Open Question: What happens when someone of a very low caste in India makes it out of India and becomes rich visits India?
If an Untouchable for example goes to the US or Switzerland or somewhere similar gets a great education and earns a lot of money climbing in social status(as far as the world outside of India is concerned), when he returns to India is he limited to going to places where the Pariah are or can he mingle with the Vaisyas or even Kshatriyas?
I know this question may sound stupid but there is absolutely nothing common-sensical about how the caste system works.
I'm writing a paper, btw.
moreOpen Question: GCSE resit question, your opinions please?
Hello there, I'm a 17 year old who wishes to resit his GCSEs. I'll give a story of my current situation. I want to resit my GCSEs as I got pretty crappy results , due to my stupidity and decision not to study or revise for any of my subjects, I just came to school to laugh, and then go home and sit on the PC all day playing an MMORPG which I got addicted to.
Now before anyone is like "it's your fault" or "get a job" I know I know, however I wish to take the generic path of education, go to school and then university. I don't want to get a job with minimum wages, I want to do A-levels and get a degree in Computer Science. I was doing a BTEC course for IT before, I was finally happy to leave secondary school, thinking "oh I'm such a big boy now, college time", however it was about 2 months in when I realised, "wow, I'm sick of waking up 6:00am in the morning to reach the bus, taking 80 minute journeys, the hell is this, I should have stayed in secondary." It wasn't only that, at the beginning of the course we had been enrolled in "Key Skills" classes for level 2 Maths and English. Our classes were pretty DAMN easy, then I was thinking, what is the point of getting this weak qualification, when I could just take GCSEs, the mindset of my classmates were such, "nah screw GCSEs man , what's the point anyway this is like a GCSE". I argued countless times explaining how there is no point doing it at all etc, you should just do GCSEs they are easy, all you need to do is revise, I knew all of this, all you needed to do was revise, I had obtained 3 6a's for my year 9 SATs , with just 30 minutes of revision occasionally, I got put into the highest set for each subject, from there it was good. But then I found this bloody MMORPG which I got addicted to, from there my grades plummeted, my mindset to education changed, I didn't care about getting those little certificates given out at assembly's to congratulate me, I never worked for them anymore.
Now one year has passed and I've dropped the course, I got stressed complaining about the huge transition from a 10 minute walk to my local school, to an 80 minute journey, I never go out, however I got used to taking buses from this. (It was my first time taking buses alone).
However guys, now I wish to know of any options I have or what you recommend I should do. I've googled here and there, searched the Connexions website, but these don't give me an in depth answer. I wish to go back to my secondary school, but I'm worried that the teachers will take the piss out of me, (I was very lazy and incompetent, didn't hand in coursework, didn't take anything serious in front of them), and the fact that I'd be going a year later, my friends would have retaken their GCSEs already, I don't know which classmates I'd have, if they'd be the current year 11's who failed their GCSEs, and are now retaking them, I wouldn't know anyone in my class, I'm not even sure if my secondary school would take me back.
Does anyone know if it's possible to resit your GCSEs for free as a 17 year old, without having to attend secondary school? Is there any other way to obtain them, legit of course. :P
Do you think I should grow some balls and check if my secondary school would take me again, and if they do, how can I cope with the younger ones below me resitting their GCSEs, since I'd be a year late, not knowing any of them, I don't know if they'll talk crap. :x
I want to make my parents proud, and to be able to financially support them in the future when they retire, they work hard and I don't want them to see me as this lazy slob who doesn't do crap, they are more than happy to pay for my university fees despite our family not being the richest, but we get on fine. I just find it so hard to get off my *** right now despite all this opportunity.
Note: I apologise if you encounter any poor grammar, sentence or paragraph structure, it's 4:55am right now and I'm bored as hell, so I decided to ask the internet about this. Thanks, I hope someone reads all of this. :)
moreOpen Question: How should I go about bringing up my engagement?
So, yesterday my boyfriend proposed. Needless to say, I am ecstatic. The ring is lovely (albeit a tad bit loose) and we are entirely committed to one another. The issue is announcing the engagement to our families. I am 17 (18 in two months) and he is almost 19. We have been dating about 5 months, but have had feelings for one another for 7 years and known each other just as long. We both have finished high school with honors and are going to college in the fall, though in separate states. Obviously we are quite young, which is something our families will bring up, most likely in a negative sense. We have no date set and don't plan on marrying until at least 2013 at the earliest when I transfer to a university in his new state of residence. We both have held steady jobs and are committed to education before nuptials. How do you think we should bring the subject up and explain why we are ready for this responsibility? Also, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
*By the way, our families do know each other and get along quite well. We are actually next-door neighbors.
Thank you, everyone, for taking time to give me your input!

I know it's pretty bad to not have friends of both genders, but it's just kinda the way it's happened since i've grown up. I was always a guys guy and never really hung around with many girls, but since school i haven't become friends with any girls and would like to, only problem i have is how? I don't work at the moment and i'm not in education, and they are probably the best places to meet girls/friends. I am planning on going to University next year, so hopefully i'll meet some girls then.
moreOpen Question: anyone else think that 6-7 year olds should not be having sex ed ?
ok guys first i think sex education is a brilliant scheme and im glad it is on offer, although i hate to think that my child will be learning about such things at such a tender age... does anyone else feel like this?
i dont want her exposed to sex before her early teens, but obviously before she herself discovers sex. i guess i just dont want her knowing about all that stuff to early, why couldnt we just keep to the 'i found you behind cabbage in the garden' birds and the bees routine while they are still children, i have been brought up in the real world and was always quite forward in my years, but even i didn't even think of having sex in my early teens ...
i guess what im afraid off is if she is exposed to it too early on she will think its ok and normal because she 'knows the facts'... which is good but i dont want her having sex full stop to early
do you think i am panicking to much ? do you agree or disagree sex ed should be given in schools so young. i am not looking for a argument i just want to know what you think and why ? kind regards x
yh i understand i am not naieve but i always thought this was something a parent should do for themselves so you can tell them more about the facts of life with it not just what part of the body does what

moreOpen Question: I cant trust my boyfirend anymore and i havent got a clue what to do. Please help!?
okai, ive been seeing this guy for about five years and its been really on and off.
The first 18 months of our relationship went fine but then my mother passed (i was 14 at the time) and i became rather depressed and pushing people away etc...
He then broke up with me to consentrate on studies. In the end tho he left education and continued a relationship with me. But the timing was horrible, i was really busy and he was working a lot so we could never see each other leading to another separation.
When things had cooled down we started up a relationship again but he seemed to be interested in another girl who happened to be a friend of mine. Soon it became clear he was very interested in her and so i ended the relationship on the basis i didnt what to suffer the humiliation of being left for some smaller and prettier model. She did not date him in the end because she felt it to be wrong and didnt want a strain on the firendship.
Later we started up again after he assurred me that i was the only one he was interested in. but he indeed left me for someone. they dated for three months then he came to me one day saying that it was a mistake and he wanted me.. it took a while to accept it but i wasnt ready to let go. so we went back out.
We then had to break it off again because we were getting threatened and abuse for restarting the relationship. it was on a mutral basis that i couldnt handle a relationship when i had so many other things to be dealing with such as my step mum walking out on me.
When things cooled down we started up again. but it ended again because he felt he couldnt trust me as i wasnt telling him "everything" that was going on in my life. we still argue about the consept of privacy and such.
Since then we have broken up once cos he wanted to have an open relationship with me as he was into another girl again but also didnt want to lose me and i wasnt having that. So i told him to get his mind in order or there is no chance things will work.
Well he wants to give it another go and i dont think i can do that. I dont trust him and i know that he is flirting with all these other girls and asking them stuff like what they were wearing and while he has never cheated on me he has left me for someone else more than once so i dont know if we should sit down and talk about why things just arent working and see if we can come to some sort of answer and try to work it out or whether to walk away and remain friends.
I need advice on what to do or say to him
thanks xx

If you cross the United States border illegally you get:
1 - A job
2 - A driver's license
3 - A Social Security card
4 - Welfare
5 - Food stamps
6 - Credit cards
7 - Subsidized rent or a loan to buy a house
8 - Free education
9 - Free health care
10 - A lobbyist in Washington
11 - Billions of dollars in public documents printed in your language
This mostly sounds like complete crap to me? Is it true?
If it is I am on my way.
Thanks
All seeing eye. You didn't answer the question you doofus. I am not complaining, I am asking if that list of stuff is true. I want to move to the USA but its probably the most difficult country in the world to get in legally, so if they give you all that illegally I may as well just move there.
I am mostly interested in an ss number and a job, thats all i need really.

I have approx 3years experience in implementing systems/ coordinating project but in a higher education. I want to try and break into those big management consultancy firms like Accenture, IBM, Deloitte Consulting, etc but most company's grad schemes ask for a 2.1 + 300 ucas points at least (i didnt do very well for my A-levels). I am doing a SAP course so i can be certified in a few weeks time, not sure how much this will add to consultancy but it has a 2months internship, so i need the experience.
Im so determined to make it but sort of feel stuck esp with the grad schemes & MBA are quite expensive. How else can i break in apart from the usual....have a strong CV, networking, do contracted jobs first (if i ever get it)......sensible advice only pls !! I really didnt spend the last 3mins of my time typing this for fun. Thank you in advance to those who took time to read this and reply to it.

So my life-story is that in:-
Primary school - I had a small crush on a class clown on the 6th grade.
High school - 5 years straight I fall for another class clown, we were close enough to be friends.
College/sixth-form- First year - This class clown fall-in for me (like hell of a lot, according to what me and my friends can tell, 99% sure) and then I started liking him as well! Basically this one went a bit far!
For my education I didn't get the courses I wanted for my A levels, so I decided That I’m moving college next year and before I go I really wanted to tell him I liked him. So I asked him the Last Friday (few days before school last day of school) That can I talk to him, he seemed kind of scared, n I told him that “I just want to clear it up that yes I do like you. I’m not expecting any reaction but I felt that I need to tell you because I don’t want to regret it in the future” He seemed really shy n he was trying to control his smile…he goes “don’t worry. fear enough”

So basically he didn't know I was leaving, but he found out on the last day of College. After finding out that I’m leaving College next year and all my friends and his friends can tell that he was sort of depressed and upset they all said that he was keep on staring at me from a distance and he knew that my friends can see him looking at me, though my friends said that it didn't seem liked he cared that they knew that he staring at me. And so he just got up walked towards the door looked at me for the last time and left College early…
I only have facebook as where I can keep in contact with him (no number or MSN) and now like a week through the holidays I just checked my facebook friends list and he's usually the first one on their and now he wasn't. I searched him up and saw that he removed me as a friend. And trust me he didn't do it by mistake. My friends all just said he's being a jerk!
So basically after explaining all the above, I don't want to fall for another class clown again! So ladies I need your advice! Because I'm going to a new college next year and I don't want history to repeat it self! How do I Not fall for another class clown again???

moreOpen Question: Some Advice Appreciated?
My name is David I’m a 19 year old male from the UK, for the last few months now I have picked up what I consider to be very mild OCD or then again it could be anything or nothing. I have what seems to be a constant obsession/inclination to compare others who appear to be above me in a 'class’ (an outdated term however I can't think of an easier way to express it) from status, family, education, work to voice tone amongst other traits.
This can include people I encounter on a day to day basis for example at work to people I see on and hear in the media, TV radio etc. Today I realised something was wrong when I noted down the postcode of someone I encountered at work without their realisation simply because they came across as having a more privileged upbringing so I could look at their house on Google street view... I simply don't know what's wrong with me maybe I’m ill, I don’t have any history of mental illness nor does this obsession manifest in any other ways… anyone with similar experiences or advice much appreciated.

moreOpen Question: Help! Should my son be held back a year at school?
Hi I need some advice. My son is due to start year 3 in September, but Im really concerned. I moved my son to a new school in November of 2009 as his old school didnt seem to bother with his education, and just let him play outside all the time (they used a teaching technique known as 'free play' which is learn through play), and I was worried he was falling behind. These concerns were confirmed at his new school, even though he was in year 2 he was at the level of a child just starting yr1. He has slowly bagan to catch up but his reading, writing and maths is still really behind. There have been times when he has sat at home and cried because he says all the other children can do the work set in class and he cant. I have no faults with his new school as he has plenty of support lesson and help, but Im worried hes just going to end up falling further and further behind. He can read words unless theyre his 'bear words', hes still on books that are given to children just starting yr1 and when writing he has to have a alphabet in front of him as he cant remember letters, and as for maths he cant even add to single digits together without having cubes infront of him, and a letter I got from school said that they wanted us to practice the 2,5 and 10 times table how can he learn these when he cant do simple things like 4+5 with out cubes?
Do you think I should appeal to the Head Mistress to get him held back in yr2 giving him an extra year to catch up? It wouldnt make much diffrence to him as he was born the end of August which is the end of the school year. And what if the Head Mistress refuses to hold him back are there any appeals I can hold and tests that can be done just to show how far behind he is? Please anyone who has been through a similar situation or is a head teacher and could give some advice please help me!
Hi thanks for all the advice. My son has had an evaluation with a paedratition just to be sure there are no medical reasons being behind at school and from what she said is that she suspects hes overactive.
I help him as much as I can at home, but he can be a little slow in learning new things so it takes him twice as long. But thanks for all the advice its made me feel much better and less of a failure as a mum, so Thanks

moreOpen Question: BiPolar Affective Disorder is killing me?
I'm only young, but my life feels as though it's over. I've been diagnosed with BiPolar Disorder. Life has rarely been enjoyable, despite enjoying the odd hypomanic episodes. Ever since I've been young there's been problems with my mental health. The doctors once thought I had ADHD, mainly because of my constant hyperactivity and destructive behaviors. I was disliked as a child because of the disorder, I was rude, hateful and abusive towards people and my parents. Luckily I grew out of my ADHD and started a life for myself.
I moved out of the family home when I was thirteen, I had my reasons. My mother and father broke their relationship, we moved in and out of hostels and homes for three years. I never once had a place to call home. My mother entered a violent relationship. The guy she was with attacked her, me, and my brothers and sisters. He urinated on her, he beat me, he stabbed me. He also had mental health difficulties, besides him being an alcoholic as well. My father knew nothing, my mother asked me and my siblings to keep it a secret. My mother is also ill from a lung disease, because of this I spent many days off school to take care of her whilst my dad was off making a life for himself. (I left home for one reason, my mother told me to "leave and don't come back")
As mentioned before I left home and moved 100 miles away from our family home. I entered a relationship with a 46 year old man, when I was only thirteen. He treated me well, he got me a job, he put me in college and we're still generally good friends. I'm not in a relationship with him anymore, I just didn't love him. Besides he used me in a degree were I was giving him sexual favors for a chance of a job and college education. To this day today I still live with him. At the age of thirteen I thought I had life figured, boy was I wrong. I made mistakes, major ones. I sold myself for sex with him, and other men. I made the decision not to speak to my family and withdrew myself from them for six months. I was alone, I was scared, I was depressed.
Over the past two years I've had major difficulties with my mental health. I started to become impulsive and hyper, sometimes impulsive in a sexual nature. And sometimes obsessive spending. I then soon became depressed, suicidal, withdrawn. Some days I wouldn't leave my bed, I didn't shower, I didn't talk. I didn't eat. Over this period I've taken three over-doses, two failed jumps out of the window and one major incident were I jumped on a bridge overlooking a train-track. I broke my leg and hand. Because of these mood swings I've been sectioned twice in the past six months. Needless to say this hasn't helped at all. I was sectioned because of the suicide attempts and because I kept sleeping around, crashing cars, drinking, spending and one brief psychotic episode which I thought I was being stalked by the devil and bugs.
I've taken over ten different medications. None have really helped to be perfectly honest. I'm now on lorazepam, depekote, mitrazepine and seroquel. Most recently my problems have been with depression. I left the hospital one month ago today. Since then I haven't left the house, I haven't spoke with family, I'm over eating, I'm over sleeping and most troublingly I'm thinking of hurting myself again.
My mood has never been stable, always one extreme to the other. My sister and aunt has Bipolar disorder and my brother has OCD. My family relationship isn't the problem at the moment. Although most of my siblings (including my dad) has a vendetta with my mother. Probably because of the past. This is upsetting me, I love my mother and I feel she is trying her best. But everyone is against her. Most recently because she is BACK with her abusive partner and hiding it (obviously) from her loved ones.
In the end I've lost three jobs, the love of my life, college and probably the future because of the mistakes I've made. I usually end up abusing medications as a form of 'self medicating' as well. The only comfort I have is my two little dogs, who I love dearly.
[Medication doesn't work from experience]
[Hospital makes things worse]
[I'm still living with a guy who tries to pay me off for sex]
*AND*
My family love this guy! Their better friends with him than me, despite me telling my mother about these 'sexual' favors.
What help truly is there for me? I need a friend.

I grew up on a really rough council estate in the 80s and even the local school sucked, as instead of encouraging people to speak properly so they can get on in society, it was run by hippies who encouraged kids to act like that and dragged everybody down so that even white kids were told to be ashamed of themselves and all the culture taught was from other places.
I had to try hard to go against all that with adult education in better areas and talking dictionaries so that I pronounce words properly.
Then suddenly an ex boyfriend found me on facebook and he's still exactly the same and living in the same area. To be honest I have a soft spot for him as he was the first boy I kissed. We have both been married and divorced and he wants to meet up with me, but I'm not sure if I should just leave the past where it was and not bother?

We have both been married and divorced and he wants to meet up with me, but I'm not sure if I should just leave the past where it was and not bother?

When it comes to mass media, crime, education and many other things.
Do you ever just think or observe about such issues? As in how generally speaking of course how much of the society is passive? those who think they are active, how active are they really? How institutions can control people? How the mass media is structured and the education system? Is it all really meritocratic? What makes something illegal and why do governments decide to label something as criminal/deviant at that particular time? Why on news are we only shown certain clips of certain time? Are the clips shown really from the date specified? Why are alot of middle class children in top educational institutions compared to working class? Does the education system really judge intelligence? Why are many news reporters unprofessional e.g. Bill O'Reilly? Does the economy need to be hugely restructured than just merely tweeking the fiscal/monetary/supply side policies? Do we need new policies?
These are just some questions I personally find intriguing and like to discuss with my friends sometimes, but obviously being 18 they are not interested lol.
What makes society intresting to you? What sort of questions do you wonder about society as a whole or seek the answers to?
I hope this made sense or at least kind of

moreOpen Question: im 20, and maybe thinking of doing my maths and english GCSE's again?
I finished school with no qualifications apart from a C in my GVNQ ICT and a C in Drama.
i went to collage and studied a national diploma in photography, i did get my qualification but left early due to finance issues.
I still have no idea what i want out of life, whether i should go travelling or go back into education. Being a barman since then really hasn't helped any situation, and realise its time for a change.
maybe if i went back and studied my maths and english this could really give me some kind of direction in life... what do you think?
Also, its the fact that i dont actually have those two major qualifications. i was thinking if i did them again i would have a good chance in opening some doors?
Another quick question... i understand to be apart of the police force, i will need my maths and english, but would else could i study to give me a good chance in joining them?

to which I answered with this list of areas that men are oppressed in..
Discriminated against in family law.
Receive harsher sentencing
Blamed for everything the ruling class does and did
Lied about - wage gap, domestic violence, child abuse etc
Discriminated against in victim support
Discriminated against in education
Male rape is seen as a joke
Female abuse and murder of children is brushed under the carpet, male children are disproportionately affected
Female domestic violence is brushed under the carpet
Female paedophilia is brushed under the carpet
Dominate all areas of hardship - suicide, homelessness, poverty, unemployment, "death jobs", lowest jobs
Demonised in the media
Demonised by fraudulent pseudo science (women's studies)
No reproductive rights
Work longer
Work more hours
Receive less health research funding
Die sooner
So, is the oppression of the modern western woman just a feminist construct?
I know that they can point to disparities in politics but that can be easily addressed by more women taking an interest, in other words its not oppression is a situation that arises out of women exercising free will, same goes for all positions that require decades of uninterrupted 60-70 hour weeks, same goes for wage gap.
Domestic violence cant be cites as the newer research show that women are more aggressive and that the strongest predictor of her being injured in domestic violence is her own violence.
Rape cant be cited either because when prison rapes are included men are raped more than women, and nobody cares.
So, do western feminists have any legitimate claims to gender oppression, if so what are they?
Geraldine has posted some minor examples, most of which are untrue.

I live in the UK. I'm 16 and I'm going into year 12 in September. I have to go to my school sixth form because I've applied for it and it's nearer to my house. I dislike many people who are going there because they seem to hate me for no reason whatsoever. Since primary school up to now there have been two particular girls who have made other people dislike me too and they have taken friends away from me. Also, they always tried to find a way to make me feel bad, but I just ignored them. There are even people who used to spread rumours I used to be shy but I've changed completely and now I'm more confident. I've had a very tough time in that school. I 'm aiming high for my education so apparently sixth form in a way is better than going to college. What shall I do?

moreVoting Question: Have you ever thought about applying to Immigrate to Canada ?
Canada is a great choice for Britons who are fed up with the crime, crumbling cities and corruption of life in the UK. It is a huge country ( only Russia is bigger in area ) and it has a modern, safe and friendly society, where people from all over the globe live in harmony.
Un-like a move to the EU nations, you will not need to learn a new language in Canada, but you will need to be willing to learn how to live differently for sure. One simple difference is the weather. Today in my city, Toronto, it is 29 C with a humidex rating of 34 C. It has not rained in 3 weerks and the days are long and sunny in the spring summer and autumn. Yes it does snow in the winter, and it does stay on the ground, BUT we have been lving with it for 300 years, so we don't shut down the country when we get 20 cm of the white stuff. We simply keep on living and enjoying the out doors life that Canada offers.
Canada is looking for well educated University graduates, and mechanical or technical trades certificate holders, who have a minimum of 5 years of working history in their field of expertise. Those who don't have that kind of education or training will not be accepted. British trained Police officers, with a minimum of 5 years of service, are encouraged to apply to come to Canada. Once they have been re-trained, they begin at approx 28,000 UK pounds a year, and rise to 40,000 pounds at 5 years of service.
Nurses, Medical Doctors and medical technicians are all "in demand " in Canada. So are oil and gas field workers and most aviation trades.
So , have you thought about moving to Canada, from the UK ?
PS : I am NOT a immigration consultant, simply a Canadian citizen who would like to see more British people come to Canada. We need more good, hard working immigrants here.
Jim B. Toronto.
Thinking :
The last time I looked, being "British " was a nationality, not a racial group.
So yes, I'd be happy with all of those "groups " you mentioned in your post.
Jim B.
Why so:
It isn't that you "Can't go to the theatre or the park " It is that you don't like to do that ". Isn't that more accurate ?
My question to you would be this........How can you know that a person is a "illegal " until you question them about their citizenship ? Surely you know that a person can be "from anywhere " and still become a US citizen by naturalization ". ?
Sounds a bit racist, on your part ?
Jim B.
moreVoting Question: A Level & Further education confusion... Please Help!!?
Hii,
I'm a year 11 pupil who currently left and am thinking to go on and do A levels (English Lit, History, Drama and Media/Philosophy or maybe French (as AS))
In my GCSE's I am predicted all A's and above but will be content if I get B's and above.
I studied English Lan, Media, History, French, Drama, Science(Double), Psychology, Citizenship, R.E., Maths, Statistics and ICT.
As an individual I am found to be a strong character with what people would call 'wisdom' and 'confidence' so I have no trouble meeting people and gaining opportunities.
My problem is that I don't know whether to to the IB or A Levels..
My school is trying to force me to do the IB as they think I would be the 'perfect candidate' but I am sure they are doing it for the money.
I don't mind about if I do the IB I can go to America for better opportunities because my Dad lives there and as his child I am eligible to gain citizenship.
In A Levels the lowest grades I am looking to get is A's and I hope to attend a Russel Group Uni and do a degree in English and a conversion to a masters in Law.
In the future my career plans are to be a magazine editor/journalist, Lawyer or a Headteacher.(In that order of preference)
Is it ok that I did English Language GCSE but am doing Literature or should I do Language?
Would anyone recommend the IB instead of A Levels?
Are my A Level choices ok?
And does anyone have info on my A Level choices (Books, easiness, topics etc.)
Thanks
: )

moreVoting Question: I want to visit the U.S after I graduate (probably in February, before uni starts), but...?
I want to avoid San francisco. My Aunty and grandfather lives in San Francisco, and my Aunty, Uncle and cousin immigrated there not long ago and they're just settling in. My cousin, being the a very spoilt boy (he's 21 or 22) and being an only child cause of the one child policy in China, gives me attitude. The numerous times I've visited china a couple of years ago, he has not made any attempt to talk to me. I use to get along with my aunty (who just immigrated to the US) very well. Now, when my mum makes me talk to her, it seems so awkward. My cousin, being dopey, giving me (and probably everyone) attitude, needed an English name. I, being friendly (over the phone), offered names like Oliver, Vincent, Peter, Alexander, Matthew.. because they suit him and don't seem that common. And he rudely showed no interest in what I suggested. (Wish I can tell him to go F*ck himself). He's the reason why I chose not to immigrate to America. I love my cousins who I live with here in Australia. They're from my dad's side and they understand me. I grew up with them and it would be hard for me to leave them so I rejected my aunty's offer of organising me immigrate there.
Now, i just don't want to see him and i've been wanting to go to the U.S for a holiday before I start the next stage of my education. By the way, I'm from Australia and I'm 17.
What should I do? If I go to America, relatives would expect me to go to San Francisco. Should I just go to other places other than San Francisco? I'm thinking New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando and probably Miami. How can I do this? What excuse can I give to not go to San Francisco? Also, can you recommend other cities I could visit?
Thanks catmandu, I was thinking of those cities too. My friend went to San Diego and all i talk about is shop. My mum went to San Francisco, doesn't sound fun from what I heard...cause of boring ass relatives.

There are so so so many questions on here from religious believers which go along the line of ''If God isnt responsible for ............ then how do you explain it?'' All of the questions can be and are explained rationally and a lot of them are of secondary school science understanding.
Yes there are other factors as mentioned but does this play a major part?

moreResolved Question: Why are the UK goverment sending aid to china?
They are the second most powerful country in the world and their GDP is much higher than ours.
At a time when the UK is in dire financial straits, education spending is being slashed, jobs are threatened, and we have a debt of £200000 per household, courtesy of the incompetence of New Labour, why are we still sending aid to China?
Chinese industry is thriving, thanks to the British consumer and "British firms" dumping their workforce in favour of Chinese workers, decimating our industry, we buy £999 of goods off them for every £1 they buy off us. To cap it most of the money we borrow is FROM china, so are we just giving them money to lend back to us?
Why are we still sending aid to China, In 5-10 years they will be the world superpower, will we still be sending aid to them then? What is wrong with our stupid country?
moreResolved Question: DS: Would your political stand change if there was a change in BSL where you come from?
I am having a little argument on Facebook right now. I said that I would vote conservative in the next British election if the current goverment (Conservative and Liberal coalition) repealed BSL.
BSL is the only issue I feel really strongly about. Somebody is telling me that it is idiotic for me to stand my views on politics due to a dumb dog law when there are lots of issues regarding children, education, etc., which are much more important.
If BSL in your area was repealed by a government that you generally didn't support, how would it change your opinion of them? Would you support them in future?
I don't believe anybody should tell anybody else what should/should not matter to them.

I hereby present my situation in the hope that someone can help.My case its the following,I realized the examination of over 23 in Portugal where I had pass and began attending the University.
But for reasons that are beyond me university (Modern) was bankrupt and i cant complete the 1st Year or any discipline, and I had to wait two years to the ministry of education to pass me my certificate proving that attended college.
If i continued living in Portugal to continue my studies at university I had only to present these certificates at other universities and request transfer of educational establishments.
Now as for family reasons I am living in England do not know how to act in order to continue my studies.
What do you think of my situation, what should I do and where should I turn? Should I translate the documents or send them anyway for the University where I plan to join?
