem comes from not being able to get a full night of sleep. What kind of sleep disorder do you think he could have? It's just totally weird that for the 23 years I've known him he dozes off as long as he's in a comfortable position. He can be easily awakened if he's dozing off at Camden Yards, for instance, which he has, and then Nick Markakis has hit a home run. My father will easily pay attention for 4 minutes to the excitement on the field, and then just as easily rest his head towards his chest and close his eyes. The one thing I should say is that while his behavior is pretty typical, there are numerous times when this isn't a problem. Birthdays, events, weddings, gatherings with friends, he's fine at formal events or with group things. It's just all those other times that are disturbing. You can't talk to the guy without him zoning out!! Also, he tried to be a limo driver for some spare cash and basically fell asleep at the wheel. The passenger had to switch places with my dad and drive himself to his own house! What is this condition called, please, anyone?? moreOpen Question: small weddings in southern ma..help!!!?
Hi. So I'm getting married in 3 months. I had a beautiful venue set up...but had to let my arrangements go...as my fathers contrabution fell through. Now I'm left with 3 months to scramble and find a new place....ill be lucky if I have 3000 to put twoards food flowers and entertainment..as we'll as the fee to rent a place. Now I'm considering other options. I'm located out of attleboro ma..and I'm wondering if anybody knows any secluded areas close by to host my special event...like a lake or a pond that I can also hold my reception at. I'm only having about 50 guests...so its not a big space that's in need. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm short on time..and so stressed I won't get to marry my fiance when I want to. I don't want to travel too far from home as I already have his family coming from virginia. Thanks...hope I get lots of ideas! moreOpen Question: Ex and I are talking again. What are we?
I appreciate a woman's perspective on this, but all responses are appreciated. Ex and I split up in January. Said she felt lonely for some time while we were together. All that aside, I came to the realization that I needed to show her how important she is to me and have made a very concerted effort to behave differently, to show her how much I appreciate her. I also realized that I could only say I was sorry other stuff I felt was important unnecessarily divert attention from our relationship. I was out of balance but I have it back again and want to only show her I have things back in order. She has definitely taken some notice. We still talk almost every day and do stuff together, even stay over at each other's place a couple/few times a week. Up until recently, we weren't having sex but that changed a couple of weeks ago, too. My confusion comes from her apparent confusion (she acts confused) and is highlighted by this past week. We went to my brother's wedding this past weekend, she stayed over afterwards and took me to get my car the next day. I told her I had a few things to do later but I would like to just spend some time with her later that day. She called me and invited me over. We went to some little greasy spoon for dinner, got back to her place, watched a movie and fell asleep. The next morning we had coffee, she got ready for work, and things got physical which was great (I think). I left, she went to work, we didn't really talk much, a few texts. Tuesday came around and nothing at all until I texted her that night, said she had a friend over (who I know and trust, fyi). I was a little upset because that was our last chance to get together until Saturday. She was going to help her brother and SIL move the next day, wasn't coming until today at which point I have yet another wedding rehearsal tonight. Fortunately she is going to the wedding tomorrow but not the rehearsal. Any rate, what do I make of all of this? We're together, everything is fantastic. When we're not, it's like I'm not on her mind at all until we get together again and it's like nothing was ever wrong. I do think she's stressed out because of two weddings I'm in in 7 days, her brother moving cross-country, and her job basically debilitates her yet she won't do anything beyond talk about quitting. Is there anything more I can do? Or is it just steady as she goes? I just want to know that she finds comfort in me and that she can come for that comfort whenever. I'd prefer to always be there for her once again (and I have told her that, have been showing her that, too, though I get little efedback on how I'm doing in that pursuit). Thoughts? Sorry so long. Just tried to paint a clear picture. As for the FWB suggestion, she really isn't that type of girl so unless that is something new for her, I doubt it or don't actually know her. moreOpen Question: The best makeup to use for weddings?
I have ivory skin, and I was wondering what is the best makeup to use for weddings. I am getting married this fall and my colors are lavender and lilac. I have tried Mary Kay and Avon and don't care for either! moreVoting Question: What digital SLR do I need?
I've had a Kodak Z650 with 10xoptimal zoom, 6.1mp. I love this camera and have had it for 3 years now. The camera takes beautiful pictures for the price of the camera. Last year I started doing photography for weddings, children, and special events for a small fee. I've done pretty well with this camera, but would like to step it up and take pictures that look more professional and turn this hobby into a side job. I'm not a beginner, but still have a lot to learn. I've enrolled in a photography class for the fall semester at my local community college. For the class and my photography what type of digital SLR would be right for me? I would like to keep the price below $700. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. moreVoting Question: What off-the-Strip venues does Las Vegas offer for more traditional weddings?
My fiance and I just got engaged and are looking to get married in Fall 2012. We are moving to Las Vegas this summer for two years because I am going to graduate school there. We are still trying to decide where we want to get married and it's a toss up between Southern California (where we grew up and went to school) and Las Vegas (which would be a bit easier to plan since we would already be living in the city and could visit venues, meet with people, etc.) The only Las Vegas wedding information I could find was about weddings on the Strip - however, I'm more of a traditionalist and am trying to stay away from the whole Viva Las Vegas vibe for my wedding. (Fun for Britney Spears, but not for me.) ;) Does anybody have any suggestions for off-the-Strip venues and ideas for more traditional weddings? Just to add a few details: -Of course we would want all of our family members there - as a traditionalist, I thought that went without saying :) (however, my Father did pass away when I was little, so it will be very bittersweet) -I have never actually BEEN to any weddings on the Strip, but while visiting I have heard and seen many a wedding party walking around arguing or seemingly under the influence of alcohol. I just don't want to fall into that category... -And yes, I am looking for a traditional, elegant wedding in Vegas (the golf club suggestions definitely opened up my eyes to a new group of venues - Thank you Kelly and iloveweddings!) moreVoting Question: Name of Videoagrapy and filming and filmmaking?
I am looking into Videoagrapy and i like filming weddings events and filming out door and nature i just love filming and working with cameras so i looked at some film making schools and its about acting and making films what is it called when you work with cameras and your behind the camera filming all sorts of stuff what category would that fall under and what name would it fall under moreResolved Question: Why does everyone say get a wedding planer?
I had a book that had everything they said I had to have. I got rid of more than 50% of it because my man and I didn't want it at all. We already had the rings which he and I are wearing ours even though we aren't married yet. We ordered our Marriage license on the 6th of this month and got it this week. I am so happy that we got it and that it is really getting close to our wedding. With my dress I can't wear a wedding dress looks awful on me. So I am wearing a dress that I can wear again and again just need to have the straps fixed so they don't fall off. Which is going to be done tomorrow. The other things we got them all done. we didn't want food or decorations at our wedding but my future husband's dad and grandmother wanted to do that so they are and they want it to be great for their Son/Grandson. We only have 2 people standing up with us made of honor and best man that is it. We wanted a small wedding and getting a ton of people showing up sighs. Just wanted main family, aunts and uncles and grandparents that was it we got more now. sighs family loves to celabrate weddings I guess. No alcocho at wedding. But maybe later since my furter husbands dad's side of the family love to drink. My Fiance hates tuxes so none of that just nice dress pants, nice shirt and tie and we are done. same with best man :D simple but the way we like it. So why do you need a wedding planer when they think of the biggest wedding ever made? About my job well I got them under Control I am going to talk to the head man of the my job and make sure I have all the days off I need for the wedding :D I don't get vacation days because I don't have enough years in to have any yet. And they don't like you to take vacation days on a holiday week or holiday. moreVoting Question: Take the time to read this, I promise I won't disappoint. Opinions?
This is only the beginning of my story called The Early November since the entire thing won't fit on here. I KNOW IT'S LONG. You don't have to read all of it, just skim parts of it and tell me what you think :) “That’s just life, Norah. Sometimes things work like the engine of your papa’s Ferrari when it’s all oiled and fixed up and what not, and ‘s not like it happens for one big important reason ‘er somethin’. ‘Cause then there are those other times when the engine just don’t start, no matter how pretty the paint job or how big the engine. Ain’t no real reasons, darlin’. Just life.” This was the analogy my grandpa offered me as means of console as he drove me home that rainy autumn evening. I was beginning to think that the steady flow of tears and the dull ache that had taken over my body was becoming my permanent state of being saying as it hadn’t let up for days and showed no signs of stopping. I sniffled. “Thanks Grandpa.” I was silent for the rest of the drive as was my grandpa because, really, there’s nothing you can say to a person whose heart is breaking right in front of your eyes. I got out of the car, thanked my grandpa again for the ride, and made my way into my home lit by only the silver streaks of moonlight that managed to sneak between its shadows and curtains. I plopped onto the couch, still aching and weeping, letting myself fold into its brown, leathery confines. It must’ve been around midnight, but it could’ve been the middle of the afternoon and I wouldn’t have known the difference. Time became relative and, frankly, irrelevant. Anything besides Drew seemed impossibly far away, as though I was just watching the world go on around me without any real connections or relations to it. I don’t know how long I just sat there in my dark living room dissecting my life and all of its newly dead hopes and dreams, thinking about how I’d manage to attend the funeral tomorrow, wondering what kinds of thoughts were running through Drew’s family’s minds. Mostly, though, I thought of Drew and if he was watching me right then and why he had to leave and what the point of his last reaching out to me was. That’s what really bothered me—the why. Why did God steal away from me the only guy I ever really loved? Why did Drew want to make me fall even more in love with him while knowing the entire time that it would only end up breaking my heart beyond repair? Did this give him some kind of sick satisfaction? And why couldn’t I seem to make sense of any of this? After dozing in and out of sleep for what could’ve been moments, minutes or even hours, I noticed the stack of VCR tapes of our family’s Kodak moments that my parents had collected over the years. It had always been there, I suppose, but I guess one just doesn't really notice the minute details of her home until the busy lives that fill it come to a halt. Plus, I was in the mood to look back, mostly just because the thought of looking forward was unbearable. There must’ve been fifty or sixty tapes when you added in all of the anniversaries and weddings. Mostly, though, since I never had any siblings, the collection consisted of my birthdays, Christmases, outings to the zoo and the art museum with my parents, field trips, all the school plays and band concerts and, the most recent ones, the times my family and I spent time with Drew. From one titled, “Drew and Norah’s 1 Year” to a recording of the funniest game of Pictionary I’d ever played in which Drew earned himself the nickname of Pooh Bear (don’t ask), the whole assortment of occasions caused a wistful kind of longing along with a surge of memories that I couldn’t block out, not that I would’ve wanted to anyway. One memory in particular was so bright and fresh in my mind that it was nothing short of a blockbuster romance playing loud and clear behind my eyelids. It was the most beautiful fall day I’d seen in all my seventeen years. I awoke to a pitch black sky and the smell of the blueberry pancakes made fresh by my parents earlier that morning. They had left maybe ten minutes before I woke up and the pancakes were still warm. They left me a note on the fridge, as they always did, letting me know what time they were scheduled to work for the day and that they loved me. I’d never really appreciated their early morning awakenings until I had to force my own lazy self through one. Drew was to blame for this. He said he had quite the day in mind for me, but in order for everything to go as planned, I had to wake up at the very crack of dawn and be ready by six o'clock sharp. So awake I did. I had just enough time after finishing my pancakes and taking a shower to put on a quick layer of makeup and get my bag together before I heard the rumble of Drew's engine in my driveway. The sun had just barely arrived in the sky and the air was cool, though way too warm for early November. He looked so cute with that proud smile and that messy auburn moreResolved Question: I guess more of an etiquette question.. babies and weddings?
A friend of ours is getting married in the fall and inivted my husband and I and our two children (currently 19 months and 3 months so by wedding time they will be 2 years and then 8 months old) to the ceremony and reception. When I initially told her, oh I think we'll pass on bringing the little ones she just shook it off and said "oh no bring them they will look so cute dressed up and there will be other small children!" I mentioned it again since and she still said "no you're worrying too much bring them." But truthfully, I would rather not bring them. I don't want to seem rude but how can I kindly make the point that I am NOT bringing my kids to this wedding? moreResolved Question: Bride's style or Groom's style wedding?
I always get very confused on this topic. Now if people of two different communities fall in love and want to get married and if their wedding styles are going to be different, then which wedding style should they go for? I know this couple from India, both Hindus, girl from Karnataka and the guy from Kerala. They fall in love and their parents are fine with them getting married. But the parents are having a fit now to decide which style they should follow for the wedding. I believe, in Kerala Hindu wedding is just for 15 mins they dont have the sacred holy yajna/homam. The girl's parents want the wedding to be in the Kanada style. Both the bride and the groom's parents argued about it and finally the bride's parents agreed to conduct the entire wedding in the guy's style but just incorporate the yajna. The groom's side does not agree to this at all as they do not believe in yajna in weddings. What are your thoughts on how the wedding should be conducted? moreResolved Question: Can you have two weddings, each one in a different country?
The reason I ask is because, my fiance and I plan on marrying in Hawaii with no friends and family as Hawaii means a lot to our relationship (its where we live, met and fell in love). However we would like to have a second wedding ceremony in my home country, Scotland UK, so that our families and friends can join us. Is it possible to do this? moreVoting Question: Is it corny for their to be a wedding in a horror movie?
Is it lame for the villian of a horror slasher movie to fall in love and get married? I often think of weddings and fall in love as a form of happiness and joy ( what the hell is that doing in a horror movie) I think horror I think scary and grotesque, and when I think of horror villian, I think of scary, evil , mean ,cold blooded people that think only of themselves. For them to fall in love ruins the whole evil sinister consept. Why in hell should a slasher villian get married? Why to have sex, your the evil villian for god sake, their are other way's to get sex ( rape, torture, molestion, S&m, Etc...) Again.. Why in hell should a horror slasher villian get married? Loniess, Get imaginary friends, go insane, call upon the demonic minons of hell, torture some kid, chain them up and lock them in the basement, go on internet chat lines like those creepy pedophiles or lonely losers on a friday night, and so on, see that even the loneliness of villians are never really alone. So why should a slasher horror villian get married? Love, if the villian is truely evil, he only cares about himself and also e villian is the person despised and hated by everybody, that is why a villian is a villian ( aside from the whole evil, sinsiter thing, I remember horrifying weddings, were the bride is screaming against her will, as ugly grotesgue groom as he drags her down the aside, or the redneck shotgun weddings while the drunkin father in law points a gun a the grooms back, A horrorfying wedding should be wedding were no one is happy, with gloom and decay. moreResolved Question: What do you think about FALL WEDDINGS?

One in secret?
My fiancee and I were talked into having our wedding in the fall by my Mom (I don't know why)... We definitely don't want to wait this long. I need medical insurance and cannot get any without being on his insurance, which requires us to be married. We have been by passed by so many people who were engaged before us and we don't want to wait this long. I am not able to get the medical care that I need for a serious health issue without insurance.. Our question is...if we were to get our pastor to marry us in his office (very quietly with maybe our parents).. and not tell anyone.. Could we still have our wedding in the fall/summer like we have planned and I wear the dress I have.. etc, etc? It sounds rediculous but when you are being denied medical coverage because you're not married and are tired of being upstaged by others who have never thought about getting married until you got engaged.. you would see why. Is this unfounded? We're not getting married because of that. We want to get married and I am very sick and need health insurance! moreResolved Question: Muslim Weddings HELP!?

Me and my boyfriend have been going out for a while. We have just moved in together and I am so happy the way things are. But I was starting to get the suspicion that he was going to propose. I didnt realyy think anything of it and carried on the same way. But then about a week later I was cleaning out my cupboards and a tiffany box fell out and I knew straight away it was a ring. I didnt open it but just put it back where I found it. I started thinking about what life would be like when we were married, and it made me think that it wouldnt be any different at all and I didnt really see wy the change was necessary and all there was to do really was sign some papers but I had heard storied of couples that went so crazy with their weddings that it broke them up. I have a big family and so does he so I know that it will get a bit hectic and I really dont want what we have to go away. So if he proposes what should I say? Ok so I met this guy my junior year in high school (on myspace) but he lives here too and we met in person at an event a few weeks later. I've kinda had a crush on him even back then. Now we're both sophomore's in college. I saw him at a wedding Sunday night again. I see him at all the weddings (and we have a LOT every year) but I never felt the way I did after that night. I just completely fell for him. So I decided the best thing to do was to let him know the next day because it's better than wondering what if. I was reaaally nervous but I finally told him that I like him as more than a friend and I just cant help my feelings but no matter what happens we'll always be cool and I just had to tell him. He replies that He's flattered and Im a great girl and all he's single but he's not looking for a relationship and that hopefully we can try after his surgery (he's having heart surgery late may) but not right now and that he's sorry. I kinda took it as a no, but then an open heart surgery is something huge. I just feel like we have soo much in common but I'm afraid that maybe he sees me ONLY as a friend b/c we're so cool like that and I'm not sure. Ugh. I just can't get him off my mind and I wished he liked me the same way. What do you guys think about his reply? I love to hear from my fellow yahoo peeps and any/everything will help :) so thank you soo much I'd love to hear your opinions. && btw our bdays our both march 5, 1990 :) which i think is adorable and bak wen we first met we had this deal where if we were both single by age 21 we'd start seeing each other =) of course i'm sure he didn't think it meant much to me moreResolved Question: SMALL weddings in northern New Hampshire?

My grandmother is senile and no longer to make her own decisions. She has become a burden on the family as people have to take time off from work to deal with her idiocy. A few years ago, my grandfather wanted to return to their home country for old age, where they have a large house and their son, my uncle, is the mayor of the village they live in. She started to packed and they set a deadline for may. Its been 2 years since that date. She has been packing and repacking, probably stalling. She literally packing garbage now, american furniture, plastic cutlery, electronics which will only work in the us, those crappy cardboard drawers...etc... My grandfather would throw all of it away, but she kept packing and stalling. She constantly complains that's its cold, so they have heat up to like 90. She lives like a hermit. She doesn't go to church, She doesn't go to funerals, baptisms or weddings, but will go with her youngest daughter to do laundry because the machine in her building "works wrong" She slipped and fell a few months ago, and didnt want to be taken to the hospital. We didnt know what to do. We had a doctor come out and didnt let him touch her. He got the paramedics and my grandfather signed releases to get her to the hospital against her will. She got back from the hospital after a few weeks, and her got worse because she wouldn't allow anyone to touch her again. Same thing happened and she went to the hospital for 3 weeks, and now medicare/insurance was going to stop paying, so we got her sent to a nursing home. Thankfully, they somehow coaxed her to pose for a passport photo and got her foreign passport passport made before this. If she didn't have us citizenship, then we would just get her deported somehow, so the govt would handle the dirty work and be responsible for her..... Ideally, duct taping her mouth, chaining her to a wheel chair and stuffing her in a bombproof luggage container in a pressurized cargo hold to bypass tsa would be the way to go.... ####### So here is my question, how do we get her on a plane and back to the homeland ? What sort of provisions would need to be made and what kind of paperwork would be needed? What about TSA, the airline, and the FAA, the pilots and attendants on the plane....etc... She will obviously be accompanied by 2-3 people. One of them being my grandfather. Also we don't know how to transport her....in a wheelchair or on a stretcher.... Bear in mind that she will probably be argumentative, uncooperative, unwilling. She would not be able leave the wheelchair, and may need to be tied down. She will be going through O'hare Airport, and she is white/northern european, not arab.....not on any TSA list.....if that makes a difference... moreResolved Question: I have no feelings. Is there something wrong with me?
I've never been in love before, I never had a crush on anybody. When I was young, my friends were always dreaming about having their own weddings, but I never thought about that. I'm 30 now, my friends are all busy dating or getting married or having their own kids. But to me, love or family means nothing. My friends all think I'm weird. Maybe, I AM weird. Everybody is looking for their true love. But, I don't. I used to pretend that I am normal and try to date couple guys, but I really don't have any feelings. How come I cannot fall in love? What's wrong with me? moreVoting Question: my brother has accused me of trying to ruin his wedding when it's the other way around?
My brother and I don't get on too well because of his hatred towards my fiancee, he really hates her because she's not british. We're both planning weddings for June, mine is 12th his is on 11th. He and his fiancee are going to Cuba to get married and had invited all our family and most have decided they aren't going including our parents. Our parents aren't going because my fiancee has asked my dad to walk her down the aisle - her parents died when she was a baby and she doesn't get along with her adoptive father, her adoptive mother died last year. Because our parents aren't going he's accused me of trying to ruin his wedding. The thing is we had set the date at the end of 2008, we sent out the save the dates in January 2009 and they purposely set theirs the day before ours in a foreign country - they didn't even set the date until November 2009. Is there anyway I can solve this between my brother and I, it's getting silly. My fiancee took her wedding dress to show my mum last week, now the dress is in the dry cleaners as my brother 'fell' into her holding a glass of red wine. My fiancee is now panicking her dress is ruined, the dress was her mother's as well. This is silly, we're adults and he's acting like a child. moreResolved Question: Can I get into Brown or Columbia?

Based on what I've seen, states that legalize gay marriage are getting out of the recession. Within 8 months, these companies that helped support gay marriages earned over $102.5 thousand. So, if we sacrificied a tradition that might as well be dead anyways (thanks to Vegas weddings, and 50% divorce rate) so that two people who love each other can get married, it would help us get out of the recession. But of course... if gay marriage became legal the sky would fall, and babies heads would start exploding left and right! It's the end of all life as we know it because of gay marriage! (*severe sarcasm*) moreResolved Question: He calls me it but its not true?
My boyfriend & I have been together for 6 years (almost 6 & a half) His family all introduces me as his fiancé when we meet some one new. (even when his father passed away under family my name went in the paper as his fiancé) Also any time he is talking on the phone or writing out an email he calls me his fiance. But when it comes to really being I'm NOT! Even my parents & extend family are always like where is the hubby today what's the hubby doing etc. We have the ring picked out & paid off ($50 left on it, he says its safer then here where it could to stolen lost etc) he hasn't asked. Any time we talk about it, it ends in a disagreement. I think if we did get engaged at this point more people would either day "finally" or "I thought they were already married" We were talking about money yesterday trying to figure out taxes for the fall on our new house. I have talked him in to using our 2nd savings account for a wedding. That way we could save slow. But told him I'm done talking about it till we are engaged. You don't plan a wedding as boyfriend & girlfriend. Later I walked in to the computer room to find him sending out an email to the place we talked about earlier asking for information on weddings. Yet again calling me his fiance in his email. By the end of the night it was another disagreement last night. I went to bed wanting to cry, he said he wasn't but came to bed a few hours later. This is the only thing we fight about! Any ideas? (I'm 22 he will be 24 very soon...) I thought when we first moved in together we would have been married by now. I told him if I knew I would be still waiting I wouldn't have done it. (3 years ago when I was 19) babygirl...I agree. I just feel its the next step. You fall in love date, get engaged get married you have babies. What is the point in staying at 1 step forever. If he isn't going to marry me then I'm wasting my time. I do love him & want to send the rest of my life with him. It shouldn't be this hard. I know people my age who have kids (1-3) that are married. Been together half the time. moreVoting Question: Do argyle sweaters fall into "semi formal" attire(ie: spring weddings)?
Picking out an outfit for a spring wedding soon and i wanted to run this by the general public for opinions. The wedding is in San Diego, so it will be warm int the day, cool at night. moreResolved Question: How much do you pay a "Day-Of" Wedding Coordinator?
She works for a banquet facility that often does weddings, so she has experience. We aren't buddy/buddy - she's my in-laws' neighbor. I was planning on inviting her and her husband to the wedding, but her husband suggested she be our "Day-Of" Coordinator. I need her to oversee the set-up of the vendors at the reception site and be my eyes to make sure everything is perfect. We live in Southwestern Ohio and it's going to be a fall wedding. moreResolved Question: Has anyone ever gone without bridesmaids for their wedding?
My fiance and I are getting married in a small florida wedding (we are from New England but my parents have a beautiful home in Florida and we fell in love with a location there). I have a few close girlfriends but am thinking about going without bridesmaids. I have never been into the drama that can sometimes go with weddings (I have been a bridesmaid before so do not even tell me it doesn't exist) . I am also not that into the bachelor/bachelerette parties, showers and parties etc etc and I thought it would be easier to just keep the focus on my fiance and I without all the nonsense. However there is the small voice in my head that says...but what if you will regret this decision later and look back on your photos and wish you had a wedding party? All my friends have had big weddings with tons of bridesmaids, I almost feel unpopular to not have bridesmaids (childish I know but I still have that little voice that worries about these things). Did you go without bridesmaids for your wedding? What about all the showers and parties? Did you regret the decision later or would you not change it for the world? I appreciate any honest advice. Thank you :) moreResolved Question: How much should I pay an amateur second shooter?
(Asking this for my wife) The situation is this: My wife is trying to start a photography business that will center around weddings, senior portraits, etc. She has taken several photography classes and done a few photoshoots with her Nikon D300 and has a good flash as well as some other camera accessories...she is just trying to get her foot in the door and do some weddings in the $500-750 range this summer/fall. She asked her sister (who knows nothing about cameras) if she would help her as a 2nd/3rd shooter for some church weddings and her sister said yes. She picked out a $300 Nikon D70s for her sister and her sister bought it and they were discussing a possible wedding they might shoot for $750 and her sister says, "So we'll split it 50-50, right?" There was then a big argument and my wife's sister is just not understanding that although it is my wife's business and she will be teaching her sister and letting her do some 2nd shooter stuff it is not a 50-50 business. Does anyone have any advice? moreResolved Question: Which dress should I wear to the wedding?
I lost quite a bit of weight over the winter and I'm still doing so over this summer. (Goal is 120, Im at 130). I am starting out as a makeup artist and was asked what "type" of makeup do I do. I am going to do makeup for special events like weddings and sweet 16s, what type would that fall under? moreResolved Question: Wedding Etiquette Question?
I am being married in June and I've been having problems with "old friends" coming out of the woodwork and complaining about not being in or invited to the wedding. We fell out of friendship for a reason and I hate to say it, but I've come to terms with it and am fine with not speaking with them anymore. I am just having a hard time feeling like I'm being backed into a corner with stories of how we used to be such good friends and they "can't believe I'd leave them out" and how dare I. I even had one girl, who I haven't had a conversation with in two years, say that she figured that since I didn't ask her to be a bridesmaid, that I just wasn't having any and got really mad when she found out I had four girls as bridesmaids. The other day I got one saying "So I guess I'm not invited to your big event, if you don't want me there it's no biggie". Guys, I haven't talked to this person in years, he's my EX'S best friend! Do people not understand it's not about their happiness and that weddings are NOT class reunions? How do I handle this better? Someone had me so upset I went off on them and now I feel bad about it, even though we technically haven't even been friends for years. moreResolved Question: Is this a good way to set up my own photography business realistically?
Right well here is my situation.. I'm 17, in my first year of sixth form studying English Language, Sociology and Fine Art. I'm expected to get B's at the end of the year. As much as i like school and the subjects i do, there isn't anything i want to do at University. My hobby is photography, i just have a normal digital camera. No knowledge of light, lenses, composition or anything like that. But i still want to be a photographer, as in Weddings, family photos, model portfolios, landscapes e.t.c. I've seen photography courses at various University's, but non of them are what i want. So, here is my proposal, and i want you guys to tell me if its realistic. 1.For my 18th Birthday (in September) my parents are willing to buy me a professional camera, then get some practise with that. 2. Finish my A Levels in July 2011, and have good grades to fall back on. 3. During that summer, get a job (as in a shop assistant or something) to get money. At the same time go to a photography course to gain knowledge and skills. 4. After the course start doing one off jobs for people (Cheap but enough to make a bit of profit), and advertise myself in shop windows/the internet/newspaper e.t.c. 5. Hopefully my business will grow and grow into something professional. Is this realistic/a good idea? I don't mind the truth :) moreResolved Question: Do people have weddings at state parks?
Is this like a normal thing to do? There's a state park close by but their website doesn't say if I could like rent it out for a day for my wedding: http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?A=2716&Q=325268#activities It is very small and is mostly used only during the summer so I dont think it would be a problem with them but i dont know if there are like any laws or something? This one was also a possibility: http://www.berkshirehiking.com/hikes/kent_falls.html ^thats not the park's website because they dont have one. Hi! I am fairly new to the photography world. I worked with my professional mother in law for quite awhile and FELL IN LOVE with photography. However, that was about a year and a half ago. I was hoping some pros out there (particularly canon users!) could help me out a bit? I want to know things like.... What kind of equipment list should I build up? Right now, I have a Canon 50D with the (horrible) kit lens- a tamron 28-80mm, and I just got a canon 50mm f1.8. I want a macro lens because I want to get into weddings and I know I need a macro lens to get shots such as the wedding rings, but I dont know which one. I dont want outrageously expensive because I simply can't afford it! I also am doing portraiture, so any lens suggestions on that would be welcomed, too. Also, I was hoping someone could help me brush up on my settings. I know the ISO, f-stop, and aperture, but which is which? I can adjust my settings to where I get the correct lighting, however I have totally forgotten which does which. Like, which setting will increase and decrease image noise? Things like that! Any advice on someone starting their own business is welcomed... Thanks in advance! Warboom- The package I got came with a hot shoe flash, but it is a VERYYY basic one. The only thing it says on it is Zeikos and it is pretty small. I want the Canon 580 EX II. moreResolved Question: Weddings... How did you Save $$$?
I am starting to plan my wedding, and am interested in doing something simple and low cost, as we are spending most of our money on purchasing a home. Also, my fiance will going back to school in the fall. So while we would like a classy wedding, we are trying to be wise with our spending. We have not set a budget as of yet, and have not set a date either. Please note, our families live in different states, and our goal is to wed were we live (DC area) so a back yard wedding is not an option as we live in a townhome, as do most of our friends here. What did you do to reduce cost of your wedding? When is the best time of year to get married, and how can we save $$$. We have talked about having a Friday or Sunday night wedding. Our guest list will be 100. moreResolved Question: Christians what does this dream mean? think of it in a religious context?
I had a thought in my head that I should go visit my ex-boyfriend at the bar he goes to in 3 days and I said "God if you want me to go visit him in three days... let me dream about him every night for 3 days in a row and I will go." And then instead of dreaming about my ex-boyfriend I dreamed about the guy that I almost fell in love with after my relatioship ended with my ex-boyfriend... and this guy was a bad choice for me.... I don't know why he was a bad choice but God told me like 50 times to stay away from him... but I didn't listen because he was SOO attractive... Well I dreamt that I was in the hospital and someone told me that the reason I like to be submissive in my relationships is because I secretly want men to abuse me... (which is not true at all) but in the dream it made sense.... In the hospital where I was living at, I found this guy... he was extremely skinny... like 5"9 and 120 pounds... but for some reason I couldn't explain I found him to be the most attractive person I had ever met... he was is the "Bad choice" I was talking about... And then we were attending a wedding that was occuring in a large ball room that was connected to the hospital.... it wasn't just ONE wedding, but the weddings of other people as well... I was a guest at the wedding but not the bride or groom We were given chocolates that were supposed to eat a week after the wedding... but one of the brides... (who was dressed in red as opposed to white) brought and opened her chocolate a week before the time her chocolate was supposed to be open, was dark chocolate not sure... and the chocolate which would usally cost about $15 dollars.... cost her $1000 dollars... but she was willing to spend that money because it was a special occasion. I didn't know how much the chocolates cost her until I had taken a piece... of the pre-cut squraes... and she was dressed like a cross between shania twain... and one of the beautiful girls that my ex-boyfriend is friends with... She had streaked her hair.... moreVoting Question: I have a couple questions about catering?
My fiance and I love this BBQ place in town and they cater weddings. They seem like they are reasonably priced($13 -15 per/person), is that a good price? The thing is there may be a few vegetarians at the wedding, the BBQ place doesn't really offer anything besides salads(fruit, potato salad, reg salad, etc). What can i do in this case? There are maybe 3-4 people that fall into that category. And one last question, is BBQ considered tacky? moreResolved Question: Venues for weddings in blue ridge mountains?
I am looking for a simple venue located in the high country. The only two things I need in this venue is a clear view of the mountains and that it be relatively cheap. I don't need a fancy venue; as much as I love the Grove Park Inn and the Biltmore, I simply can't afford it. Maybe a park or something? Any ideas? This will be a fall wedding. I think I'll have maybe 100 people and looking to spend $1,000 or less on the venue. Thanks! moreResolved Question: What exactly is the reason that gay's can't be married?
Is it a religious deal? It can't be politics, because the money made from gay weddings, along with gay married couples who pay taxes, would be worth a lot to politicians. Is it just a biased veiwpoint? If two people fall in love, isn't it their personal choice to to do something, and why should government have any say in the matter? moreResolved Question: Fellow Christians, are you taking notice of the powerful signs?
seeing how everything that happens, people in denial/scientists/nonbelievers will have a way to explain it away, doesn't it make sense that they won't see anything coming??? the latest earthquake was the 7th most powerful earthquake in recorded history, shifting the earth's axis by about 3 inches and changing time shortening it by 1.26 milliseconds the nonbelievers were just saying yesterday, "earthquakes happen all the time. it's just another earthquake so what?" now, w/ the new facts (that they claim to love and live by) they say "so what? that doesn't mean anything. what has that got to do w/ a god?" there's no hope for them right now. they are waiting for things to get absolutely crazy before they wake up, if at all the bible says "When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape. But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief." 1 Thessalonians 5:3-4 "When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 27In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all." Luke 17:26-27 "And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building— 29until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all." Luke 17:28-29 it's obvious these signs are for us. they are for us to take notice, to draw closer to god b/c the end is near. we won't be caught off guard by the end if we are wise moreResolved Question: I'm in love with a fictional character in a book?
First off, the book is The Time Traveler's Wife The very first time i read that book, i couldn't stop reading it. I soon fell in love with Henry's (the character) personality. I sketched in my mind and on paper how he would look from the book's description. I read that book at least 15 times. No exaggeration. I fed off Henry's words and I felt like I just knew him..when in fact i've never met someone close to him. He is intelligent charming and wonderful.. Although, he is not perfect. That is why I think there is a chance i can find someone just like him someday. I always have been the type of person that treasures love to an extreme. I feed of love, romance, and lust. The suprsing truth is i am only thirteen years old. Sometimes i feel like an older person trapped inside a younger body. I live up to my expectations and I dream of becoming successful one day. Anwyways, Henry never leaves my mind. I've tried imagining I was Clare (his lover in the book), and it really isn't the same. How could i just live the moment and wait for my true love to come some day? How can i just keep Henry in my mind without him becoming an obbsession? I'm just hoping I can find someone similar to him. Of course without the time traveling part. This may have nothing to do with this, but i was recently at a wedding party, and I had a good time. But, i always feel anxious at weddings..hoping when my day will come... By the way, i also have a problem with being attracted to much older men...i'm not very attracted to boys my age..very strange i know..anyways, i would like to know if this is due to not have a father since i was about 9...i have heard this before.. moreResolved Question: Besides falling in love or having a baby (including weddings) what is the best thing that ever happened to yo?
