Open Question: Should I stay in this flat or move to another one?
In April I finally moved out of my parent’s house at the age of 24. I moved into my brothers flat whilst he goes travelling for 5 months, he is due back end of August. He even quit his job, though he does have his own internet business. He needed someone to stay there, otherwise he’d lose it. I guess I did him a favour. Now my brother has emailed me from his travels in South America, to say he’s handing the flat over to me, as he doesn’t think he’ll afford to pay the rent when he’s back. So his plan is to move to my parents place for say a couple of months, and pay them a bit. He also plans to go off travelling again in a few months or so. Now I mentioned he does have his own internet business- he sells personalised calendars (mainly from October to January/February). He does this in the flat, so he is asking me if he could go there to work during days I will be off work, saying he will leave the place tidy and everything (not so sure lol). So basically he would sleep at parents and work in flat. The thing is I would prefer the flat to myself for privacy. I think this arrangement might be awkward, could even cause arguments. But he says he will find it more expensive if he found another flat to run the business, and my parents even wouldn’t want the equipment there. He had said this isn’t a condition, but should I feel bad if I said I wouldn’t like this idea and still say I want the flat? Or should I just find a new flat altogether? I do like it here, and might find it harder finding something cheaper and in a better location. hope this all hasn’t confused you, I’m just confused with what to do! moreOpen Question: What kind of jobs would you allow an unemployed person to do and still be in receipt of their benefits?
Someone recently raised the issue that if the long term unemployed people were forced to work for their benefits in jobs where others would naturally be paid a proper salary that eventually the salaries in those jobs would drop or the salaried jobs would disappear in favour of maintaining a cheap workforce. It has also been mentioned to me that another option is to force the ong term unemployed to do the work of community based workers ie tidying up the streets, the gardens, areas of wasteland, natural denes, all areas I am sure could benefit from the extra attention but also tend to be reserved for teams of offenders. So the problem here is that the long term unemployed feel like they are being treated as if they were a criminal. I am not saying the welfare state is perfect but I am saying we do need to have properly organised training jobs that are sustainable and permanently part of our available employment culture. If we don't get permanently available training jobs for people to take on who have been say unemployed for three years or more than we will never solve the problem of people getting gainful employment and coming off benefits in the long run. This is the real dilemma. Sadly another real dilemma is that we now have a growing problem in society where we now have second and third generation of unemployed people in families where nobody has ever contributed to the welfare state via taxation. So the only way to level this out is for the said same people to be offered jobs for dole and if they refuse to do jobs for dole they should be disentitled to the said benefits. The only exceptions to this should be those who have been born with a genuine disability or mental health problem and they can not physically work for a living in any avenue. Also exempt should be those who have retired after having a lengthy work record and those who have suffered disabling accidents from a source of work. Hello Madman, Mm I don't think your so mad afterall. It sounds good to pick one specific area that is not being covered properly, than at least the unions could say the gov't was creating a cheap labour force or reducing the labour force. Good thinking Madman. x Personally it is truly laughable and unfortunate that we have a large percentage of the workforce over paid for the jobs and the hours they work. This practice effectively means that for every 2 people over paid for the jobs they have that another person is being done out of having a job. Large corporate firms prefer to work with a minimal number of people instead of employing more people to do the real jobs they actually have within the same budget.. I'm a bit concerned about how we would also define prime of our lives. If this means young people between the age of say 24 and 34, I presume this means youthful and fit for work. Not so easy though if society and the powers that be have written you off because you were born into the wrong social class or the wrong quarter of a city and because of this background of social and economic depravity, employers are not keen to employ you, for fear that your background influences might disturb the equilibrium of the workplace. Race, gender, age and background are all the areas employers operate the unfair policy of "positive descrimination" or descrimination when exercising their right of choice. Government needs to step in to create work programmes or allow work programmes to be developed within existing areas, despite any objections from employers and neighbourhoods. Unemployed people just need to be willing to take that big step forward and say yes we can do it. moreOpen Question: Does anyone know where I can get cheap favors for an event that's spy themed?

Slavery and Freedom: The American Paradox In this article, the writer whose name is Edmund S. Morgan talks about how the slavery and freedom grew at the same time as in the English colonies in North America. As I’ve read the article, I’ve noticed that, there are so many factors Morgan highlights as leading to the rise of racial slavery in the North America. He also states that, “This is the paradox of America history” which means that freedom and slavery expanded simultaneously in North America. He talks about “The American Paradox” which the word of paradox means something that displays contradictionary qualities. The American historians interested in tracing the rise of liberty, democracy, and the common man have been challenged in the past two decades by other historians. The starting point for such an explanation, Morgan asserts, is the Old Dominion. American Slavery, American freedom as a history of early Virginia. The story of how the set of American arrived at the American Paradox, an attempt to see how the slavery and freedom made in their way to England’s first American colony and grew there. Morgan argues that racism is definitely a factor of slaves, which means that White males were looked at as elite and black were looked as slaves. The rise of liberty and evade the problem was created by those facts which were liberty and equality in the America was accompanied by the rise of slavery. There were two contradictions developed between slavery and freedoms are very apparent thought history. Morgan mentions that how people were deeply believed in freedom and self-government, while many were slaveholders. The economic aspect of this paradox was that without the slaves who worked to produce the goods, there would be no products. The paradox is if they abolished slavery there would be no production; or continues slave labor even though freedom is being promoted. At this time, the state where most of the tobacco came from. Virginia was the biggest colony of the United States in 1790. It had 40 percent of the slaves in entire United States. Virginia produced the largest amount of tobacco and also had forty percent of the slaves in the United States. The ironic aspect is the most eloquent spokesmen about freedom and equality, George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson, all come from Virginia. These all were slaveholders and remained throughout their lives. It was painful detail the contrast between Jefferson’s pronouncements in favor of republican liberty and his complicity. Jefferson was trying to get a pan to reform the nation. He didn’t want the Americans in the debt. Jefferson said, if a man can own enough land to make enough money to support his family, it could be a republican nation. Virginians had to resort to buying the cheapest labor in order to find their way out of debt. It just so happens that the cheapest labor came from Africa. It was cheaper to buy slave labor than to have free labor. But then Jefferson, wrote the Declaration of Independence to free the all slaves. He wrote that, “All men are equal”, while they owned more slaves. In Jefferson’s distrust of artificers they began to get a glimpse of the limits and limit was not dictated by racism. John Lock was the one of the world’s most important political philosopher. The system of U.S. government was built on Lock’s ideas, including such core premises as the ultimate of the people. John Lock, the classic explicator of the right of revolution for the protection of liberty. He didn’t think about extending that right to the landless poor. He thought about the slaver’s family. The children were sent to public school at the age of three. The reason of this the only subject taught would be work which is spinning and knitting. They were paid by bread and water which means they can run their lives with these. Meanwhile the mothers were taking care of their children. They are allowed to go to work beside their fathers and husbands to help their family. If they couldn’t find the regular employment then they could sent to the working school too. Lock maintained that people are naturally tolerant and reasonable, but that without a governing force, a certain amount of chaos and other inconveniences will occur. In his view all people are inherently equal and free to pursue “life, liberty, health and property”. And many of Locke’s intellectual successors, while denouncing slavery in the abstract, openly preferred slavery to freedom for the lowers ranks to laborers. As I’ve read this article, in my words, these people hoped to acquire some land after their terms of service, but as their hopes were broken, they became rebellious and started roaming, stealing, drinking, quarreling, etc. What made these young, landless freemen dangerous was that they were armed with guns, in case of a Dutch or Indian attack. Also, Governor William Berkeley’s friendly tactics towards the Indians stirred up a rebellion, which was led by Nathaniel Bacon. moreResolved Question: what are some easy party favors for baby shower?
like ones we can make.. and cheap.. about 60 ppl moreResolved Question: How to deal with my crazy bi-polar mother?
Okay, so, my mom is not just bi-polar. My father and I both think that she is a lesbian (NOT SAYING ANYTHING RUDE ABOUT LESBIANS.. JUST SAYING), And she also has some bad depression. My mom doesn't tell me anything! I just found out that when she was a child, she was raped by her father. And I can't believe it that me living 14 almost 15 years doesn't know anything. Anyways, back on point. This woman is nuts. Yesterday she went ballistic on me and said "I can't wait for the day where I will never be looking at your face again!" Then this morning she sends me a text from work "Love ya! Take care of your little sister!" I can't reply to it.. cause I don't understand it. And just maybe a week ago, I had the idea to re-do my room. Since my room is filled up with her things.. clothes.. dolls.. dressers. It's MY room, isn't it?! I walk over to her and ask her "Hey mom.. can you maybe put your coat into your own closet" She responds.. "WHAT! I have no room in my closet!!!! LEAVE IT IN YOURS" I tell her then.. "But I am trying to make my room MY room! I am trying to make it be mine and only mine!" She then tells me "too bad" And go run the coat to her closet and stick it inside. She sees me and chases after me, I close my door and she pounds wildy. Then she starts yelling crazy stuff like "GET MY DRESSERS OUT OF YOUR ROOM THEN, YOU LITTLE SELFISH BRAT!" I began to cry and then she starts to laugh. AND I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS ANYMORE! IT'S NOT FAIR! :( She has also banged my head into the wall, and it hurts for weeks! I told her "Oww my head hurts so bad!" And I began to cry a little, then she tells me "oh well! that's life!" And then whenever I am with her, and a friend of mine says hi, she look at them with a dirty look. And whenever I say hi to their parents I always get a .. "Hey Alanna! How are you sweetheart?" She also favors my little sister, and says I have less feelings than her because 'I'm older'. My mom depends on my dad too! And my dad says he is doing something about it, but I find it super hard to believe ;( My parents have been divorced since January 2009.. And they still live in the same house! They don't even talk to each other, and my mom doesn't even pay for any bills! She has a job, it may be a super cheap one, and her excuse always is "I have no money!" I told my dad that it isn't fair that he makes me have to live with her, but he acts like he cares but deep down inside I know that he doesn't at all. She came to conclusion just last Friday that she won't give me 10 dollars a week to watch my little sister for 12 hours a day each day. Her excuse is because I am snotty and harass my little sister each day. Which unless she considers harassment trying to FEED my little sister who is anorexic who doesn't even know it. I can't deal with her, I feel like dying. There is so much more hurtful and mean things she has done. I feel like I wrote too much as it is, but I can't deal with it anymore :'( And I have urination problems, I pee way too much, and when I asked my mom to take me to the doctor, she said no and that it is normal. Which it is not at all! I pee around 15 times a day! :( And when my little sister got a headache, she rushed her to the doctor. :( moreOpen Question: MTG: When an enchantment aura is destroyed what happens to the permanent it is attached to?
Hi all! I've been playing Magic for quite a while but I dont actually own my own cards. I've got a friend who is a collector so he allows us to make our own decks from his cards. Anyways, the problem is that "he knows the rule" and we dont, so they tend to favour him. One of the "rules" he plays by, which makes no sense to me is that when an Enchantment - Aura is destroyed the creature or permantent or whatever it is attached to is also destroyed. This sounds wrong to me, surely only the enchantment would be destroyed and the creature would now be free of it? In any case, he uses this to totally wipe out our powerful cards. He'll play a low mana Aura like Recumbant Bliss onto one of our really powerful cards. Then hell use a cheap 'destroy enchantment' card like Piety Charm to destroy it and thus also destroy the creature. This sound way unbalanced. So can anyone please clarify this for me? Also if possible could to tell me your experience or where in the rulebook or web you found this so I can make a valid argument to him. Thanks! moreVoting Question: What are some ways to cut costs on a Sweet 16 Party?

Recently I gave up Facebook and canceled my cell phone plan in favor of a cheap prepaid cell phone that I take with me only when I leave home. I don't get texts and I turn the phone off when I'm at home. I mainly want it for emergencies on the road. I used to be an avid Facebook user and texter. Now that I've adapted to these changes, my friends constantly complain that I am too hard to reach, despite the fact I still have email and a home phone line. I was called "eccentric" and now it seems like no one wants to make plans for me. Rationally I thought "If they were really my friends, they'd call me at home or shoot me an email to hook up. I shouldn't have to have texting because they won't call, and be reachable on Facebook." I told this to someone at work and they were like "Not having a cell phone or Facebook is like social suicide." But don't you think these "friends" would still manage to contact you if your friendship was that important to them? I wouldn't let lack of texting and Facebook keep me from seeing a friend. Should I just let bygones be bygones and forget these people? moreResolved Question: What would you do if this was your mom? Would you be annoyed?
(of course I am not going to listen to her, I just think its funny). Could you please do me a favor and postpone your garage sale until another time? I have a lot to do this week and I really, really don't want to spend a whole morning in the heat at a garage sale before I go to work. I couldn't stay past 11:00, because I'd need to go home and clean up and get ready for work, and I STRONGLY think that Mark should be there if you're gonna have strangers come to your house. I know you didn't ask, but ... on the subject of garage sales, there's no bigger waste of time than a poorly planned garage sale. I've had one before and I've been to a bunch, so I know what they're like. People are mainly looking for big stuff like furniture and appliances that they can resell, and baby items are always popular. If u don't have those, very few people will come. The people who do come will come in carloads, and a lot will be people that you definitely wouldn't want at your house. They'll be trying to get something for nothing, and they'll ask you to lower your prices or try to get you to go inside and look for something else. (Someone did this at my garage sale.) DON'T go in and don't let anyone go in. People look for really big sales. Smaller ones are a waste of time. They can always go to Goodwill where the selection is bigger. Most people will look and not buy anything. A few will be scoping out the place to see if there's anything they can come back and steal later (like a purebred dog), or how easy it might be to break into your house. If you advertise the sale from 8 to 12, people will come at 7 and they'll keep coming long after you want them to. Unless you name big stuff in your ad that these people want, you may sit there in the heat all day and make $20 or $30. Or you may get swarms of people, and one will try to distract you while their kid or their friend wanders around to your back yard or steals something. Overall, a garage sale is a colossal waste of time, and you'll be mad at yourself later for selling something that you bought for $20 and once valued, for 50 cents. It's really better to just offer your unwanted stuff to family and friends, or give it to Goodwill (where you can take it off your income tax next year). If you really must have a garage sale, you should spend a weekend or two going to a few, so you can see what goes on and at least know how to price things. (You've got to be cheaper than Goodwill.) And you can expect to see Anna! That's what she does every weekend -- go to garage sales and try to find stuff she can take to her house and resell. In fact, you may see her (or someone like her) twice -- once early to get your "good" stuff, and later, to offer to haul off the rest for free, so she can resell it, too. Well, that's my 2 cents. The most important thing I wanted to convey is that Mark should be there if you're determined to have a sale. Couldn't you do it on Saturday and Sunday? I don't know much about getting a permit. Can you cancel it or change the date? If not, I will give you back whatever you paid for the permit. BTW, I did make $400 at my garage sale, but that was ONLY because I had a bunch of large furniture items. Most of the small stuff didn't sell. You can ask Trisha, but I think she only made between $100 and $200 at hers. Sorry to offer unsolicited advice, but I just hate to see you go to a lot of trouble for nothing. -- Love, Mom ϟLILIPOWϟ_{I want the money} " I like my mom Source(s): Sorry, I only read and write essays for a grade " That means you must be really smart. moreOpen Question: Favors for a fairytale sweet 16?

The argument that the Americans are making against China is that China is manipulating the Chinese currency to makes its exports cheaper and therefore has a “unfair” competitive advantage over products made in the USA. To me, I don’t see anything wrong with the Chinese managing their currency, the yuan (RMB), whether you want to take it as manipulation or not. The word “manipulation” is used by the Americans as a code word insinuating that it is something wrong or bad and unacceptable or to put it more strongly, the Americans are accusing the Chinese government as cheating in a free-market world economy. Lets break the American argument step by step. So then, we take it that Americans believes in a free-market economy, where government should stay out of private companies doing business with the world. Also, we know that Americans like to talk about being entrepreneurs and that government should stay out of their way, that government should not hinder the ingenuity and hard work and innovation of business people to compete in a free-market economy. In America, there is the Federal Reserve who uses the tool of changing interest rates on loans it makes to private banks in the American economy. The prime rate you often here is the rate at which the cost of borrowing from the Federal Reserve is charged to the banks and in turn, the banks will pass the cost of borrowing to their customers who are mostly made up of private businesses in the market place. This control or lever that the Federal Reserve uses, is for the purpose of controlling the proper economic climate so that private businesses can thrive. If the interest rate is too high, it can have the affect of slowing down the economy, if the interest rate is low, it can have the affect of growing the economy or increasing productivity in the economy. I do not here anybody accusing the Federal government who either increases or decreases the interest rate to control its economic activity as “manipulating” its currency for the desired affect. But folks, that is exactly what the Americans are doing. They are “manipulating” the desired affect. Americans are guilty of what it accuses China, only that the Americans uses different words. Instead of the word “manipulation” as it uses against China, the Americans use the word “monetary policy”. If you can use your critical thinking skills, you can see, Americans are hypocrites when they make the argument against China about “manipulating” its currency. It is monetary policy that any sovereign government has the right to do. I hint jealousy and hate, that the Americans could not come up with such successful monetary policy as employed by the Chinese government. Next. Lets talk about the phony free-markets that the Americans espouse that they practice in their private businesses. One example to show you that Americans do not practice free-market competition is in the pharmaceutical industry. This industry has lobbied congress to write laws whereby it is illegal for American citizens to buy prescription drugs from other countries. Drugs from Canada is a fraction of the cost of drugs sold in America. But it is illegal to buy drugs from Canada if you are an American citizen. Another example of American companies that preach free-market capitalism and don’t practice it is the big agriculture businesses in America. One company such as Monsanto is a good example. They grow a single crop, corn. The term monoculture is used to describe a farm that grows only a single crop. That is what Monsanto does. It sells genetically modified corn seeds to farms and has its own farms that grow it. There product is sold around the world. Monsanto’s lobbiest has persuaded congress to pass laws that favor their business. They get huge subsidies to grow a single crop, the more they grow, the more subsidies they get, and this has changed the competitiveness of its leverage to compete in the world. If they did not get any of the subsidies paid by each taxpayer in America, they would not be in business and would not be able to compete in the world market. If it was not for the government to step in and grant billion dollars of subsidies, Monsanto would not be a viable company to compete in the world. Now, this example does not suggest that they operate under free-market principles with their own bootstraps as they preach so much in American culture. And if we use the same words that the Americans use against China, we can say, the American government is “manipulating” free-market principles and “manipulating” private companies to help them compete against foreign companies. Now if you are going to accuse someone, make sure your own hands are clean in regards to the same accusation you make against other countries. Otherwise you lose credibility and show yourself as a hypocrite and a dummy. Certainly, Americans and their government is guilty of this. Just pointing this out to you people who fall into moreResolved Question: Is This A Good Story So Far?
Hi everyone. i thought since its my first day of summer without SCHOOL! it would be a good idea to start writing a story, plus i love writing and reading. so here gos. the plot is a guy and girl are best friends, but then they stop talking, and soon the guy finds out on the news she has gone missing, and it determined to find her. i dont no what im gonna write and do next, but im wondering if this is good so far. could you do me a favor and raite it from 1 to 19, and guess how old i would be from the story? thx ps i know this isnt my best and ive dont better, so pls dont make fun but i cvan take the critsism as long as it doesnt go too far or turns to hate I had no idea that that innocent giggle I had with Faith last summer was the last. Faith and I were prancing around my small, closed in yard, trying to catch the extravagant fireflies fluttering through the air. Each time one flashed their lights, they were telling the other “I love you.” I’ve used those meaning full words before, but it never left an effect on me. Now, though, it would’ve. After we were out of breath from catching fireflies and each star shined independently in the sky like a thousand disco balls were placed in the sky, I took a peek at Faith. Her dark brown hair was swaying gently in the wind, but her piercing, blue eyes scared me like cold icicles shattering against the poor, gray sidewalk. Faith was a nice girl, but when something doesn’t go her way, just one look of her eyes and it could scare you for life. Sometimes it’s bad to see her look at you with such meaning in her eyes, like the world is going to catch on fire with just one look, but other times if you look deep, it’s like the whole world starts spinning around you, and you get this feeling that your weightless. All with just one look of the eyes. It’s really sad, actually. I kept staring until she caught my eye, and I looked away shyly and blushed, but the effect of her eyes stayed with me. To break the awkward silence, she finally whispered something softly into my ear, giving me Goosebumps. ”Freddy, can I tell you something? She asked, never loosing eye contact. I nodded, and she went on. “You get me. I want to thank you for understanding my odd habits, like picking up chewed gum from under cheap restaurant tables, and not making fun when I were my rainbow toe socks to school even when there’s a hole in every place on each. I always knew I could trust you.” She pulled away after finishing, and for once I wasn’t blushing. We sat on my porch deck for hours, just looking at the stars. Soon, after Faith left, I felt a feeling I’ve never felt before. Love Every day after that was the same. We would pass each other in the hallways, give a few glances, we would help each with work in class, and stuff normal friends do. But were not normal friends. We’re friends till the end. It was like she was embarrassed to be seen with me. Seriously? What has she got to lose? It’s not like she’s popular. Anyone can tell. She even told me she doesn’t want to fit in with the crowd, but admit it or doesn’t, everyone want to be a part of the in crowd. Lunch soon approached, and I spotted Faith at her usual table with Fiona, Josh, Liza and Marilyn. They were labeled as the weirdo table, but I didn’t mind, knowing I would fit in perfectly. I sat down, making a big PLOP sound when I hit the hard, wooden bench., just like I did everyday.Today though, Faith looked uneasy as I sat down, and Liza’s fiery red hair looked like if I even stroked it I would catch on fire. They gave me weird looks, but I ignored it. I tried to make small talk, things like “Wasn’t Mr.Coodle’s lecture today on “Appropriate times to cough” ridiculous? Or even the infamous weather line, but nothing seemed to work. I sat there, just staring down at the floor. It seemed as if I stared any longer it would open up and suck me whole. But sadly, it didn’t.” When school ended, and we were walking up to the buses, I pulled Marilyn to the side. Hers how our conversation went and I are not proud. “Marilyn, what was the big chizz at lunch today?” I could feel my shoulders slouching, losing my confidence. Marilyn pranced away ignoring me, until I got caught of her arm and held it so hard it left a red mark when I let go. Marilyn looked at me in surprise, but I didn’t care. I left her to explain. “Honestly, Freddy, I don’t know. Faith told us all to ignore you, and you know what happens when you don’t listen to her. It’s just...the eyes….you know?” Right after she said that, Faith scurried past me, bumping her hard, bony shoulder against mine. It hurt. My eyes followed Faith until she was out of sight, and I turned my attention back to Marilyn. Nodded, and let her go. She hurried away, looking back every few seconds. I was in shock. Pain too if it even possible. I trudged to the bus, not looking back. Never looking back. “FREDWARD! GET UP!!” I groaned and rolled over in my bed, causing my Toy Story shee hey sorry the rest cant fit ill its just about watching the news and seeing the report of her disspereance sorry and btw im 11 turned 10 june first and thx everyone i do wanna make a book but arent i too younge? lol moreResolved Question: How to convince my mom to let a local band play at my party (my 15th thats a year and 9 months away)?
So Im having a quinceanera, or maybe a sweet 16, really depends on if we have money or not for my 15, but, my mom talked to her friend, who could rent our venue for 200 bucks, its pretty good, instead of having to have a party at my house, making it cramped. So the venue is pretty big, and wed also save on the cake, cus my moms friend or my aunt both are profesional cake makers, if i get it with my moms friend, it be a discount, if i get it with my aunt, mostlikely itd be her gift to me, id just pay for the supplies (cake mix, icing, fondant) but i really want a local band to play at my party, i have three 3 in mind so nfar, but no doubt id get more in my head before next week lol So far the three id liekt o play are SUAD, The Shoreline, and NNS. (i know the guitarist of SUAD, and the drummer, somewhat, and their singer, shauna is my friends cousins sisters bestfriend. if that makles sense lol) theyve also give me free tickets personally, even though i dont know them personally, then the shoreline, they have sent me a free ep of theirs once, but ive never met them, but im going to hopefully in august. then, NNS, i dont know them at all, but i hope theyd be cheap. But id be willing to pay them myself, and give them all the food they want xD an anwyays, im paying for the favors for my party, my moms paying for the venue, decorations, myabe the cake, or my grandpa will pay for that, and some other people will be paying for other little stuff. How do i convince her to let me get a band? SUAD stands for shut up and dance, NNS stands for the letters of the members of the bands first names. EDIT: im asking because id need to book them as soon as possible, atleast 6 months in advanced, and being that its almost 2 years away, i have a year and a half to talk my mom into letting the band play(: I actually have 312 bucks saved up (from christmas, my past two birthdays, allowance, and what i get painting houses with my friend every ones in a while.) im pretty sure, that in 2 years, id prolly be able to pay them, considering that i got most of that in the past 8 months. though some i had before. moreVoting Question: Do Americans "manipulate" its laws deserving of condemnation?
The argument that the Americans are making against China is that China is manipulating the Chinese currency to makes its exports cheaper and therefore has a “unfair” competitive advantage over products made in the USA. To me, I don’t see anything wrong with the Chinese managing their currency, the yuan (RMB), whether you want to take it as manipulation or not. The word “manipulation” is used by the Americans as a code word insinuating that it is something wrong or bad and unacceptable or to put it more strongly, the Americans are accusing the Chinese government as cheating in a free-market world economy. Just pointing this out to you people who fall into this camp, and there are a lot of you, if not most in your phony country. Remember America is not what you say you are. The American dream is just that, an illusion built on false premises. All the lofty talk about the good values of Americans is just a façade to cover up its decadence, its hypocrisy, its lies, and its power hungry bullying self centered insecurities. USA is not that golden nugget in a vast sea of darkness, instead it is an mirage o moreVoting Question: Does the Federal Reserve in America "Manipulates" is Money?

Should I continue to help my brother?
Now before I post this I'd like to ask everyone to respect that I am talking about a member of my family who will never see this but still that does not deserve name calling and what not. My brother is almost 30 and is a single dad. He does work VERY hard as you can image. However, his job doesn't pay enough for him to always cover his bills and even if he got a better job he's on assisted living so the government would not help him anymore with rent and food. I have tired for almost 10 years now (I'm baby sis to him) to help him financially. It started with gas money here and there. Then gradually started getting bigger and bigger to the point that me and my husband funded him getting a lawyer and divorce (not cheap), a family Disney World trip for him and his daughter, and funded her dance class. I try and encourage him (even paid for him to go back to college out of my own pocket...but he flunked the class!) because he has a brilliant mind. He can do ANYTHING with computers even building them and fixing them but he wont budge. He's afraid of the current economic situation which I understand but his current job isn't doing him any favors. So, I've decided to stop being his personal bank. My thought was that if I stop enabling him to act this way then he would HAVE to get another job and stop relying on the fact that I ALWAYS come running when he's in trouble. In 10 years I have never given him the chance to work it out and I realize that. And I also never asked him to repay not even a penny....well, I did but I knew Id never get it all back... But now I feel bad because he's overdrawn on his bank account and like I said he is a single dad....I'm just worried. I feel that I am so blessed and that I should be a blessing to him. Should I help...or should I just sit still? It just seems like a never ending cycle..... Thanks for all the great answers...and Hilary you are right...his daughter knows that I am giving her ALL of her Christmas and birthday presents. And even told me one time that her daddys job doesn't make enough money! It is rubbing off on her! moreResolved Question: Just what does the word "illegal" mean when we talk about illegal immigration?
We hide it under a bush and don't want to recognize that it has a meaning that should be enforced. Arizona has decided it can no longer afford to educate, employ and provide hospital care to people who are not U.S. citizens - especially when they are illegal immigrants who don't pay taxes and send the money they earn back to their homeland. It's time the immigration problem is confronted with determination. Arizona, other states and American citizens should be allowed to enforce some new rules and regulations. At least Arizona is doing something. No fence or barricade will ever be high, wide, strong and deep enough to keep an illegal immigrant out of this country. Even guards standing at our borders can easily be bought off with favors. The politicians and their donors want more illegal immigrants in America because they are a source of cheap labor. They also are a potential source of votes. These people should come in through the front door with passports, birth certificates and health records and prove that they can and will make a commitment to be a U.S. citizen. When families come illegally into our country, the adults are just teaching their family members that to be dishonest is forgivable, and the lesson is passed on for generations. I think we do talk too much, don't listen enough and don't pay enough attention to enforcing our laws. We should stop being the goody-goody people of the world and allowing other people to change the rules to suit their way of living. http://cjonline.com/opinion/2010-06-16/letter_enforce_the_law moreResolved Question: Should I contribute $100 to birthday gift?
Here’s the situation. I was invited to a birthday party and one of my friends told me all the guy are contributing $100 or less towards the gift. They already bought it and I told him I can contribute $50, and then he told me not to be cheap and be nice, and I owed the guy a lot more because he’s done favors for me in the past. I told him I’m a little tight right now and I he just informed me of this contribution and I wasn’t even expecting this. If I would’ve known earlier, I could’ve worked this out. I explain to him that I have no problem chipping in but to explain to me what the plan beforehand in the future. He sounded offended when I told him this. I’m a little upset because he just told me this at the last minute and I could use that money for myself. I did not see this coming at all. How should I resolve this? Should I contribute $100 anyways? moreResolved Question: Ok...so my mother doesn't understand me at all...?
My mother is always trying to 'make me happy' by giving me meager things that are not idyllic for a conducive family; for example, whenever we go out to do errands and such she will buy my sister and i some sort of fast food. yesterday even, she stopped at TWO fast food restaurants simply because my 3yo sister read the sign. Doing this is not giving us happiness but rather unhealthiness. And whenever we go to walmart or where ever, she will ask me if i want some of the cheap, useless clothes on the clearance racks. ugh. She doesn't realize how embarrassing it is. Her and my step dad seriously favor my sister more than I, for when ever she points to some outlandish, useless toy they buy her three. When ever i need something, it's either denied or given with complaints and painstakingly. My mother doesn't understand my emotions either. She assumes that every time im sad, that truly im just being a grumpy little b!tch with major pms. God. And when ever i try to explain my emotions to her, she compares them to her own. She doesn't understand my predicaments. Today even, she told me i "...Had better snap out of this mood, or else. [She] hates [me] when [i] act like this. [i] remind [her] of my real father." She thinks she has stress, all she does is sit at home all day getting fat and playing on facebook! I have to go to school and lately i've been more flustered than usual with exams and finals and projects. And right now she just came in to my room to 'say i love you'. No. She came in to see if i had taken the initiative to clean or anything. She yells at me for not cleaning, we she herself does not do anything at all! Lately though i've been trying to guilt trip her into realization by saying things like "You just don't get it, do you? God. It's so much easier talking to my real dad than it is talking to you." Etc. Please don't hesitate to give me further advice. moreResolved Question: Does anyone really think the jobs lost in U.S. will come back in the U.S.?

I'm 20, and recently was given 10,000 dollars from my uncle to invest. So here's the deal lol, my family and I plan to purchase bicycles soon. I haven't had a bike since I was much younger and don't know much about the different types. I have done some research, however, and have narrowed it down to two choices: a mountain bike or a hybrid bike. Since I'm new to this, I don't want anything that expensive, and I understand most mountain bikes are cheaper than hybrid bikes, so this is a plus in favor of the mountain bikes. I intend to ride around with my family (for fun, not really for commuting) and hopefully go on some trails sometimes. If I had a mountain bike, and the rest of my family had hybrid bikes, would they leave me in the dust when riding around, or would I just have to work a bit harder to keep up? I would really love some insight and advice from you guys. First off, I'm 22 years old, I just finished my first year of grad school. Right now, I'm going to school full time and work part time to cover my costs. Thankfully my tuition is covered so I don't have to worry about that. But to save money, because I don't make a lot, I live at home with my parents. I moved back after finishing undergrad. I've lived with my parents for a year now and there are it's ups and downs. More downs than ups, but I put up with it because they are doing me a favor allowing me to stay with them and it is their house. But lately things have gotten really......not good. My father has a very bad temper. He gets mad over every tiny thing, panics and starts screaming. I had to live with this growing up and I really don't want to deal with it anymore. He always takes his anger out on me. But like I said, I put up with it because it's cheaper. However, his temper is really getting out of hand and I feel like I need to leave at all costs. So I applied for a full time job and got it. But thing is, I only make ~35K a year and because it's a full time job, I will have to go to school part time, which means I'll lose my scholarship and have to pay tuition myself, in addition to an apartment. I can make ends meet, but it's definitely a struggle. I just don't really know what to do at this point. My options are 1. Suck it up and live at home for another year 2. Accept the job, prolong my graduation by a semester, but be on my own again. Thank you for listening moreResolved Question: Party favors for a baby shower?

Thanks! moreResolved Question: Is this a good thesis, body and conclusion?
I'll start the introduction with a quote. Here's my Thesis Statement: In the battle between public and private schools for the fluctuation cost of education, prices for tuition does favor private schools rather than public schools. The body mostly talks about how private schools are cheaper than public and obtain more governmental funding, which allows more chances of grant money and scholarships...But at the same time, this is something that must be earned and isn't given by means of almuni's or excelling ACT/SAT scores. With public schools, I kind of bash them in because their funding is cut a lot which really affects jobs and the ability to hire well trained professors which reflects on students abilities to obtain better grades. And on a third point, I state the other expenses for any average college you go to....Such as daily necessities, for food & parking & what not...What's not covered by scholarships and grants. My conclusion will be, "In conclusion, who exactly comes out on top for the favoritism between the prices of tuition between private and public schools? Private schools actually, because they offer more alternatives, better opportunities for you and a vast more majority of classes to choose from. While on the other hand, public schools are always having budget cuts due to the economy which affects the number of classes to choose from. But in all honesty, it’s up to you where you go. moreVoting Question: Alice in Wonderland 15th birthday party?

Okay so I know some people want to spend 20,000 or even 50,000 dollars on a wedding i respect that but i don't think weddings are about how much money you spend but about the love between the bride and the groom. well I was discussing some wedding plans with some family ( i'm paying for the wedding 100% on my own .....well with my fiance but my family is NOT helping) anyways i was told my plan would not work for the flowers because it looks childish and people will know i didn't spend tons of money. My plan was my maid of honor who is my sister and a bridesmaid who is my fiances sister will bring down the sand for the sand ceremony instead of a bouquet. the other two bridesmaids will have a single flower. I will have a bouquet but made of fake flowers because i HATE flowers but still want a bouquet. someone so clearly started i will look like trash if i don't spend at least 1000 dollars on my flowers alone. i ignored this and went on talking about my dress and showed some pictures , everyone talked about how much they loved until they found out i only spent 700 dollars on it. and then again it looked trashy? and too cheap, i guess i should be spending about 1500 on my dress and no less. here's a link to the dress. I love it! http://www.romanticbridals.com/Dress.asp?ID=2124. so i guess my flowers are too cheap and so is my dress. so we moved on to the invitations, menus, programs.and all that fun stuff, and when i showed them they talked about how wonderful the company that did them up ( my invitations and menus) did, how beautiful and totally me they were, until I explained I made them and again that makes them cheap and i should have paid someone to make them so they look better and more expensive i was told "you know some places will do them for 2 dollars a piece" I also don't want a cake, I hate the taste of cake its dry and gross my fiance feels the same way, we are discussing between having tarts, strawberry's or something else. I was told yet Again without a cake it looks to cheap. my so called family proceeded to let me to have a "real" wedding i should be spending at least 30,000 dollars or my guests are going to feel as if they didn't get what they deserved. I was also told i should buy the wine as a favour and not have my father in law make because i look cheap that way. Why are weddings all about how much money you can spend? and not about what really matters? How do i tell these people to back off? I don't want to spend tons of money on a single day! how do i handle this? or is it more important to spend more? ( our budget is 8000 we refuse to go higher then that and have been doing really well with staying on track) They funny thing is we are having about 80 guest serving a full meal desert and everything else except for booze! the meal is being catered by the venue we choose witch is a beautiful golf course. moreVoting Question: Is this a good thesis statement?
Our paper is going to be on the cost of education....I'm going to try & open my paper hopefully as a closed form essay and start with a question such as, "What may be a cause of an increase with the cost of education for our typical average college student and how might this affect them? For my thesis, I was hoping for it to be something such as, "In the battle between public and private schools for the fluctuation cost of education, the prices tend to appear in favor of private schools rather than public schools. By the way, as in favor I mean cheaper. moreResolved Question: Baby shower question and mother in law issues...?
Ok so i'm 29 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and my mom is throwing me a baby shower. The thing is i had a babyshower with my first child and my mom threw me a huge shower. It was at a hall and very expensive. Well my mother in law back then asked if there was anything she could do and my mom told her she could use the help and that my mil could get the cake and maybe put in $300 and get there a little early to help her decorate, well the shower came and she bought a cake (which she gets very cheap because she works where she got it) and that was it, didn't even show up to help decorate or even bring a camera (you would think it'd be something she'd want to remember since its her first grandchild) instead she stayed with her back facing me the whole time and was very rude. Talked to just her family the whole time and was constantly outside the hall chain smoking. Well anyway i got pregnant in august of this year and she asked me if i was having a shower, i said i didn't know since this was my second child and she made a comment saying" oh i'm sure your mom and i will throw u something" well i had a miscarriage in october and was devastated but ended up conceiving again in November, just one month later. When we started talking about the shower, my mil said "tell your mom i definitely want to do alot more this time because i'm in a different place now and want to help more" (when i had my first she was dating a guy my boyfriends age and he left her so she was depressed) Anyway, about a mth ago my boyfriend told his mom that my mom is going to be having the shower but my parents struggle to and that it'd be nice if she got the cake again and contributed some money like $200 and she was like "NO" Then she made all these comments "she has 2 parents with 2 incomes, i don't work full time(her choice cuz she's VERY lazy) blah blah blah" She has absolutely no bills. She lives with her mom, doesn't pay anything to her and doesn't drive. She spends the majority of her money on cigarettes! And my bf's brother and his gf live with the grandmom to and my mil favors them. If it was the girlfriends baby shower my mil would go all out for her! But she can't even help my mom a little bit and my parents actually have bills to pay and young children to care for, they struggle. My mil has no worrys and lives a very easy life. Well anyway my bf got upset and just told his mom that its not fair my mom does everything and we're just going to have a smaller shower with just my family so my mil got mad and said fine don't invite me and hasn't spoken to us in weeks. She's even taking it out on my son because he didn't have anything to do with this and she hasn't even called to speak to him or anything which is a whole other issue. She is all about going out to bars and having fun but goes mths without seeing my son and when she does see him its because i take him to her which i'm tired of doing. I could go on and on but my question is what would you all do about the babyshower situation? Let her come or leave things the way they are??? Thank you so much and please no rude comments because theres so much more as to what kind of person this woman truely is and i could be here all day but i feel like i took up enough of your time lol Thanks ladies. I also wanted to add that this is going to be a smaller shower. Its going to be at a house but there will be 35 people there and just the food adds up and the thing is i've said to my mom just have a couple lunch meat trays and call it a day but my mom is the type of person that goes all out and she has no problem doing everything but since my mil made those comments about helping this time my mom wanted to give her credit and also put her name on the invitation where it says thrown by so she told her the $200 and the thing is we would have totally understood if she was like "well i really don't have that but heres what i can do------" but she right away was like "No" and started saying all these ridiculous things about how my parents have more money, etc. Thats what made us get upset..her rude comments. She is just an aweful person and has always treated my bf like crap and favored his brother. She even goes as far to write rude comments on facebook! so we deleted her wow, believe me i'am far from selfish because i didn't even want a shower because i know they can be pricey and to u rude ass people i've offered my mom money for it but she wouldn't take it! We aren't mad about the money part, its her RUDE COMMENTS! And just the way she is in general! I don't understand why you type of people have to throw in your opinions, if you don't like my question then pass by it! I said no rude comments please but i guess you guys can't read moreVoting Question: 17th bday party ideas?
ok so i want to invite alot of people but i want to keep the whole idea small and as cheap as possible i was thinking about going to a pizza place and i want to get a cake from acme? is that a good idea? any suggestions and party favor ideas moreVoting Question: Sweet 16 Help Please?
1. Is it cheaper to rent a tent or to rent a ballroom 2.wat can i gave out for party favors for girls and boys (im not doing a theme) 3.wat games ca we play or do we have to play a game cause i don't want to moreResolved Question: Is this a good way to treat girls?
I just can't seem to get any girls to like me. I'm always nice and everything, but they ignore me just the same. I'm always willing to listen and be supportive, and I never try to impress them. What I've found is that the absolute worst way to try and impress a girl is by trying to impress her. I'm like the polar opposite of Tony Stark. I always offer to drive, pay, and any other favors. If she's already seeing someone, I acknowledge it and leave things alone. I have quite a few friends who are girls and usually, I'll just say something like, "If you need a cheap date or a plan B, I'm always here". I sort of came up with a theory (although I'm sure it's wrong) that the reckless and impulsive guys get more girls because they're more of a challenge need to be looked after, whereas guys like me aren't nearly as exciting. Is there any accuracy to this? moreResolved Question: Why doesnt Obama hire the illegal day laborers to cleanup the oil spill in Louisiana?
He would be doing the Hispanics a big favor - giving them jobs and securing the Democratic voting bloc for 2012. Besides, being cheap is Barry's middle name. moreResolved Question: TNA Slammiversary VIII Predictions thus far?
What do you think will happen at this point in time. Slammiversary's in 2 weeks. TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP “The Icon” Sting vs. Rob Van Dam (c) I think this match could go either way at this point. I think RVD will retain, but I don't see Sting just losing. I think the night will end with Sting attacking RVD after the retain, and maybe someone coming out and standing up to Sting. Maybe even giving him a beating himself? TNA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Matt Morgan and ??? vs. (c) The Band No clue who Morgan's tag team partner's going to be. I don't see "We" winning though. The Band comes through with a cheap victory? X DIVISION TITLE MATCH Kendrick vs. (c) Douglas Williams I've seen no hype for this match, so Douglas Williams wins I guess? Jeff Hardy & Mr. Anderson vs. Beer Money I see Hardy and Anderson getting the win at the PPV as long as they work together. In a high stakes match, I'd favor Beer Money with there experience together. But a grudge match at Slammiversary? Hardy and Anderson have been going over with the fans lately so I see them pulling out the victory. Kurt Angle vs. #10 Contender Kazarian If Kurt was going to lose on his quest up the top 10, I think it'd be against #10. If Kaz somehow pulls out a win with the help of Flaire, I wouldn't be to surprised. But I'm favoring Angle with the win of Kaz, and possibly some interference by AJ? BQ: What other matches do you see occuring at Slammiversary. I'm thinking something with Abyss and Wolfe. Yeah, I'm disappointed TNA removed King of the Mountain. That match made Slammiversary special. moreVoting Question: Where can I find a CHEAP replica of Bella's engagement ring OR the charm bracelet to use as a party favor?
I know there are lots of replicas in the $30-50 range, but I would like something to use as a PARTY FAVOR. It's totally ok if it looks cheap and/or cheesy . . . moreResolved Question: Please give me your CANDID opinion as to who should have won?
I have read complaints about friends or people who have been participating on this site together for awhile favoring each others answer over answers that was actually better than theirs. However I thought that I would never openly complain because it kinda looks like the complainer is just mad that he did not win. However, this is so blatant that I just have to share how classless and cheap I think this kind of thing is! Please give me your candid opinion as to what you think happened here. I think Wiseman unfairly gave it to Norman Bates because his answer wasn't even in the top 3 answers. It would also be amusing to hear from Wiseman himself if he responds in a civil manner. @ Norman Bates - I guess that can understand what you said,; you are right; he does not know me. But for the record, this is just what Ali and am completely aware that besides being a good man he also had other motives. The Black Muslims were at their peak in those days and used that time to try and recruit us and are other friends who were in the park that day. Oh well...thanks for you civil and honest response @ Dewey - if the question offends u or you do not understand it then try taking it for what it is and do not read anything into it or if you cannot then please just ignore it; because it was not meant for you. moreResolved Question: What is your favorite wedding favor you received from a wedding as a guest?
It can be anything, big or small, cheap or a little pricey. I'm having difficulty coming up with the best wedding favors for my guests, I've got a few things in mind but I'd love to hear what you all have enjoyed :) Thanks!! moreResolved Question: Is my best friend using me?
I often feel that my supposed best friend is taking advantage of me. Let me lay down some facts: We are both freshman in high school I frequently loan her money so she can buy food/snacks (cheap; @ most $1) I offer to loan her certain belongings of mine if she needs them I NEVER cease to do favors for her, nor to do favors that other people asked HER to do She seldom has to do the same, because I i simply come prepared with anything i need, and almost always extra: for her (You may already be able to conclude that i am a reliable person for her) Each time a bad event had occurred, she WAS there to hold me in her arms while i cried I do NOT believe that she is INTENTIONALLY, KNOWINGLY taking advantage of me Everyone is aware that she and I are best friends, but some people tend to spite our friendship by dragging her away from me (literally and mentally) and/or excluding me. I try to ignore it, but it still hurts. Maybe 75% of the time she just goes along with it. Yesterday i went to the beach with her and 6 other friends. Any way, I let her wear my flip flops since she forgot; she had only brought tennis shoes. I wore my own tennis shoes instead. Then she used my towel to dry her hands, because she was too lazy to get her own; i was fine with that until one of the main people who 'tend to spite our friendship' says, "Aren't you glad you have [my name]?" and my friend just laughed. That girl's comment along with my friend's nonchalant laughter implied that DOING THINGS [for my friend] is ALL that i'm good for, esp. since they all STILL excluded me after that. Well, I am not dependent on her. i expect nothing from her in return for the things i do for her. I'm a generous person and do these things for others as well. SHE is the one who is dependent on ME. would you not agree? moreResolved Question: How to deal with difficult roommate?
I thought I was moving in with a girl who had a bf, liked to chill on weekdays, and go out on the weeknds. Well, her and her bf broke up 3 days after we moved in, and it turns out she is completely not the girl I thought I moved in with. 1) I found out she's cheap and stingy with $ & doesn't remember prior agreements. We agreed on buying/splitting a litter mat for the cats so they don't track litter in the house. I bought one, it cost $10, then put it on our spreadsheet of bills to be split. She then tells me that if I want to buy something for the cats, I need to let her know ahead of time if I expect to be reimbursed, wth?? 2) I think "neglect" is a good word to describe how she treats her dog. Her dog has pooped in my room 2x (stupid me, left door open on accident) and gone through my trash. He has also pooped in her room once, but she never told me, maybe she was embarrssed? Then she came up with the excuse that maybe it's his dog food. She doesn't give him attention, and she is gone 6 nights out of the week partying, and when she comes home late, her dog barks or whines like mad, waking me up, even during work week. The most attention she gives him is the 2 minute walk in the morning, and when she comes home from work, before she goes out to party. She doesn't even check to see if his food/water bowl is filled. I have to feed the poor guy. 3) I have already done favors for her. I went out of my way to get her debit card left at the bar because she suddenly had a bill to pay that day, and she coudln't leave work. This weekend, she's planning to go out of town, and asked me, no wait, BRIBED me to watch her dog. She first asked if my bf and I want the house to ourselves, then she said she's gonna be gone and needs someone to watch her dog. I told her no, that I'm going out of town too. Then she starts being 'cool' with me. 4) This is silly, but I bought bananas and forgot to eat them. They were brown spotted, but not black. She complained they were bringing in nats, and I threw them out. Then she bought her own bananas, and they too, went brown, but did I complain? nope. 5) She has brought home 3 guys in 3 weeks. She told me she has only slept with one of them, but I "heard" differently, since our bedrooms are connected. I complained since they wake me up during the work week, but she tells me these guys aren't strangers, and she would never bring home anyone that will hurt us. 6) She has openly criticized my life because I stay home and don't have a life on weekdays. I'm sorry, I can't afford to go out 6 nights a week, and I work full time (which she does too, and she lives off of rockstar energy drinks as a result). When I get home from work, I like to chill and go to the gym, and sometimes go see my bf. But since I'm not a bar 6 nights a week, I guess that means I don't have a life. What can I do? I've only lived with her a month, and I'm losing my mind! Lease is up next year, and I am def moving out by myself! moreCheap Favors Search Results
