Open Question: my new Universal charger smells burned plastic?
my original HP charger kinda broke (well, something happened to the wires inside and it stopped working) and i recently bought a universal charger its worked ok for the first day, i had to put it at 18V to make it charge and 16V to run without passing in the battery. the next day, i used my laptop outside without charger, and it ran really low, so i left it charging for about an hour, i smelled this horrible smell, when i ran to the charger and lifted it, it threw it back, it was burning hot (i couldn't even lift it for 3 seconds!!) and the small was really bad and very strong! i was scared it would explode and burn the house so i unplugged it let it cool off....tried it again a few hours later, (this time on 16V only) and it did the same, actually it was worst! it took less then an hour for it to heat up and it started to make this really annoying buzzing sound.... what should i do??? (im now using a desktop computer, but i need my laptop really badly because of all the stored up data!!!!) moreOpen Question: Time for New computer?
Okay, so. I've had this laptop for about for years. Toshiba, Windows XP. I use it pretty consistently for online gaming such as WoW, or Shin Megami Tensei. Usually everything runs great--However, lately I've been having issues. When I'm logged into a game, it will lag every 5-15min and the lag will last about 1-5min before the computer cools off and everything returns to normal.--Other then games, My browsers take some time to load now as well, it will think for a few minutes and sometimes lag before fully loading the page, when it had never done that before. Now I want to know, does this mean I need a new laptop/desktop? Or, is it a simple case of replacing the battery, ect. More informaiton would be really helpful, thank you. :) Four years.* moreOpen Question: should i get a laptop?
i have desktop computer and everything but in school is the problem i mean the laptops are AWFUL soo baddd its weather the battery is dead or is updating and many more which wastes my time in the lesson and its sooo annoying because all friends would be ahead of me because they have there own laptops. soo should i have one, i just wish there latops worked properly and i will use my usb stick and plug it in to my computer. so what do you think ? moreResolved Question: Serious problem with CS4 using auto-blend?
Ok, so I am having a CS4 crisis. I have CS4 extended education version. I have an HP laptop and an HP desktop. The laptop runs Vista and the desktop (which I just bought yesterday) runs Windows 7. I was using the laptop on Monday to do stacks for jewelry shots which I have done before with out any problem except that it takes several minutes for the auto-blend mode. After I did a few images using the auto-align and then auto-blend process, it started to freeze up on me. It would do the auto-align but after beginning the auto-blend mode it would freeze and say that Photoshop was not responding. I tried several times but it wouldn't work. I made it up in my mind that the problem was the laptop, which I must admit I dropped a couple of weeks ago. The battery took the brunt of the impact though and the laptop seemed to be fine. So yesterday I went and bought a desktop, figuring that it would run better. After six images made using the auto-align and auto-blend, it also started to freeze during the auto-blend model. Now, I can go back and redo the earlier shots that I used for stacks and go through the process again. But if I try to do it with images not yet used it will not work. Ihave been to the Adobe website and couldn't find anything. I had already installed the most recent updates before this happened. Having it happen on two computers makes me suspect of the software. I have to be able to do these stacks. Has anyone heard of this problem before? If so do you know what I can do? And please don't say to get CS5 because I can't upgrade my education version and I cannot buy CS5 after just buying this new desktop. And I can't take the desktop back and buy CS5 instead because I know my laptop won't run it. My laptop has 4GB RAM but the desktop has 6GB. And the files I have already stacked are the same size as the ones if froze up on. I was using RAW files and so I even tried using the JPEGs and that didn't work either. Ok, I increased my cache and memory in photoshop preferences and that seems to have fixed the problem, with the desktop anyway. For now. I increased both on the laptop but it still freezes. moreVoting Question: Acer Aspire Timeline or Asus?
I have been doing laptop shopping for the last 2 months and have come down to several computers. Bluetooth connectivity and HDMI ports are not on the top of my list nor is a cd/dvd drive (I have a desktop for that plus I have a portable dvd player and an 8 gig memory stick as it is so I'm not too worried). I am looking for something extremely portable that has a long battery life. I am looking for something that I can do basic internet/word processing/goofing around (e.g. some very light photo editing and very light video editing, listening to music, streaming video online, etc.). I have come down to the following and wondering which might be better (keep in mind that although the Asus has only 2 gb DDR2 [800 mhz], it is upgradable to 4 gb): Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810T-8968 Notebook w/ diamond cut Olympic Games logo Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.30GHz 11.6" HD 1366x768 4GB RAM 320GB HDD Intel GMA 4500MHD 802.11abgn, Gb LAN Bluetooth Webcam Card Reader Windows 7 Home Premium http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=570_577_366&item_id=028824 ASUS UL20A-A1 Ultra-Slim Notebook, Silver Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz 12.1" HD LED 2GB DDR2 250GB SATA Intel GMA X4500MHD 802.11bgn, Gb LAN Card Reader Webcam Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=570_577_366&item_id=027744 I am really stuck between the 2 - I know Asus builds better computers than Acer however Acer does have a bit more to offer (not that what it does offer is on the "top" of my list). I will not go down to a netbook or even consider anything that has a solo processor - too slow. The graphics on both computers are on the low side, however as stated before, I'm not into gaming or anything of that nature. moreVoting Question: Power plan settings on a desktop computer?
I have a desktop computer and I'm running Windows 7. I'm on the power options screen in control panel and I noticed my computer is on the "Balanced" power plan. I also noticed there is a high performance option. From what I know, putting high performance on a laptop is generally a bad idea because your battery drains faster. My question is, since i'm on a desktop computer it shouldn't matter right? It might consume a bit more power but i'm plugged in to the wall cause it's a desktop computer. Are there any real advantages over using "High Performance" than "Balanced"? moreResolved Question: My computer is toying with me for 5 year now, please, what's going on?
Before continue please excuses my bad English. Wall of text inc. Alright,I moved to U.S 7 year ago,and I got my very first Laptop computer on my 2th year,I loved it so much and frankly got obsessed with it,but after we moved to an apartment, with my Laptop, the machine start to behave strangely,it keep turning on in middle of the nights, multiple times,I turn it off but it keep repeating until I have to unplug the power, and take batteries out. One day I was doing my homework on the Laptop and the screen suddenly all fizzle up,giving white noise static and then burn (No it just been turn on,no overheating). I got a Desktop next year for Birthday gift, same apartment, same stuff,it turn on every night on it own, this happening for 2 year and I quite ignored it,until we got a printer...when I unplug the Desktop due to constantly self turn on,my printer goes off on it own! it sometime print off total-blacked paper and eventually empty-ed my ink jet. Until 1-2 year ago,the computer was heavily loaded with games and download it was barely able to run proper,so I got another one, also that we got our own house, and this is still happening right now to this computer, and the old printer. This "thing" keep following me everywhere, and don't matter what computer I own,it turn on it self every night. This need to STOP,please, anyone have any Idea what the heck is playing with me?It have come to this point and I'm really desperated. To add a little bit,Im frankly was a bad computer user on my first desktop, but I have 2 different Anti-Virus program on both desktop, McAfee and Norton Anti-Virus,also my ISP been changed twice from Embraq to Cox,and I don't visit kinky site, nor downloading dangerous files, the PC is only use for Offline gaming and Study.regullarly scan once a week and do defragment. my Pc is completely Clean,I also NEVER copy files from PC to PC,none of my PC are connected to each other. Also the printing was pretty various, most of the time they are Fully Blacked out, some print random 00101010101000001010101 thing for the whole page, some was just lines of black in diffrent levels. moreVoting Question: iMac wont recognize my iPod?
I just reset my 64 GB iPod Touch because it wasn't syncing to iTunes. I have a Mac desktop. When I click the home button on my iPod it shows the USB cord pointing towards the iTunes logo prompting me to connect it to my computer. So I plug My iPod into the computer like normal and nothing happens. The iPod says its charging in the little battery icon in the top right corner but that's it. The screen stays the same and iTunes stays the same as well. I have no idea what to do. Please help..... Thanks moreResolved Question: How do I disable keyboard shortcuts?
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU ANSWER! Okay, on my computer, I play a lot of games and applications that use F1, F2, F3, F4, and so on. I recently got a new computer, and there are shortcuts to every F1, F2, F3, etc. F1 = Goes to the Desktop Background F2 = Turns off/on my internet access F3 = My Battery Stat's F4 = Decrease my brightness F5 = Increase my brightness F6 = Blank F7 = No Sound And so on, and so on. How do I disable these? When I have to click on them in games or applications, these shortcuts happen and the keys don't respond to the application. It's getting annoying. Please help. I have an Intel Core i3 Inspiron 5 from Dell. It's a laptop, and it's Windows 7. moreResolved Question: Do desktop computers have batteries that need replacing?
Mine will run fine then turn off The more you use it the faster it shuts down. When I run a disk scan it finds nothing wrong. Is there anyway I can figure out the problem without taking it to a geek? It's running Windows XP Pro. moreResolved Question: Hard disk failure...?
On my laptop (this is not mine), my computer is not working properly. Two days ago I left my computer on all night on sleep and when I turned it on the next morning it froze. So I held the power button to turn it off. I turned it back on and it said it was recommended to repair my system. This never happened before and it hasn't been to my desktop screen since (until just now). It wouldn't recognize my hard drive or OP. When it kept freezing I heard a weird noise coming from the inside of my computer every 2 minutes or so (I'm hoping that's not the click of death). I just turned on my computer and it says "This copy of Windows is not genuine" in the lower right corner, which I don't understand at all because it is. (It's Windows Vista). In the bottom right where the time and battery stuff is (it also includes my mouse and internet connection), it only shows the time and battery. My background nor screen saver works because it says I don't have a new enough video card to work with Direct 3D or something. Now my computer is really slow, but it isn't making the noise anymore. When I try to fix it through repair, it doesn't help. Right now it's just on my desktop with a bunch of things popping up saying "________ is not working. Windows is trying to find a solution" Basically everything on my PC is screwed and I really can't do anything. Any troubleshooting things I can do that will help? And when I tried to repair everything was alright except it said the hard disk failed, and one time the dreaded bleu screen popped up. The computer is so slow I can't open anything including start or anything, so no I can't get to the internet Eric, I tried that, wouldn't work. I'm not able to do system restore either. When I go to BIOS settings I press F9 for the defaults but it doesn't work. When I try the hard disk test it fails. This sucks... moreResolved Question: What's the best laptop for home office?
I will soon be working from home and need help finding the best desktop replacement computer. By working from home, I don't mean selling things on ebay or writing a blog. I will be working a full 8+ hour shift daily and will be required also to add certain company-specific applications to the computer and run multiple apps at once. My current desktop is kind of slow and I have never owned a laptop but have used many borrowed ones before. I would like my choice to have good quality screen resolution and size to avoid eye strain. Also it should be good for gaming and media for when I'm taking a break (or just bored). It doesn't have to have AWESOME battery life because it will spend most of it's time at home, but i would like to be able to take it with me when I travel or visit an occasional coffee shop. It should also have plenty of memory and speed for easy navigation and switching back and forth between apps. I am looking to spend around $2000, but am flexible if it's worth the cash. People have suggested Sony Vaio, Toshiba Satellite P505, Apple Macbok Pro, HP Pavillion dv7, and a few others. I've tried to do a little research, but a lot of the info might as well be written in Greek and doesn't really help me get any closer to picking one over the other. I hope you can help me narrow down my choices and make a solid decision. Thanks in advance! moreResolved Question: What laptop would best suit me?
So I'm going to be a freshman in college this year and I'm looking for a laptop to suit my needs. I have a price range of anything up to $1500 excluding taxes but including everything especially the warranty, anti-virus program, and Office home or student edition. I want a brand that's reliable and is known for good customer service. This laptop has to last me 3 or 4+ years. It must have the following: -Windows 7 -Minimum 15" screen, maximum 17" -No more than 8 pounds (must be able to carry it around from class to class without dying) -Integrated webcam and mic -500GB hard drive (preferably at 7200rpm) -Minimum 4GB of memory -HD support (720p minimum) with an HDMI output -Backlit keyboard -Minimum battery life of 5 hours -Several USB ports -Wireless -It also must be extremely quiet if I just have the internet and a note-taking application open. I don't want my fan to bug my classmates with! It basically needs to have a processor (Intel-i5 or i-7 is what I keep seeing on nice Toshibas, but I don't really know anything about them verses AMD) deliver super awesome performance that's good enough for handling multiple applications such as internet with several tabs open and iTunes at once, and one that could handle graphics in 3D and graphic-intensive games such as WoW, Sims, and Spore and the upcoming Old Republic. If that means upgrading to an NVIDIA graphics card, then so be it. This computer has to have that kind of power. This will become my desktop replacement so I am investing in a separate hard drive as well to store my music and pics on in order to take up less space on the actual laptop itself. I would basically using it for taking notes, making projects/working on reports, browsing the web, playing/recording/editing music, playing flash games in my browser, playing video games during my down time (maybe a couple hours a day), and watching Netflix movies online. It must be able to last me through a day of classes without dying! Thanks for all your help! moreResolved Question: Blackra1n icon won't appear on my desktop?
I've had my touch 3G jailbroken for a while. My laptop was stolen the last week though and I let the battery run down on my ipod. So I have to re-jailbreak it. Normally this isn't a problem, except I don't have the blackra1n program on my new computer, and when I try to download it it says this application has failed to start because ASL.dll was not found. All the info I can find is if you already have blackra1n on your computer - where you drag the icon in to your apple support files. I really don't want to have to restore my ipod. Can anyone help me out?? moreResolved Question: College Laptop Advice: Alienware? M11x/M15x?
I am currently looking into a laptop for college. It would replace my desktop which is about 6 years old now, and have to fulfill the portable role. I would like to be able to play games if I have time and I am not too worried about low settings as long as the game plays. I am also not worried about weight. I have taken interest in the Alienware M11x or M15x. -I am considering the M15x with basically standard specs plus the 500gb hdd and bigger battery. Just a standard portable laptop. But extra powerful. -The M11x on the other hand I would add same 500gb hard drive, and 4gb ram, plus most other goodies such as mobile internet. In addition, i would probably try to get an lcd tv or monitor to keep at home along with a seperate keyboard, mouse, and portable disc drive. In affect, make it a full size computer in my room and an ultraportable away from it. My question is, obviously, which one? I know I would not like the 11inch screen and small keyboard on the go as much as the 15 but the battery life would be great to have. And as I have no experience, I do not know how much time I will spend out of my room and also be away from a power source. I am open for any recommendations, even if it is for a completely different notebook. Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: what to do with 10 year old non working hp pavilion desktop?
i have an old hp desktop i picked up at goodwill for 8 bucks when i was at goodwill one day and found it, i said hey lets see if this works i mean its only 8 bucks if it didnt who cares its not a big loss. it had nothing but the actual desktop. luckily i had a monitor and a power-cable from my guitar amp (lol) and keys/mouse from my current desktop that i hooked up to and it worked. well i was dumb enough to take it apart for no aparent reason when i was bored and i took out the fan to put up to a battery, then i put it back in and for some reason the whole computer doesnt work. i dont know what to do with it its just laying in the closet. its got a 6 gig hard drive with windows 2000 (upgraded from the 98 it came with) duel booted with xp service pack 3 (it works but lags). dont know much about it besides that, has all the basic features (floppy, cd drive, hdd, etc.) could of made this shorter, but idk if the computer or parts of it are of any use for anything. moreResolved Question: Should I return my ipad?
Ok, I am currently typing this from my horrible laptop. My dad recently got me/himself a ipad, instead of buying a desktop like I asked him to. He says I can either: -Return the ipad, get into a specialized highschool, and my dad will buy me any computer I want. -Keep the ipad, get into a sepcialized highschool, and my dad will buy me any computer I want...as long as I pay 10-15% of the full price. (It is going to take a year before I take the specialized test.) I guess I can keep on using this laptop, but I'm kinda at my limit. It over heats after just 30min, and it forces me to turn on the fan to cool it down. Also, the battery dosen't recharge anymore, so I have to keep it plugged in. I also play games on it, and I sometimes lag, which can be very annoying. I can also return the ipad and buy a Xbox360...I never played a GTA/Call of Duty/Final F. game <.<, so having a Xbox360 would make me happy too... moreResolved Question: Gaming/school laptop, recommendations welcome!?
Alright here's the deal: -Going to college next year -Need a fast computer with good fps for WoW -Reasonable price (willing to pay good money for a good laptop of course) -Reliable -Good battery and coolant system Yes I know a desktop would be better and I can build one, but I prefer mobility. Any and all help is welcome! Thanks in advance for taking time out to answer my questions :D moreResolved Question: What computer should I buy?
I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop (purchased 6/07) and it has recently been plagued with spyware/malware,etc and I'd rather not renew my Norton Anti-Virus (100.00) and replaced the HP battery (125.00) so I'm just going to buy a new PC all-together. Now my question is: What would be a better choice for a standard home computer, a desktop (what I want) or a laptop/notebook (what my sister/mother wants for mobility purposes). I always thought desktops were cheaper/more powerful than most laptops and usually had more RAM which is what I'm mainly after, I DO NOT want a PC that cannot multi-task easily; ex: running multiple browser tabs while using microsoft word/pp/excel, etc. I am a student (freshman in college) and my sister is in high school so the pc would mainly be used for word/excel/powerpoint, youtube, itunes/zune, simple things like that. Site references/links would be appreciated, thanks for your time. moreResolved Question: Do Dell computers normally suck or is it just mine?
I have been a happy HP user for several years and have never had a problem. My HP laptop has been through hell, dropped several times, stayed on for months at a time has been used outdoors in subzero temps and over 100 deg temps. The only thing thats been replace in 3 years is the battery. I also have a 3 year old HP and a 5 year old HP desktop. Ive upgraded processors and ram and hard drives, but never had any problems. 9 months ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. The Hard drive makes a lot of noise and the SD card reader quit working. Over the phone they determined that it needs a new motherboard and hard drive. I either gotta send it back to them for 2 months for repairs or they can send someone here to fix it for $60. Why would a motherboard and hard drive need replacing on such a new laptop thats never been dropped and has always been taken care of really well? Do all Dells suck or just this one? moreResolved Question: The Best Laptop for an Architecture Student?

I have 2 problems with my computer. First of all, about a month ago my computer out of nowhere started saying "No battery detected". then a while after that my computer wouldn't turn on, but when I take the battery out and just have it plugged in, it starts up and works fine, but when the battery is in, It doesn't work. So I thought that it was just the battery, so I had my dad order a new one, which i just got today, but it is still doing the same thing!! >:| The computer is new too. and for my second problem. the other day i was trying to open something on my desktop and it asked me which program to open it with so I chose one and then it changed ALLL of my exe files and the icons for them dissapeared, and now I cannot open any exe files. I have tried so many solutions but none of them worked. I tried download the exe fixes, doing the regedit thing, nothing will work for me :( it is getting veryyy annoying. I can't open Itunes, aim, even internet explorer. Luckily I found a way to get there. Please please please please help me ! moreResolved Question: Should I take out the battery when using the notebook with a power supply?
I have a Sony VAIO notebook, I never took the battery out and when at home used the notebook with the power supply attached to it. The battery life slowly started to shrink, but it wasn't that bad. Suddenly, one day it was completely dead. Only some month later! And I would have to pay 60euro (i think thats around 80$ or something like that) for a new one. But I didn't buy one, I just kept using it as a desktop, and used the computers at school which sucked but I couldn't afford to risk having a dead battery again after I bought one again. Now I just got a Lenovo R61, the battery is all fine for now, I didn't use it with the power supply + battery together yet because I don't want it to die too. I don't believe that using the power supply and battery together should be killing the battery. The Macbooks have fixed batteries right? You can't take them out (well of course you can, it's just some screws) - atleast you aren't supposed to the way they built them in right? I really need to know if it's the power supply + battery use that kills the battery or if it was something else. Maybe SONY sucks and the battery you get with the laptop is just crap LoL. xD Thanks!! moreVoting Question: What should I do with my old laptop?
I got a new laptop a few days ago, a toshiba satellite t135d. I love this computer its perfect for what I want which is portability, long battery life, and to be strong enough. My question is what I should do with my old laptop. It is a dell inspiron 1545. It is a really good computer but it was too big for what I wanted. Also the case is in pretty bad condition. The hinges are pretty loose so the screen shakes back and forward and the plug into the ac adapter is cracked. The crack makes the plug in super loose and the laptop does not charge. Only if I am lucky and I jiggle around with the chord will it charge. I really want a desktop so I can do things I don't want to on my toshiba such as photoshop, adobe flash, making and recording music and video editing. Should I try to sell my dell, if so how much? Should I invest in fixing my dell, if so do how much do you think it would cost? Would the dell be good enough to do what I want, it has 4 gigs ram, i don't know what processor, and windows vista. Is their a way to make this laptop a comfortable desktop replacement? moreResolved Question: how can i boot from an external drive?
my laptop's dc jack is broken, thus battery is dead, thus crapola for the laptop momentarily. until its fixed, i bought a usb housing case for its hdd and plugged it to my desktop. now, this is not a blank or simple file-loaded external drive, keep that in mind, this is a full-on computer harddrive, complete with OS installed, etc. how can i/is there a way to boot the desktop computer from this drive so that, in essence, my desktop becomes my laptop? i hate working at this damn desktop for a number of reasons, but at least if i can achieve this, one of those reasons won't be that its uncustomized and lacking all my needed programs. ...laaaaame. moreResolved Question: Problems with my Toshiba Laptop?

The following day my son turned it on and nothing happened. Its completely dead, cant even turn on the laptop with the battery charger. Its dead. What can I do? If any can help please do I use this computer for business and school. It is an emachines desktop. moreVoting Question: What Is Wrong With My Computer?
Okay, this has happened a few times in the past year. So I'm looking for good answers. Now, when I turn my laptop on, everything works well for about five or ten minutes. Then, whatever I'm currently using goes into the "Not Responding" state. Then, everything else goes with it. AIM, Firefox, iTunes, even my desktop screen and mini bar at the bottom do it. It freezes my computer so the only ways to shut it off are a forced shut down, pulling the battery out, or just letting it run out of it's battery. So nothing too good for it. Does anyone have an actual possible reason for all this.? And maybe even a solution? moreVoting Question: Is this laptop good value? My spec and link included. Need help Choosing?

Basically i would like a laptop with a large screen and preferable HD graphics, with this i'd like to be able to plug it up to a TV screen aswell. Though i am not an avid games player of the like of 'Bodyshock' and 'World of Warcraft' could this play reasonably good games and deliver good graphics? I've been anxiously awaiting the release of the new Macbook Pro's today and I'm looking for some help as to which one I should get--I don't know much about the inner workings of computers and sales people always talk you up even if it's not what you need. Any advice is appreciated. I work in graphic design but prefer to do my projects on my desktop. I don't want to use my laptop for intense jobs but I will likely be installing the inDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator CS4 as well as about 500 fonts, because, even though it's my secondary/portable computer, I want to be able to crop a quick picture/do something up if need be. I am currently considering the high end 13": 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor / 320GB 5400-rpm hard drive/ NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor I like the 13" because it seems more compact, has a better battery life and is obviously cheaper. I don't want to spend any more than necessary, but at the same time I don't want to be stuck with a useless computer in a couple years' time. I know the design suite can bog down a computer so I just want to know that I'm getting a machine that will still be able to handle it down the road. $500 difference is quite a bit--is it worth it for me? moreVoting Question: Digital Protection Virus?
A virus downloaded its self on my lap-top under the name 'digital protection' and at fist I didn't know what was going on so I just pausedfor a second, and then it started getting out of hand. All these notifications started popping up, 99% of them from 'digital protection', trying to get me to buy their product. So I just closed the screen, took out my battery and unplugged my laptop from the wall so it would shut off. I know that this wasn't the best thing to do, but I was nervous that my lap top was going to get more overrun by viruses. When I turned my computer on, a minute after turning it off. To run all the anti-virus programs I have (which include, Ad-Aware / AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.5 / Spyware Doctor / Spybot - Search & Destroy) to find that I had three new desktop links to porn sites. Now I'm just 14, I don't go on porn sites. So I put the porn links into my recycle bin (incase my mom or dad came in and saw the links (didn't want them to freak out)) then started running Spyware Doc. followed by Spybot S&D, Ad Aware and last AVG Anti-V. All while trying to uninstall 'Digital Protection'. I went to 'Add or Remove Programs' in 'Control Panel' only to find out that it could not uninstall because it was already uninstalled. That was BS. The thing was still trying to hack my computer! Right now things are more or less under control. I'm running AVG Anti-V for a second time just to make sure that there aren't anymore viruses trying to sneak in. (oh this all started at around 2:50 AM, it's now (At least for me) 1/4 after 5. And I'm asking this off my touch cause I'm nervous to go onto the Internet so soon after the attack so sorry if there are any spelling errors Now for my question now that I've explained all that has happened. How do I uninstall this program! And make sure that it's comepleatly out of my computer system I've had descized viruses before, the last one comepleatly taking down my firewall and the reason I have Spyware Doc. Forunatley that time my dad was home so he fixed my laptop within a day or two but now my dad is gone for work and doesn't get back for a few days, and my mom knows nothing about comeputer safety except clearing cookies and history and my older brother only knows enought for takeing out a few trogans (about as much as I do), nothing near this bad so that's why I'm asking online computer land for help moreVoting Question: U.P.S meter in Desktop Computer(Windows 7)?

Ok, so recently I bought a dust cleaner ( those cans that spray out air). I used it in my computer without taking it apart ( It was a toshiba, I couldn't do it myself). I was spraying air into it, then suddenly I tipped the can alittle bit over to the side and instead of air coming out, liquid came out! ( The computer was upside down on my lap) I quickly wiped it off. After I was done I put the battery in and started it up, but something was strange. No noise was coming out of the fan! I flipped my computer over and saw my fan unfunctioning. I started to panic. The computer started up fine, and went to my desktop, but whenever I try to play a game or go to the internet it shuts off! My computer is a toshiba, it has no viruses, everything is fine except for the fan or the thing that twirls around and makes noise. Please help. I really don't know what to do. If I should buy a new fan, please tell me the price, and some instruction to do so. Thank you for your help =3 moreVoting Question: Why won't my iPod charge anymore?
I've had my iPod touch for a little over two months now and it no longer charges from my mom's laptop. Originally, I'd just plug it into my desktop, but it crashed (from unrelated reasons) and we gave it to our tech cousin for parts. It'll charge from my step-dad's net-book(last time I checked) but it annoys him and he doesn't prefer for me to charge it from his laptop. Recently, I plugged it into my mom's laptop and it acted as if nothing had happened. I usually waste the battery at night and then charge it from dead in the morning. I stayed over at my grandparents and it no longer charges from their newer computer downstairs. I eventually got it charged from their old tower upstairs, though I had to restart it. I'm getting a new laptop soon and I was wondering if what type you get affects the charge. Five months ago – The time I have to wait has gotten longer. I have to wait for more than 15 minutes. Two months ago - My computer does not turn on often. It’s because when I want to turn it on, it always display the error message. But sometimes, I can- but only by luck! A month ago – I have researched for some treatments. ..."Few" Miles Away??? Hello. I have a question about lightning and computers. I was wondering if "ANY" amount of damage (I mean "any" -- the smallest amount of damage) can occur to any computer component (in my case: my desktop computer or computer peripheral -- monitor, external hard drive, All-In-One printer with fax, or my high-speed cable modem) when lightning strikes a couple (say 2-3 miles) of miles away for a duration of a couple of minutes from my home??? However, my cable modem (a large Motorola SURFboard cable modem - for digital phone and cable modem that most household have of this type) comes in directly from the cable box outside my home. About 3 weeks ago i attempted to turn off hyper threading in my BIOS settings. When i did that my computer would not boot so i took out the cmos battery and put it back in which should reset my bios settings. I was then able to boot my computer. But since then while i am playing games ( or every so often just surfing the web) my pc crashed to a blue screen saying windows needs to shutdown to prevent damage to my pc. This now happens 3,4, 5 times a day. I'm not sure why my computer is crashing. After it crashes i manually turn it off and back on and it boots just fine. But soon after it crashes. I need to know why it is crashing. I called my computer vendor and they said it could be a graphics card issue and they are sending me a replacement free of charge. But im not so sure that's the problem. I read on the internet that its possible that some settings can be changed by mistake when i replace the battery. Is that possible? I saw an option in my bios that said "reset settings to default" and another that said "reset to optimal settings" that sounded like a good idea but i wanted to make sure that would do further damage to my pc without asking first. I inserted a disk into my Macbook, and it made some whirring noises and then stopped. The disk icon then didn't show up on the desktop and the game application didn't recognize, either.
